Local printer management --Spooler Issues--

Trouble: of the 3 production printers on a local machine 1 to many of the printers may have a Job get stuck in printing for some unknown issue. Clicking cancel job / Delete fails to remove the Job from the List. At this point i am forced to Kill the Print
Spooler and restart it.
Want to have From Wscript.Shell or VBS: for each printer with a Que Count >1 Find the First JobId with a bad status delete this and Copy the remainder of the PrintQue content to a Local "Temp" location use a CancelAllJobs() method, then Replace
all the Content back into the printer Spooler for re-issue.
Thoughts?
Thanks

I would investigate the root cause of why certain print jobs cause a problem.

  • Printer spool issue with HP LaserJet 1018

I seem to be having a recurring problem with the HP LaserJet 1018 that I am hoping someone has also had and can help me resolve.  When I go to print I get a message that I need to set up a printer (it does not recognize the printer is there).  When I click on set up a new printer, I receive a message that the local print spooler service is not running.  Nothing I do seems to solve the problem.
This happened to me with my previous 1018 printer.  The exact same thing.  I had a second 1018 available to me that I connected and it worked just fine for about two months and now is doing the same thing as the first.
I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC with Windows 7 (64 bit) operating system.  I previously had a Dell with Windows XP that the first printer worked on for a long time (maybe 2+ years).  I got this new computer within the past six months and both these printers stopped working while on this computer.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

We have 7 computers on a local network 3 of them have local printers 2 and are brand new Vista equiped. we shared the local printers on the vista machines but they are unaccessable from one vista to the other... it works from an XP to a Vista, but not from a Vista to a Vista.... go figure.... When we try to add the printers, the error message that we get is: "windows cannot connect to the printer. the local print spooler service is not running. please restart the spooler or restart the machine."
    I would appreciate any help...
    Thank you

    This worked for me.  GP
Problem : error 1075 and Local print spooler service is not running.
problem description : I have a Lexmark x4270 all in one. I installed the driver for it in my new laptop running Vista. Turns out the driver is not for Vista but XP. I uninstalled the XP driver and downloaded a Vista driver from Lexmark. When I try to run the printer software I get a message "Local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine." I tried all of that. I have looked this problem up on the web and it is quite common with Vista. Many of the "solutions" say it is a problem with an incomplete removal of the incorrect printer driver and they show how to correct in the registry. I am not comfortable tinkering with the registry and thought I'd consult with you first.
I tried "everything" I could to fix the problem of getting "error 1075" fixed in my HP laptop running Vista.  HP came up with simple solution below.  The regedit part is what fixed mine.  I did not need the safe mode part.  I think Lexmark should add the solution to your knowledge base.
    ==============================
From HP:  Please perform the below given steps in safe mode to resolve the issue.
Reboot your notebook and press F8. The system will show some booting options select safe mode.
Note: Starting computer in safe mode may take some time.
Uninstall the printer using Programs and Features from the control panel of your notebook.
Uninstalling any software from Control Panel :
    1. Click on Vista (start) button
    2. Click on control panel
    3. Double click on Programs and Features
    4. Click on YOUR Lexmark Printer  and click on remove.
Download and reinstall the printer software using the below given link :
    http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:438:0:0&searchLang=en&os_group=Windows%20Vista&target=
NOTE:  Clicking the link may give an error indicating it is invalid.
Copy and paste the entire link in a new browser window.
After the installation of drivers, restart the notebook into normal mode. Now plese check with printing any document. If the still persists then perform the below given steps :
Click on Vista (Start) button, and type Regedit.exe in search bar
    Navigate to the following branch
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Spooler
In the right-pane, double-click the DependOnService value
Delete the existing data, and then type RPCSS
    Close Regedit.exe
    Restart the computer.
    This should resolve the issue.

