Logging the Runtime Fault messages BPEL in WLS logs

Requirement: I need to capture the run time fault from BPEL processes in the WLS logs how to do this?
Solution: I have tried following I created the Java class ot initialise the Java logging.
Java snippet:
private static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger("oracle.soa.Logger");
static {
LogFormatter.configFormatter(logger);
public static final void log(String message) {
logger.log(Level.INFO, message);
In my BPEL process I have the CatchAll activity
In the ‘AssignFault I’ have the assignments using ora: getFaultAsString() , but I’m not getting the expected fault in Assign Activity which we see in Audit Trail.
In Audit Trail i see the following message against the my Validate Activity
"Invalid data: The value for variable "ReceiveXML_Read_InputVariable", part "body" does not match the schema definition for this part Element 'TimeBandList' not expected.. The invalid xml document is shown below:"
The ora: getFaultAsString() is showing the "com.oracle.bpel.client.BPELFault: faultName: {{http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsbpel/2.0/process/executable}invalidVariables} messageType: {{http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension}RuntimeFaultMessage}"

I had gone thru that documentation. I needed something more than that.
Well, I want to know what entries go into the access log & what into custom
log of ours.
Actually, the entries with 200 status only are going into our custom log ,
how can I make the entries with status 302 (redirection) to get into the
custom log?
Thanks.

Hi,

I don't find any documentation on 5.0b2 on BEASYS's site anymore. Are
all the features like 'extended log format', 'log rotation' of WLS 5.1
were there in 5.0 b2 ?
Please help. Issue is very critical. I would appreciate if you could

  • How to send back the soap fault message without details tag to the sender

    Hello Expert,
    Is it possible to send the soap fault message(fault String element value) without details tag as shown below to the sender in synchrounous scenario.

    I have to send the faultstring element value in one of the element in response message back to sender? Is it possible using BPM?The above fault response does not have a fault payload (no detail element) and would result in a system error message.So how to handle this?
    If yes .Please tell me the BPM design
    faultstring value will be dynamic.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Yzanagi,
    I have gone through the index.htm file.
    In my scenario that is RFC -PI-soap(using http(Axis) protocol).when the webservice provider  is sending the soap fault as.

    so other  option to inform the sender RFC is mentioned here http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/22/0425e0488911d189490000e829fbbd/content.htm
    but while handling the SYSTEM_FAILURE  exception from PI at sender in report program and  displaying the msg variable ,I am not getting complete error message..It is getting truncated.Is there a limit to the no of character the msg variable contains which is set by system.Even if we declare msg variable with more length(for example char length 500) it is just displaying part of the error message from PI.
    Any Idea to read complete system error message from PI in report program at RFC sender..

    My question is How does the Web Service Consumer can handle this Soap Server Error in the SOAP Fault.Or How can we provide a specific information like  'The value '123456789' of element 'CompanyCode' is not valid.It exceeds the Maximum Length'.
    I read this /people/sap.user72/blog/2006/01/16/xi-propagation-of-meaningful-error-information-to-soap-client blog .Where it is mentioned that the Web Service Consumer can handle while calling the Web Service.Is there any other solution?
    Kindly appreciate your help.

    Thank You Stefan for your kind reply.
    So  you mean to say if we use the XML Validation .we cannot provide proper error information to the calling Web Service Consumer .And While calling a Web Service they cannot Extract the Exact Message in the Text Filed(<text>) present under the Detail Element (<detail>) in the <SOAP:Fault> node. as
    <text>com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessageFormatException: XML Validation for payload with root element name MT_Out_CustomerMaster_FPMReq , target namespace http://Pegasystems.com/I06_Customers Failed!Errors Encountered During Parsing
    1.cvc-maxLength-valid: Value '123456789' with length = '9' is not facet-valid with respect to maxLength '8' for type 'null'.
    2.cvc-type.3.1.3: The value '123456789' of element 'CompanyCode' is not valid.**
    3.cvc-maxLength-valid: Value 'asdf' with length = '4' is not facet-valid with respect to maxLength '1' for type 'null'.
    4.cvc-type.3.1.3: The value 'asdf' of element 'OperationType' is not valid.
    That is why we have to use the Fault messages and  Field Lengths has to be Validated  in the Server proxy.

  • Modifying runtime fault before being thrown by the system

    Hi,
    I have a requirement, where i need to find out the spot, from where system throws the runtime faults(specifically RemoteFault and BindingFault) in BPEL, and somehow modify the data coming in the rumtime fault (IFaultRecoveryContext object).
    Please let me know whether this is possible or not.
    I am using SOA 10.1.3.3.

    Try the first two steps in this article.

