Locking items

Hi,
I'm adding pages to a document but I want to keep some items on de master page (I don't want them to be put on the real pages).
The "V-lijn" is a vertical line and the footer is a group of objects that form a footer on each page. Sometime I need to change the footer, but all the items on the master page get copied onto the "real" pages, so I have to correct each page.
Can this be avoided?
I'm working in CS5 windows XP and javascript. Below a little portion out of the script

Figured it out myself, I have to use the scriptslabels instead of giving the name in the layers palette.

How do I lock items in a bin so that sequences can't be launched, clips cannot be bent, folded or mutilated? Ideally, can I lock a bin up so it can't even be opened? (assistant editor is going to capture a bunch of tapes for me and I want to eliminate risk of anything being disturbed) thanks.

Sorry... sarcasm caused by frustration at my current edit job.
I've never come accross, or heard of any locking feature in the Browser of FCP. I think it would be unneccessary... well, seeing as you brought it up, i can kind of understand why it might be handy for a short-term solution to keeping Bins safe... but...
I think the safest way is as Jim said, just start a new project for the assistant and get all the new tapes captured to it and then copy them over into your master project.

How can I get rid of "locked items" in Trash?

I am deleting old Time Machine files from my external drive, using my MacBook Pro (2007) to do it. I've been doing this for several weeks, but now when I'm in Trash and click "Empty Securely" I get this message: "There are some locked items in Trash. Do you want to remove all the items, including the locked ones, or just the unlocked items?" Regardless of whether I click on "Remove unlocked items" or "Remove all items", the process stops almost immediately and the Trash remains full. What might be the "locked items" and how can I get rid of them?

You might try restarting and then try to empty the Trash.

Locking items on a slide

caption were inadvertently moved a smidge, it would look odd. In
this case, it's a wonderful thing to be able to lock objects on a
slide. This prevents accidentally clicking and moving them when you
didn't intend to.

Can I lock items at favorites bar?

It happened to me a few times that I accidentally dragged bookmarks from the Favorites Bar while opening Safari. I opened it and wanted to drag the browser window to a location and accidentally dragged such a bookmark from the Favorites Bar, resulting in that 'poof' cloud and I had to see which bookmark I dragged out of it to add it again.
Isn't there some way to lock bookmarks from the Favorites Bar? Just like I can lock items from the Dock? Some Terminal command?

to lock the dock run the following commands from the terminal
defaults write com.apple.dock contents-immutable -bool true
killall Dock
Make sure you press enter after "killall Dock"
To unlock it change "true" to "false" in the above. Also, I believe Onyx http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html
provides a UI way to do it if you are uncomfortable with using the terminal.

Is There A Way To LOCK Items To The Dock (to prevent accidental drag off)

Is there a way to lock items to the dock to prevent accidentally dragging them off? Every now and then, I'll accidentally drag something I just meant to click (really, I click too hard while moving my mouse) and I'll see a POOF as the icon disappears... which means I have to dig for it in the finder and replace it. D'oh!

Locked items appearing in MD04

Hi everyone,
When I run md04, locked items are appearing in the Requirements List. Someone can explain why? Is that normal?
What I can do to hide this items from MD04?

yes this is design that locked POs are still taken into account by MRP and MD04.
Locks are short term solutions to clarify things and restrict further processing for a little while, but not meant to be used like deletion indicator for long term.

Held purchase requisitions are not MRP relevant. Held purchase orders are MRP relevant.

Locked items in transaction LQ02

Hi all,
I'm trying to execute a posting change for items in quality but when I run the transaction LQ02, the status of the materials in the list is 'Locked Item'. And with this status, I can't continue with my transaction because I cannot select the line items. I tried using the Block/Unblock quants transaction LS07 but nothing changes.
Any advice on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Once I posted this I saw "More like this" on this topic. the answer was right there:
As you select "Empty secured trash" hold down the Option key. I kept holding it down (don't know if that was necessary) until it deleted several files (got past where it usually kicked me out). Now it's still deleting files!

why are they locked? who locked them? should I lock all my files? how to unlock all my files? how do I find each locked item to unlocked them? yes, I'm very angry with some features I find on my mac, every day.

Generally items that are locked by default should be locked so they are not unintentinally changed To open a locked item, "Get Info" (cmd-i) and click the padlock to open, you'll be asked to enter your admin password and it will unlock.
What are you trying to unlock and why would you want all files unlocked?

Previously, I could make an order form for salespersons of a client to use to take orders on the Ipad. Because there was a workaround in place of the standard "lock cells" in normal spreadsheets: I could cover the cells with a transparent rectangle and lock that. This prevented the salespersons from accidentally modifying cells with formulas in them, such as subtotals and totals.
I seem to no longer be able to do this, since Numbers v1.4 will unlock all locked items. There is no setting to prevent it from doing so, and so currently nobody can make this type of forms for the Ipad and use it for information gather, sales, registration etc using Numbers.
Be happy to hear about other workarounds or suggestions for other apps that will not unlock locked items.

when we are doing periodic postings to contracts , we are getting the error"Requested cash flow contains locked items
Error no.RECD250"
The periodic posting function is locked for items that have due dates between 01.04.2011 and 31.12.9999.
Can you please suggest?

I guess you are using Earmarked FUnds and Approvals.
Please refer to the long text of the message RECD 250:
Possible reasons for this:
There is an earmarked funds document that is not approved.
The period being accessed does not yet contain an earmarked funds document.
Procedure
Approve the earmarked funds document.
Create an earmarked funds document for the time period in question.

Keychain has locked items I can't acces??

OK, two items have shown up in my keychain - they are locked.
I can't access them, I can't delete them.
I don't know what they are or how they got there.
The first locked item is called .Mac (I know what that is, I'm a subscriber. But I didn't add this to my keychain, and I sure don't want it locked so I can't access it)
The second locked item I can't access or delete is called "Directory Services"
I'm the administrator of this computer so I'm at a loss as to:
1. How these two "locked" keychains got in my keychains
2. How I can delete these "locked" keychains
3. For idle curiosity's sake, what is "Directory Services"????
Help would be most appreciated - if there's a better area of the boards I should be posting in, suggestions will be welcomed.

just an idea:
try deleting the following file:
\library\preferences\com.apple.keychainaccess.plist
i must admit, its really ONLY an idea.
so it would be better to move the file somewhere else insteed of deleting it.

With a lock item in a purchase order, release strategy works?

I have a very important question for myself.
I have a purchase order with only one item.
I have set this item to locked.
Release strategy works without problems.
Is this situation correct?
I don't understand it but maybe the release strategy works normally too....

Yes, if a release strategy is applied to a PO, then even if you block / delete an item, it will still have the release strategy.
This is standard behaviour, because you can later remove the deletion indicator or unblock the PO, whence the PO will again have to go through the Release Procedure.