  • Issue with ALV grid print preview/spool

    Hello everyone,
I am working on a report and I am having some issues with ALV grid. Currently in our DEV and QA environments the user can run the report, view the ALV grid, and print the grid without any issues.
However this isn't the case in the Prod environment. The user is able to run the report and view the grid without any issues. But when they click print preview or click print, the spool is incorrect. It shows the proper values from the grid, but the first field is reduced in length. Rather than showing a numeric field of length 10 it shows 99999999# or 99999999...
The programs are identical through every environment, including user parameters, formats, and spool settings. I have been told printing grids may have some issues, does anyone have any advice or dealt with this issue before?
    I appreciate the help.
    Thanks,
    C

I was waiting to hear from the functional team on the matter and no one has mentioned any more issues.  I am assuming the problem is solved.  I just noticed the thread was still un-answered and wanted to give an update.
Thank you for you help Vijay.

my photos are not printing right with adobe manages color but works when i use printer manages color. never had any issues untill a week ago.

We use CS6, yes we calibrate using x-rite. I have always had adobe manage colors when printing. This problem just occurred, all my settings are the same as they have been for years. The only thing we did lately is do an update to CS6. We thought it might be our printer but when we use the printer manages color it works fine, The problem with adobe manages color is it is not blending the light highlights like on top of the cheeks with the colors around the cheeks  and its putting a faint red between the two it just does not have a smooth transition. I printed a photo that I had printed 4 months ago with no issue, and this time it had the issue that I am dealing with now. Somehow the photo shop manages color is not getting the right info to my printer.
    I set paper type
    set quality
    no color adjustment

  • Printers not showing in Print Management on Local Server

Fresh Server 2012 R2 VM on Hyper-V setup as a print server only.  It allows me to add printers and they show up in the Control Panel in Devices and Printers, but they don't show up in Print Management under server (local). Ports and drivers show up.
If I connect to it from Computer Management on my Windows 7 machine the printers show up.
Any ideas what would be blocking the printers from being viewed?

  • All printers missing from Print Management

Okay, so I have a weird issue.  I am running Windows Server 2008 Standard SP1 on my local workstation and used to be able to fully administer all printers in our company via Print Management installed as a feature from Remote Server Administration Tools > Role Administration Tools > Print Services Tools.  One day earlier this week, I lost this ability.
All printers literally disappeared.  I can still see drivers, forms and ports, but absolutely no printers.  However, within printers inside Print Management, I can still add a new printer although I cannot see it - but know that it has been added successfully by consoling the respective print server and tested it.  I also am still able to see all deployed printers (via GP) and can still deploy those that have previously been deployed.
Nothing has changed in terms of security rights (I am a Domain Admin), firewall settings, or Windows Updates.
The print servers that I connect to are all on the same subnet, and are running Windows Server 2003 R2.
I've tried removing and re adding the Print Services Tools in Server Manager and tried updated Windows Media Services 2008 via this link.
I cannot find anything out on the web indicating a similar issue,  so I am hoping someone on this forum may be able to help.
If this is a known issue, I must of overlooked the post, so please post the link for me.
    Thank you,
    Bob

    Hi,
As far as I know, most printer object missing issue can be caused by the printer pruning. This feature is an thread running inside spoolsv.exe on the Domain Controller. It will periodically check if the printer object is valid. After trying several times, if the object always considered as invalid, DC will remove this object form AD.
To disable printer pruning, we can simply disable spooler service. The only impact is the printing function on DC is not available. But, all the client and printer server will not affected. Client can still search object in AD.
The following are two policy related to pruning:
    1.      On DC, run gpedit.msc and locate Computer configuration/Administrative Templates/Printers
    2.      Make sure all the pruning related policy is set to disabled
Disabled the policy "Allow pruning of published printers"
Enable the policy “Directory pruning interval”, and set the interval to Never

  • Counter Sales - Printing Receipt in Local Printer?

