Hello everyone, I have what would seem like a simple
question? I created a slideshow in Fireworks, posted it to my
server but now the images will not show up. I know that the player
needs to look for them in the correct folder however I can not get
the slideshow creator to point in the correct direction. Can
someone please help?

  • Removable logo "Made in a Mac" in Hard books

    Hi guys,
As far as I can see the logo "Made in a Mac" is removable in all the designs that can be printed by Apple in iPhoto '08 except for the Hard book designs, please let me know how to remove it in the hard books, or include in a next update the function to remove it. I think the users should have the last word on an imposing promotion in something that will be for personal use.
I'm not opposed to the logo, I just want to have the choice to remove it if I wish to.

The logo can be removed; I just verified this in a hardcover book that I had already designed. To do this, click on the "settings" option at the bottom of the iPhoto window (where the gear is), and uncheck the option "Include Apple logo".

  • Logo made in Ps is bit blurry in Microsoft Word

    Hi there,
for a client I made a logo in Photoshop. For her letters she uses Word en wants to use to logo there. But if the logo is imported in Word, using insert from file from the menu the logo gets a bit blurry, sort of anti-alias kind of blur.
I tried PNG and JPEG, with 72 dpi, 150 dpi and even 96 dpi. It used the sizes we need in word so no rescaling is done. When exporting from Word to PDF does not help.
The settings for compressing are set to "keep current resolution".
I use PS CS5 en Word 2011 both on the Mac. My client uses Windows.
Does anybody now what to do about the not so sharp images in Word 2011?

    A while back you appended

It seems that the quality stays better with 300 dpi, less qualityloss in MSW.
When I read something like that it makes me think that the appender is missing some basic understanding of what these things mean.   Images that have pixels sizes of  236px x 49px,  488px  x 101px   and 745px x 154px all can be printed at a 300Dpi resolution or any other resolution you care to print at.  All that changes is size and sharpness. Displays on the other hand are run at a single DPI resilution it make no difference what the images print dpi setting is set to.  Displays display all images at their resolution which is much lower then print resolutions so images apear very large on screen. The way to image size is changed on screen  is by software scalling the number of pixels used to display an images.  The pixels you see are not the actuall image's pixel how well the scaled image look on screen depends on two factors how well the software scales the image and how good the display is. Displays  DPI resolutions that range from around 84DPI up to the iPhone 326Dpi small retina display.  Most likely your display DPI resolution is around 100Dpi
    To put it an other way the 236px x 49px,  488px  x 101px   and 745px x 154px  images actual pixels would display 2.36" x .49", 4.88" x 1.01" and 7.45" x 1.54" on your 100Dpi display screen and they would print on your printer the following sizes  .786" x  .163",   1.63" x .337" and 2.483" x  .513"  at 300Dpi.

  • Replacing the Acrobat logo in digital signatures

I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1.8 on a Macintosh.  When I create a digital signature, there is a checkbox option in the "Configure Signature Appearance" window (under Acrobat->Preferences->Security->Digital Signatures) which, when checked, displays the Acrobat logo in my digital signatures.  Is there a way I can replace that logo with my corporate logo, made suitably transparent in a PDF like I have for a scanned version of my wet-ink signature?  In this way, I can create various versions of my signature for personal use (with just my transparent scanned wet-ink signature) and corporate use (with both my transparent scanned wet-ink signature on the left and my transparent scanned corporate logo on the right and other information like reason for signature, location, contact email, etc.).  After all, since the document is a PDF, it's already obvious it's Adobe Acrobat.  What isn't obvious is who signed it and who the signer is affiliated with (i.e., me and my company, not Adobe).

I don't have an answer for you, but something to think about. When working with signatures, it's very important (in my view) to move away from judging ANYTHING by looking at the page. That's the old "wet signature" way.  A PDF page could have any icon, name, signature, or convincing text. What really matters is validating the signature and confirming it really is signed by the trusted authority you hope it is. Anything fancy on the page just distracts from that.

  • WHAT RESOLUTION TO MAKE LOGOS FOR IMPORTING

    Hi to all!
    I'm not clear on something:
I have a custom logo made with fonts in CS2. When importing this to FCP 5.0.4, to overlay onto a scene -- do you put the logo with the fonts on a transparent layer, flatten it, and then save at what resolution and file type?
I take it a TIFF would work or a PNG....but what resolution? And the color space I assume is RGB?
    many thanks!
    -TEXASFLOOD

Resolution is meaningless in video. You can create your image in any application at any size you want. Just remember your video window is a set number of pixels.
Flatten your image in PS to a format that includes transparency.
Know that there are pixel aspect ratio issues. Photoshop creates square pixels, video is rectangular pixels.
:Large section in the FCP manual on getting stuff form Photoshop into FCP but I haven't used FCPv5 or CS2 for many years.

