Locale Installation: Is reboot necessary?

After installing a locale on a server, the install "Status" message says:
"A reboot is not necessary for the changes to take effect."
Yet the install log ominously proclaims:
"WARNING: Locale changes MAY NOT BE FULLY AVAILABLE until the server has been restarted!"
So is a reboot necessary to activate locales or not?
GTG

Hi Ross,
Yes, u need to restart the server.
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cucm-phone-locale-installers#CUCM_User_Locale_and_Network_Locale_support
Do locales need to be installed on every Node?
Yes, Cisco Unified Communications Locale Installer MUST be applied to each and every Cisco Unified Communications Manager server in a cluster, starting with the publisher. After installation has completed, it is essential to reboot each and every platform in order for all user and network locale changes to become fully activated.

For version CCM 5.1.2, can be updated with version 5.1.1 of locale to installer?
If a new version of locale is necessary to installer, somebody it has some forecast of date?
    Thanks!!!

It should work. I've installed Polish locales cm-locale-pl_PL-5.1.1.1-1.cop.sgn with CCM 5.1.2 and 5.1.3. Both versions work without any problem.

  • To change a domain installation to local installation

    Hi,
To give you a little background,
We currently have two instance of SAP R/3 running on a server, ECC 5.0, 6.0, Oracle, on Windows.
Our organization was recently acquired by another company, because of this we had to go for a domain change.
To change the domain, system copy is procedure used. I have used the R3load procedure to
perform an export of the existing systems.
While this was happening, I am also working on another issue, with SAP's support, for this purpose, the said server
is currently in a DMZ to be exposed to SAP's support. According to our network guys, we do not have domain controllers
in DMZ, the server has to be a workgroup(if I understand it correctly, its local authentication). To enable this I would have
to use the export I had taken to do a local installation. This is just until the issue gets resolved, once that is done, server
will be moved out of DMZ and into the domain again. At which point, I would have to redo everything back into the new
    domain.
This local installation has to be performed on the same server, by uninstalling the current SAP installation.
I have read several posts, regarding database copy, database restore. I am a little confused.
Below is a post where Markus suggests, database copy,
Re: Copying a Domain installed SAP System to Local Installed SAP System.
    My questions are,
    1. Even though I am fairly confident, the export was a success, Can I use the existing database setup, since
it is on the same server?
    2. If I have to uninstall the existing system, it is my understanding that I would install the central instance as
a local installation and restore the db, How do I restore database for Oracle? I have looked for a relevant doc,
    unsuccessfully.
    3. The issue that I am working on with SAP's support, is related to webservices, where in we are trying to call
an external webservice from SAP, I am a little skeptical, if the functionality would remain the same after a local
installation, can somebody shed some light on this as well?
    Thanks,
    Vishnu

    Hi dude!
To answer to the main question here: you are right, the supported method to change a domain (and this would include a change from domain to local installation or vice-versa) is, as you already know, to perform a system copy ( homogeneous system copy if the platform remains unchanged under the conditions of [note 547314|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/547314]). You can refer to [SAP note 1233320|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1233320] to get further details.
However, let me explain that an export with R3trans is not necessary if the system copy is an homogeneous one. Using a database-specific procedure (e.g. attaching the MS SQL Server database files to another SQL Server engine) is faster by far. You can search for notes on the suitable procedure specific for your database (these will be in the component BC-DB-*, e.g. BC-DB-ORA for Oracle databases). Suggestion: look for "system copy" or "database copy" in the BC-DB-ORA component for your particular case.
In order to get further information on all this, please check [System Copy and Migration homepage on the SAP Developer Network (SDN)|System Copy and Migration]. In that page you will find also a direct link to the [Installation Guides|http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw]; the link is referred as System Copy Guides, from which you should follow your SAP release (e.g. SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s)), then press the link plan and install (under the Installation section)
and finally, navigate to the section in which the PDF System Copy guides are (in this example, press 2 - Installation - SAP NetWeaver Systems to display the guides, and download e.g. the +System Copy for SAP Systems Based on NW 7.0 SR3 ABAP + Java+).
If you read the System Copy PDF document very carefully and do not dismiss to check the referred notes, this will be as easy as a pie!
    Cheers!!

  • How to impleament Single Sign On on local installation Server

Hi, we installed ERP.60(ABAP + Oracle) on Windows2003 by local installation.

  • Locale Installation Order with Pub/Sub

    Hi,
I'm installing CM cluster 4.2 (1 pub and a few subs).
Wish to apply user/network locale for the cluster.
    Documentation recommends
    1. Install Pub
    2. Install Subs
    3. During non Business Hours
3.1 Install locale executable on pub at first.
3.2 Install the same executable on the subs.
3.3 Reload all the servers in the cluster.
    4. Apply installed locale value where applicable (e.g. phones)
My question: is the following possible ?
    1. Install Pub
    2. During non Business Hours install locale executable on the pub and reload the server (cluster contains only pub)
    3. Apply installed locale value where applicable (e.g. phones)
    4. A few days later install subscribers in the cluster (1 or more)
    5. Then run locale installer on the subscriber servers the same way as for pub, reload then.
A little silly question IMHO, but I am in doubt.

