Loose fit in XY-Graph

Hi, all.
How can I get the "Loose Fit" Property to work properly in a XY-Graph?
I want the end markers of the Y-scale to be rounded to a multiple of the increment I set for Y-scale (that is 1). And I would like this to be working while I use the "PAN" tool. But I don't see any change when I set this property to TRUE, either I selected "PAN" or not.
What am I doing wrong?
By the way, I also want the plot area bounds to stay still when I use the PAN tool. I get changes in width when varies the Y-Scale.
Any suggestion?
I use LabView 8.6, and Windows XP.
Thanks,
Francisco

Hello:
The property "loose fit" works but in order to see this behaviour you must deal with a small scale, since it has not relation to the increment as you expected (and I also thought in the beginning). In the example I am attaching you can see this beahaviour and how changing the value of the increment does not affect to the result. Also, you do not need to modify the "active x-scale" o "active y-scale" since you have only one and that is the active. I have tried it on LabVIEW 2009. The VI is saved for 8.6 so that you can execute it but the behaviour is exactly the same in both versions.
I hope this can clarify the behaviour of this property.
Regards.

  • The CWGraph3D axis loose fit behavior

The CWGraph3D control's X,Y and Z axis behave as if they have a loose fit.  That is, they do not make their axis minimum and maximum limits correspond to what their data values are but instead round the minimum down and maximum up to some integer increment.  This often leaves significant empty space along the axis.  LabVIEW's graph has a loose fit property to turn off this behavior.  Does such a property exist for the CWGraph3D control ?

    Steve-
I do not beleive that there is any property node equalivent to the Loose Fit option available on teh waveform graph.

  • LabVIEW 2009 3D Plot has no Loose Fit property and Axis AutoScale does not function at run time ?

I cannot find a Loose Fit property for the new 3D plots (waterfall, ribbon) in LV 2009.  As a result, my data range of 1402 to 1407 ends up on a Z axis range of 1400 to 1500 and looks like a flat line.
The Z Active Axis properties Range Maximum and Range Minimum can be used to set the range but the Z Axis Autoscale property had to be changed to False using either the front panel Plot Properties at edit time or using the Range Auto Scale property at run time on the block diagram.  It could not be changed at run time by popping up on either the plot border or on the Color Palette.
In edit mode, R-clicking on the Color Palette's AutoScale Z did not make that property toggle or stick and did not change its function.
At run time, there are two AutoScale Z selections shown.  One along with the X and Y scales and another by itselfat the bottom.  Again, clicking the one that is part of the X and Y axis did not make its setting stick and did not have an effect.  What does happen though is that the other AutoScale Z shown at the bottom of the Color Pallete popup does toggle its state.  But clicking on the AutoScale Z shown at the bottom does not toggle its state.
The grey border region of the plot area contains at run time, popup setting for X,Y and Z AutoScale that likewise have no effect.
    Or am I missingsomething ?

    Steve,
you should be able to successfully change the scales based on the min and max values as long as you explicitly turn off autoscale. In your program, I just right-clicked the  Range Auto Scale property selected "change to write", then made a control so that I could set the value myself. Clean up the broken wires, and the program runs like it's supposed to - resetting it's scale range:
is this the result you wanted?

My earphones arent recognised by my iPod touch, no red light, does anyone know what to do?

If the earphones work in other devices but not your iPod you very likely have a worn-out or damaged jack in the iPod.  There are third-party place that will replace the jack or you can do it yourself if so inclined.

I've never seen a change in the graphs as a sole result of stopping a VI.
How do you stop the VI? (abort button, normal via a stop button, etc.)
Is there any extra code that executes at the end?
Is you graph axis set to "loose fit"?
What is your LabVIEW version? Do you have a simple VI that demonstrates the problem. Please attach it.
(And what's up with that attachment. You have a word document containing images of your VI front panel embedded in an excel sheet. Very convoluted. )

  • Scale Fit Not Working Correctly

    Hello,
I have a front panel with a tab control containing 12 tabs. Each tab contains a cluster with one of the controls as an XY Graph. When I populate each of the graphs with data, I want to set the "Scale Fit"  or "ScaleFit" property to 1 so that each graph is autoscaled 1 time. The problem I am running into is that only the graph that is shown is scaled correctly. The other 11 plots do not get scaled at all even if I set the "Autoscale" property to "On". This looks like a bug of some sort. Has anyone found a workaround? I tried turning on/off "Loose Fit" and this does not help.
I am running LV 8.5 on a WinXP machine.
    Michael

    Hi Mike,
Updating only 1 tab out of 12 doesn;t work, however, I guess I can do a single scale fit to other tabs if there has not been a scale fit done on the page before. Kind of a lot of work but I can swing it. Seems like NI should get this fixed.

  • Gap at the start of XY Graph?

    Hey there,
this is basically the way I've learned to build XY Graphs. Works perfectly fine, except for the gap at the start that is of varying size which changes over time but never disappears. Can anybody tell me where this comes from and maybe how to get rid of it?
    Have a nice day.

Its there due to how the x axis is scaling. Do you have auto scaling turned on? Is loose fit enabled or disabled?

