Logic broken, mac book pro 15", i7 2.2 ghz, 8 Gb RAM - Later 2011

I have a mac book pro 15", i7 2.2 ghz, 8 Gb RAM - Later 2011
I have the same problem many users who purchased this model.
He broke his logic. Due to the large number of people with the same problem, I consult if Apple has a solution to meet Apple loyal customers.
Remember the high cost of purchased equipment.
Thank you very much for your time.
regards
rafael martino

Rafael,
no, Apple has not acknowledged a problem with the 15-inch Late 2011 MacBook Pro in a similar way to how they had acknowledged a problem with the 15-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro. Because of this, unless you have an alternative means of legal redress, you would need to pay for a replacement logic board.

  • My mac book pro (2.66Ghz Intel core i7 4Gb ram) crashes every time I open iPhoto, browse photos or videos from Finder and work with slides, this started after I upgraded to mountain lion, what can I do??

I updated my OS to mountain lion and since then my mac book pro is virtually useless, seeng pictures, videos, using graphics applications and Iphoto is impossible, the screen goes black, and the system restarts.
This even happens sometimes at login, the login screen appears then the computer crashes and restarts, sometimes more than once, yesterday it even happened 6 times in a row before I was actually able to enter the password and log in.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Copy (command-C) the selected text to the Clipboard. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered. You can do that by copy-and-paste as well. Omit the final line ending in “$”. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. It won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • I have a mid 2009 13" Mac Book Pro. I want to upgrade the RAM from 2GB to 4 GB. Can I use 1333 MHZ modules instead of 1067 MHz?

The manual suggests 1067 MHz modules but my dealer stocks only 1333 MHz modules. Can I use two modules of 2GB 1333 MHz in place of the present two modules of 1GB 1067 MHz.

I wonder if perhaps the new ram isn't exactly right for the computer?  When you install a 2gb and one of the 4gb and go to Apple-About This Mac does it show up as 2gb or 6gb?  Just thinking perhaps the computer can't read the 4gb cards at all, so as long as one of your old 2gb cards is there to function it doesn't freeze (seems like an odd concept but I've seen it happen in PC years ago, so not sure if it's even possible with current hardware or Mac but it's a thought).
Also, double-check the sticker on your new Ram to be sure it works with your system (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1270) thinking maybe even if you bought the correct package in the store, maybe it contained the wrong product?  You didn't say what screen size you have, but it looks as though they are all the same specs (13, 15, and 17-inch MBP mid-2010):
    - Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format
    -30mm (1.18 inch)
    - 2 GB or 4 GB
    - 204-pin
    - PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz type RAM
I did a quick search and found this thread, same issue, so perhaps it may contain some clues as well: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3797144?start=0&tstart=0  I noticed someone mentioned the brand or source of the purchased ram; I have personally had issues with third party or "other than what the manufacturer recommends" brands of memory over the years.  I bought mine from Amazon.com but made sure it was Crucial brand, which I've always had high success with.

  • My mac book pro doesnt start up after a small flash in jack when plugged in

my mac book pro doesnt start up after a small flash in jack when plugged in

It's a mac book pro 17", OS X 10,5 . It worked perfectly but when I (or actually my friend) plugged the jack into the wall outlet it came a small flash (in the wall outlet) and then it didn't start up. No sound, no light on the screen. I didn't actually see what happened, but I asked if she plugged it in with the magsafe wire still attached to the computer, and she believed she might have. Is there anything to do? I have a couple of mac computers, two other mac book pro (writing on the newest one now - 13" - late 2011 - OS X Lion 10.7.5), if it could help.

  • Is anybody running Logic Pro on a Mac Book Pro?

I am considering buying a Mac Book Pro and wanted to know if Logic runs fine on it. I probably will add a couple of libraries such as the EW Gold Symph Library which can be quit large. If I could get some info on that, I'd appreciate it. I know the Mac book Pro memory is extendable to 4 GB Ram, but, is it enough for the Logic Studio?
    Thanks

Latest project on my MBP had 17 tracks (9 SW instrument tracks and 8 audio tracks) each with at least two plugs. No problems....
Remember that if you get the dreaded resource warning messages you can always "Freeze" your SW instrument tracks to print the effects to audio files that are automatically stored in your project folder (so yes, it does suck up more HD space but really offloads the CPU).
Another tip is to turn Airport off when you are using LP8 as some people (raises hand) find they can get more tracks with Airport off.
And as already mentioned....you can get even more tracks if you have your projects and/or samples on a 7200 external drive.
    Go for it....it works great!!!