    Dear All,
We have a Counter Sales scenario. We are using Quick Sale Order for that.
We have around 14 branches in Dubai, Abhudhabi etc.
When a customer comes to a counter, the sales person will book the order and print a invoice on a preprinted stationary in a dot matrix printer which will be located in each counter.
Our issue is the time consumption of printing in the local printer as the every time a request is run, it will go to the server and comes back.
For example, when a person in Abhudhabi prints a Receipt, the request will come to Dubai ( Since the server is in Dubai) and will print in the local printer.
Is there any way to increase the speed of the printing request?
    Regards
    Merlin Rajesh

The data in the invoice/receipt/order will always have to go from the server to your local printer across the network. Whether direct to your printer from the server, or through your client PC then to the printer.
If the time consumption was inherently caused by the network, you would probably be having serious performance issues.
So my guess is that you are submitting a job to the concurrent manager and the time delay is the time from when you submit the request to when the job actually starts (and completes) then spools to the printer, with the main delay being it waiting in the queue of pending requests. Otherwise it may be how long the print requests are taking to run.
So you need to confirm where problem lies. Check this via the Date Submitted, Date Started and Date Completed on the current request.
If the time delay is between the Date Submitted and Date Started then you could define a new concurrent manager specifically (and only) for handling the print jobs that are time critical via System Administrator > Concurrent Manager > Define (copy the Standard Manager), and create specialization rules that only include your print concurrent programs (Invoice, Receipt). Then on the work shift, change the sleep seconds down to a low value (say 5 or 10 seconds).
PS. An alternative way to do this could be to create a "form" or front end component that gives you the report/format you need in real time, and print directory from your local machine ... but thats gonna take more than 5 minutes to create ;-)

  • Very Urgent! Print Report output to local printer on button click in form

In Sales Order Form there is a print receipt button. In current situation On Clicking the 'Print Receipt Button' it submits a XML Publisher report(PDF output) to the concurrent manager. Currently to print that report i need to go view--> requests--> view output and then print. According to my new Requirement i need to print that report directly to local printer on one simple Print receipt button click in form.
I am trying to call the printers on server using custom.pll. The report is running successfully but it is not printing output to the local printer. I need to print the report to the local printers based on responsibility. Local printers are available on apps server. Can anyone help me on this issue ASAP.
Is it possible to print the document using custom.pll? Is there any other alternative to print the report on simple button click in form.

I need to complete this requirement immediately. Can anyone suggest me better ways in doing this.
    Thanks,

I solved this problem myself using shell script through custom.pll. I wrote shellscript and called that shellscript through FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST.It printed 2 copies to local printer.

    Hi Nicolas,
To avoid problems with SAPLPD you can print the PDF using the control technology.
    Please read the SAP note

  • Print Management Console displays no printers after applying Windows Update for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB2995388)

After installing optional Windows Update for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB2995388) on a print server upgraded from Windows 2012 to Windows 2012 R2, the Print Management Console wouldn't display locally shared or remotely shared printers. Another print server
could see the printers on this server, but it couldn't see it's own. Removal of the patch resolved the issue.

