Hello,
i have the same problem with the german "Umlaute". I installed the HTMLDB (Win2000, DB 9.2.0.4) and it works with german, but the "Umlaute" arent displayed correct. So i set the NLS_LANG enviroment variable to GERMAN_GERMANY.AL32UTF8. Nothing changes. Then i did the steps above, Alter session and also run the load_de script again, but then i get following error:

  • HTMLDB 1.6 load_de.sql bug ?

    I installed HTMLDB 1.6 as an upgrade to the one on the companion CD.
    Since my native language is german, I like to have HTMLDB speaking german language with me. So I opened sqlplus as sys with sysdba privs, altered the session schema to FLOWS_010600 and started the Language update via @load_de.

    Peter,
    I believe there's a bug lurking in HTML DB somewhere. Your situation is identical to the one described in:
    Re: Installation Error 1.6
    The odd thing is, we have been unable to reproduce it (loading with NLS_LANG german_germany.al32utf8 works just fine). I also asked a couple colleagues in Germany if they've had any difficulty, and they have never encountered this.
    If you would be so kind, could you please let me know the following information:
    1) The database version you are using
    2) The operating system (name and version)
    3) Your database character set
    4) The version and operating system of SQL*Plus you're using (in the event you're doing this installation remotely)
    If you feel uncomfortable posting this on OTN, could you please just e-mail this info to [email protected]?
    Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
    viele Grüße,
    Joel

  • Error in load_de

    Hi,
    I have run load_de set the nls_lang to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8 as proposed. The first statement in load_de is:
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=FLOWS_010404
    with my actual flow schema. I have run the script with sys and get the following error:
    ERROR at line 1:

    Juergen,
    The error you showed would happen if the 'ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=FLOWS_010404' had not been performed. Is FLOWS_010404 the correct schema, or are you doing an installation based on the 10g companion CD, which would install the FLOWS_010500 schema? In any case, the ALTER SESSION statement is not included in the load_de.sql script that we distribute; you must type it in yourself (perhaps you did).

  • Error after load_de.sql in 2.2.1.0.0.4

    I experienced this error message:
    ERR-1016 Anwendung "4550" Seite "11" nicht gefunden (angeforderte Sprache="de")
    after having loaded the german language (running load_de.sql - I did set nls_lang=AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8) and had logged in as user FLOWS_0202000;
    whenever I switch to English (US) everything seem to work fine, whereas with Browser-Language= German I get above error.
    BTW: I did apply for new the latest 2.2.1 patch as stipulated in the post installation tasks.
    How to get around that one ?
    Thanks for ur assistance.

    Joel,
    the answer to your last question: Can you then use APEX in Geman? NO. -
    I originally came from 1.6 (from the companian CD or download), than upgraged to 2.0 - then to 2.2 then applied the generic patch).
    I can login with Browser set to Engl.(US) - when I then switch the browser from Engl./US to Geman in the App.Builder (Engl.page 1500) - I get:
    "ERR-1016 Anwendung "4000" Seite "1500" nicht gefunden (angeforderte Sprache="de")
    Zurück zur Anwendung."
    I switch to Engl. and to SQL Workshop - page 3002 - then switch to DE and refresh and get:
    "ERR-1016 Anwendung "4500" Seite "3002" nicht gefunden (angeforderte Sprache="de")"
    Hope that assists.
    Bernhard
    BTW: users who download the HTMLDB/APEX sources via the Companian CD do receive the 1.6 sources and then have to upgrade to 2.0 or 2,2, etc.
    Why don't they receive the 2.2 sources straight away ?

    It is not an Oracle error/problem. The error message is quite specific ito the actual root cause of the problem:
    KUP-04001: error opening file \\oraaps\Exceldata\mysheet.csv
    KUP-04017: OS message: The data is invalid.
    These are operating system errors. The operating system cannot access/open/read the specific UNC and/or file.
    Fix it at o/s level and it will work when Oracle needs to make that o/s call.

  • Problem with Umlauts

    Hi All,
    For our customer we managed a german application inside APEX, unfortunately we have some problems with showing the umlauts in the application.
    By showing a interactive report the umlauts in the data and in the column names are shown correct. But when I pressed the green wheel I saw Zurücksetzen instead of zurucksetzen.
    This problem also occured by logging into the application with a wrong password (Ungültige ID-Daten für die Anmeldung) instead of Ungeltige ID Daten fur die anmeldung.
    By the installation of APEX we run also the LOAD_DE.SQL script to translate the apex version. Before we run this script we set the language to german_Germany.AL32UTF8.
    When I look into the HTTP server in the dads.conf file I saw the follow row: PlsqlNLSLanguage German_Germany.AL32UTF8
    It seems that the problem is inside APEX instead of the application inside the APEX version (because the application shows the data correct). Is there a way to see which names are stored in the databse (to make sure that the data is stored correctly)?
    Has anybody an idea how to fix this problem?
    We have an Oracle 11G Database with apex version 3.2 and an HTTP Server.

