BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST
Parameter type
String
Syntax
BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST = {pathname | directory}
Default value
Operating system-dependent
Parameter class
Dynamic: ALTER SYSTEM
Range of values
Any valid local path, directory, or disk
BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST specifies the pathname (directory or disc) where debugging trace files for the background processes (LGWR, DBWn, and so on) are written during Oracle operations.
An alert file in the directory specified by BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST logs significant database events and messages. Anything that affects the database instance or global database is recorded here. The alert file is a normal text file. Its filename is operating system-dependent. For platforms that support multiple instances, it takes the form alert_sid.log, where sid is the system identifier. This file grows slowly, but without limit, so you might want to delete it periodically. You can delete the file even when the database is running.

  • Is it possible to change the location of the Oracle logo

I need to change the location of the Oracle logo in home page from left to right side. We tried to edit in common .css and failed. Please help.

The logo is in it's own table cell - so css will not work (can't change the order of table columns using css). You could possibly replace the logo image on the server with a single white pixel (create a custom skin if you want), then add a new background image to the table (class is HeaderTopBar) aligned right and no repeat using CSS. You would need to pad out that right side somehow to make it align (the last cell has class HeaderPageStatus and contains the status image).

  • Physical location where the soa jar(ex sca_SomePrj_rev1.0.jar) is uploaded

    Hi
I had configured SOA environment in my system.
I just want to know what is the physical location where the project soa jar is uploaded to the weblogic.
I could find the jar in deploy location of the workspace, but that jar is uploaded somewhere during deployment in the weblogic domain or somewhere. Where is it?
I searched my entire domain, but could not find it out.
Is it jar'ed into some other jar, or by any chance, uploaded to the soa related tables in db(as a blob)?
    Regards
    RaviKiran.

    Hi Kalyan,
    Thanks for the reply.
What I mean is, say a composite has a bpel component, a mediator and some xsd/xsl files.
Now, all these are made to a jar, and deployed to the soa server.
What I want to know is, after deployment, where can i find that xsd/xsl/.bpel/.mplan file that I used, in the server?
Like in a webapp, they are uploaded to a particular file directory. In case of SOA, where are the files loaded? Is the jar loaded as it is and exploded at some location in the server, or, are the individual files uploaded to particular places in the server directory structure?
Because, I've searched for these files in the server physical location, and i couldn't find any(except one wsdl per composite ). So what i thought is, they were uploaded to the db schema soa_infra as blobs.

  • Oracle 11i API's

    Hello all,
Can anybody say whether Oracle 11i suite of applciation come up with new API's instead of conventional interface tables to import legacy data.
If yes, appreciate if somebidy can point me
    to right place for documentation.
I looked at 11i documentation, it doesn't seem to be any new API's other than standrard interface tables.
    Syam.

Look in the Oracle Manufacturing APIs and Open Interfaces Manual. Both the table-based APIs and the new process APIs are documented there.

  • Oracle Maps API and ADF

Tried posting this on the Mapviewer board, but that group is d-e-a-d.....
I'm trying to build an ADF application using JDeveloper around the Oracle Maps API.
I don't have a lot of experience with either, so this is probably an easy one.
Does anyone have an example of using a panelStretchLayout with the div that contains the map? I've been fighting for several hours trying to get a map that auto stretches when the user expands the browser window. I tried putting the div that contains the map in a panelGroupLayout, but I can't seem to get the map to resize when the browser resizes. I've read the rules about when a panelGroupLayout is strechable, and when it isn't.
Is there a best practices for this? Seems like anyone building an ADF app around the Maps API would need this.
As always, thanks for the help

    Hi !
I came accross this tutorial in Oracle website.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/dvt/gant_chart_pivot_table.htm
In my case I could not make the adding a map part work and got geoencoder connection error but maybe I am missing a point which you may solve.
    Hope it may help.

  • I need to install servlet-api.jar in the libext folder.

Hi I am doing a tutorial on struts 2.0.11.
i need to install servlet-api.jar in the libext folder which I have created inside WEB-INF
Now I have downloaded servlet.api which is in the zip form.
When I extract the files. Its giving me two folders
    1. javax
    2. META-INF
Inside javax there is a folder called servlet. Inside servlet folder there are
    a) bunch of call files
    b) http folder
    c) resources folder
    Inside http folder there are
    a) class files
    b) properties files
Inside the resources folder there are
    a) dtd files
    b) xsd files
Inside the META-INF folder there is the manifest.mf file
    I just need servlet-api.jar
I think that I have extracted the contents of servlet-api.jar by using the extract feature of winzip.
Do you think that by just changing the extension of the file from servlet-api.zip to servlet-api.jar it will do the trick or do i need to do something else.
    Please guide

    Hi ^^,
your replies were very helpful. I did try to check the lib folder of the webserver and there was not servlet-api.jar. However I downloaded a dummy project and it did have servlet-api.jar in it, so I am ok for now.
    thanks and regards,
PrashantYou should not be doing that. Always use the one from the application server which you're going to use. Otherwise you will possibly get in runtime trouble due to version differences.
The actual location and filename of the servlet API might differ per application server implementation. If it was for example Tomcat 6, it is the servlet-api.jar in the /lib directory. If it was for example Glassfish (the current release), then it is the javaee.jar in the /lib directory.

