Localhost is not working

HI Guys,
We have multisite application with two urls
If i use one of the url then i am able to run application properly
ex :http://xxx.com:8080/contextRoot
but if i give the url like this http://localhost:8080/contextRoot then i am getting
Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to localhost:8080
this error
why its happening like this
if i want to access with localhost what  we have to do

SiteManager creates sitemap based on siterepository, So u don't need to worry mapping.
The reason we use default site, so that If something goes wrong,we will atleast have one working site.
for default site : atg\multisite\DefaultSiteRuleFilter :
               defaultSiteId=mystore
               enabled=true
for site mapping : If u wish u can provide url mapping too(No need) in atg\multisite\URLPatternMatchingRuleFilter
          URLs=\localhost:7001/shop/mystore=mystore,localhost:7001/shop/mystore2=mystore2
Enable virtual context root service so that ur virtual context root can be recognized by ATG. MUST DO for multisite
               \atg\dynamo\service\VirtualContextRootService enabled=true
Most common error: site is not enabled, change the property in siterepository.
Now also if it's not working Provide see the logs :
atg\sitemap\SitemapGeneratorService
Try to debug the issue with logs, It will always be helpful.
Thanks,
Nitin.

  • Localhost access not working under Leopard

When I attempt to set my browser to a URL like:
    http://localhost/~AllenW/UnityByAW/index.html
I get a message telling me, "Forbidden: you do not have access to blah-blah on this server."
Yet, if I boot back into Tiger and try the exact same thing, it works fine. Same user (AllenW) in both cases. I have no other trouble with file permissions.
    Any suggestions, anyone?

This one had me losing some hair for a while, too, but I got it running again, after of course doing everything recommended here -- the problem seemed to be that apache was looking for its log directory, and there wasn't one. (I figured this out while trying to read the ErrorLog, which should have been the first thing I did, but live and learn.)
So, in the finder, Go > Go To Folder, and type /private/var/log.
There should be a folder called apache2 in that directory. If there's not, that's a problem (although I wouldn't dare assume it's the only one).
To make sure, check out the system log by double-clicking on the file in the directory called system.log. When I did that with the web server (supposedly) running, I saw this:
Jan 4 20:42:32 Hatter org.apache.httpd[1028]: (2)No such file or directory: httpd: could not open error log file /private/var/log/apache2/error_log.

Jan 4 20:42:42 Hatter com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
over and over, every ten seconds, for as long as the web server was active.
To fix that, just create that directory. Turn off the webserver, then from terminal:
    mkdirhier /private/var/log/apache2/
    and restart the webserver.

Since you upgraded the Router WRT54GS with the latest firmware so once reset the Router and power cycle the whole network… Then connect the Modem with Linksys Router on the Internet Port and then connect any one computer to any one of the Ethernet port on the Router [Numbered – 1, 2, 3 and 4]… Let me know the RCN connection is a DSL connection or cable connection…

I get an error message, in both Safari and Firefox, saying that I cannot make a connection to the server. This is similar to other threads in this section except for the following:
    - I do have a /var/log/apache2 directory
    - I did a chmod 755 on the directory
    - the directory is empty
    - http://localhost does not work
when I look through a list of my tasks (on the Activity Monitor), I don't see anything related to apache so I'm wondering if my Web Sharing has not initiated the apache server.

You shouldn't see any apache items in Activity Monitor. I've got web sharing on, and I see a bunch of httpd processes in Activity Monitor. Try repairing permissions on your hard drive. • SRV2008R2 SP1: Software Protection Service failed to start. RDP not working

    Hi folks,
I'm currently working on an issue on a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Hyper-V Host where RDP from one moment tio the other does not work anymore.
After an investigation I found that the Software Protection Service can't be started. The following events are recorded every few minutes:
Event ID: 1001 - The Software Protection service failed to start. 0x80070002. 6.1.7601.17514
Event ID: 7023 - The Software Protection service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
I searched and found a lot of possible solutions which are shortly listed below:
I have confirmed that the sppsvc.exe file exists and has the proper permissions. Also replaced the file with the same file from another 2008R2 server
Checked the spldr start value via HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\spldr. This is 0 which should be fine.
Checked the sppsvc paths and settings via HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sppsvc. All are correct.
    SFC /Scannow + CHKDSK /r
System restore is (off course) not available
Tried to reactivate the server by recording a different product key. Did not work.
Removed the last batch of Windows Updates that were pushed towards the host. We believed it was caused by this but since you don't always need a host but only the VM's hosted on it it was a while ago since we logged in.
Local firewall enabled and disabled. Also
Netstat does not show any listening ports for RDP (3389)
Changed the port to 3390 but this port is not visible as well
Also RDP from the affected machine to localhost does not work
Since I can't find any more options in fixing this issue I'm wondering if someone else has some ideas which I can try. Otherwise a reinstall needs to be done.
    Hope to hear from you