  • CS5 bug rendering anti-aliased text in 'Save for web'

Seems like there's a bit of a bug when using 'Save for web and devices' with thin weights of type in CS5 for Mac. Although thin type looks fine while working in Illustrator, as soon as you enter the 'Save for web' dialogue, it gets badly mangled. Looks like this issue has been present at least since CS4. It does not happen in Photoshop. It looks particularly bad for light text on a dark background.
Some people may say "sure, Illustrator is not really meant for intensive bitmap work". However, with features like 'pixel preview' and 'snap to pixel', Illustrator has (generally) become a very viable tool for web design, and personally I much prefer it to Photoshop. It is also clear that Adobe intends it to be usable in this manner. So the anti-aliasing render bug is definitely a problem. Just surprised they didn't address it when CS5 was born.
I put up some example images on http://www.thesheep.co.uk/2011/06/24/illustrator-save-for-web-anti-aliasing-problems/ to illustrate the problem.
Does anyone have any clever work-arounds for this? It's a bit annoying to have to move stuff over to PS before exporting, but maybe that's what I have to do. Hopefully Adobe will address this soon.

    Hi,
I am experiencing this same problem of pixelated gifs when I use the "save for web" dialog from Illustrator, but this solution has not worked for me. I have tried the trick of using type-optimized anti-aliasing, but it doesn't change the output at all. I've done this from within the "Image size" tab as well as through Effect>Rasterize>Options)Anti-aliasing: Type Optimized. My image is a logo made entirely from text, although for some of it I used "outline path", so I'm not sure if it still qualifies as text...I'm a newbie at this stuff, so the technical details are still quite opaque to me.
Does anyone know of a solution to this that does not require me to add Photoshop to my workflow?
    I'm using Illustrator in CS5, version 15.0.2.
    Thanks in advance

  • How to fix lines in Illustrator

Hi! I need some help to fix some lines on a CNN logo made in Illustrator.
If any pros out there have a couple of minutes to fix the lines so that the curves are more smooth, I need it for my computer class.
Its a CNN and a Coca Cola logo.
I would be very grateful to anyone willing to smoothen the lines. The logos are already made, it just has to be smoothed.
Cheers to the Adobe user community, have a nice day:)
    http://www.woofiles.com/dl-211097-z55RiCsO-CNN.ai
    http://www.woofiles.com/dl-211098-kbRm7sfY-CocaCola.ai
Thanks in advance to anyone who will fix these two logos. You will get +1 in your good karma:)
Then I only need to draw an animal in Illustrator and paint it, that I will try doing alone:)

Just a few words in addition to what John and Joe said (I am still with 10, so I could only open the file as PDF, and had to leave for quite a while):
The Direct Selection Tool and the Convert Anchor Point Tools may be your friends; the former may be used for adjusting handles, too, and (since you have Live Paint which allows sloppier path building) it allows Joining of open end Anchor Points.
Edit: I hope we shall not have the rest of the class here soon.

  • Why does spot EPS not output when converted to CMYK or grayscale?

Apologies if this is a known issue but I can't find it anywhere... I'm using AI CS3 (13.0.2) on an Intel iMac/Os 10.5.4 and I can't figure out why a white logo made from text outlines outputs fine to PDF if I use a spot color but if I change it to grayscale or CMYK, part of the logo doesn't output at all.
The part which self-destructs is a supplied roundel of Caflisch text which has been converted to outlines (unfortunately I don't have the font on my system to do any deep testing). Another part of the supplied logo is a line drawing which outputs fine in any color mode.
So I'm really looking for something to explain why the text part of this roundel outputs fine as a spot color but disappears from view when converted to CMYK or grayscale. I have been placing the file in a Quark 7.1 document and then exporting to PDF but I see the same problem when using the Flattener Preview.
    Thanks for any help.
    Simon

Sorry for talking to myself like this -- been doing it for years...
Finally found out what was wrong: the submitting designer had set the white coloured text objects to overprint. When I set them to knock out all was well.
Kudos to Acrobat Pro Preflight for pinpointing the problem.

