Long delayed between server responses
I have a Oracle 8.1.7 standard edition installed in a HP Netserver machine.
The question is : during the normal load of the server, few sessions among the normal 50 sessions, has a very long time of response, even with a simple query like 'SELECT * FROM myTab'. The time is near ONE MINUTE of response. The server is in MTS mode and all session use the shared server processes. The delay happens even during data retrieval, for example, with the previous query I see the first hundred of rows and then I wait a minute, then I see the next rows...
This strange behaviour happens with all types of DML commands and there is no Direct-load or Import during this event. It happens with any type of table, with any cardinality, any complexity of SQL, with DESC or EXPLAIN PLAN commands, etc., there is not a rule.
Is there anybody who can help me ?
Thank you, Justin. I installed Oracle 817 with MTS because the Oracle sessions will reach two hundreds during this year. The number of process is set to ONE, initially. I notice that Oracle runs till 5 processes during the current maximum load (maximum process limit is 100).
I don't notice any strange fact during the server analysis with a tuning software (SpotLight by Quest), but sniffing the network, I see that Oracle parse the query in real time and then wait till a minute. In the meanwhile the two machines do not communicate at all.
I notice another thing : I open two sessions on the same machine; when one session is waiting for the long response, the other can run normally. Moreover when I "use" the second session, the first come alive immediately, returning me the values requested. What can you say me? Help me.
However, I don't know why there is this behavior on the server, but why can't I use the MTS with 50 users ? If I had 500 sessions, it would not be worse?
I don't know the statspack you tell me.

Long delay between send button and actual send in mail
When sending messages in mail, there is a long delay between the time I hit the send button and the actual sending begins. Message and attachment size have no bearing. The delay is usually about 30 seconds, but sometimes longer.
There was info in the detail window when I opened it. Also, it was not immediately connecting to the server, but when I clicked back on the regular mail window to send a test message, the server connected instantly. Below is all that was in the details window:

CP 7 Bug? Long delay between preloader and first slide
I am using OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 and recenly created my first project since upgrading to CP 7. My project is 15 slides and contains only audio (mp3) and image files. My preloader is set to 25%. When I upload the published project to my web server and test, there is a fairly long delay after the preloader loads and before the course begins. It last several seconds and appears as if all the elements on the first slide are missing (the only thing that shows is the playbar - I have only the CC button turned on):
Is this a bug with CP 7? I have never experienced anything like this in CP 5.5 and 6.jon8979 wrote:
During the latter part of the sync, I can open the Music app and scroll down to find the first last Artist with more songs than albums, and that is the one the device is currently working on.
That should have been the "last" Artist, not "first". I would've edited the message, but I guess I'm too late as the option isn't available. -
Long delay between welcome message and agent picking up
Hello, when I call to to the lync client I hear the welcome text and music , but only after 25-30 seconds the call reaches one of the agents ??
in the snooperlog I see a sip /2.0 200 OK message and it takes about 15 seconds before another event happens, which is the invite.
What can this be ??
I moved a lync server from a hyper-v to a physical server, is anything still hanging around maybe ?
I don't see anything of it in the snooper log thoughFirst, if this is response group call, just for testing, unselect Edge server from your Lync pool and try again.
Second, you have to remove old servers. If they are here, they could create multiple problems. Try the following commands to find objects that belong to the old pools:
Get-CsUser -Filter {RegistrarPool -eq "lyncpool.domain.local"} | Select-Object Displayname
Get-CsCommonAreaPhone -Filter {RegistrarPool -eq "lyncpool.domain.local"} | Select-Object Displayname
Get-CsExUmContact -Filter {RegistrarPool -eq "lyncpool.domain.local"} | Select-Object Displayname
In additions, check your conferencing directories.