    Hi Tobivan,
This is actually an excellent question (not silly at all :)
This method shouldn't cause you any unforeseen problems. This is the same way it would happen if you were adding new Subs to an existing cluster somewhere down the road.
    Have a great day!

  • CUCM locale installer packages

Yes, I know this is a very dumb questions.
I am not seeing a locale installer package for CUCM v10 that is united states. I see multiple other country packages. Am I missing something here?
Also, I was told to get the Cisco Part Number for this as well, would that be the file name or something else?
Thanks for your help, and sorry again for the dumb questions.

    Hello ghuguenin,
I apologize that you are unable to access the United States installer package; I can't seem to access it either. However, there are a few other options you can consider:
You can install the United Kingdom or the Canada installer package here.
Another option is to install the combined installer package, which is also available on the webpage linked above.
    I hope this helps!

  • MDM Server : NetWeaver installation is not necessary?

I have been assigned in a project which will require the usage of MDM for ironing data information between our Siebel and SAP system. I have got the information that in order to install MDM server, NetWeaver installation is not necessary.
I guess this is correct but from your experience, is it also recommended?
The installation will be on Linux with ORACLE DB.
    Thanks in advance,
    Loukas

    Hi Loukas,
if you want to use MDM, you (at least) need:
    - a Database Server, Oracle is fine
    - the MDM Server
    - MDM Console for Repository maintenance
    - MDM DataManager for viewing data
    - MDM ImportManager for importing data
    - MDM Syndicator for exporting data
You definitely do not need the whole Netweaver stuff - no application server or anything like that. However, if you want to integrate MDM into your system landscape, SAP XI is recommended to act a a message broker between any system and MDM. I don't know the requirements of XI.
You can run MDM Server on a single machine, together with the database and all the client tools can be on different machines.
I hope this helps. If you need further information, we'd need a more specific desciption of the requirements.
    Best regards,
    Martin

  • Is a reboot necessary after a kernel upgrade? [SOLVED/Answered =)]

Hey folks, longtime arch user (since ~2006), first time registration/post.
Just a dead-simple question: is it necessary for me to reboot my Arch systems after 'pacman -Syu' kernel upgrades? I've always done it out of sheer habit coming from a WIndows Sysadmin world where every darn update needs a reboot.
    Thanks in advance.

Wow, thanks y'all for the fast replies. Sounds like my instincts were right .
I have to say I'm blown away by the reliability of this Linux distro. Like I implied, my day job has for years required me to interact with Windows client & server OSes on a daily basis, and the level of random issues/headaches that crop up in that ecosystem is rather astounding. In contrast, I've had as of yet zero problems with my 2 Arch servers. I've had the same essential configs since the first installations of them years ago, and barring a couple reinstalls due to hard drive failures they've been smooth as silk the whole time. Kudos to that.

  • Windows 8.1 installation first reboot 0xc000007b ntoskrnl.exe missing or contains errors

I'm trying to install Windows 8.1 (with updata 1) using UEFI on my Intel DP45SG.
Starting up the installation by using UEFI works fine, but after the files have been copied and the system reboots I get the following error code: 0xc000007b ntoskrnl.exe missing or contains errors
I've tried reformatting my USB stick and recopying the files, as well as re downloading the installation files but this hasn't resolved the problem.
Is there anything I can try to fix this? Perhaps give some commands in the commands prompt?

    Hi Gi,
It might be caused by changes in Windows 8 PnP in which Boot Start Drivers are not installed by default.
    Please try following
the instructions as mentioned in the KB aticle.

  • Order of installation and reboots using smpatch/updatemanager

Using updatemanager it tells me it has installed a certain set of patches and that others require a reboot and will be installed then - fine. I can then download and install further patches as long as any dependencies are met.
But if I download the patches using smpatch I get an information file telling me the order in which patches should be installed and where reboots are needed. Here's an example:
    patchpro_dnld_2006.07.24@17:47:18:EST.txt
This patch bundle was generated by PatchPro.
Please refer to the README file within each patch for installation
instructions. To properly patch your system, the following patches
should be installed in the listed order:
    1) 120887-06
    2) 118557-05 !!! IMMEDIATE REBOOT !!!
    3) 122027-04 !!! IMMEDIATE REBOOT !!!
    4) 122856-02
Now my reading of the above is that I should install 1) then 2) do a reboot, install 3) and do a reboot then install 4) - as that is the listed order. And if I don't do this then I have installed the patches properly
But running smpatch update it installs 1) and 4) straight away and reports that 2) and 3) will be installed at next reboot:
    Installing patches from /var/sadm/spool...
    120887-06 has been applied.
NOTICE: Patch 118557-05 cannot be installed until the next system shutdown.
NOTICE: Patch 122027-04 cannot be installed until the next system shutdown.
    122856-02 has been applied.
And at next reboot there is only a single reboot and both patches are applied.
So what's with the instructions in the patchpro* file? Are these just overly conservative guidelines or what?
    Thanks.

