Losing connection after canceling query

We have noticed that when we launch a long running query and decide to use the cancel button that the connection is lost/broken. To recover we have to first disconnect then reconnect. We are on 3.0.0.4 build 04.34 with latest patch applied. This happens when connected to 10g or 11g. The issue is on both the windows version and the standard java version that we are running on solaris.

I ran it by clicking on the large green arrow in the work space. I tried it with the thin client and also the fat client via tnsnames and both with same result. I went to the logging page and clipped the top entries but there were a bunch of the

Possible fix for OS X 10.5.7, Airport, losing connection after sleep, restart, or cold reboot.
Issue: (For OS X 10.5.7 on iMac5,1, Intel Core 2 Duo)

- After sleep, restart, cold reboot, even though cannot connect to Internet, but the AirPort bars are still full, as if connected.
- Losing Internet connection after sleep, restart, cold reboot.
Possible Fix:
1.Open Network Preference, click on the Location drop down list > Edit Location... > click on the wheel button > Duplicate Location.
a)Select this newly setup location; Use Diagnostic button to connect to the internet. Select Network or enter WEP password if necessary.
b)Test to make sure you can connect to a web page.
c)Go to sleep & wake up.
d)This time, the Airport bar will start to show correctly. Before, it will always be full even when not connected. Now there will be no bars or grey out when not connected.
2.On the left hand side of the Network Preference Window, there is a list of services, such as Airport, build-in ethernet, built-in FireWire, bluetooth, etc.
a)Click on the wheel button on the bottom of the service list; select Set Service Order...; move Airport to the top of the list.
b)Delete any services which you are sure that you are not going to use, such as Bluetooth, etc.
3.Pick one of the locations mentioned in #1, and make it sure it is connected. If not, use Diagnostic button. If you have to select Network or enter WEP password to connect, make it so.
a)Check to make sure you can connect to a web page.
4.Go to sleep & wake up. The Airport bar should be filled up quickly. Try to connect to a web page.
5.Restart computer. Test a web page.
6.Shut down & Start computer. Test a web page.
7.When everything is working fine, you can delete the extra location that you created in step #1.
8.Click the lock on the left lower corner of the Network Preference window to safeguard the setting.

If my assessment is correct, the LIDE 200 driver is version 14.8.1 and dated 26-Sep-2008. It is possible that the driver will not work with the latest version of OSX. I would advise that you contact Canon and ask them the question.

It is not uncommon (though irritating) that devices no longer work when an OS is upgraded. One has to ask the question if (or why) the driver was not written in such a way as to be OS version independent.

I spoke to Canon over here in Australia. Not helpful at all. In fact they were about as useful as an ashtray on on motorcycle. Having said that the tech seemed to think that there would be an update soon. But that is assuming that Canon are aware that there is a problem with that Scanner under OS X 10.5.7.

WebI losing Mapping after BW Query element addition

We are on 4.1 SP1. We have this WebI on top of BW Query via BICS. After creating simple report, we added one element in BW Query and then changed data source and picked same query, NOW WebI has lost its mapping and there is no report.. Please see attached document and advise ,, Thanks a lot

You should not have to use ChangeSource feature at all in this case, ChangeSource is intended for switching from UNV to UNX/BICS source or when you want to change Universe/BEx Query ...
Here you just want to have a refreshed Universe on top of same BEx Query, which should work fine already if you edit query in WebIntelligence. In background there is a transient Universe generated each time so it takes into account modifications brought to your Query. (this is similar to what a refresh structure and then publish to Platform would do)
Did you close your session before adding object and loading QueryPanel ? There could be some cache bringing same old Universe without leveraging your changes ...
To make it safe I would save WebI document, close BILaunchpad session, re-logon and edit document and finally load QueryPanel : this would make sure no previous resources are being used when editing document.
If you still have problems at this point then please create a ticket to Support to have it investigated.

Losing connection after being 30 minutes online

Hey all,
My first post here, and it's a problem , hope that you can help me.
I'm having a bit of trouble with my graphite basestation, when i'm trying to connect it to my ibook g3 it works, but when i'm on it for about 30 minutes the airport connection is lost. I tried to reset the base station and check the antenna but the problem remains, after 30 minutes it switches off.
Does anyone know of this problem?