    Hi,

  • Unable to print to local Printer over RDP - Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
    Windows 2008 Foundation R2.
Started to have issues with printing to a Local printer over RDP.
The problems started on Friday 11th April. The only possible issue I can identify is that around that time LogMeIn was updated on the server, including the LMIPrinter DLL's.  I have contacted Logmein for instructions on how to uninstall LMI completely
and followed these but am still experiencing the problem.
When attempting a Test Page print the confirmation that the Test Print has been sent to is displayed and the print appears then disappears in the Print queue but nothing appears on the Local PC print queue or event logs.
    On the server the Event Log shows the following error;
The document Test Page, owned by admin, failed to print on printer Canon MG7100 series Printer (redirected 2/copy 1). Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 142691. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\ONESTAGE-TS01. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 2147500037. Unspecified
    error
I have searched for possible solutions to RDP printing problems and where relevant implemented them but no change.
I have access to a second customer who uses RDP and am able to log onto that and print to my local printer so am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the local printer or settings.  On the Server with the problem the problem affects all RDP users
and all printers (including Adobe PDF printer and MS XPS printer).  All printers are defaulting to the EasyPrint Drivers.
Grasping at straws I think the LMI update has banjaxed something with the RDP remote printing and an LMI uninstall hasn't fixed it.  Is there a way to reinstall the RDP Printing?  Would uninstalling & reinstalling .NET have that effect?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
What’s your client OS and RDP version in your environment?
First of all suggest you to run “sfc /scanow” with this link to check whether which file causing the issue. Check the RDP version on the RDP client computer as well as the .NET framework version with respect to the operating system used (as explained above).
Also verify that the RD Session Host / Terminal Server role is installed if the host computer is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008.
The setting “Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first” must be set to “Enabled” for Easy Print redirection, and it has to be “Disabled” for Legacy Print. For “Not configured”, Easy Print is chosen by default.
Check The Remote Desktop Configuration Tool (tsconfig.msc) settings to ensure that the “Windows Printer” option is not disabled (it is not disabled by default).
Make sure that the “Printers” check box in the client (mstsc.exe) window on the “Local Resources” tab is checked. The corresponding setting in the associated RDP file is “redirectprinters:i:1”.

  • Print Management on remote machine shows no printers

I can't seem to figure this one out. We have a new Server 2008 R2 print server with what will be nearly 400 printers installed. The Help Desk, in the past, has had to manage printers by logging into the print server (when it was a 2000 server). With the server upgrade and the HD switching to Windows 7 we were looking forward to the Printer Management Snap-in. The issue we are seeing is that when even a domain admin (admin on the print server and the remote machine) adds the print server to Printer Management on Windows 7 the ports, the drivers and the forms all show up but the printers never do. Is there a firewall issue involved or something that I can look at to try to figure this out? I can tell you that all printers are physically on a different network and only the server can access that network and of course the HD machines and the servers are on different VLANS with aggressive server firewalls in-place. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That is possible.   Let me summarize your current configuration and you can correct me.
Server 2008 R2 print server, Windows 7 client machine monitoring the print server.  Server is on a network segment and there is a Firewall layer between the helpdesk clients and the print server.
Currently the printers are not displayed in PMC but you see forms, drivers, and ports.  When this happens the client spooler has gone into a polling mode since the server spooler was unable to connect to the client.  On Windows 7 the RPC port the spooler uses is not a specific port but one in a range (I don't know the range).
Once the spooler is in polling mode you will need to stop and start the spooler on the client after making the firewall changes.
Is there a Server 2003 machine (or XP) in the same network as the print server?  The reason I ask is Server 2003 will only communicate to the client over the SMB ports  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc787076(WS.10).aspx
If you can add a shared printer on that machine and view the printers then it's a matter of tracking the blockage to your other network setting.  If you can only see forms, ports but no printers then there is a client setting blocking anonymous connections to the client.
The remote Server 2003 name will appear as a MACHINE$ connection on the client in the Shared Folders MMC snapin.
I'm assuming you have already reviewed this technet article and have setup print driver isolation.  Be sure to review the print server delegation feature to configure your helpdesk administration.  I thought there was a grid explaining all the settings on Technet but I was unable to find it.

  • Lightroom images that have saved to disc printing at store issues

Without having a printer of my own, can anyone help when printing images from lightroom, that we have collated onto a disk and taken to a local camera store. The images are so much darker than what is shown on computer. I have seen many threads about changing your own specific printer settings, my issue is when printing from one of those "do-it-yourself" machines..
    Any help would be appreciated...

In general you need to use sRGB jpegs for those, so make sure you export to that. Anything else will usually end you up with weird colors as these things in general do not color manage. Secondly, make sure you calibrate your display correctly. Generally you should use a hardware calibrator for that. The exact type is less important than that you use one. Lastly, your display needs to not be set too brightly. Some calibrators include a facility to calibrate your display to a correct brightness. Most displays need to be around 2/3 of the max brightness. Very last, make sure you turn off any autocorrect features on the kiosk thingie.
