Logical components assignment

Hi ,
I have my scenario where I had uploaded the test cases in SOLAR02. And created the rest of the Test plans, packages and so on. Now that my testing syst. is ready i would add that too in my Logical systems of Project Admin. I see in the SOLAR01 that in the drop down of Logical components, i see all the systs. assigned in the Admin tcode. But in SOLAR02 only one syst. i.e only my dev. system is visisble.
After I transport my request for Test cases, I shlould have an option for testing them thro ' SOLMAn in both my dev. and test systems.
Pls. sujjest me how can that be done.
thanks in advance,
Sudha

Hi,
Can you explain you requirement neatly.
As per my understanding, you can execute your test cases in both DEV & PRD syste. For executing test cases on the target system you have to create the system data container containing RC to the target system. And while executing the test package you have options where you can mention the sytem data container and RFC from the sytem data container.
After pressing F8  you, ll test cases in the test package will be executed on the target system using RFC,\
reward if it helps u.

  • Help needed to DELETE a System created with Logical Components assigned.

    Hi,
I created a system in SMSY in my Solution Manager system. I unknowingly assigned the system to Logical Components. Now on finding that it was a worng way of configuration I need to DELETE the system and recreate it using the option "Create new system with assistant."
Please help me in resolving the issue. I am not getting an option from the were used list to delete the assignment of the system.
Expecting a reply at the earliest.
    Regards,
    Vineeth

    Dear friend
You can remove the system from the logical component by clicking on display/change and removing the SID from the system assignments,
just select the blank field from F4 help.
Once you have removed the system from the logical component, you will be able to delete the system.

  • Assign logical components to Test Case Management

    Hi ,
I have my scenario where I had uploaded the test cases in SOLAR02. And created the rest of the Test plans, packages and so on.
    My logical components are:
    100 DEV
    130 Single Test
    200 QAS (Integral Test)
    300 PRD
I need to know which is the way to execute the Plan and Package test (Single and Integral ), using the logical component descripted before.
    Regards,
    Ignacio

    Hello Ignacio,
When you create a test plan, then you can assign the role where the test should be executed.  You need to go to the plan STWB_2, then modify the ATTRIBUTES of the test plan, you have the General Data TAB, and then you can select whaterver role you want to use for the testing.  You can also go to modify the plan itself, go to the Menu Test Plan, dropdown, select System Role and again the role you need.  Save it and it is ready.

  • Logical Components and Solution Landscapes - 2 PRD ECC Servers

When I assign my PRD ECC5 server to Logical Components > SAP ECC > SAP ECC Server > SAP ECC, I select the Product Version as SAP ECC5.
From the drop down list on Production System, I can see both my ECC 5 PRD's clients listed. I select one client, all OK. Problem is I have 2 Production ECC5's, both to be used in seperate solutions. So I can only select ONE of these,
How can I use 2 ECC5 Production systems in Logical Components, or does it need to be configured differently?
    Thanks,
    Derek

    hi Derek,
you can create more than one logical component under ECC. Just name it something like ZECC2 and the define the systems for this logical component. You can then use the logical component in your project system landscapes.
To add a new one just right click on the text SAP ECC Server and select Create Logical Component.

  • Problems with Logical Components

    Hi All,
I am having problems with Logical Components with our project. We are implemeents SAP HCM and we have defined a logical component Z_ERP for the ECC server. now when you look at the transaction from SOLAR02 it seems they also have a logical Component SAP Learning Solution that is assigned to them. what could be the cause of this???

    Hi Trevor,
If you brought them in from the Business Process Repository, the logical component is going to be the default one. If you want to use your own, you need to replace the default one with yours.
You can do this in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN by going to the System Landscape tab > Systems tab > highlight the SAP Learning Solution logical component row > press F4 > replace it with Z_ERP.
If for some reason SAP Learning Solution isn't listed as a logical component you may have to add it, you can also just go to SOLAR02 > Edit > Replace Log. Comp > Enter SAP Learning Solution in the top box and Z_ERP in the bottom one > click Save.

