Load testing JSF application

Is there any tool to load test JSF application created with JSC?
Can we use the load testing feature in Java Studio Enterprise to test JSF application created with JSC?

Any tool designed to perform load-based testing of a web application will work.

  • Do load test for application installed in Weblogic 10.3.4 using OATS 9.31

    Hi Friends,
I need to do a load test for my application deployed in Weblogic 10.3.4. I went on to use the Oracle Application testing Suite (OATS 9.31). But it says its compatible only upto Weblogic 10.3.3. So pls advice me to find a way to load test my oracle fusion application deployed in the current server.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Which load testing tool is appropriate for sending message to a tcp socket

    Hi,
I am new to the testing world. I have developed a messaging application, where the client sends his requests on to the server program which opens a socket and listens for messages. Then all mesaging goes on. I want to load test my application. I have tested it with Apache's JMeter, besides that are there any other load testing tools.
The clients need to send messages on a tcp socket. I really need this, please help me.
    Thanks,

    Dude,
    Write one!
I test any servers I've written by hammering them by writing a multi-threaded test program to simulate client activity, namely an initial login and then whatever other activity the client would usually perform. Maybe in your case this would involve the sending of messages, the checking/reading of new messages and logging out.
I usually get my timing statistics by simply capturing a start time and an end time (the difference being the m/s taken). ie: using java.util.Date.
Run the test program from a single host to iron out any initial problems, but then be sure to run it from as many different hosts as you can get your mitts on!

  • JSF Application on WAS 6.1 when migrated from tomcat5.5 not loading

I'm migration a list of applications from Tomcat to WAS 6.1
I have a JSF application running on Tomcat 5.5.
The same application when hosting on websphere application server 6.1(latest service pack applied in 6.1.0.17 ) is not loading properly.
The application has a login screen that comes when loads. This comes fine in the tomcat server. But in the WAS this not loading. It's not giving any error messages also. What happens in WAS is in the login screen The header section will comes but the login fields ie the user Id and password section won't come.
I tried deploying the same war file from the Tomcat to the WAS server. Still there is no change.
Initially my WAS server version was 6.1.0.2, and then I had an issue with JSF servlet and context mappings.
After applying the fix pack 6.1.0.17 it was fine.
The application uses the a security filter- form based login in the web.xml
Is there any difference between the form base authentication between tomcat and websphere ?
Here is the section of web.xml for form based authentication
    <!--Security filter - form based login -->
    <filter>
    <filter-name>Security Filter</filter-name>

    </filter>
    this is urgent, please help.

yes i checked the server logs. it didn't give any messages.
there is no information in the file 'native_stderr.log','SystemOut.log','SystemErr.log','native_stdout.log' files.
In the production server, i noticed an error message in the SystemOut.log file, it gives the following message.

  • Application Insights for load testing in VS 2013, Azure Preview or Visual Studio Online?

I'm trying to get some clarification on which version of application insights to use to get performance counters from application insights for my azure cloud service for load and performance testing purposes.
So far, its not be clear what the differences between the two versions are, after deploying first the Azure Preview version, I attempted to set up performance counters using application insights but was shown an error because my visual studio online account
did not have an associated application insights instance.
Is it possible to get performance counters using AI for load testing using the Azure Preview version? If so, how? If not, is that planned as a new feature or will performance counters for VSO cloud based load testing have to be used when support for the
VSO version of application insights is eventually dropped?
    Thanks,
    Luke

Hi Alex, thanks for your response. I do have an Azure account, and have tinkered with AI in Azure Preview. My question was more about what the differences between the VSO and azure preview versions of AI are.
When I initially deployed AI to the azure portal and tried to run load tests from visual studio (cloud load tests, that is) I could not. Its possible I had made a mistake in configuring the azure version of application insights though. Strangely enough,
I actually do still see application insights data in the azure preview portal after I removed the newer AI version and installed AI 1.3.
To clarify my question, is it or will it be possible to run cloud based load tests (using visual studio online or another integrated service) against a azure web role deployed with application insights for azure and get performance counters of the system
under test via AI? To do that, will I also have an application insights application in the visual studio online account (similar to how I do now with the VSO version of AI), because that seems to be a requirement to load performance counters from application
    insights within visual studio.
Thanks and sorry if I misunderstood your answer.

  • I am looking for a load testing tool for my flex application

I am looking for a load testing tool for my flex application having a limited budghet of 1000-1500$. I have gone through NEOLoad,WebUiLoad all are very expensive.

Do you have iPad 1 or 2?
You can connect iPad 1 via a VGA adapter to any projector with a VGA input (all projectors have this).
You can connect iPad 2 via VGA or HDMI.
I like Epson or Sony for projectors.

  • Load testing application

    Hello,
What programs have you been using for load testing a Forms application? I tried JMeter, but I can't get the proxy working for recording (Forms loses connection to the runtime process). Anyone had any success with this?

You need to use a NIO client to drive the server. If you have written the server, writing a client should be much the same.
The reason you need to do this is that if you use a blocking IO client you will need too many threads to ever saturate your server.
We have a NIO based server which supports XML connections between client and server. To give you an indication, having about 2500 connections with upto 10 XML packets per connection per second results in about 2-12% CPU consumption. (Two CPU Solaris) We should be able to handle about 8000 clients per server but are yet to see this in production.

