Loaner phone during repairs

Does Apple supply you with a loaner phone if your iPhone is found defective and needs to be sent in? For example, some people have reported the touch sensivity degrading and sending the iPhone in for repairs. Or any other issues that causes your iPhone to be absent for a few days.
Does Apple charge you for the loaner? Is it another iPhone so that you can reapply your backed up info via iTunes?
Do you have to purchase a 1yr support contract to get the repairs and loaner phone? What happens after the year is up - are there additional contracts that can be purchased?
Thanks,
Brett

Brett...yes they supply a loaner phone...It is $29 usage fee and syncs up with all of your data through iTunes. They will ship you the loaner and then you ship yours back in the box...all postage is paid for and it is Fedex shipped. They will start evaluating your phone the day they get it. You can track the evaluation on line. More then likely it will be unfixable because they only have 7 day turn around according to the agreement. With that in mind they will ship you a new phone, you do the sim swap again and resync and ship the loaner back. I had mine done in less then 48 hours.
Good Luck!

I sent in my iPhone 6 for repair. I used restore on the loaner phone I was given, and the contacts, texts, reminders, and Safari pages all showed up. My phone is back, and when I used the restore function again, those items are missing. I do not use iCloud because I have no wifi at home, limited data available for regularly backing up, and I have a 64GB phone and don't wish to pay to upgrade from the 5GB iCloud storage. Am I doing something wrong? It worked so seamlessly on my loaner phone that I am completely stumped as to why it will not restore those items to my original phone again.

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service.  Your contacts should be in whatever program/service you have chosen to sync.
If you have failed to do this, then they are likely gone.

  • My lock button on my iphone broke, i have apple care, but will i still have to pay for it to be fixed when i send it in? and how will i get a loaner phone?

The lock button on my iphone is jammed, and i need to send it in to get it fixed. Can someone explain the process to me of sending in your phone to apple? and even if i have apple care, will i still have to pay for my phone to be fixed? if so, around how much do you think this would cost? im not familiar with apple, so any help would be great! thanks!

If your phone was damaged by you  or in accidental damage, then you would be liable to pay for the repairs.  Apple does not offer "loaner" phones, but if you have a credit card, they will "advance ship" a replacement to you so you can get it, then return your damaged one to them and as long as they get it back within a resonable time and it is warranty covered damage, they do not charge you for the replacement iPhone, but they do charge you a fee for the advanced replacement option (about $40-80 USD IIRC).
You can eliminate all the at by making an appointment at a local AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) and they should be able to check your iPhone on the spot.  It it is covered under the warranty, they shoud replace it for free right there, and if not, they would let you know and you have the choice to make the repairs or not.

  • I have a loan phone but I can't restore from iCloud as the software isn't up to date on the loan phone

I have just got home from the apple shop where I gave my phone in to be sent off for the sleep awake button repair. I have a loan phone from the shop but I've just found that the software isn't up to date like my phone is and so can't update from iCloud.
Is there any way I can get round this at all?

Obviously lol! ...it's ok I'm sorting it my way

  • Loaner Phone Program

I have always loved Best Buy. In the past 2-3 years, we have bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff from here. We had a house fire and had to replace all of our electronics. This would include phones, televisions, computers, tablets, Kindles, Bose systems, gaming systems, appliances... and the list goes on. Today, I was really disappointed with the customer service that we received at the Wichita Falls, TX location. This has been our main store for years, and we have almost always had wonderful service here. But I am concerned about all of our warranties and insurance plans after today.
My husband took my son's phone in to be replaced and pick up the loaner phone that we have been paying our premiums for the last year and a half. This is when we found out that they no longer offer the loaner phone program. Now mind you, the loaner program is the reason that we choose to pay the extra money (avg. $8 per phone a month) over coverage through our carrier. Mind you our carrier covers lost and stolen phones which Best Buy does not. We drove over 60 miles one way to get this loaner phone only to be turned away empty handed.
I called the store and asked for the manager and was in turn sent to the assistant manager (Greg (removed per forum guidelines). He was somewhat polite, but not completely. He did not have answers to all of my questions and when I was insisted on an answer, his tone and answers were somewhat smart!!! After i was unable to get answers from him, I asked again to speak to the manager. At this time, I was directed to David (removed per forum guidelines). I voiced my opinion and told him that I did not agree with the fact that no one was notified about the changes to drop the loaner program. He then tried explaining to me that this was not a part of our coverage, that this was a in fact something that they provided above and beyond to their customers. I told him, and I firmly believe that this was in fact coverage that we paid for. We were sold on Best Buy insurance with the Loaner Program being the biggest incentive to us. (Even over the cheaper, coverage that included lost or stolen phones that was offered through our carrier.) (Note: If I had known that Best Buy no longer offered the Loaner Program, I would have cancelled with Best Buy and taken insurance through our carrier. Even after paying the deductible for the carrier coverage, I would still be in the black $150 or more.)
I am left without a phone until the replacement comes in. Very Disappointed in Best Buy and with the Wichita Falls store.