  • Creating a cresent shape illustrator.

I have been assigned the task in creating a logo with a cresent shape moon in a logo.
I did it in photoshop but realised that for scaling it wont work in printing on materials in the future.
I needed a clean cut look.
So right now, I have my logo made in illustrator.
My background is currently white. I didnt realise it usually means transparent in illustrator. im a newbie in this program.
I have 2 circles one is black and one is white. I have black circle on bottom layer and white one on top. I moved the white few cms to the left to leave an arc which is black because of the first circle behind.
however, i want to delete the white circle but then the black shows through. I tried pathfinders mode but nothing worked.
Also, in the end, this will be printed white on a black glassy background so should i just make this white now or will the pdf version of the logo be able to change the color to whiteduring the printing.
    any advice.
    thanks

this might help. you need both objects selected.

  • Outlook signature

We are using a vbscript to assign a Outlook 2010 signature to the users that are logging in the network.
A few things are a problem. First the logo is different when we open it in a editor it looks sharp etc. In Outlook it looks less sharp and smaller or larger. I have read that this is because Outlook is making a 96 dpi image of it. So i saved the jpg as a
96 dpi image but then it becomes 500 kb so thats to large.
The second problem i have is the color of the text in the script. Whatever i use for color the color is not much changing in Outlook. It looks much lighter then the color code says. Below is a part of the script. Is there something not right?
For example i have made the color www.company.com magenta but it stays the same in Outlook after restarting the system twice. It is also not underlined anymore so it is not a link. Something in the code must be wrong....
Between the lines the fonts are made arial 10 pt and a kind of darkgrey, but in Outlook it isgrey, also when you print it..
Outlook seems to do things on his own or is ignoring the script language in this case?

I am struggling to get a nice signature in Outlook 2010. The signature is created with a VB script that runs when a user logs in on the system.
The problem is the color for the text in the signature and the logo.
If i put a RGB value in the script for the color of the text, the text keeps getting another color for example i have given the value RGB(47,79,79) is almost the same as (81,82,82) displayed although this is a much different tint...
Another problem i am getting is with the logo: Made a logo which is resized in Outlook. I have already read on howto-Outlook site that Outlook is resizing the image to 96 DPI. So i did just that but then the picture is 500 KB big so i would like an image
for lets say in print size 0.8 x 2.0 cm (not inch..) high and in good quality.
What i found strange: opening the signature in Outlook with CTRL pressed gives the htm file whre the signature is: opening that in Word 2010 the signature sees the color much darker then Outlook does? And the image is larger then when displayed in Outlook..
It looks that every change i make to the color of the text or the image it does not change in Outlook 2010 but when choossing in the options in Outlook in options-email-ctrl on signature and then edit the signature.htm the changes are displayed...not in
Outlook but the changes are in the signature file when displaying in Word?
    How to overcome above problems?

  • Signature with Image

    Hi,
I'm using Mail 1.3.11 and trying to add a signature that's a j.peg (inc. text and logo) made in photoshop.....I've tried numerous methods and nothing seems to be working very well...if at all. I've read a lot of the discussion about this so I know it's been an issue for awhile. Does it have something to with the file format? Has it been resolved...is there a simple fix? It just seems to be such a basic email function that I'd hope it would have been fixed by now. Is there a 3rd party plug-in (that's safe) that I could use? I'd really like to resolve this without spending more bucks on the latest i-life. If there's no alternative I might have to but will that help anyway? I posted this message previously but only got one reply which suggested that I purchase Mail 2.0.7...is there no other solution.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Ash

Adding a pciture is fine in Mail 2.0.7, just tried
it, added a signature and just dragged and dropped
the .jpg image into the box where you add the text.
Created a new mail and there it was. Regards Jed
This works if you're sending the mail to a Mac user (or to yourself). However, PC users receive this image as an attachment. I have tried all kinds of formats for the image, including wmf, and it always goes as an attachment. Do you know how to send it to Windows users as an embedded signature that appears in the body of the e-mail??

