Locating Documentation

The URL http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/parser_java2/htdocs/relnotes.htm
contains the following sentence:
Important note: Documentation for Oracle XML Parser for Java is located in the doc directory in your install area.
However, I cannot find any XML documentation in either the doc or the install directories
for my 8.1.5 Oracle installation. Surely this documentation came with the product. Does anyone know where this documentation resides? Is it on the install cd or my Oracle install directory?

All the XML documentation is online on Technet only at this time. Thanks.
By the "install area" it's referring to the "doc" directory of the XML Parser for Java distribution. The doc is supplied with each component and is available online as well.

Cannot locate documentation

I am referencing one of your white papers (paper 40032) titled "Rapid Deployment of Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g: Install and Configure in 5 Easy Steps". Under step one, it states that "Administrators should use the Planning Guide chapter of the Oracle Enterprise Manger Installation Guide to determine the hardware requirements ". I cannot locate this document anywhere on OTN. We are in the process of installing Grid Control in a test environment but would like to have access to this "Planning Guide" when it comes time to implement Grid Control across our Enterprise.
Please advise.

From the "Documentation" pulldown menu (on any OTN page), select "Enterprise Manager." Then click on "View Library" on the subsequent page, and then on the "Documentation" tab. That will take you to:

I am not being able to located documentation for the the business package for EH&S. Anybody who can help?

Any Error Message Documentation?

Took Oracle course "Dev. DB Apps w/ Java". Am reviewing w/ Practice 2-1 #7. Applet compiles but get "Cannot determine runnable node" when I run it from with JDev.. What does this mean? More to the point, where can I locate documentation to find out for myself?

Pro*C/C++ Documentation

I have been attempting for some time to locate documentation for the Pro*C/C++ utility. I need to create a command-line C application which will access Oracle.
This strikes me as an incredibly common requirement. It is also incredibly difficult to locate on your site.
I downloaded the Oracle Development Suite for Oracle9i. This included the Pro*C/C++ utility. No documentation was provided with the tool, and the help menu item is useless.
This seems like a defect in your web site. Pointing me to appropriate documentation would be helpful. Fixing your website so that this information is more accessible would also be helpful.

Locator: failed to read USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA view

Hi again,
i tried the step-by-step explanation about oracle locator, published on http://www.oracle.com/pls/xe102/to_toc?pathname=appdev.102%2Fb28004%2Ftoc.htm&remark=portal+%28Getting+Started%29 (thx to roberto)
i don't know how to explain this simple, but i will try:
1) creating the tables work fine (stores, customers)
2) creating the metadata didn't give an error
3) creating the spatial index gave me this error

next, i tried to delete the specifiek record in user_sdo_geom_metadata. answer:

the weird part of all: i tried all these steps in the SQL-command-bar, which is on my database home page.(home >sql>sql commands) that's also where i get the errors.
when i try the same steps in SQL plus, the record is added to user_sdo_geom_metadata and i can create spatial indexes?!
can someone explain me what i do wrong, and why i can't create spatial indexes on my database home page?
I hope I explained my problem clear enough, if not, please ask me some questions.

Greetings - I found the excerpt below in the Locator documentation (the link was provided in your previous post), in the first chapter. It doesn't describe why you can't use the Express Edition SQL Commands, only that you must use SQL Plus. Anyway, I thought you might be interested in seeing it, as it appears to confirm your experience ...
"Note:
You cannot use the Express Edition SQL Commands or SQL Scripts features to run a SQL script or enter a SQL statement that creates or requires a spatial index. You must instead use SQL*Plus, such as by selecting Run SQL Command Line from the Express Edition menus, and connect as a database user that has the Create Table privilege."

Remote Desktop (Terminal Services) Configuration on a Server Standard 2012, standalone installation

I'm new to this, so bear with me..
I need help locating documentation on how to configure a Server Standard 2012, standalone server, to act as a terminal server. In server 2008, you could have the server as a domain controller, and also host remote desktop sessions for thin clients. Apparently
a lot has changed with 2012, and I don't think I'm even using the right search terms because I having a time finding proper information.
I'll be glad to provide whatever further information is needed for someone to help me..