    Hello MMB,
Even if I’m not by my phone, it’s a sure bet that I’ll come running should I hear it ringing. It’s difficult these days to get by without a working phone, and I’m sorry for any frustration this may be causing for you and your family. Our Geek Squad Protection (GSP) plan is intended to give you peace of mind should something happen to your phone; you can receive a working device without having to buy a new one at the full retail price. While some aspects of the plan have evolved over the past couple of years, the basics of the plan have remained.
With phones underneath our GSP plan, our current repair process is called Rapid Exchange. If you have a damaged or non-working phone, it should be sent out to service via your local store. To save our customers valuable time, a service order is simultaneously created from our service provider to ship out an already repaired phone. These phones go through a rigorous refurbishment process to make sure that you receive a phone meeting its manufacturer’s standards.
Prior to this though, we used to repair an individual’s phone rather than order a refurbished replacement. This was quite a lengthy process (usually two weeks), and it left our customers without a working phone for a long time. As we realized this could cause unintentional stress for customers, we created our loaner phone program as a type of courtesy service. As our manager, Greg, mentioned this program was complimentary and wasn’t provided underneath your GSP plan.
While the decision wasn’t made lightly, our loaner program wasn’t deemed necessary since switching to our Rapid Exchange process. This is because you should be able to keep your phone while waiting for the refurbished phone to arrive from our service provider.
It sounds like your son’s phone might not be in working condition though, and I’m sorry you’ve found yourself without a working phone. To help, please know that we do have a wide selection of No Contract phones available for purchase here should your son require a phone in meantime.
    Respectfully,

  • TS4036 How do I restore my iPhone 4 loaner phone back to July 2013? It has restored to March 2013... I never recieved the option to restore it to July 2013 when I connect to the wifi at home.

Last week I had to recieve an iPhone 3S loaner phone. The guy at the counter restored it partly (expect for apps); it worked like a headach and I exchanged it for an iPhone 4. He handed it over to me and said I could restore it once I was home. I go home, connect to my wifi, and nothing happens. I am unable to restore it so I plugged it into my laptop to restore from iTunes. It restores it from March 2013... I would like to have the newest backup as possible. I have tried to reset it to Factory Setting, taken out the SIM Card. And recently did the 6.1.3 Software Update.
    Can anyone help me please!

If you restored from itunes, then you got the newest backup it had.  Are you sure you didn't back up to it recently?  Maybe you were backing up to icloud.  The two are different.

  • Problems were encountered during repair of the partition map.

I had too much time on my hands yesterday and I decided to try to remove an unused kernel extension that I saw in my EtreCheck report. The kext was for the PACE iLok, for Pro Tools, which I no longer use. I found the item that was installing the kext and removed it, and EtreCheck reported that the kext was gone.
Some time after that I was troubleshooting another issue I have with Mavericks (shutdown time: my shutdown time with ML was almost instantaneous; with Mavericks, it takes about 12 seconds.), and I used the recovery partition and Disk Utility to repair my HD and permissions.
DU reported that my usual boot volume was OK, and permissions repaired on it without problems.
When I have DU look at the drive itself, it reported: Problems were encountered during repair of the partition map.
And then, in ominous red text: error: live file system repair is not supported.
I tried repairing again, and also got this message: The partition map needs to be repaired because there's a problem with the EFI system partition 's file system.
I tried a few things to get these error messages to go away. I booted with a DiskWarrior disk and it was unable to do the repair.
I did a little reading about the EFI partition, and in Macs it appears to be a partition related to firmware updates.
My mac has not had any symptoms at all during this, aside from the slower shutdown.
Even so, I did not like the idea of a partition that could not be repaired on my HD, so I did a clean install. Seemed to work, DU reported a healthy drive and volume.
This morning, as I was preparing for a TM backup, I ran DU again, and the error messages were back. Not good.
This time I tried TechTool, and it was able to repair the HD from the TechTool eDrive (TechTool's version of the recovery partition).
I've looked in these discussions and there are some mentions of these error messages, but usually in the context of failing hard drives or drives that must be erased and the OS reinstalled.
I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me, what these error messages mean, why they are occurring, and if I can just ignore them. My internal HD is not a stock Apple drive, but a Samsung SSD that I installed some time ago, and which otherwise works fine. My current suspicions are that either:
there is something inherent in Mavericks that creates some problem with the EFI partition map over time, which then shows up in the error messages in DU
or there is some incompatibility with this SSD and Mavericks that creates the same error messages.

i had bought iphone 4 from singapore and now i am relocated to india.....there is some hardware problem in the phone due to which i m nt able to use it.....how do i give the phone for repair and in which country?

The warranty is not international and only available in the Country of purchase .If the iPhone is out of warranty  Apple or their Agents will also only give service in the country of original purchase.
So if you want Apple help you will have to return it to Singapore or find a 3rd party to repair it if they can in India  as long as it is out of warranty and you understand that Apple would never help with that device in future if it has been opened by a 3rd party

  • Fee for a loaner phone?

why does apple want to charge me for a loaner fone when they want my original to fix? why dont they pay the fee?

I have noticed that it is situational, some seem to get charged and others do not, although lately more do then don't. What is it being sent in for to get fix?
Someone here once said this and although there is no solice in it they used this reference.
"You bring you car into the shop to get fixed, these days it is rare that you get a loaner car during this period, unless insurance gets involved..."