  • Thoughts on Load Testing an AJAX application

Greetings Fellow Empirix users. I am about to faced with the need to begin testing a new AJAX based application and I would like to know if there are any lessons learned or experiences that could be shared from other folks engaged in similar efforts. I am pretty sure I have an idea how I am going to script out the navigation but it seems to me that I am going to need timing right down to actual requests rather than pages. I would also like to know if there is any issue with agent scalability because if I am dealing with a smaller group of requests that happen without user think time because of the chatty nature of AJAX will I need more horse power on the agents because of the requests they need to generate.
Your thoughts and experiences are most welcome at this time!

I've had the pleasure of doing some preliminary performance testing of Ajax applications in a demo/POC mode. Some thoughts:
    - Ajax-enabled sites do nothing "magic". The major difference between an ajax enabled site and a "regular" browser-based application is that:
+ in a browser it's ONLY the browser that makes HTTP requests. As such - it's really easy to see that when I "do something" in the browser it creates a corresponding http (or set of http) requests. When running load tests, all we have to worry about are recording and playing back those browser requests.
+ in an ajax-enabled application it's the browser PLUS a "third-party" application that makes http requests. This third-party application may be the "msxml" ActiveX control, might be a java applet, etc. When running load tests, we now have to worry about recording and playing back ALL of those requests.
    - If we want to properly record "browser based" applications - just doing default browser recording in e-Tester is usually enough. However, with ajax, one needs to enable "proxy" recording in order to ensure we capture ALL http requests being generated by both the browser AND the third-party application.
    - PLEASE NOTE. If you use the proxy to record all these navigations, the e-Tester Script may lose it's "nice" event-to-navigation correlation, making "UI" style playback inconsistent. Since this is a load testing script - make sure you do all playbacks in Navigation Editor Thin Client.
    - Now that we have recorded all of the correct navigations, we have to make sure we play them back correctly. With browser-based apps, correct playback is largely automatic because e-Tester "knows" what UI events "caused" the corresponding http request. With ajax, you may have requests that are - for lack of a better term - "unattached" to any UI events.
+ You may use the Navigation editor to properly parameterize the ajax request. This may be something simple like attaching databank records, or more complex where you have to send a session ID or the like. In my experience, ajax requests are pretty simple in format and may need very little "massaging".
+ make use of "Custom Libraries"! Most applications built by companies have a very few set of things that need to be "massaged". Putting these parameters in the library will allow you to build scripts that are "parameterized" automatically - saving lots of time.
That's all for now - don't want to make things too long.

  • Best load test software for RTMP application

    Hi everyone,
I'd like to run some load tests for my application (AIR 3.4, Flex 4.6). I'm using flex messaging protocol RTMP and I was wondering which software could easily (or not) simulate my Producer job and how.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Fabien

    Hi Fabien,
Have you heard about NeoLoad from Neotys?
It is a load testing tool for Web applications. It is very focused on all RIA’s included Flex and RTMP.
I’m working for the company, and you could think that my opinion is biased here.
I then invite you to have a try yourself and download the trial version at www.neotys.com.
It includes all RTMP and Flex capabilities. You’ll see how NeoLoad makes easy the handling of that protocol.
Our website gives explanation on RTMP load testing, that might be helpful too.
The last but not the least, we’re Adobe partner. Our tool has been designed accordingly to all RTMP requirements. You can go ahead with confidence.

  • Is Controller essential to test application in OATS for load testing

    Hello
Is Controller tool essential to test application in OATS for Load testing?
    Regards,
    Srinivas

    Hi,
Yes. The controller is responsible for setting up the load test scenario, and for initialising all VU's on the agent systems.

  • Our application timeout when load testing after upgrading to OEL 4.8

    Hi,
We recently have an upgrade from OEL 4.7 to OEL 4.8. Our application is running fine on OEL 4.7, but since after upgraded to OEL 4.8, it fails pretty frequently with timeout error when doing load testing (20+ users).
Any ideas what can be the possible causes?
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    -Mina

    You're not giving much info.
If it is networking related, the first think i would check is to make sure the network interface is configured properly. For instance, if your computer's NIC is set to auto and your network port on the network switch is set to fixed, then you will drop packages at high load due to errors on the interface. Those errors cannot be seen from the switch. Set both to auto or fixed, but it needs to be set to the same. Auto is standard and should work unless you have some strange equipment. Also replace the networking cable with a new one.

No standard tool will be able to test your own application
    the way you describe here.
The answer however is pretty simple ; write a simple swf that
can connect (automatically) to a random available instance and let
    it play a stream.
Since you probably developed your application yourself this
    shouldn't be a problem.
Next open 20-50 swf's (in 20-50 browsers) on your desktop.
Repeat on the desktops of your collegues. Open as many swf's
as possible. (if your FMS server is in your LAN otherwise you'll
probably will hit your bandwidth-limit soon)
This will give a very good impression of load, bandwidth and
    stability of your application.