  • Unable to retreive the fault message returned by web service

    Hi,
    We are working on Proxy to SOAP synchronous scenario. The WSDL provided by the third party has 3 messages - 1. for request structure, 2. response structure and 3. Error message to track the exceptions, if any.  The interface working fine for positive test cases but we are facing issues when trying to capture the error message returned by the web service.
    We have configured the error message(provided in WSDL) as fault message in our Inbound interface. In the outbound interface, we have configured standard Fault message type provided by XI. we have mapped the two structure.
    Now when error is returned by the web service, we are able to see the blank response structure in the payload in MONI in XI. Also the SOAP Error Message structure is there in XI.
    But when we trying to retrieve the same in our proxy, it is giving the blank structure.
    Please help how to get the error message returned by the web service in proxy....
    Please help..
    Thanks in advance.

    >>>I am getting the error message as the fault message, in the response from the web service.
    >>>Now I want to forward the same message to SAP R/3 system. For this I have configured the standard fault message in the >>>outbound interface and have mapped the same with the web service error message. So if I am not wrong, the transformed >>>>structure according to the rules in message mapping should be sent to SAP R/3 system. But I am unable to see the result >>>>of this mapping in XI MONI. Neither is this passed to Client proxy.
    You are consuming the third party webservice. Third party webservice WSDL has request, response and fault message. if the third party application logic capture the exception and pass the response as fault mesg, then the above specified target fault mesg mapping with your Standard fault message mapping will be sent to sender or client proxy.
    Suggestions:
    Having fault message in WSDL does not mean that target system sends fault message during application exception. Check in the SXMB_MONI whether your response during exception is occuring in the fault message structure publised as WSDL. If not then doing mapping will not help. It gives only blank.
    If you notice response in fault message structure from third party in SXMB_MONI, then you need to check that at the client proxy side, are you handling/done coding for fault message methods similar to response strucutre for capturing data.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to handle RunTime Faults which doesn't list under System Faults?

    Hi,
    I have a doubt regarding runtime faults in BPEL 1.1.In BPEL 1.1 some of the run time faults are categorised as system faults.So we can handle those run time faults
    using the faultname or namespace(http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension) of system fault itself.But 'SublanguageExecutionFault' is a run time fault which doesn't list under system faults.
    So what namespace it belongs to?Can we use the same namespace of system fault for this kind of runtime faults ?
    Are any other runtime faults existing which don't have the same namespace of sytem faults?So how can we identify and handle those run time faults?

    You can create a role menu as remote enabled remote menu.
    The authority checks will happen on the remote side, also against objects which don't exist in the calling system as the music is on the other side.
    On the RFC client system side, you only need the parameter transaction to start the remote transaction in the remote system.
    See the documentation on SYST function module ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION.
    This is however a rather antiquated technology... it is more popular to use a SAP Portal or webdynpro applications for this sort of thing (the user does not notice the difference) or later versions of such integration such as Fiori UIs or imbedded links within the Business Client.
    I don't want to lean out the window too far, but the buggy phase of these new things is approaching an end and they are usable if you are on newer releases. Then you can pool the menu and use APIs for navigation and no more irritating S_TCODE checks.

  • Problem with SOAP FAULT messages

    Hi,
    I'm developing the flash interface for a .NET application.
    The client side (flash) communicate with server side (.NET) by web
    services. The problem is that when the server side send a Fault
    message flash breaks telling "Unable to connect to
    endpoint........". In this case I need to know the error message
    send by the server but the fault.faultstring is undefined.
    Here the server Fault message:
    HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error.
    Date: Wed, 23 Aug 2006 09:07:10 GMT
    Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0
    X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
    X-AspNet-Version: 1.1.4322
    Cache-Control: private
    Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8
    Content-Length: 419
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="
    http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsi="
    http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:xsd="
    http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <soap:Body>
    <soap:Fault>
    <faultcode>SoapHeader</faultcode>
    <faultstring>The userid: xxxx is
    invalid</faultstring>
    <detail />
    </soap:Fault>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>
    And this the code that handle the fault case:
    pendingcall.onFault = function (fault:Object){
    rootObj.gbl_logger.log("WS Fault: "+ fault.faultstring ,
    10);
    As you can see the real faultstring is "The userid: xxxx is
    invalid" but in the faultstring property of the fault object I
    found "undefined".
    I've read many posts that report that the problem can be
    solved in the server side modifing the HTTP HEADER from 500 to 200.
    Unfortunately I can't access the server side code. Exists a way to
    resolve the problem in the client side? Seems it is a Flash bug as
    the SOAP 1.1 specs tells that all SOAP Fault messages must carry a
    HTTP 500 header. Exists some patch that solve the problem?
    Thanks.

  • Fault message types: Why do we need them?

