Loading winRAR music files onto ipod

i ve moved songs from winRAR file to itunes but when i try to load on to ipod it tells me file cant be found and i get ! next to each song.any help appreciated.

RAR is a format for an archive containing multiple individual files. Is that what you have? Use WinRAR to unpack the archive, and make sure you can see the individual files. Add the files to your iTunes library. Then sync your iPod.
Needless to say, this will work only if the contained files are compatiblw with iTunes.

  • HT1351 Loading large video files onto Ipod Touch

My 1st Generation Ipod touch does not allow me to load large size videos. Even files greater than 40 MB cannot be loaded.
Is there a restriction on the file size ?
    Can you please help ?
    Regards,
    Sarwottam

I have found the "Sync" settings from within iTunes. The default setting for "Sync Movies" is set to disabled. Thanks for the help - The device settings were being hidden by an "Apple commercial" for the version 3.0 software upgrade - once I clicked on "Remind Me Later" I was able to see the 8 tabbed configuration screen. I guess marketing trumps usability.
For anyone else who wants to load videos to an iPod: the output from Compressor is fine, and there is no need to do any other conversion.
    Thanks again

  • Is there a way to view deleted music files my iPod once had before?

I thought that since I cant retrieve my 1120+ music files my iPod once had, maybe I can at least see all the music files that were once in it so I can make sure I get every song I had in it back in there. Is this possible? Thanks!

Theres no possible list or record or history of songs that were in my iPod that I can view. Is there a possibility that I can view the corrupted files in "other"?

  • ITunes & Music Files on iPod Nano Corrupted after Update to iTunes 7.0.1

I updated to latest version of iTunes. Now I can't load my music onto it, since iTunes won't recognize it. I have tried all recommended fixes by Support website. So, I looked at the files on my iPod. I can't access either the iTunes file or the Music file. Windows tells me they are corrupted. It also tells me to run "chkdsk".
    Three questions:
    Should I run chkdsk?
    How do I run chkdsk?
If chkdsk fails, can I go into DOS and erase these two files on my iPod? (I think that I can remember how to do that!)

    Hi,
Hahahah, You are using the right word "seem" and in fact I am not a particularly bright guy on the discussions, there are plenty are smarter than me.
Make the long story short, let deal with your issue.
Firstly, make sure you login as administrator (not a guest) in XP, go and download the iTunes from here

  • How to load more music to old ipod, on new computer ...

I think I am SOL but gonna ask anyways ...
For years, when I plugged my ipod shuffle into the computer, it would automatically load a screeen where I could see all my music on my ipod, play, add, delete, etc ...
Son rebuilt my laptop (includes new hard drive, new Window's install, etc) and there is NOTHING of the old left ...
So think, oh, I need to install itunes again ... did that ... but the new itunes program, and my ipod will not communicate ...
Son says I probably have to log into itunes (he doesnt use an ipod) .. No dice ... if I ever knew the info, I dont know now ... Tried every combo of email addy and passwords possible .. nope, not working ...
So question number one is ... Is there any way to access what IS on my ipod to make it work as it used to?
    or
#2 - I have created a new Apple account, but how do I make the itunes program talk to my ipod? Luckily I DO have most of my songs backed up/stored on a network drive...
Please, if you can help, dumb down your response, as I am not computer savvy LOL.

No not without deleting everything on their with a shuffle. Perhaps you could get the music off first and than reload it?
    For windows only
    1) If Itunes is already installed disk use may need to enabled so you can see the Ipod in my computer. Itunes hides your ipod from windows otherwise.
    2) Make sure you can view hidden files. In MY computer go to tools>folder options>view>show hidden files and folders.
    3) Windows should see the ipod and your music should be on your ipod in several hidden folders. To be safe I would copy it all to say your desktop.
    4) Install Itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and the Ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ (if you don't already have it installed)
After that drag the copied folder to Itunes (drag and drop or in Itunes (File>add folder to library)
You may need to authorise your new computer by playing it in the library first.
There are third party software that will let you take the music of for windows and mac.

Installing iTunes and signing into your account has never caused media to magically appear.
Copy the files from the old computer or the backup of the old computer to the new computer.

  • Help!!!! have a 1st gen shuffle and windows xp can't load itunes music to my ipod get error50

Help downloaded i tunes 10 awile ago and now can not get music to load to my ipod from my itunes library...used utility reset to restore to factory settings and still get error 50. Updated to 10.4.1 last night and still getting error 50 I have windows xp and need help on what to do next!!!!!!