  • Understanding and using Logical Components for Managed System configuration

    Experts.....
I am embarking on a fresh installation of SolMan 7 EhP1 SPS25 and after a few bugs along the way, I am finally nearing the end of including the first Managed System.  Somewhat related to {forum:id=10293771] I am hoping I can get some advice, but specifically with regards to Logical Components.
General question - I have a slide from SAP that shows a picture from Product->System->Instance->Logical System (client)->Logical Component.  I am confused because it shows that Client 100 of a given ABAP system could be assigned to Logical Component A, whereas Client 200 of the same system could be assigned to Logical Component B.  This seems wrong to me?
I am at the last step of the managed systems configuration wizard : "create logical components" and only want to ensure that I set things up to hopefully ensure that later usages (Maintenance Optimizer, etc) will handle things correctly!!!
    - Our SAP landscape is not very complex
    1. only ERP and EP (Dev/Test/Prod).
    2. We are utilizing HR Self Service (XSS).
    3. The ERP ABAP systems are on Netweaver 7.01.
    4. EhP4 has been installed, however we only activated the HCM business functions.  Therefore SAP_HR is on 604 whereas SAP_APPL is on 600.  I think this might be driving some of the confusion in SMSY
For the DEV ABAP system I am trying to configure:
    1. The system is showing up in two products : "SAP ERP" and "SAP ERP Enhancement Package" with the header data for both showing "EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 / NW7.01" and "SAP ERP 6.0"
    2. Under "SAP ERP" the "product instance selection" shows only "SAP NW - Adobe Docu. Service" and "SAP ECC Server" as relevant
    3. Under ""SAP ERP Enhancement Package" the "product instance selection" shows only "Human Capital Mgmt" as relevant by default.  I manually flagged the development portal system as "relevant" for "SAP XSS (Self Services)"
    4. The RCA DBA Cockpit system is complaining "No data available for extractor activation. Please check product mapping and Software Components in SMSY"
    5. In the Managed System wizard, there is no logical component for any of the "EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 / NW7.01" selections
From what I can tell, I think this is correct:
    1. Create a Z_EHP4 logical component and assign the DEV/QAS/PRD systems to them
    2. Also assign the DEV/QAS/PRD to the existing SAP logical component "SAP ERP ECC SERVER"???
    3. For the Solutions, my plan is to create
    a. Non-Production ERP : with the dev/test erp/ep systems, but test system as the leading system
    b. Production ERP with the prod erp/ep systems only
Thanks for any advice/guidance to help me avoid future problems!!

Client 100 could be assigned to any number of logical components, client 200 could be assigned to those same ones or none of them. A logical component is just a grouping of systems used to accomplish some task in SolMan.
For example with ChaRM you could have 2 logical components.
    ZCHARM_DEV development (100) -> QA (200) -> prod (300)
    ZCHARM_SEC security (900) -> QA (200) -> prod(300)
One is used to show the path for moving development changes to prod, the other for security changes. 200 belongs to both, but 100 only to one.
Set them up in whatever way meets you needs. It looks like for you, you could just use the default one and assign your clients to the various system roles. Not all functionality in SolMan uses the logical components though.

  • 2 Logical Components in 1 Maintenance Project

    Dear all,
We have two system system landscapes / logical components (Dev -> Tst -> Prd) in parallel; Finance and Logistics.
Is it possible, to have them both in one Maintenance project?
And more important, to have them both available in the project logistics task list (/TMWFLOW/PROJ).
    How do I arrange the parallel transporting eg. for Dev_FI -> Tst_FI and Dev_LO -> Tst_LO?
    Thanks for the answers,
    jan

    Hi Jan,
Yes it is possible to have both parallel landscapes in same maintenance tasklist. Just create 2 separate logical components with the appropriate system role assignment in SMSY transaction.
Now assign them in the Systems Landscapes Tab in the Project. When you create the maintenance cycle for this project it will automatically generate a tasklist with these 2 landscapes.
It will show total six systems in your tasklist. DEV1>QAS1>PRD1 and DEV2>QAS2>PRD2. Now when you assign this IBase Component in your change request, it gets linked to this maintenance cycle.
When in Normal Correction, you will get pop-up for actions like 'Logon to System' and "create transport Request' asking which Development system you want to logon to or create transport request in.
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks,

  • 2 Logical Components for 1 Business Process Step

    Hello All,
I'm looking for a way to assign in SolMan --> transaction Solar01 - Tab Structure - Business Process Step, 2 logical components for 1 business step. When creating the business step I have to assign 1 specific logical component to this step. Once I have done this I can only select  the chosen logical component ffor SAP Transactions, configuration object etc.. As my business step is running on 2 different systems I need to find a way to link transactions etc. in the step to the different systems. Is there any way to change this for the Level 3 elements, like it is for level 2 (business processes) where I can choose in the different tabs between all the logical components?
    Thanks in advance
    Ramó