    Hi guys,
    I have a bpm scenario created, tested and working.
    This bpm starts with a async receive, a Sync Send to a R3 system by an ABAP proxy and a final async send to the original system.
    I'm contemplating exception handling and other type of errors. Meaning, if the abap proxy dumps I can raise an exception and map it on the XI environment. The thing is, on  sxmb_moni I get the exception handler, with the exception texts, id's, etc... from the R3 being mapped to the XI fault message type.
    But the problem is I can't get to map the text from the fault message type into any field from the response of the original system.
    I've searched the forum and I've seen that this area is surrounded by doubts and questions...
    But in the end I'm forced to place the question, why do I need the fault message types? What use can I give them, besides of the cute little thunder on the sxmb_moni?
    Thanks for your attention guys

    Hi Krishna,
    I've read the SAP description about Fault Message Types but I'm still struggling on how to use them correctly.
    Why do we need them if I can't do nothing with it on the BPM side? After the mapping of the FMT, I'd like to acess it so that I can send a description back to the original system...The thing is, in BPM you can't acess the FMT, you can only create a new BRANCH (on a block step) for it...
    I've tried to acess the description text on trace which comes with the message, but it seems that the trace only serves for posting info, and not for getting any...
    The Mapping Runtime Constants have some information where you can read some descriptions, but nothing related to the errors....You can read the Receiver service, sender, interface_namespace, but nothing from the ERROR tag...
    Is there a way to get the description? Or anything related to the error tag?
    Thanks in advance

    boldError while interpreting the runtime repsitory
    While I am in the transaction BSP_WD_CMPWB its giving this particular error.
    and while I am going to the WEB UI its throwing the error
    An exception has occured during program processing.
    I have followed the thread and deleted all the BSP aplliaction and the realted classes but still i am getting the same error..
    Please Suggestb at the earliest, I am really in trouble related to it
    Thanks,
    Mayank

    Hi Mayank
    I had already delete my enhancement set using SM34 -> BSPWDVC_CMP_EXT as mentioned. However, I didn't find any Z classes created using SE80 -> BSP application.
    I had wanted to enhance component BT130I_OPPT -> ItemDetails view but somehow the standard repository got deleted and now I hit this 'Error when interpreting the runtime repository' message whenever I tried to enhance the view.
    In addition, the customised fields I created using EEWB, which used to appear under context node BTADMINI, is no longer there.
    Are you able to help? I can send u screen shots if necessary.
    Thank you very much!

  • Fault message handling in BPM

    Hi again xi fighters
    I created a business process with a synchronous sending step. I defined all interfaces and implemented also an own fault message type within the synchronous abstract interface. If the used RFC got the correct data the sync. sending step worked proper and also the business process worked fine. If I providing wrong data to the RFC to force him to throw an exception the Business process received the fault message. Then I just want to send the received fault message asynchronously to a file adapter within the defined exception branch. And now the question no-one answered in several discussion threads ;-<
    How can I send the message? I am not able to implement a new variable in the container for the fault message type. Any advises here?????
    Please help me, before I got inshane of SAP ;->>

    Hi everybody
    any ideas, or is the question not clear. Please have a look and let me know you exlperience!
    Regards Oliver

    Hi Oliver,
    how do you know, that is impossible to read the content of the fault message in the exception branch? Did someone from SAP say that? For days I read all the notes, blogs, help,.. and didn't find an answer.
    It should work.
    1. I have an integration process in XI sending a sync message to R3.
    - OK
    2. In the generated proxy class I raise an exception of the generated exception proxy class.
    - OK
    3. The exception message is shown in the message monitoring, containing also all our customer-data.
    - OK
    4. The integration process in XI activates the correct exception branch.
    - OK
    Missing: How do I get a grip on the data in the error message?

  • BPM synchronous send step - Fault message extraction

    Hello Experts,
    I am developing a BPM with Asynch RFC -> synch Webservice -> Asynch RFC scenario.
    I have defined fault message in the synchronous interface used in the send step for web service, and also defined
    exception branch where an alert is thrown.
    In the alert, i want to send the fault text from the fault message. How can i do that??
    Thanks

    Hi Mona,
    SOAP adapter doesnt support fault messages.
    check stephan's reply @ How catch the SOAP Fault Message ?
    > SOAP adapter does not support fault message.
    > Any fault is treated as error.
    > fault messages are only supported for XI messages (ABAP or Java proxies) and RFCs.
    Fault message handling is not possible inside BPM.

  • Two Fault messages in PI - Error

    Hello Guys
    My Scenario is Sync SOAP to Proxy. PI will be service provider. In sceanario i have used two fault message and testing the same.
    As I was able to use the two fault message and also generated the proxy and coded in proxy method to trigger the Functional Exception but when I test it says no mapping found.
    But When I am testing without Operation Mapping and mapping program it work fine. Below is screen shot in last of successful test and response at SOAP client.
    I tried with two fault as well as one fault in both the case it fails but in ECC moni the fault is generated but in PI i get two response one with RED and other with GREY status
    Attaching screen shot for more details.
    Thanks
    Vaibhav

    For the Grey Message Status , the problem is on the ECC side. Please check the proxy again and please also check the whole process.
    There is some COMMIT missing.