10.1.2.0.2 DS Report Server

Win XP, Reports 10g (10.1)
I'm trying to locate documentation on how to create a Report Server on my development box within the 10g Developer Suite.
Using rwserver -install server=local batch=no autostart=no. I get a message about "consult install guides". This worked in prior release.

Running Reports Server as a Windows service: Instead of running the Reports Server as a Windows service, configure and run the Reports Server through Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN). Crystal 2008 - New Page Setup options - need explanation please

I have been unable to locate documentation on the new Page Setup screen for Crystal 2008. I am specifically looking on detailed documentation about the following check boxes:
Printer Options:
     No Printer
Page Options section:
     Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size
Margins section:
     Adjust Automatically.
Can someone please detail for me these options. I'd like to know why I would use them and how do they work when combinations of them are selected. I am most interested in the second option (above), but would like explanations about all of them.

I do not think the No Printer option is valid for us as our reports are not web based.
Does the Adjust Automatically apply to the reports as they are run from a runtime client? or does this just adjust for design mode?
This is why I am asking about the 'Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size'. It sounds like this is the setting we may want to check when creating our reports before we distribute to runtime clients.
Here is why I want to know.
We develop our reports to fit 8.5 inch x 11 inch paper. We distribute our reports to our clients along with the runtime merge modules. We have a VB.Net 2005 program that our non-vb.net software application executes in order to print the reports (using the Crystal for .NET methods, etc.) from our software application.
Some of our clients are in Europe. They use A4 paper. We have re-designed some of our reports so the fields will fit within both paper sizes (8.5x11 and A4). However, we have over 500 reports we distribute, so we have not modified all reports. Therefore, prior to Crystal XI, we recommended to our runtime users that if the data on the report did not fit on the A4 paper (it was truncated), then they need to go into the printer properties (from the printer dialog box...these are users running the report, not developers) and change the report from portrait to landscape before they print. This would print the report landscape with data across 8.5", and then white space on the right/remainder of the page, but all the data would print, nothing truncated. After we installed Crystal XI, using this option of selecting landscape at print time, no longer worked. The report would print with the orientation in which it was created (in our case portrait) regardless of what the user selected from printer properties.
This is why I am asking about the 'Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size'. Can someone at SAP elaborate on this please?

Need opinions / benefits of previous experience - PD and external document repository integrations ....

We are using PD in support of our EA Program. Current efforts have been focused on getting started from a zero base and working on ensuring we have a consistent baseline for the 100(ish) business systems that this effort encompasses. This has largely been an exercise in locating existing (mostly dated) documentation, finding out that there are waaaaay more knowledge gaps than we originally expected, and authoring models to create a common baseline of knowledge aligned with our TOGAF based metamodel/framework. We have been developing baseline models for business areas and systems that encompass business process, application architecture and infrastructure architecture (all at higher levels more appropriate to EA overviews).
Anyway ..... along the way there have been boatloads of challenges locating documentation that is most often squirelled away in places where only a few people have access or it has been forgotten all-together. One of the next steps we are considering is consolidating and applying some mgmt and governance to the feeder knowledge. This knowledge would NEVER be considered for re-factoring/recreation in EA models and I estimate is about 5000 documents in various formats. I would like to complement the EA Repository (in PD) and our framework with an enterprise knowledge/document mgmt repository.
Ideally I would like to integrate the two at some level. In my ideal world (where the sun always shines and the people are all pretty!), I would see a document mgmt (DM) system where supporting docs are managed. Some of the classification metadata used in PD is applicable in DM. An integration in PD for pointing to External FIles managed in the DM would be present. PD would have custom scripting to pull/synchronize DM metadata for individual documents.
I would like to hear if any of you have tried or heard of someone trying to do something similar. If so, how did it turn out?
A couple notes:
1. I know that I could try to use PD as a sort of DM. Some work at scripting and creating a few extensions for the DM metadata framework would do the trick in the short term. However, I believe that I should be looking for tools suitable to the job and not try to make PD into something it is definitely not designed for. Unless you have seen an enterprise-scale usage of PD for something like this, I am probably not all that open to this path (that being said I am open to being convinced by strong argument/evidence).
2. I think this place has some sort of enterprise licensing in place for Documentum so any experiences with that would be particularly interesting.