I've seen people use some absolute craziness to get more than three levels. The most extreme being using multiple projects at the highest level (i.e. a project for PTP Accounts Payable). Don't go there.
I personally like to have 1 transaction per process step. Don't use the transaction tab as another process level, use it to better describe the process step (like all the other tabs are uses). It results in a better understanding of the system as you go forward. To do that I make teams break up things they think are one step (this can take some arm twisting, so hit the gym and maybe take a few judo classes).
This allows you to use SolMan in more powerful ways. For instance, if you attach development objects to a step with 5 transactions, you cannot tell which transaction is modified by the development object. However, one transaction per node provides you this link. There are other examples, but basically the "where used" button becomes very useful when you have 1 transaction per node.
Maybe you could provide a specific example of your process and we can think of a better way to collapse it.
    Such as:
    - PTP Non-Merchandise Purchasing
    -- Expense Purchasing
    --- Create Purchase Requisition
--- Create Purchase Order (Assign Vendor & Price)
    --- Send to Vendor
    --- Post Goods Receipt
    --- Perform LIV
    --- Process Payment
Some companies have 6 level processes already defined in models and putting it into SolMan can be a pain for sure. Your naming convention is usually the best route.
    regards,
    Jason
The system role and template work around doesn't apply to your situation.

  • Logical Component Assignment : Use '_' as a separator

    Hi experts,
I can not assign a system to a logical component in SMSY.
I tried to assign an SRM 7 system to logical component : "SAP SRM EBP-SRM SERVER" and then I get error message : "Use '_' as a separator".
Any idea to sort this out?
Where could I manage logical component name?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello there,
Does the logical component you mention have any systems already assigned? I would guess that it doesn't and that it is one of the logical components already present when Solution Manager is installed.
Have you tried creating a new logical component?
    Best regards,

  • ChaRM:Logical Components for Projects

    Hi Experts,
I have done ChaRM config and i am about to create logical components for the project Project.
I have below two questions please help.
While creating a logical component when i have multiple clients in DEV, QAS and PRD how to proceed and second question is about RFC Users in satellite systems.
    1) My ECC landscape have DEV ->100, 200, 300, 400, QAS-> 100, 200, 300, PRD-> 100, 200 with multiple clients.
So while creating logical component do i need mention all clients in the logical component or its enough if i mention DEV->100, QAS->100, PRD->100 ?
If i mention only one client in logical component how transports will move to other clients in DEV, QAS and PRD. Please help.
    2) Second question is do we need to create READ, TMW, back rfc users in all clients for DEV, QAS and PRD for above ECC landscape ?
    Please help for above question.
    Regards
    Latha

    Hi,
So while creating logical component do i need mention all clients in the logical component or its enough if i mention DEV->100, QAS->100, PRD->100 ?
Yes, you can have this TMS track defined and use SCC1  for performing imports within the system (like QAS 100 to QAS 200 ). Or use the Tranport Target Group option so that your TR is visible in import queue of all system. More info Extended Transport Control (SAP Library - BC Change and Transport Organizer)
    2) Second question is do we need to create READ, TMW, back rfc users in all clients for DEV, QAS and PRD for above ECC landscape ?
Yes, you need RFCs b/w your working client (100 ) and 000 client of domain controller. Not for all clients.

  • Logical components problem when checking project

    Hello,
I have searched in the forum for a solution, but the people who had the same kind of problem managed to solve it with means that do not work for me.
    Here is the situation :
    - We have a three tier landscape, DEV-QAS-PRD, in transport domain DOMAIN_A, with domain controller DCA
    - We have our Solution Manager system, DCB, which is part of (and domain controller of) transport domain DOMAIN_B
    - The two transport domains are linked, as specified in SolMan prerequisites for managing systems from other transport domains. This has been tested, and transports can be forwarded and imported freely from one domain to another.
    - I have created the systems, RFC destinations, and logical component for the three tier landscape in SolMan system DCB. The RFCs are all OK.
    - I have created the domain controller DCA system in SolMan DCB, with RFC destination to client 0, as defined in the prerequisite for Change Request Management.
    - Finally, I have created a project in SolMan system DCB, with this logical component.
When I try to do a Check on this project, in the Change Request management tab, I have green lights everywhere, except for the following :
    - In "Check logical components" : No consolidation system found for DEV-040 (our development system)
    - In "Check consistency of project" : Message from function module /TMWFLOW/CHECK_PRJ_CONS: No export system for PRD-020 (our production system)
We have checked the TMS settings and transport routes, and everything looks OK.
Any ideas on what to check/try would be welcome.
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi,
Check the status of the DC's in the track created in CBS.
    at following location.
    http://url:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tc.CBS.WebUI/WebUI
There should be no Broken DC's in the track.
If every thing is fine here and you still have problems then check by repairing the class path of the component.
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to set up logical components for ChaRM?