If you took the backup of your music that you made from the old computer and compiled the iTunes folder to the new computer your iPod would think it was syncing to the same iTunes Library (it can only sync to one library on auto sync) and would add the music you purchased.
Sounds like you didn't have a backup file. You need to put all the music you had on the old computer on the new computer and then sync it. If it was music you purchased from iTunes download it again, there is no charge. If it was music you ripped from CDs then rip them again. If you don't want to download or rip them again then buy TouchCopy and move the music from your iPod to your new PC iTunes library then sync again.
By the way this is a user-to-user technical support site, I don't really care whether you buy music from iTunes or not.

  • Transfer music files from ipod to laptop

After a nasty virus attack I have had to re-install all the software on my laptop including itunes. Now I need to copy the music files on my iPod back to itunes. I understand that if I just sync the two I'll wipe the iPod because itunes is empty. So, the right way is .... ?? Thanks

    Hello there,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link after the Apple support document below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

    Hey there Ellens1,
It sounds like you are trying to sync your music to your iPod Nano but something is preventing the sync. If you are using the the following process to sync the content:

Now I would like to copy that one album from my IPOD NANO to my current ITUNES on my new IMAC Apple computer.
You can't use iTunes to transfer music from iPod to computer unless that music was purchased from the iTunes store.
If so, see: How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Try iPodDisk. This is a program designed to transfer music from iPod to computer.

  • How do I copy my playlists (not actual music files) from iPod to iTunes

Hello all - I have two hard drives. One for my music files and one for everything else. My "everything else" hard drive crashed over the weekend. This is also where I had iTunes installed. I have all of my actual music files on the other hard drive, so thats not the problem. However, my wife, son, and myself all have iPods - each with its own "playlist". Is there a way to copy the playlist from the iPods to iTunes. I had iTunes setup to automatically update my iPods with any changes to the playlist. Id hate to have to recreate the playlists from scratch.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response, wow, I'm gonna need to take a few days off from work having to email myself 391 times! Appreciate the help

  • 7.0.2 How to view all music files on iPod

I upgraded my iTunes version on my Mac and now I am having some issues deleting songs off a playlist. Basically I have a podcast playlist and then I just have all my music dumped on the iPod not on a playlist. After I had finished listening to a bunch of the podcasts in my podcast playlist I would click on the iPod device in iTunes Source Tree and then I would see all music files on my iPod including podcasts. I could then delete them when I am ready. Now with 7.0.2 if I click on iPod I get the new fancy display showing my iPod Stats and stuff. If I click on my podcast playlist and delete the files it removes them from the playlist but they still actually reside on my iPod and no space is freed. How can I remove files off my iPod now in 7.0.2? I had iTunes 6.0 on a Windows machine and I was able to actually get the files off using the old version but I don't have access to this Windows machine too often so I really want to figure out how to remove files off a playlist permanently and gain access in iTunes to remove any files not associated with a playlist.

Hey thanks for replying. That is the way the old iTunes did it but now any songs I move to my Podcast playlist I don't see show up in my Music category. I was using clicking on the chevron for Music but it still doesn't show any new files placed into my Podcast Playlist. If I sort by date added or modified I can't find them. If I search thru all the songs I still can't find the podcast files. I have an old 3G 20GB, I wonder if it is an issue with them because I can't believe nobody else has this issue.

  • Updating Music Files in iPod

I'm a musician and record my own music. I like to transfer it to my iPod so I can listen to it over and over away from the PC in order to identify any improvements to the arrangement, mix, etc.
Now, the problem I have is that in order to transfer an updated copy of a particular music file from iTunes to the iPod, I have to delete it from iTunes, update the iPod, import the song to iTunes, then update the iPod again. If I don't do this, the old version stays on the iPod whereas the new version is in iTunes.
Is there any way that the iPod can recognise that a particular file has been modified and retrieve that file from iTunes?
    iPod 40GB   Windows XP

Are you using autosync or manual sync mode on your iPod? If you're in manual sync, then you have to copy the song to the iPod again yourself, regardless. If it's autosync, then it will recognize changes to songs. Try changing the name of the song or the album or something like that.
Really, most people complain that iTunes updates songs on the iPod when they don't change, not the other way around.