  • After LOADing .jar file in to the oracle database  some classes r invalid

Hi I have a .jar file to load it into the oracle database 11g.
I use load java to load the .jar file.... I dont mention any resolver so I assume that all the .class files inside .jar are loaded as the schema user objects . Eg: if my schema is SCOTT they are loaded as SCOTT objects .. correct me if iam wrong because i see these lines on a site
Many Java classes contain references to other classes, which is the essence of reusing code. A conventional Java virtual machine searches for classes, ZIP, and JAR files within the directories specified in the CLASSPATH. In contrast, the Oracle Java virtual machine searches database schemas for class objects. With Oracle, you load all Java classes within the database, so you might need to specify where to find the dependent classes for your Java class within the database.
All classes loaded within the database are referred to as class schema objects and are loaded within certain schemas. All JVM classes, such as java.lang., are loaded within PUBLIC. If your classes depend upon other classes you have defined, you will probably load them all within your own schema. For example, if your schema is SCOTT, the database resolver (the database replacement for CLASSPATH) searches the SCOTT schema before PUBLIC. The listing of schemas to search is known as a resolver spec. Resolver specs are for each class, whereas in a classic Java virtual machine, CLASSPATH is global to all classes.*
When locating and resolving the interclass dependencies for classes, the resolver marks each class as valid or invalid, depending on whether all interdependent classes are located. If the class that you load contains a reference to a class that is not found within the appropriate schemas, the class is listed as invalid. Unsuccessful resolution at runtime produces a "class not found" exception. Furthermore, runtime resolution can fail for lack of database resources if the tree of classes is very large.
Now my question is that.... why are some of the classes becoming invalid... ?

after loading class i see some additional characers prior to class name when i query user_objects and object_type='JAVA CLASS'

  • What are the Oracle Home and GRID home directory locations for Oracle 12c (12.1.0.5) release

    Hello All,
I plan to install and configure Oracle 12c Cloud Control console on a single standalone server and the version is Oracle 12.1.0.5. All the databases which are installed across in the entire farm/landscape are these versions:
    Oracle 10.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 10.2.0.4 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.5 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 11.2.0.1 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC Enterprise Edition
All Oracle databases across these versions will use the same version of Oracle Grid since ASM is used for all the Oracle database across Production/Test/Development databases. The OS is RHEL 5.8, RHEL 6.3, OEL 6.3 versions.
When installing the Oracle 12c Cloud Control what is the Oracle and Grid Home directory location need to set to. Please let me know if there are any other additional configurations needed?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
    Regards,
    Abhijit

First off, the only EM CC release out right now is 12.1.0.2, not sure where you got 12.1.0.5 (DB Plugin maybe?).
Second, you're confusing EM CC homes with DB/Grid homes.
EM CC will need it's own Oracle Home (i.e. /opt/oracle/product/em_12.1.0.2).   You will need to provide repository database connection information, but EM does not care what home the db or grid is installed in.
I would recommend reviewing the documentation as well as the references on OTN -

  • Unable to locate the LMS's API Implementation-Error in Content Player

    Dear Guys,
when I am playing the content in content player of Authering environment we get the following error "Unable to locate the LMS's API Implementation" ,
Should any API be implemented explicitly?
How can we resolve this error?
    Regards,
    Shamila.

    Hi Shamila!
As I mentioned, you need to consult your content developer to debug this issue. In the course content(i.e. flash file) there are references to the SCORM API. These when imported in to AE loose the reference. For instance, if you have something like this .. parent.api.<some scrom function> and the parent (window or frame) has the SCORM API. This reference might be getting broken when the course package is imported in to AE. The content developer need to make changes in the code to ensure the reference to the API is changed.
Please let me know if you require further guidance on this.

  • Forms 10g and Java 6 - Howto place the oracle .jars?

    Hi,
I would like to compile a sample Forms Java Bean with standalone Java ( not with the JDeveloper IDE )
and the source starts with a lot of import oracle classes in jars.
My java install is like this:
    JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_11
Could you indicate where I should place the Oracle jar files in order to have javac to recognize them?
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi again,
I'm not advanced enough on these topics to clarify.
Things have changed in the meantime here.
At the moment we are looking into using 'web_show_document' with an html page containing javascript.
There is a discussion on the 'talk2gerd.blogspot' that indicates what to set in formsweb.cfg and forms.conf in order to use javascript.
Still getting a browser written as a Javabean to consult entreprise documents from a Forms client would be a nice bonus.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • Is changing the name of Oracle JDBC Driver JAR legally valid?

    Hi,
I understand that it is legally fine to bundle Oracle JDBC driver JAR along with the applications. However, is it also legally OK to change that JAR name and then bundle it with the applications? Information on any legal implications which may need to be addressed is highly appreciated. I read through the licensing information and following is some excerpt:
    You may not:
    +<...>+
    - remove or modify any program markings or any notice of our proprietary rights;*
I'm thinking if changing the JAR name either removes or modifies any program markings...
    Thanks in advance...

    2. I suspect the agreement allows you to rejar the classes. Which allow you to put it in any jar that you want.
As with the other poster I don't see the point either.