My network connection drops after a few seconds from restarting network (with /etc/rc.d/network restart). This has started happening a few days ago and I don't remember doing anything out of ordinary. Conky still reports some (very little) network traffic (4.0kb down, 0.1kb up, around that), but no browser works, and even ping doesn't work. Can anybody point me to the right direction?

The right direction would be posting more info and checking some chardware is applicable: are you using wired or wireless, if wired, check the cable, restart the router if you're using one, are you using dhcpcd or some other app etc. etc.

Game losing connection after 10 minutes

I'm playing Battlefield 1942 on my new Intel iMac with Leopard. I know Battlefield 1942 isn't officially supported on intel macs, but it seems to run fine once you get it installed and updated.
However, I can play online fine, but after 10 minutes or so I always get the "Warning Connection Lost" message and I'm booted back to the lobby. It's weird because it always happens 10+ minutes into the game.
All the ports needed in my mac firewall/router firewall are open. I looked at the firewall log and noticed that every time I'm disconnected the same message is posted in the firewall log. But I have no idea what it means:

The "cupsd is listening" is always posted whenever I lose the connection. Anyone have any ideas?

Yes, the ports are open on my router. I already have my firewall on my Mac set to "Set access for specific services and applications" with BF1942 on there.
If the cupsd has nothing to do with me getting disconnected, then it's eerily happening at the exact same time everytime I get disconnected. I mean everytime. I take note of what time it is every time I'm disconnected and then immediately go check the firewall log. Cupsd is always there happening at the same time as when I got disconnected.
I'm pretty sure the game isn't switching ports. From what I've read on the internet it uses a specific port. That port is opened up on my Linksys router.

Losing Connection After Hibernation/Sleep

Hi Everyone,
We are using an AirPort Express as our main wireless connection. Our XP laptop connects fine; however, when we come out of hibernation/sleep, it will not connect to internet (even though it shows we are connected on the status bar). The only way we've been able to reconnect is to restart the computer. I tried searching through the archieved forums, but to no avail. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Yes, you computer will loose it's wireless connection while it "hibernates/sleeps". In order to re-establish the connection, use your wireless network configuration to re-establish/select the connection. (Usually a little green arrow type icon in your menu bar near your clock, if you have it enabled)
(I'm not sure if you are using Windows to manage your wireless connection your your wireless manufactors wireless software, I've found better results using the mfg's software rather than windows)

All browsers lose internet connection after awhile

After upgrading Safari and Java yesterday, all of my internet browsers are losing connection after awhile (10 - 15 minutes), until I disable and enable Airport. However, when the browsers are dosconnected, the airport connection is still ok, because Mail stays connected. The disconnection in the browsers happens randomly.
So if 1 browser suddenly disconnects, all the other browsers cannot connect either. Mail stays connected. Browsers only connect after I disable and enable Airport
I tried the following stuff:
repair disk permission
maintenance
cleared java's cache
rebooted osx a few times
reseted router

When trying to install adobe reader the installation is 'losing connection' and cancelling.
Why is this?
It has installed mcafee and google chrome for me so there is nothing wrong with the ability of the computer to install those.

Use the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ (which does not contain any 3rd-party bundled software).

Errors FRM-40505 and ORA-03114 after cancel a query in a form

I have a Form (i'm working with 10g, i.e., Web) with property "interaction mode=non-blocking", and after execute the query, it pops-up the cancel query window, but when cancelled, the connection with the database is dropped.
Someone knows why it happens?

That could possibly be bug 1942743
The fix is to set the parameter pushjoin_predicate=false in the init.ora of your database.