  • Mac book pro is very very slow/it hangs for even the smallest tasks/even with the lid closed it is still running if it is not completely turned off. Dose any one know what may be wrong ? and how to fix it?

More details about the problem : My computer is a Mid 2012 Mac Book pro 2.9GHz i7 processor with 8GB RAM updated to OS X v10.8.5
    - I ran a compleet scan of my computer for any threats ( I used virus barrier express ) and there was nothing identified
    - When I oppened the Activiti Monitor there are about 20-30 processes which I do not undersatand they are run under the user "root" 2 in perticular ( Kernel_task & fseventsd ) they both take up a lot of threads and kernel_task is constantly using 1.2 GB of "real memory" which is at least 20 times any other process that is running espesially the ones that run under the user "Apple" I do not know if this is causing the problems on my mac but i tryed to forces close it and it dose not even let me click the button, the others close but reopean immideatly. I will attach a screen shot of what i have mentioned here.
    - The problems I am facing are mainly performance :- To state a few examples, my mac dose not seam to be able to handile even the smallest tasks like switching tabs on safari, typing any thing, playing a movie withought stopping inbetween, etc.. ( let me elaborate on why I said its not able to handil these tasks, it is because when I am trying to do any one of the afformentioned tasks inbetween the cursor becomes a rainbow collered spinning disk and I am unable to do anything for about 10 seckonds after which it starts to work again for some time before it happens again. )
    - Another concern of mine is that my mac seems to be on even with the lid closed if I do not shut it down compleetly, if i just close the lid after some time the computer starts warming up, and the fan starts running. the battery is drained at the same rate or slightly less rate than it would have if i was using it normally with the lid opean. ( altough this is happning the screen dose not turn on untill the lid is opean again )
    - I have only 300+ GB full out of my 750GB so i believe these are not issues caused by my mac's memory being full ( BUT THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THIS WAS HAPPNING WAS WHEN MY MEMORY WAS ABOUT 720GB FULL WHEN THESE ISSUES FIRST AROSE I IMMEADITLY DELEATED 400+GB OF MY USELESS FILES THAT I HAD BEEN HORDING ALL OF WHICH WERE MOVIES ) that about covers it all PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY ONE KNOWS WHAT TO DO.
Ps: I apoligize if I have given too many unrelevant details, not enough usefull information and or if i was just all over the place with my explanations but I am really frustrated and was hoping not to miss anyting. Please let me know if any information at all is required and ill do my best to provide it.
    Thank You

  • Cost of replacing a fan in a mac book pro

HOw much does it cost to have the fan in 15 inch mac book pro replaced

The last time I had my fans replaced (2011) the cost of each fan was $17. Labor was about $34 for a total cost of $68. But I had both fans replaced. This was on a 2006 MacBook Pro so your prices may be different.

  • Is the corsair DDR3 16GB 1333 SO-D KIT compatible with the Mac Book pro 2010?

I'm upgrading my Mac book pro 2010 and was wandering if this ram works. I already tried the PNY 8gb ram, but snow leopard wouldn't install with it.

I'm pretty sure it can take 16GB fine, after all Apple has said up to this day that non-Retina Macs can't do so much RAM yet here we are, a whole bunch of happy 16GB users (hint: my Mac is carring the Corsair CMSA16GX3M2A1333C9 kit).
However, stedman is right. Your Mac uses 1066MHz RAM, the 1333 MHz RAM is for 2011 models.

  • Mac Book Pro slow

Problem with the Mac Book Pro 13 Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM
I have imported quite a lot of photographs to my HDD library and before I noticed, I had less that 2GB space left and my mac seriously slowed down.
After a short while it crashed and then it took around three hours to reboot and to see the desktop again.
I removed some data and now have 40GB space left on my disc, also downloaded and installed latest OSX Mountain Lion. It is a little bit better it takes around one hour to restart my laptop now but now I am not sure what to do next. How and where to check where is the issue?
I have used a Blackmagic Disk Speed Test and it tells me that my SATA disk performance is both write and read around 70Mb/s.
Your advice would be really appreciated. Ola Z

Did you do a clean install or an upgarde of the OS?
    I would do the following
    1) Open Disk Utility
    2) Check Disk for errors
    3) Repair Permissions
    4) Reboot
    5) Reboot again.
    6) If it isn't better, backup everything and do a clean reinstall of Mountain Lion

  • Is normal in the mac book pro with the retina make fan noise al the time ?

Is normal that the new macbook pro with retina make fan noise all the time?