    I find a solution for this problem.
    Below the steps we did to fix this issue
    I first checked the dads.conf, if you’re weblogic is correctly configured.
    Yes it was!
    Then I checked, if the database is able to save Umlaute
    Yes it was!
    Then I checked, if the database stores the Umlaute for Apex
    No it doesn't
    That means, that the import (load_de) was unsuccessfull.
    Then I checked the import files, which were saved on the server
    Everything seems to be correct.
    Then I checked other NLS related settings and found that ORA_NLS10 was set.
    Although we need this setting for some reasons, it “destroyed” our load_de.sql.
    Finally I unset this setting, and load the data again and now it worked.

    The application starts without the obove mentioned error.

    It seems patch KB980182 resets some security settings, and the Login button doesn't do anything.
    I set added my site to the Trusted Site list and everything is working now. Just another notch on my "I hate MS" totem.

    Hi Alfred,
    It seems that you did not perform step 3 at 3.3.11.1 at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/install.42/e35123/otn_install.htm#BABBHFGD
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040200;
    Please try this before running @load_de.sql.
    I hope this helps.

  • German language for APEX

    How can I change in Apex 3.2.1 shipped with 11gR2 the language to german?
    Thanks

    Hello Patrick,
    Did you ran the load_de.sql (from the apex installation \builder\de directory?
    And set the preferred language of your browser to german as well.
    Vielleicht geht es dann gut...

  • German Umlauts in helptext displayed as rectangle

    Background
    Upgrading Apex from 3.2.x to 4.0.2.00.07
    Problem
    Apex running in German. The tests look normal ( German Umlauts looks correct)
    Only customized helptext or standard help text will display the Umlauts as rectangles.
    Load_de.sql was running corrctly
    On Apex.oracle.com -> The issue also not reproduceable
    If set: Set Screen Reader Mode On = on
    it works too?
    Environment
    ApEx 4.0.2.00.07 on linux 64-bit on a 11.1.1.0.7 database
    Client: XP SP3 IE 8
    Any ideas?
    Perhaps similar issues in other languages like French or so?
    Thanks Hendrik

    Did you look at the character set when you exported your application from the 3.2 environment?
    Did you import it into the 4 environment using the same character set?

  • 10g XE (APEX 2.1) - APEX 3.1

    I would like to upgrade the APEX from my 10g XE installation (version 2.1.0.00.39) to the new APEX 3.1. I already tried it but failed :/ So I reinstalled XE and would like to give it a new try ;)
    I unzipped the apex_3.1.zip to c:\temp\apex
    Following the installation guide I will do the following:
    ===
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect sys as sysdba
    @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
    ===
    From what I've read in the installation guide, the upgrade process is completed after this step (-> chapter 4: "Post-installation Tasks").
    Anything else I need to do?
    Thanks!

    Hi Stefan,
    yes, there are a few more steps necessary:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.1_and_xe.html
    , especially
    2) loading the new images into the XML DB (apxldimg.sql)
    and
    3) changing the password for the ADMIN user (apxxepwd.sql)
    Also, I would install the owa_util patch, it upgrades the toolkit to 10.1.2.0.6.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/install.310/e10496/pre_require.htm#BABGBJJD
    (2.7 PL/SQL Web Toolkit)
    After that you would also have to install APEX for your language, e.g. for German:
    -- Frontend auf Deutsch installieren
    set NLS_LANG=GERMAN_GERMANY.AL32UTF8
    cd builder
    cd de
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = FLOWS_030100;
    @load_de.sqlRegards,
    ~Dietmar.