Internet Connection loss after losing connection between 2 sites

Hello,
I have started working for a company over a year ago and recently we are running into an issue with losing internet after a loss of connection between companies site. Below is a summary of setup.
Company has 2 locations, Site A and Site B..both same domain
Site A has DC and other servers such as ERP, Document Control Software.
Site B has DC, Printer Server, File Server and other essentials servers.
Each site has own independed 20 MB connection.
Site A and B are linked via MPLS and only used for ERP, Document Control software, and DC traffic.
Recently we started to have frequent connection issues with the MPLS and as a result I started to notice none of the users at Site B can access the internet such as google.com, msn.com...etc. As soon as MPLS connection is restored interent works.
The DC at Site B was setup before I started working for company.
I have been trying for the past few days to figure out why Site B is losing connection when MPLS Tunnel is not operational...but so far no luck.
I am very sure that internet traffic is not routed via MPLS because when internet is working the IP lookup such as "whatismyipaddress.com" points to ISP IP address for site B. Also when doing tracert to external website the route is via ISP for
Site B.
I think this issue is related to DNS but cannot tell the cause or how to fix?

Having said internet is not routing via MPLS, Even i think to be a DNS issues,
Try to check the below
Ensure all the client DNS is set to AD DNS server
In AD DNS server ensure its not forwarding DNS query to Other site
During outage check any client PC manually changing the DNS IP to 4.2.2.2
- all client DNS are set to AD DNS server
- I checked the properties for the AD DNS and found there are 3 forwarders listed.
The first IP is at Site A which is resolved.
The second IP I am not sure about since it is not even in our subnet (not resolved)
The 3rd IP seemed to be for an old DC that is no longer operational (not resolved).
- During outage if I change client machine DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.2 they can access the internet.
I guess my issue is with the forwarders. Would the right step be remove all 3 forwarded and add 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2?

Losing 3G connectivity after upgrading to IOS 8.0.2

my iPad is now losing connectivity frequently after the upgrade and I get a "no service" and have to restart my ipad for the 3G to reconnect. I don't know how many times had to do this since the upgrade, it's really annoying as the restart takes a while to load.
anyone having this problem? What is Apple doing about this?

Can't do anything to table- data tab after cancelling initial query

When I select a table and go to "Data" tab, sqldeveloper executes initial query to fetch first 50 rows. While it does so, "refresh", "add" etc. icons, and "Sort..." button are blocked. The problem is, if I cancel that initial query, icons and buttons STAY grayed-out, so I can't refresh the table. Pressing enter on "filter:" field also doesn't work. The only way to restore functionality is close the tab and open it again.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open a large table
2) Filter it with some query
3) Sort results
4) Close the tab
5) Open the table again. "Sort" settings persist, so SQLDeveloper starts running a very long query
6) Press "Cancel Query" in the appearing box
Canceling the query somehow resets persisted Sort settings, so it works fine next time I open the table.

Umm, I'm not exactly sure what do you mean by that. I don't remember modifying anything in the preferences for persisted settings (like sorting order or hidden columns). In fact, I'm pretty sure there is no such settings in preferences.
As for reproducing the bug, may I ask you which step fails, exactly? Do sort settings reset when you open the table again? Or does the query executes instantly? Oracle sorts table too fast if it's under 1 000 000 rows, and it becomes visible on 8 000 000+ rows table.

Lost connection after wake up (T410)

Hello,
I have a permanent problem with losing WiFi connection after wake up (from hibernation and suspend). The access connection manager looses connection and cannot connect automatically (although the setting is set so). I have to connect manually every time and mostly even three times before it finally connects. The manager says either "driver was disconnected" or "operation was cancelled".
Is there any workaround, please? It's horrible to wait minute or two before I can use WiFi after the full wake up. In linux everything works fine

OFFICE 2013 - Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Query

Hi, I have installed office 2013 on a pc and used excel to run a query on a database and created a .qry query so I can use this data in word mail merge.
The query runs ok and returns the data.
However, when I go to take the data in through mail merge it comes up with a message "Confirm data source" ( I enabled this after reading kb article below) so I select "MS query files via DDE(*.qry, *.dqy)" as this is a .dqy I select
it. It says at the bottom of the screen word is starting query then comes up with the error "Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Query to complete the current task".
I have re-did the query from scratch and no difference I tried the recommend kb article 918594 and it still doesn't work.
I recreated the odbc link and still no joy.
Has anyone come across this and have they a solution I would be grateful.