    Hi everyone.
I just bought an mac book pro retina , 15 inches , 2 GHz, Core i7, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3. I'm a programmer , so, I really don't give to the mac book an exhaustive use, so the performance of the machine is good for me. But recently , I discovery some kind of issue : a noise fan when I reproduce a video from Internet, in full screen mode.
I download the iStatus Menus program for mac, to has a complete dashboard of the situation , and I got this :
    1) When recently start the mac book, the statistics are
All in order, the revolutions of the fan are OK, no fan noise at all.
But , just opened a video in full screen , a few seconds after opened start it, the machine increase the temperature from (normal) 40° to 98° (so high), and the statistics change dramatically , as follow :
As you can see, the fan revolution increase 3x , from  2000 to 6000 . The use of Google Helper increase over 200% . And obviously the noise fan make me crazy,
I've only seen this "issue" on that scenario, ( internet video full screen reproduction ). That's not happen , even when many applications are open.
Should I worry about this ?,  or, this is a normal behaviour on the machine ?.
I'll appreciate any advice or answer.
    Kindly regards.

  • Mac Book Pro 17-inch Mid-2010 memory compatibility

I have a Mac Book Pro 17-inch, 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8GB 1066 MHz DD3 RAM. The RAM consists of two 4GB modules. I was just wondering if I can upgrade the RAM by putting DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz SO-DIMM PC laptop memory module RAM. Will it work?

Buying RAM off eBay is probally the worst thing you can do.
Not only that, it's some off name brand RAM made for PC's, so it's likely to cause issues or fail in the Mac, which the seller might not respond for a exchange or refund.
Inexpensive RAM is usually lower quality and more prone to not working but might so it's pawned off to third party resellers to appeal to the cheap crowd willing to work more to get their machines running.
Opening up the MacBook Pro is delicate work with fine screws that need to go back into each exact hole they came out of. The more you have to open it, the more potential damage can occur that is not covered by AppleCare or warranty.
If you want perfect RAM the first time, without having to keep trying over and over which costs you more money and headaches, buy the RAM directly from the manufactor here
    http://www.crucial.com/mac/
When your looking at the RAM approved and tested to work for your machine, you can opt to spend more for the higher speed RAM however it will only work as fast as your BUS speed (aka: "Mhz") of the machine.
Benefit of the faster RAM is it will max the bus speed, whereas the matched speed spec-ed RAM can be a bit slower than the bus speed.
If your not into serious performance of the machine, then just opt for the most used spec-ed RAM speed.

  • Gaming in mac book pro 7.1--Call of Duty

    Hi Guys,
i'm using a mac book pro 7.1 (2.4 GHz, 4 GB of RAM).
    I don't know why when i play with call of duty modern warfare 2 (MAC USE ONLY) the mac is very slowly!;
the entire visual move from left to right, up and down, continuosly: this is a very bad way to play with a MAC!.
Ehi someone, solve my problem please!.
I have not bought with many money the mac in order to play in this way!.
    Bye.
    M

You purchased the wrong MacBook Pro if gaming is your thing. The simple fact is that MacBook Pro's are not designed as gaming machines, per se, and your model...a 13" with integrated graphics...no dedicated GPU...is a poor choice for graphic intensive games. There is nothing you can do to change this fact, other than not running anything but the game & lowering the game's settings.

  • MAC book pro sluggish and locking up

I have a Mac book pro running Leopard 10.5.4 4GB Ram, 320GB hard drive with 136 GB free. Over the past two weeks, it is running slow and sluggish. When I open up an application I get the spinning wheel and it's lasting longer and longer.
I ran the disk utility to repair permissions (advice of a friend) and it has not improved the situation.
Does anyone know what else I can do?
    Thanks,
    Cestep6

Could you expand on your description of slow and sluggish? What application/s? Have you tried booting from your installer disk and running Repair Disk from Disk Utility?

  • Logic Studio on my new Mac Book Pro

I had one install of my Logic Studio on my imac and one on my old Mac Book. I bought a new Mac Book Pro and gave my old one to to my daughter. I reinstall all my iMac content to my new Mac Book via Time Machine synch. When i start Logic it asked me the key and when i put the key it declined, saying key is not right while i have original printed key which i have tried may time on this Mac book but it does not recognized this key. This iis the same key i install the first time. How should i make my Logic works on my new Mac Book. I am willing to erase from my old Mac Book if i know for sure it will work on the new one.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Moniz

I don't think your problem is with the other installs.  I have logic pro installed in 4 places.  It will however only let me run one instance at a time because it checks over the network.
I think some how you are entering the wrong key.  Or perhaps your key is for a much earlier version of logic?   You might want to contact apple if you are sure your key is correct and valid.