  • Line Drawing best file format for import in InDesign

i was wondering what is  the accepted and recommended file format for files to be imported in InDesign. I was under the impression that AI files should be saved as EPS but I just read an article that says that Adobe's Dov  Isaacs said that eps will be shortly obsolete. What should I do. I work on curriculum that contains both photographs and line drawing and we use tiff for the former and eps for the latter. Most of our line drawing is done in AI. Howeverwe have a cartoonist that sends us files in jpg format. What would be the best file format for him and for us as we draw in AI?
    Article link: http://www.prepressure.com/library/file-formats/eps
The future of the EPS file format
EPS is rapidly becoming an outdated file format which is being  replaced by PDF just like PostScript itself is also being phased out and  replaced by PDF. Don’t just take my word on this. Here is what Dov  Isaacs from Adobe said in a discussion on a PrintPlanet forum about the  future of PostScript: “ …Adobe will continue to support EPS as a  legacy graphics format for import of non-color managed, opaque graphical  data into Adobe applications (such as InDesign and Illustrator).  Although we certain do not recommend that new graphical content be  stored in EPS format (except to satisfy the need to import data into  page layout programs that aren’t quite PDF-centric — no need to mention  names here!), our user base should feel comfortable that there is no  need to worry about a need to convert their very sizable libraries of  EPS-based graphic assets.”

Yes, I drag the AI file in.
If after it's in place I need to change I can just right click and chose edit original make the changes and save and the illustration in inDesign will reflect the changes.
On the other hand I can make changes to the original and all iterations of the file will automatically update, say if I used the illustration in several documents.
As an example I had completed a set of documents for a new company, i.e., biz cards, brochures, product labeling, stationery, etc. and in their wisdom they decided to make changes in their logo, which, of course, is on everything. I opened the AI file with the logo made the changes saved and all the documents then reflected the changes. The only caveat to do this seamlessly is to make sure that your file logo size is the same as the original or you might have to tweak placement in the other documents
It is this interoperability that to me makes the Creative Suite so much more than the sum of their parts.

  • Messing up the Walkman app

I put up a review with the new Walkman app update on Google Play, but I feel very strongly about this and wanted to address it here also to make sure my point gets across. The worst mistake that could have been made with updating the Walkman app was to change it to "Music."
I remember when I first got my Xperia Z and saw Walkman there on the home screen, I was immediately impressed, just seeing the Walkman name and logo made me feel I had made the right choice in purchasing an Xperia and I felt that I surely had a superior phone to my friends and associates with iPhones and Galaxies and everything else. The Walkman name and logo immediately brings to mind quality. I don't use Google's Play Music because I have a Walkman, I have the Amazon MP3 Player and only use that for streaming Prime music because I can't listen to it otherwise. Any songs I buy on Google Play or Amazon I will download to my phone's SD card even when it is an extreme pain in the neck and I have to jump back and forth from my phone to computer and upload and download files multiple times, because I have a Walkman. Even though I'm still listening to the songs on my Xperia Z and the actual audio quality isn't significantly different from one app to the other, I prefer Walkman for the simple fact that it is Walkman, That name and logo bring to mind a high quality, satisfying musical experience. Changing it to "Music" with a musical note for a logo makes me feel like I've just been robbed. It looks like it's just some generic, garbage music player app I found on Google Play. I feel like something valuable has been taken from me and replaced by some rip off junk, like the "Suny" electronics you can find for sale in the alleyways of Hong Kong. I played with the new "Music" app a little bit, and I know it isn't really that different. I don't like the full screen view of the current song, I very much preferred the old style with open space around the album art, and the next song up's album showing on the side, and the effect when you tapped the album to bring up the + (artist) star and infinity buttons. Besides that it is essentially the same, but with the new name and logo, I don't want to use it anymore. I don't want to listen to "Music", I want to listen to my Walkman. I was able to uninstall the update and get back to version 8.5.A.3.2 with the Update Center app, so I'll keep using that for now, but please, Sony, change it back to Walkman.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks for the link to the other topic. If I did get the second widget when I updated to 4.4.4, I must have just removed it from the home screen and never given it a second thought. As far as with the Music update, I still had the older widget on my home screen before I uninstalled Music, so I didn't notice, however over on the Google+ Walkman Beta Test community I did notice a post about the new Music app (not sure if it's the just released version or an older beta) complaining about the same thing, so I'd say no, the progress bar and start/end times are still missing from the widget. Here's the picture from Google+.

  • Faking a Z depth

basicly I have a 3d logo made in AE to go on a 3D screen however I need to create a Z depth along side it of the image to work. I have used a back ground with a ramp effect and matted out the alpha which works, but when i want to move the camera it doesnt, well other than going frame by frame and editing it. any ideas?

Buena Depth Cue, now Digieffects. Possibly one could also use some expressions to auto-adjust the gradient as the camera moves around, but that would require to know the exact structure and layout of the scene.