People who enter an online competition will request a certain
web page, but the web page will not be released until an appointed
time.
Up to the appointed time 1000 or maybe 10000 people may apply
to enter the competition and these requests will be held on the web
server.
At the appointed time the web page will be delivered to these
people.
It is important, in the interests of fair competition, that
all the people receive the web page at the same time,
notwithstanding that some people may have a slower connection than
others, but this is not the servers problem, or is it.
Is it technically feasible to achieve this, and how long
would it take for the server to burst deliver the page to these
people.
Would the server have to have any special qualities to do
this.
The server would maintain a database of people who have
registered to use the site, and those who have elected to play the
competition.I do this on a lot of pages using PHP, you can get the server
time stamp then use that time and compare it to the time you want
the information available. Until that time you could post some
messaging to the effect of coming soon. -
Long delay between switching from internal - external speakers MacBook Pro 13
Hey,
Ive got a MacBook Pro 13" (2011) on lion 10.7.4 and I have experienced recent problems with a switch from internal to expernal speakers and vice versa. For example, Im on itunes listening to a song or watching a video on youtube etc and then I plug in my speakers or my headphones, the sound stops. It varies from time to time, until the music continues then, ranging from 10s to hours!
When I try to adjust the volume following things have happened on different occasions:
the volume symbol in the top bar is grey
when I try to adjust the volume with the keyboard, it either wont let me (indicating full volume and the stop sign appear on the screen) or it indicates on the screen that the volume gets changed but you cant hear anything
in the latter case, sometimes when the sound works again, I can press those buttons but the volume is stuck and doesnt respond.
Does it have to do anything with the fact that I am pretty bad at closing tabs on my browser and programmes? I wouldnt have thought so though because it didint used to be like that with the sound and my habits havent changed.
Anyeay, I eould be very happy if someone could help me out with this issue. Many thanks in advanceThanks for taking the trouble to answer. I agree that it seems like a hw problem either with a cable or internal mounting. To help anyone else who had this sort of problem ..... there is no need to worry. I picked up the phone and called Apple. A very polite and helpful tech guy ran me through a graphics ram reset (PRAM) to see if this would fix things and said to let them know if it didn't. The problem reoccured so the machine is going back. Apple immediately arranged for the machine - no debate, no hassle - to be picked up by courier and a new one shipped back to me. I'll have it in a couple of days. That is what you call service. I'm still going to take an additional precaution though. Despite having a good cover for the machine I'm going to add additional padding in the backpack I use on a weekly commute. Note though that I never had any problems with a series of Macbooks in the decade I've been commuting across Europe (on a weekly basis).

O.K. I found the solution. In preferences>audio/midi> audio output>built in out in audio input>built in input with minimum delay. Crucial part: If doesn't work , hit record for 3 seconds, stop and start again. By these way, I fixed it.

Description:
A specific group of users/customers (using Windows7 OS with IE and FireFox web browsers) are facing problems with retrieving the applet File, after they upgraded the JRE on the system(PC) to JRE 1.7.0_25-b17 from JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11.
With JRE 1.7.0_25-b17 it is noticed that when the Java plugin requests for the applet File; it sends a request to the Domain Controller of the user, which causes a delay of 2 to 5 minutes and sometimes hangs. The problem occurs consistently.
The current temporary workaround for this group of users is to use JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11.
Problem analysis:
To investigate the problem the below steps were executed:
1) Collected the Java console outputbelow details from the user's system. (The complete output is not posted due to lengthy content, though can be added further to this post if required.)
(a) Works fine with JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11. Kindly refer to Java console output in the code ‘section A’ towards the end of this post.
(b) The problem occurs with problem with JRE version 1.7.0_25-b17. Kindly refer to Java console output in the code ‘section B’ towards the end of this post. The step where the problem is observed, is indicated as(##<comment>##).
2) The network settings in the user's browser was checked. Internet Options > Connections > LAN setting
The configured option is 'Use automatic configuration script' and the value is http://www.userAppX.com/proxy.pac
This configuration remains the same irrespective of the JRE version in use.
3) The network settings in the Java Control Panel was checked.
The used/selected option is "Use browser settings", although values for 'Use proxy server' and 'use automatic proxy configuration script' are filled-in as 'user-proxy.com' and 'http://www.userAppX.com/proxy.pac' respectively.
This configuration remains the same irrespective of the JRE version in use.
4) The proxy PAC file was checked and debugging was done for the request 'https://myAppletHost.com/download/...'. The FindProxyForUrl function (including the conditions defined in it, for the hostname and domain checks) returns PROXY user-proxy.com:80
5) The user also tried the below
a. Changed the option in the network settings in the browser to 'Proxy server' with Address 'user-proxy.com' and Port '80'
b. Restarted the browser.
c. Tried with Java Plug-in 1.6.0_29, JRE version 1.6.0_29-b11. There was no problem and no request to the Domain Controller of the user.
d. Tried with Java Plug-in 10.40.2.43, JRE version 1.7.0_40-b43. The problem occurs with the delay and a request to the Domain Controller of the user is observed.
Kindly refer to Java console output in the code ‘section C’ towards the end of this post.
6) The user also tried setting the below property in the Java Control panel; restarted the browser, and try with JRE 1.7.0_40-b43. The problem stil persists.
-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
7) The Global Policy Management of the Domain Controller was verified by the user. It has GPO for proxy setting but nothing related to Java security.
Questions:
The problem seems be specific to a particular (user) environment setup, and the user faces the problem when using JRE 1.7.
We would like to know if the issue is in the (user) environment setup or in JRE 1.7.
Could you please help with information/ideas/suggestions to identify the root cause and solution for this problem?