As you say yourself It's not a good idea to use PD as a sort of DM.
Documentum has a tool for automatic classification. Content Intelligence Services. CIS allow to enables automatic classification and categorization of content in the Documentum repository. Its benefit is well organized, classified, and categorized content. With CIS, content is parsed and analyzed and classification rules are applied. The results of the classification can then be used for categorization as keywords to populate content metadata. The capability of automatically creating keywords to populate content metadata remove the burden from end users who otherwise have to do it manually.
That being said. So in Documentum documents are classified. In PD you can copy / paste the URL in one or more of the following objects fields (Comment, Notes/Description, Notes/Annotation) to the documents in Documentum. So you only have one authoritative source. From models you can double click on the link to go directly to the latest version of the documents in Documentum.
Do you want to import into the PD clasifications documents, keywords, made in Documentum?

What is the syntax for a CASE statement in Crystal XI

I'm having difficulty locating documentation for the use of CASE statements in Crystal syntax. My database administrator does not allow me to write SQL expressions so I need to covert the SQL below to Crystal Syntax. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much!!

Let's assume column XYZ has both numbers (1), and letters (any alphabet).
I have a case statement on SQL to turn any value that's not 1 into 0, then I am getting a sum of that column.
I am also grouping by Row A, B etc to get aggregated sum of column XYZ for those group.
Now on Crystal Reports function, I need to sum up values under column XYZ for all the groups.
If I try using sum function like below, I get an error stating:
"A number field or currency amount field is required here"
(sum({Command.XYZ}))
So I thought if I can use a case statement to change the non-numbers to 0 prior to sum that will probably resolve it. But I could not get the below case statement to work either (Error: A string is required).

WSDL contains wrong HTTPS port

Hi All,
I am publishing a WSDL from an ICO (Integrated Configuration) object. The WSDL contains two URLs, one for HTTP and the other for HTTPS. All good so far. Unfortunately the URL for HTTPS refers to port 50001 when it should be using 443. I have used NWA (nwa_ssl) to confirm that the HTTPS port is actually 443.
How can we influence the HTTPS port in the WSDL? Where is this configured, any clues?

I know the URLs can be influenced when publishing the WSDL, but was wondering if the actual default setting can be influenced so I do not have to change the port when publishing:

Need .h file for x86 and x64 functions in clsernat.dll

We need to bypass the NI Vision Acquisition/IMAQ serial level and access the CameraLink serial layer directly for a custom baud rate.
The clsernat.dll is present but cannot locate documentation for the exposed functions in clsernat.dll. NI did not include a .h file or documentation regarding the typedefs for the following functions :
clFlushPort
clGetErrorText
clGetManufacturerInfo
clGetNumBytesAvail
clGetNumSerialPorts
clGetNumSerialPortsAtIP
clGetSupportedBaudRates
clSerialClose
clSerialInit
clSerialRead
clSerialWrite
clSetBaudRate
( Reasoning- IMAQ will occasionally validate the camera file and change the baud rate. The end result is missmatched baud rates corrupting the serial data channel.)

Appologize for the earlier typos. (Was responding through a browser on a touchscreen phone.)
The baud rate in this particular case is 57.6K.
The camera link cl serial interface will work fine all day communication at 57.6K using the MFG's test utility (when the camera file has the default baud rate of 9.6K.) The NI document which also confirms this is a viable speed for the 1428 is http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/359CC1956ABBB6F3862575A500674FEC and 57.6K is a listed speed for the 1433 board.
What is strange is other manufacturers provide the c++ header files, libs, and the required dll but NI only includes the dll in the IMAQ package. (Especially since NI provided an early implementation to the Camera Link working group with these files.)

Deploying Firefox 7 with default user preferences?

I am having a hard time locating documentation for deploying Firefox with default user preferences (such as disabling automatic updates, setting a homepage, etc.). I located information for previous versions which mention of adding a user.js file to the defaults/pref folder. But this doesn't seem to work.
What is the proper way (if one exists) to customize Firefox for deployment in an enterprise scenario?

And people wonder why FireFox hasn't made much of a dent in the enterprise. This says it all......