  • Newbie Question - Distribution Graphs in Discoverer

    Hi there,
I don't seem to be able to produce simple population distribution graphs in Discoverer (10g) Desktop or Plus. I'm trying to graph something as simple as #Students over Age from a simple corresponding table.
Discoverer is not presenting me with options to select the source of Y axis and X axis values with (for example) a Fit to Curve graph type. All Discoverer does is assume that each of your columns are seperate series' which it will graph on the same page.
Any advice is most welcome - I'm sure there's something simple that I'm not doing right...
    Thanks
    Dennis

Hi. Did you ever resolve this issue? I have not used this version before and cannot fathom why you cannot amend x or Y axis sources. For example, we have added the percentages to a report between compliant and non compliant spend. We want to represent the trend of the percentages in a graph. However, we cannot because the data being picked up is the spend on the Y axis, not the percentages.
    Any ideas?

  • Loose Bumper Fix

Plagued by a loose fitting Bumper? Here's how I fixed mine...
After reading a post on another forum about a guy and a heat gun, I decided to try a similar, but different approach.
I don't have a heat gun, so I borrowed the wifes hair dryer.
    1.Remove Bumper from iPhone
2.Place Bumper flat on carpeted surface.(Gives a little "traction" so it doesn't blow away.)
3.Apply heat in a circular motion approx. 4 inches above Bumper for approx. 3 minutes. This may vary, but it's how I did it...
    4.Allow Bumper to thoroughly cool.
    5.Reinstall Bumper.
Worked great for me. The Bumper is now "snug as a bug in a rug"

JMcC24 thanks for letting me know about this fix of a loose fitting Apple Bumper. It was so frustrating to deal with when I would hold my phone and it would move around in the Bumper and there were even times when the Bumper would start to peel itself off my iPhone 4.
I followed your step by step process using a blow dryer to heat up the Bumper and I actually put in in the fridge directly after to give it a "shock" to help it cool faster. After about 2 minutes I pulled it out of the fridge and put it on my iPhone and....IT WAS SUPER SNUG!
Thanks again for the tip and I really appreciate it! I once again love the feel and look of my iPhone.

  • How to change 'half-moon' Layer Thumbnail to a graph

I've noticed that in some of my images, the Layers Thumbnail -- the black & white circle between the Layer Visibility and the Layer Mask -- is not a circle but a graph. How do I change from one to the other?
I can understand the graph, but what is the circle supposed to represent?

Thanks Zeno, for the suggestion. I had already checked out the section in PS Help that you provided the link for, but I couldn't work out why, when the setting for Layer Thumbnails were all set to small, that some of the images had graphs and other had the circles. You confirmed the solution and now I know where the problem was:
    * the images that had the graph were vertical format and there was enough vertical space to fit in the graph;
    * the images that had the circle were horizontal format. The vertical dimension must have been just under the size limit for the graph.
A bit confusing. I assumed the thumbnails would be scaled so that on a certain thumbnail size setting, the vertical dimension of the thumbnails was the same so that the spacing of the various layers remained constant. Not so. The longest dimension appears to remain constant.
    Anyway, problem fixed. Thanks.

  • Would a 30GB iPod Classic fit in a case for an 80GB-160GB iPod Classic?

I gave my daughter my old iPod 30GB.  She wants a case for it.  I found some cases on a site, but they say they are for 80-160GB classic iPods.  Would her 30GB fit in one of those cases?

There were several 30GB iPods, from 3rd gen to 5th gen.  Is this a "video" iPod (5th gen)?
If it's 3rd or 4th gen, it will definitely NOT fit.  If it's 5th gen, it probably will not fit, unless (maybe) it is really rubbery and flexible, or loose fitting.  The top edges on the new iPod "classic" are more rounded compared to the 5th gen iPod, although the overall dimensions are similar.
There seem to be a lot listings on eBay, if it's 5th gen.  Do a search on "ipod classic 5th gen case."  Pretty cheap, because they are old products.  NOTE:  There were two "thicknesses" for iPod 5th gen, depending on capacity of the hard drive.  30GB is the thinner type (for a 5th gen).  If the case is a hard shell, be sure you get the correct match.

  • Seagate 7200.3 Momentus: Hard Drive Loose in Unibody Chassis

Anyone experiencing a slightly loose fitting of their Seagate 7200.3 Momentus HD or with any other after market HD? Mine tents to shake around a bit in its fitting and I'm wondering if this is normal due to a size difference in the drive.

Silly question but does that model have the brackets to hold the drive in place? Look on the original drive and see if you see 4 little nubs on the drive where the screws are. If so that's what holds the drive in place and you need to move those to the new drive.

  • Loose USB Port Connection

I bought a brand new Playbook 32GB today and took it out of the box to charge it. I used the supplied charger to plug it into the wall. I found that the charger had a very loose fit laterally and can wiggle several degrees in each direction. The charging cable does not fit snugly into the port. This is obviously concerning due to the fact that it's brand new and will only get looser over time. The reason for the loose fit is not a loosely secured port inside the unit.  Upon closer inspection it appears that the micro usb port is not crimped to the trapezoidal shape of the micro usb head. The small metal frame is more of a full oval. I would guess this is a sign of a shoddy production mistake. Can anyone else comment on if their port is crimped to shape or experienced the same thing. A link to a photo is below. Please advise. Thank you.

  • How can I get my log-scaled chart to zoom in closer than one order of magnitude?

I have data that sometimes varies over many orders of magnitude, and sometimes varies narrowly. To handle the former gracefully, I chose to use a log scale on the chart for this data. However, when the differences are subtle, the chart does not close in any tighter than 1 order of magnitude.
Is there a way to get the chart to come in closer automatically? I've definitely seen ticks for 3.5*10^N, not just 1*10^N - but now they don't appear, let alone using them as the boundaries of the graph.
I'd rather not have to track the chart data in the program and use property nodes to change the scale programmatically myself!