  • Language issues with 11g xe and apex

    Hi,
    Nice work indeed, but I found that there's not a Chinese version of 11g xe, it is in English, and also for apex embeded, is it ok for me to do the same as before, to install a language for apex by running the script offered within the apex package?
    After installing the apex app, some menus are in English in the interacitve report, like the 'action' button and its included functions, like aggregate, caculate, sort,

    Hi ,
    I have found the way, as the manual stated:
    3.3.10 About Running Oracle Application Express in Other Languages
    The Oracle Application Express interface is translated into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. A single instance of Oracle Application Express can be installed with one or more of these translated versions. At runtime, each user's Web browser language settings determine the specific language version.
    In order to install other languages you must use the apex_4.0.zip file which contains the extra files referenced below. If you previously downloaded apex_4.0_en.zip, then you don't need to re-install Oracle Application Express. Simply download apex_4.0.zip and unzip the file into the same directory where you unzipped apex_4.0_en.zip.
    The translated version of Oracle Application Express should be loaded into a database that has a character set that supports the specific language. If you attempt to install a translated version of Oracle Application Express into a database that does not support the character encoding of the language, the installation may fail or the translated Oracle Application Express instance may appear corrupt when run. The database character set AL32UTF8 supports all the translated versions of Oracle Application Express.
    You can manually install translated versions of Oracle Application Express using SQL*Plus. The installation files are encoded in AL32UTF8.
    Note:
    Regardless of the target database character set, to install a translated version of Oracle Application Express, you must set the character set value of the NLS_LANG environment variable to AL32UTF8 before starting SQL*Plus.
    The following examples illustrate valid NLS_LANG settings for loading Oracle Application Express translations:
    American_America.AL32UTF8
    Japanese_Japan.AL32UTF8
    3.3.10.1 Installing a Translated Version of Oracle Application Express
    Whether you are installing for the first time or upgrading from a previous release, you must run the load_lang.sql script to run a translated version of Oracle Application Express.
    The installation scripts are located in subdirectories identified by a language code in the unzipped distribution apex/builder. For example, the German version is located in apex/builder/de and the Japanese version is located in apex/builder/ja. Within each of directory, there is a language loading script identified by the language code (for example, load_de.sql or load_ja.sql).
    To install a translated version of Oracle Application Express:
    Set the NLS_LANG environment variable, making sure that the character set is AL32UTF8. For example:
    Bourne or Korn shell:
    NLS_LANG=American_America.AL32UTF8
    export NLS_LANG
    C shell:
    setenv NLS_LANG American_America.AL32UTF8
    For Windows based systems:
    set NLS_LANG=American_America.AL32UTF8
    Navigate to the directory under apex/builder based on the language you need to install. For example for German, navigate to apex/builder/de. Start SQL*Plus and connect to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed as SYS specifying the SYSDBA role. For example:
    On Windows:
    SYSTEM_DRIVE:\ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
    Enter password: SYS_password
    On UNIX and Linux:
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
    Enter password: SYS_password
    Execute the following statement:
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040000;
    Execute the appropriate language specific script. For example:
    @load_lang.sql
    Where lang is the specific language (for example, load_de.sql for German or load_ja.sql for Japanese).
    though I have to download apex 4.0.2, since the packages not avaliable within 11gXE.

  • Additional language installed - ORA-01403

    Hello there,
    yesterday I upgraded APEX 3.2 -> APEX 4.1, this worked fine.
    Today I installed the additional language german. Now I get ORA-01403 when choosing language de in the development environment of the application. The error is the same if I set the browser language to english or german.
    This is what I did:
    1.) set environment:
    NLS_LANG=GERMAN_GERMANY.AL32UTF8
    export NLS_LANG
    echo $NLS_LANG
    GERMAN_GERMANY.AL32UTF8
    2.) start sqlplus
    3.) ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040100;
    Session wurde geändert.
    4.) @load_de.sql
    Any help is appriciated,
    thanks,
    Carola

    Hello again,
    in the first attempt I set the wrong environment AND I executed the wrong script:
    I took the script of <APEX3.2 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de instead of
    <APEX4.1 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de
    So now I deinstalled the language:
    changed directory to <APEX3.2 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de -> ran unload_de.sql script
    and installed it again:
    changed directory to <APEX4.2 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de -> ran load_de.sql script
    BUT I got a new error:
    After installation of the german language I was able to click the "Deutsch" (German) Button in the GUI but I was allways redirected to the Login-Page
    i am only able to login with my login/password even I used "English" for the language.
    I cannot login with German...
    as described here:
    Connot login into APEX 4.1 Workspace with German language
    The solution mentioned in that thread worked for me, too:
    sqlplus / nolog
    connect sys as sysdba
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040100;
    begin
    wwv_flow_security.g_security_group_id := 10;
    wwv_flow_security.set_internal_cookie_name;
    commit;
    end;
    regards,
    Carola