(##THE ABOVE REQUEST CAUSES THE DELAY AND SOMETIMES HANGS##)My organization is experiencing very similar problems. We have resolved it through several steps.
We upgraded the client to Java 8 and we saw in the console that the hanging connection with the Domain Controller no longer occurs. This may be all that is necessary for your environment as well. -
Long delay from receiving INVITE from PSTN gateway and actual end client call
I was wondering if there is anyone who can assist me in some troubleshooting long delays within the mediation server. I have a lab environment which has the front end and mediation server on the same box. I also have an audiocodes MP-114 connected to two
test PSTN lines and this is configured as a trunk to the mediation server and there is two polycom IP phones within the test environment.
Now everything works - SIP invites and media but certain aspects have significant delays.
The problem is with inbound calls from the PSTN line
PSTN via Audiocodes MP-114 to Polycom phone - When I dial the PSTN number from my mobile the audiocodes sends a SIP invite to the Mediation Server within just under a second - I was able to determine this by using the syslog and to be honest that seems a
reasonable time.
Now moving onto the OCSlogger I logged the mediation and SIP logs and the mediation server is showing the SIP invite about half a second later (I am assuming some network latency clock drift etc) which again seems fine.
I then receive various logs showing TLS negotiation between ports 5061 and high ports on the server, and dial plan matching which all seems ok and this seems to take about 1 second not great but not the biggest issue However I then dont receive any message
logs for over 3 seconds until the the mediation server states "SDP Answer to Gateway, SDP is :v=0"
Then another 4 seconds go by until another tls session is negotiated and the SIP invite is sent to the lync registered polycom phone and then the IP phone starts ringing - so it appears the mediation server is not doing anything anything for 7 seconds.
Now looking at the detailed Trace logs I get three TL_ERROR from the proxysdp.cs(1417) proxysdp.cs(422) during the delay that states
TL_ERROR(TF_PROTOCOL) [0]12EC.1ED8::02/05/2014-12:22:45.305.000b07d8 (MediationServer,ProxySdpProcessor.InternalTryParseSdpT<GlobalDescription_TMediaDescription>:proxysdp.cs(1417))
(0000000003CB324D)SDP parsing error: Empty SDP offer
and then a warning
TL_WARN(TF_COMPONENT) [0]12EC.1ED8::02/05/2014-12:22:49.028.000b080e (MediationServer,ProxyCall.FinishGetOffer:proxycall.cs(4578))[57060297]
57060297Could not get MRAS candidates from the Media Relay token. Connectivity Servers List = SRV-0003.LOCAL.COM.NULL
and an error from SIPSTACK
TL_ERROR(TF_COMPONENT) [0]1298.25DC::02/05/2014-12:22:49.034.000b1d72 (SIPStack,CISIPProxy::CreateUriFromString:ISIPProxy.cpp(1333))
( 00000000002061A0 ) Exit - not a valid SIP address. Returned 0xC3E93F25(SIPPROXY_E_INVALID_URI_SCHEME)
Now the call goes though and works fine but the delay is considerable for the first ring - Has anyone got any ideas as I am stumped at the moment
Cheers
AdamAdam, you did not mention Edge and so, I will assume one is not deployed yet. Is this the case? Do you have edge defined in topology but not physically configured? "Could
not get MRAS candidates from the Media Relay token" indicates Mediation is trying to get Media Relay address from Edge via FE, but could not.

Long delay on KDE login caused by Pulseaudio
Hi all,
I am experiencing an annoying delay after logging into KDE. This happened very recently, where I moved to pure systemd and upgraded kde (I am not sure what the exact cause is). It looks like https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1157890, but instead of not starting, I get a long delay.
Example:
timestamp 0 - login
timestamp 8 - desktop is loaded partially and startup freezes
timestamp 33 - loading the desktop continues
This is very reproducable, I logout and login again - the issue repeats with the same times. I have isolated the problem to /usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11, line:
/usr/bin/pactl load-module module-x11-xsmp "display=$DISPLAY session_manager=$SESSION_MANAGER" > /dev/null
Stracing it shows that it freezes after sending the load-module command to pulseaudio over the native socket in /tmp/pulse-XXX/native and waiting for a response. This takes about 25 seconds, the same as in the example above.
The above timestamp tests have been performed by adding the next to ~/.bash_profile:
if mkdir /tmp/checks 2>/dev/null; then
for ((i=0; i<=40; i++)); do
[ -d /tmp/checks ] || break
p=00$i
p=${p:0-2}
ps xww -o user,pcpu,cmd >> /tmp/checks/$p-ps
cp $HOME/.xsession-errors /tmp/checks/$p-xe
sleep 1
done
fi &
I then use the next to check the differences between two ps outputs (after using wc -l to count the lines in the files and using `date -r XX-ps` to check the timestamp):
read a b; colordiff -u <(sed 's/[0-9]\.[0-9]//' $a-ps) <(sed 's/[0-9]\.[0-9]//' $b-ps)|less -r
Similar to http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermai … 11721.html which appears to be solved, but not for me.
Does anyone else experience this issue? Any solutions?
System is up-to-date, KDE 4.9.1, pulseaudio 2.1, systemd, laptop.
Edit: the problem occured since I patched kdm to set XAUTHORITY (not sure if that is related), after replacing with the original kdm binary, the issue seems to be gone is still existent.
Last edited by Lekensteyn (2012-09-16 20:50:27)Well yes, that just avoids the issue by preventing start-pulseaudio-x11 from starting. I'll try that workaround until a real solution shows up. Thanks for your reply.
I'll try this patch from Ubuntu quantal does not seem to work:

Invalid server response PONS French-English dictionary
Hi!
I'm new here.
Can anyone put me straight on this problem.
I have downloaded and installed PONS Compact Dictionary French-English-French v7.1 on my BB Curve 9300 Software v6.
When I try to load the application I get a white screen which reads * Empty * then a box which reads ' ! Invalid server response '
I have paid the full price for this through BlackBerry App World but I cannot use the app. What should I do?
Looking forward to a helpful response.

Hello Neal,
A very long, very entertaining and very interesting debate already took place at least once in these forums (fora),
about this question,
and more specifically because one has to take an American accent in Speech Recognition.
I think the issue here is one for Enhancements Requests, really. No imperialism, no insulting intelligences...
Apple is an American brand, that's how, in my opinion, everything comes from a US English basis.
Like Terminal and programmers default keyboard layout (US), etc.
Then some GUI options and programs may be implemented, and we can already enjoy plenty of them, although there's not enough of course.
Your example, Dictionary:
Of course it would be nice to be able to choose between different online services (also in other languages, like in French between Le Robert and Le Larousse, and perhaps a third one from Québec), as even within the only British English, there must be several equally interesting options...
Same for accents (Speech):
It would be such an achievement, to be able to speak other languages,
but also to be able to speak, say, French, in a User Account that's set in English,
and of course,
to be able to choose between several different accents too, within each language!
Dreaming, dreaming...
Seriously, your enhancement idea would be so welcome!
Please send it to: Mac OS X Feedback
Until then,
enjoy your US Mac!

Server response late and redirecting to user defined page
Hi
Can any body tell how to know server response time
if perticular time reached it should redirect to userdefined page saying that server is busy pls try after some time
here i am using iplanet web server and ias application serverThere is not much you can do if the server is too busy to handle your request. You may be able to configure the server to return a custom page.
In the case of a long running process you can do something the following

We have a Windows service that monitors for process start events and sends notifications to client applications.
We have discovered that the delay between when a process starts and when our EventArrivedEventHandler is called gets excessively long when the number of user sessions on the Windows server gets to about 80.
The delay gets worse as the number of user sessions gets higher.
The delays are not consistent. Even with 100 sessions some observed delays are short but most are too long and the maximum observed delay grows with the number of sessions.
Here is one example of the delay we are seeing.
A client application wrote its first log record to its log file at 11:05:34.076. Our EventArrivedEventHandler did not get notified of the process start event for the client application until 18 seconds later (at 11:05:52.188 ).
We need the delay to be less than 5 seconds to be tolerable and would like the delay to be less than 3 seconds if possible.
Is there something we can do to reduce the delay? Below are the details of our use of WMI.
We are using an instance of class WqlEventQuery to represent a WMI event query in WQL format.
We are constructing an instance of ManagementEventWatcher to consume events asynchronously.
Below is how we are instantiating and running the query. Variable m_PollingIntervalInMilliseconds is set to 1000 by default.
WqlEventQuery query = new WqlEventQuery("__InstanceCreationEvent", new TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, 0, m_PollingIntervalInMilliseconds), "TargetInstance isa \"Win32_Process\"");
m_ManagementEventWatcher = new ManagementEventWatcher(query);
m_ManagementEventWatcher.EventArrived += new EventArrivedEventHandler(managementEventWatcher_EventArrived);
m_ManagementEventWatcher.Start();
Our Windows service is not the only user of WMI services on the server. I do not know if there is contention with other users of WMI services or if there is something about the way we are consuming WMI services that is inefficient.Hello RossAtWFMC,
It seems that the services are working with a complex environment, and currently, we do not have such an environment which could reproduce this issue you described. Anyway, I would like to share whatever I found and some suggestions about this issue:
>> called gets excessively long when the number of user sessions on the Windows server gets to about 80.
The delay gets worse as the number of user sessions gets higher.
This seems to show that the issue is related with the number of user sessions, it may be that when with lots of user sessions, there are something additional delay the event to be fired. As you mentions, there are other services on that server machine, if
possible, you could make a test to run your WIM service only to see if it is still delayed.
>> Is there something we can do to reduce the delay?
I suggest that you could check this blog below which provide a way to debug with the .NET course code:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dotnet/archive/2014/02/24/a-new-look-for-net-reference-source.aspx
So that you could know which method inside costs most time.
From your provided code, it is not very clear if you use multi threads in your service, if not and your event handler is short, you could have a try with it, and there is a discussion about this topic:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/13f30e33-7f61-498e-a91a-ef982a63453c/event-handling-in-multithreaded-apps?forum=netfxbcl

Long delay when logging in Network User
Hello,
We are running into a weird problem.
We have an XServe G5 2.0 GHz DP with 5 GB RAM, providing multiple services to a small school.
The Users have Network-based accounts, and are authenticated via OD on the same server.
Lately, Users have started experiencing a very long delay when logging in.
At the login prompt, if they input the wrong password, they get "the shake" right away, which indicates that the authentication speed is rather fast. If they do input the right credentials, nothing happens for 25 - 30 seconds, and then login proceeds as usual, fairly quickly. The machines are normally responsive from there on, i.e. it is not a network performance issue. Also, even if no one is on the server, the first one to log in runs into the same issue, i.e. it is not a server overload issue. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? Any suggestions for a solution will be appreciated.
Best regards,
Alain ChammasHi
This could be down to a time sync issue. Are Server and Clients all using the same Network Time Server? Do you see a similar delay when presenting the login window displaying a list of network users? If you did not know this is a computer list mananged preference. Anything unusual in the system.log?
Hope this helps, Tony