    Hi,
we do have the following system landscape. One DEV and two separate QA and PROD systems.
    DEV->
    >QA1  -> PROD1
    >QA2  -> PROD2
For these we want to transport parallel from DEV to QA1/QA2 and then parallel to PROD1/PROD2 via ChaRM.
    My questions are:
    1) Do I have to set up one or two logical components?
    2) How do I have to set up the logical component exactly?
    Thanks.

  • Logical components for ERP and ERP EnhP 3

    Hello,
We have a landscape or ECC 6.0 Systems created in the SMSY.  Those systems were linked to a new logical component Z_ERP60 under product ERP 6.0.  Then  we used that logical component in all the projects.
Later on, we upgrade ECC 6.0 to EnhP 3.  So, we went to the SMSY transaction, to the infrastructure components--systems and add new product versions to the existent system.
However, the logical component is defined as valid only for the original product ERP 6.0, and not to the new ERP 6.0 EhP3.  When we go to SOLAR01 transaction we still see that processes from BPR that belongs to EhP3 are greyed.
We want to know which is the best practice to handle this request, whether we create a new logical component associated to the product ehp3, Z_ERP60_EHP and then replace all the projects with the new component, or is there any other alternative.
    I appreciate your inputs.
    Regards
    Esteban Hartzstein

Many thanks for your answer.  The attachment is related to whether ERP EhP is available as a product in Solution Manager.  We are in SolMan EhP1 (SP 18), so we already have the product available.  However my concern is that we need to redefine the logical component.  Logical component belongs to one single product, being ERP 6.0 or ERP 6.0 EhP.   So, in our case we need to create a new logical component with the new ERP 6.0 EhP and then re-atach all the individual systems to the new logical compoent.  Then we need to replace in all the projects withe the new logical component.  Is there any alternative to deal with this problem of redefintion of logical components??

  • Meaning of defining multiple logical components in mainenance project?

    Dear friends of SolMan,
I have a question regarding a possible functionality of ChaRM .
In the maintenance project, defined in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, there is on the tab "system landscape" another tab "systems" where you define the logical component for which the maintenance belongs to.
In the list for the logical components you have the possibility to define more than one logical component.
    Now my question is:
    - Why and for what am I able to define more than one logical components?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Best regards,
    Alex

    Alexander
Yes it is very important part of CHARMS
Because logical component tells you which client is dev or QA or Prd for any system
When you activate CHARMS in your project where you have added the logical comp then system check for this logical comp ...the needed things ...like rfc or transport route etc
You can have multiple logical comp for various systems in one project i& it s enough to support them with one maintenance cycle working ...........to support CHARMS functionality
    Hope it clarifies
    Regards

  • Functional application design  =  Logical components/Physical components

    Hello
In realisation phase I come across terms
Functional application design  =  Logical components
Functional application design  =  Physical components
Can I get some explanation what is the principle difference between a logical and Physical component.
    Thanks

It depends entirely on the business requirements. Specifically
    - is a lot of concurrent 'history and active record' reporting required?
    - what is the ratio of active to deleted records?
    - can the [performance, maintenance and development] cost of avoiding deleted records be justified?
    - is a 'history' table acceptable instead of inline records?
    - what is the "too many rows, we need to delete some" archive strategy?
Once past the analysis stage, into design
    - is the shop oriented towards RDBMS as a data manager or a data storage and retrievval system?
    - do developers code in a client/middle tier or are they knowledgeable coders in the database tier?
    - do you intend to squeeze the value out of Oracle, or do you code everything on your own?
These last 3 questions are really the same thing.