If patch 4 is not dependant on either patch 2 or 3 then there's no problem installing it before either 2 or 3.
However sometimes I have seen an error:
ALERT: Failed to install the patch {0} xxxxxx-xx
which I believe means that the patch has a dependency on another patch which can't be installed because it needs an immediate reboot.
After doing the reboot you might find that you can go back and run in these extra patches which caused the error the first time around.
Just my interpretation for what it's worth.
    john.

  • Remove Read Mode Hovering Toolbar from Local Installation

You can just jump to the below red colored question if you don't want to read the supporting description.
I prefer to read PDF documents especially long ones in a non-disturbing manner.
More like in a clean look that is trending with cleaner designs in MS Office, Win 8, and others.
Here is an example of kind of view I am talking about that I would like.
We can get up to this point with few simple key stokes, Ctrl+H (Read Mode) would hide your side navigation tab and your main toolbar.
F9 would hide your Menu bar. Now all you have is the title bar, scrolling bar, and the bottom highlighted hovering toolbar.
Granted that yes you can move around the hovering toolbar by simple dragging and that it fades in-out but with any mouse movement it appears back on.
Yes its useful for controls, but if I want any I can just press Ctrl+H and/or F9 and it will bring me all the controls necessary.
I can use full screen mode yes for removing all the excess visuals and purely focus on the document but I can't select text or do any other things unless I come out of the full screen mode, which then destroys the purpose of clean look bringing back to normal look.
    QUESTION
How to remove the Hovering Toolbar from the read mode?
We are not talking about embedding setting in a PDF so that it would do that on any computer but configure my local computer's Adobe Reader so that every time I go into read mode I wouldn't have to see the above highlighted hovering toolbar.
If there is some simple setting to disable it that's great, if I would have to do some destructive work and remove code/files to get rid of the hovering toolbar that's fine too.
    Thanks.

  • Security Precautions, Local Installs, And Excessive Privileges.

I have a few questions regarding security for my laptop.
First of all, any applications, plug-ins, etc., which are in the root level "Library" or "Applications" folder are allowed to run with admin privileges by default. There is absolutely no reason why this should be the case. Apparently, Apple decided to throw caution to the wind and assume no one would ever target a Mac for malicious purposes. How can I revoke admin status for these applications without moving them to another folder, where they wouldn't be easily accessible to every user account on the machine?
Secondly, the Installer program built into OSX is only capable of a "standard" install for every user and always demands root privileges before installing anything. How do I configure it to install only for the one user account it's running in, and without receiving admin or root privileges? If I get a program that's not drag and drop, I'm stuck manually ripping open installer packages and trying to extract the various components myself, which can be a bit of a pain. I would think there'd be some way of installing software that comes in an installer package without giving it root access; neglecting this feature creates a security hole of ridiculous proportions.
Thirdly, I'm not sure how many people have heard of Wowd, but it's a locally-installed facebook "app" of decidedly dubious origin, possibly involving an active trojan. Obviously, it came in an installer package. The Installer program, naturally, asked for an admin password to give Wowd root privileges. Installer wouldn't perform a local install without giving it root access, and the Wowd installer package was missing its "show package contents" item in the right-click menu. I was able to crack open the installer package with a program called Pacifist, and extract just the program; there was nothing else in the installer package, which seemed like it was just a ruse to convince people to give it root access by running through the Installer. Once the program was extracted and installed on a privilege-restricted account with nothing valuable on it, and deprived of admin access, I figured it was relatively safe-ish to run. Upon running, Wowd opened Safari; specifically, a Safari window pointed at http://localhost:8101/wowd/?tray on my local machine. While Firefox was sitting on the desktop of the restricted account, Safari was still sitting in the root level applications folder, which allowed it to run with admin privileges due to the bug described in point #1 above.
So, can any OSXperts here tell me whether Wowd was able to escalate itself to admin status through Safari and do who knows what to my machine? (Please do not inquire as to why I was playing with a live trojan.)
And can anyone tell me how to restrict admin privileges to the applications that really need them? The kind folks at the Genius Bar didn't have a clue how to accomplish this task, and were having trouble figuring out why I even wanted to.

First of all, any applications, plug-ins, etc., which are in the root level "Library" or
"Applications" folder are allowed to run with admin privileges by default
I'm not sure why you think so. Are you referring to the permissions on the /Applications folder itself, which are:
    system - Read and Write
    admin - Read and Write
    everyone - Read only
These permissions mean only that an admin user can write to the /Applications folder (i.e. can save a file there), and that all users can read from the /Applications folder (i.e. can run apps from there). Those permissions don't say anything about the privileges that an application has when it is running.
Applications generally don't run with privileges of their own; they run with the privileges of the user account that is running them. For example, the permissions on the main /Library folder (HD>Library) are
    system - Read and Write
    admin - Read and Write
    everyone - Read only
Now suppose you are running TextEdit from the main /Applications folder, and you create a textile and try to save it to /Library. Whether you can do it or not depends on the user account you are running from. Since members of the admin group can Read and Write to /Library, an admin user running TextEdit will be able to save a file there. A standard user, however, has only Read privileges to /Library, and so a standard user running TextEdit will not be allowed to save a file there. This is exactly as it should be. The write-permissions of the /Applications folder are irrelevant in this regard.