    Hi,
Based on your description, I noticed that you have tried lots of ways to solve this issue. On current situation,
would you please let me confirm more details?
Type services.msc in RUN to open Services. Then navigate to Software Protection service. If start it manually, what error message will get?
I’m not sure if RDP issue was caused by the Software Protection service. So, would you please let me know the complete error message when RDP didn’t work? Meanwhile, please
open Event Viewer and follow the path: Applications and Services Logs-> Microsoft-> Windows-> TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager and TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager. Please check if can find more clues. Those may help us to go further analyze
    RDP issue.
    Please
perform a clean boot and check if this issue still exists.
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sockets work on localhost but not remotely?

    hi there,
I have created a simple multithreaded client / server program.
The Server listens on port 2222 for clients. When a client connects - the client sends its ip address to the server and then disconects. More than 1 client can connect at the same time to the server and the server also listens continuasly. I have 2 problems with the program...
    a) the programs work on localhost but not on remote machines? (Well not over my LAN anyway).
    b) I am getting 2 lots of 'datain' when the server recieves an ip address from the client when the client should only send it once.

    http://www.projectg.dsl.pipex.com

In your client you are creating two sockets (why?). One connected to localhost, the other connected to the host specified using readLine.
If your client runs on the same machine you have started your server, you have two connects to your server instead of one.
The ip adresse is sent using the socket connected to localhost. That is why it does not work on remote machines.
    Hope this helps.

  • Localhost not working with firefox 7. How do I get it to work with wampserver

used to be able to access localhost via wampserver but firefox 7 just shows a blank page??? I looked at control panel->internet properties but local host is set as exception. Running XP Pro OS.

Your statements don't seem to go together.  To the best of my knowledge `lpadmin` will not run as a command unless cupsd is running.  You can either use `lpadmin` or stop cupsd and then manually edit the Printers.conf file.  I would recommend using `lpadmin`.
I am not sure what you put in for "command".  I presume you specified the page limit.  Did you also specify the job quota period?
I had no problem settin a page quoto as a test.  I set a page quoto of two pages each hour.  My command was:
    lpadmin -p EPSON_Workforce_1100 -o job-quota-period=3600 -o job-page-limit=2
I then restarted cupsd to make in case the lpadmin command did not cause it to restart:
    sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.cups.cupsd.plist
    sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.cups.cupsd.plist
I was able to print two pages.  The third page gave me an error while printing message.

  • Localhost not working

When I try to access localhost using Chrome (or Firefox, Safari, etc...) I get the below response:
Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 127.0.0.1
I have confirmed my apache server is running. I have checked blogs, forums and other sites and still don't have a solution that works. I've accessed it via nano through Terminal and added 127.0.0.1 localhost, but it either says no such directory exists or brings me to the finder window, prompting me to open a file (which obviously can't be found).
I have OSX 10.8.2.  I'm trying to learn PHP and MySQL but I'm struggling with my first class because I can't get through these basic setups on my Mac.

Used those already to try and get it fixed, still not working. Is there something really simple that matters? I did have to add the username.conf file as it wasn't present, including the code (obviously with username replaced).
    <Directory /Users/username/Sites/>
    Options Indexes MultiViews
    AllowOverride All
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    </Directory/>
I also had to add the index.html file (with Hello World text), as it was missing as well.  Is there some other file that is assumed to be present that might be missing?

  • Not working on localhost

I have set up an XML Dataset. It works fine online, but when
run locally, the page is empty. I saw a similar post where the
newer version of SpryData.js uses ActiveX for IE7 locally, and
thought that would solve the problem I replaced this file with the
    newer one that that contains...
// Try to use the ActiveX version of XMLHttpRequest. This
    will
// allow developers to load file URLs in IE7 when running in
    the
    // local zone.
I thought this would solve it, but it didn't. I also tested
in Firefox on localhost. Doesn't work there either... but again, it
works online. There should be no differences from online and
localhost. The XML feed runs locally and online, so this is not the
problem. What else could the problem be? Any thoughts?

I'm using a Mac Book Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
Using Xcode I tried to test my app and found an alert box saying a string 'localhost' was not found. Tried to ping localhost and found that the DNS can't resolve this domain. I don't know if it's related but since a few weeks ago I can't use network printers hosted on Windows computers. OS X sees the workgroup and list computers but when I try to connect it throws an error telling the IP is wrong or the connection is lost.
Even stranger is the fact that ping can resolve localhost. (with the dot at the end).

Check the hosts file (/etc/hosts). It should begin with this:
