Long text in shipment creation VT01N

Hi All,
I have requirement that I have to place some default text into texts tab after pressing 'Planning' Button in shipment when creating shipment using VT01N .
I tried to save the text using SAVE_TEXT in exit but at the time of creation the shipment no is populated as '$0001'.
Actually I have to place delivery header text into shipment text and can be seen in texts tab while creating shipment.
your quick responses will be appreciated and reward points are awarded.

Hi,
Are you creating "shipment" with reference to "delivery"? If you are doing so, you can use "data transfer" routines.
Check transaction VOFM. Here, go to menu "Data transfer --> Texts". There will be two routine ( 1 & 2 ) here. This are just the sample routine without any code. You can copy one of then in customer name space ( 600 -999 ) and code as per your requirement.
Work with your functional owner to configuring this routine. This solution requires both configuration and some development so work with your functional owner.
This is waht SAP says about "text" routines.
Text data transfer routines are used to fine tune text transferred during the copying process from a selected reference document into the target. This is done via data transfer routines that can transfer and manipulate texts in the copy procedure. These data transfer routines are assigned, in customizing, to the access sequence field for data transfer for the text type.
When creating a new document with reference to an existing document, the system first checks the copy requirement assigned to the access sequence of the text type to determine if the corresponding texts should be automatically transferred. If the requirement is met, then the transfer of data begins from the reference document into the target. It is in this second step that the text data transfer routines defined here are called.
When looking at the code for the standard delivered text data transfer routines, or when writing your own, four standard work areas are used. These include:
FTVCOM - Communications block
FXTHEAD - Text header
FXVBPA - Partner
REFERENZ - Work area for text module
Note that SAP does not deliver any standard manipulations for data transfer of text, but rather delivers two viable user exit template routines for the user. Moreover, neither of the generic routines are assigned to the delivered text types. As a result, standard delivered texts are automatically transferred from document to document, without changes, if the assigned copy requirement is met.

Use Read_text function module.
you need to pass
ID
LANGUAGE
NAME
OBJECT to the function moduel
To find the Text id name language and object these are the following steps. Example: FB02
1. goto FB02, Enter Document number
2. from menuselect Goto>Header-->header Text..... New window will be displayed
3. select the Header Text. here you can see all the text.
4. click on the TEXT (which you want to know the Text id) , then press log ICON (you can find in bottom right of the text window) it looks like a rolled paper.
5. in the Next window you will find Text Name. Text ID, Language. etc...

Long text indicator against Notification task & SubOrder creation

Hi all,
We are using BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_ADD to create long texts against the notification tasks. Though the long texts are created and can be viewed through IW22, the long text indicator in QMSM table is not set and hence when I display the notification through IW23 and navigate to the tasks, the long text available icon is not displayed. I tried to use CREATE_TEXT and SAVE_TEXT as well. Somehow the long text indicator doesn't get set. Do I need to explicitly set this indicator after the BAPI call? Please provide your valuable inputs.
Also, I have one more issue. Is there a way of creating Sub Order against the PM order through a BAPI? We have a requirement to create a Sub Order against the superior PM order through transaction IW36. Could you please suggest if any of you have come across any BAPI that supports this requirement?

Cause:
As the create_text or save_text does creation of text at data base level and does not pass through all the screens of the particular transaction, so the text editor icon is not enabled [like in tcode IW23 (IW33) Notification display text editor, tables holding damage text and cause text indicator qmfe-indtx & qmur-indtx I ]
Solution:
Read existing text using FM READ_TEXT i.e. retain existing text in internal table, say IT_READ
Delete existing text using FM 'DELETE_TEXT'. Remember to set save_direct = x
Perform BDC to add dummy text doing call transaction. This will set text indicator to ‘X’.
Append your new ext to IT_READ.
Now create text again using FM 'CREATE_TEXT'. Remember to set save_direct = x
If you have requirement that created text should not be editable then you need to change format of IT_READ.
Like IT_READ-tdformat = ‘>X’ & IT_READ-tdline = ‘*<one space><your text>’ [may use CONCATENATE '*' IT_READ-tdline INTO IT_READ-tdline SEPARATED BY space.].

Creation of short text and long text?

Hi,
We create short text by using oe_fnd_attachments_pub.create_short_text_document and oe_fnd_attachments_pub.add_attachment API and to create long text we use fnd_documents_pkg.insert_row .
Why is it that we have different approaches for creation of short text and long text?
I know that oe_fnd_attachments_pub.add_attachment is used to attach a short text to some entity,but then why we dont do the same for long text?
Please lemme knw urgently ...

I looked into the document and i got to know few things as to how short and long text are created, but can u tell when the records are inserted into fnd_attached_documents, because i can see that records are inserted into fnd_attached_short_text and fnd_attached_long_text, fnd_documents but i dont see any insertion into fnd_attached_documents, can u lemme knw how and when it is done?

Operation Long text creation problem in IW32

Hi experts,
I have a requirement of showing a checklist pop up for all the new external operations in creating a MPA work order(IW32). And when the user answers the questions on the checklist, I have to copy all the questions and answers into the long text of the corresponding operation.
The problem here is,
for a case when the long text is not yet created for a new line item, when the pop up is shown and answers are filled, I am creating a new standard text using SVE_TEXT(setting the insert paramter 'X'), but the standard text is getting created in the database i.e a record is getting created in STXH with the text id, text name, text object of the operation. But when I go to IW32 and see the operation line it shows the create long text icon which says that the text is not created at all.
In a case where the long text is already created for the operation, and then the pop up is shown with the questions and answers are filled, the questions and answers are copied into the operation long text which is already created. So this works fine.
If any pointers regarding this please let me know.

Try passing SAVEMODE_DIRECT = 'X' and check..
also check if the text exists using the function module READ_TEXT once you do the SAVE_TEXT..

Creation of New Message by Customer - No Long Text

Hi Jackie,
Is your Basis part of the message is getting created.
Are you using the standard transaction type.
Check the Text in the Transaction data ---Overview tab
Both short text and long text should be present with other system details.

after that in display mode co03 that long text is not visilbe. tell me why and what are the setting required.

Promotion creation via BAPI - long text issue

I am going to use BAPI_PROMO_CREATE to create a promotion. Unfortunately this BAPI does not handle the long text piece of the promotion, and that is a requirement. Does anyone know of a BAPI that will create the long text for a promotion, or is there a generic BAPI for this functionality? I couldn't find one.

Error while saving Long Texts

Hello
We are using SRM7 Extended classic scenario.
We don't use shopping carts, rather create POs directly in SRM which will be transferred to ECC as per the standard.
Error:
I am getting an error "Error while saving Long Texts" during my PO creation. I get this message in a small pop-up screen. As soon as i click ok or close the pop up screen it kicks me out of the PO creation screen back into the main SRM screen.

Yes, only for Material POs
This is happening when I am creating the PO with a Material code. I can create free text PO without any issues.
This is a standard message and the message number is 022.

Have you checked whether the "/" is changed to "\" in the dbc file?

How to add the long text in Production order through FM

Hi,
Iam having custom program which has BAPI (BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE) inside it and this program is used to create Production orders with the details of Sales order Number,Line item,Plant,Order type,Quantity and Start date. This program is scheduled in Background.
Now client wants to add the Long text (seperate TAB in production order and they want to update the VC details of Sales order in the Long text area).
One option is after creation of Production order, through BDC(calling CO02 and update the long text) we can update the long text and client doesn't want this option.
Another option is after creation of Production order, using Function module SAVE_TEXT, Update the Long text in Production Order and this is not working in Production order (already my ABAP consultant checked it ).
If any one of you came across this requirement, pl share with me how you addressed it.

The method is quite simple, i presume you're quite well versed with doing recording, so the key thing to keep in mind is how to prepare the input file.
At my end i had about 5 lines of data which needed to be uploaded, hence i had a tab-delimited file with the order nos. in the first column & the five lines of text in five different columns (Refer format below)
