Losing connection to the Domain Controllers at a remote site

We have a remote site with a IPsec tunnel for a site to site connection and there are about a dozen window 7 systems on site.  Every 3 to 5 weeks, the systems start to lose the ability to log into the domain.  Running some tests, the DNS names
keep resolving, their subnet is setup in Sites and Services to the group with the DC's and they are setup correctly for IP settings but seems like they still can't connect back to the DC's.  From there, under network profiles, it says the domain network
is unauthenticated.
The only way we have found to fix this is to dis-join the computer from the domain and rejoin it.
Is there a way from the computer to force it to re-authenticate without having to do this or a better fix?

Hello Technsopyder,
Do you means all the Windows 7 use the IPsec will lose connection to the Domain Controllers every 3 to 5 weeks?
Do you receive the error code 5719 and 3210? Could you please provide the whole error message?
Please check if you need to change the password before this issue as Brano Lukic mentioned.
Best regards,

  • How to safely change the domain controllers that Exchange use from Out-Of-Site into the In-Site ?

    Hi Folks,
I'd like to know what's the best way to edit the Exchange Server 2007 entry
In-Site entries and removing the entries from Out-Of-Site safely without causing any downtime or problem with the workstations ?
From the MSExchange ADAccess Event ID 2080, I can see that the Domain Controllers that is currently used by Exchange Servers is all on the
In-Site lists which I need to decommission due to office building migration and downsizing, the workstations remain in the same building only the servers must go.
    Current configuration:
Exchange Servers AD Site: HQ1 (for all roles)
    Workstations AD Site: HQ1
    Proposed configuration:
Exchange Servers AD Site: Prod-DC1 (for all roles)
    Workstations AD Site: HQ1
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Steve's clarification is right.
From your description, you want to change the DC used by Exchange server. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
Please make sure the following things before setting the DC for Exchange:
    1. New DC has its own IP in its TCP/IP as primary DNS server.
    2. New DC is global catalog.
    3. New DC has correct DNS settings in the MSDC folder.
    4. Restart the Exchange active directory topology discovery service and watch the event viewer, there should be an event that discover both domain controllers. If this happens, then turn off the old DC.
Besides, topology information will remain in the system attendant service for 15 min, so the time to switch to the new one is about 15 minutes.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.

    Amy,
The Exchange Server has been rebooted couple of times but yes, all of the In-Site AD servers are still on not rebooted yet.
So in this case do you suggest me to demote the oldDC and turn off all of the In-Site DC/GC first and then reboot Exchange Server after wards one by one ?

I have an ipad 2 with airport express that I use to play and change music whilst teaching ballet class. Recently, I keep losing connection and the airport express appears to be getting quite hot. I did use Archos but changed to Apple for reliabilty! Can anyone help or should I just buy a new airport express.

I agree that it's probably interference. Only other possibility, since you mentioned it, it overheating. Is the express situated so that it is well ventilated? That is to say, not buried under other equipment and laying on its side? What does the status light do when you lose connection?

Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.

  • WRT54G v4 keeps losing connection to the internet

My WRT54G version 4 keeps losing connection to the internet. I've been on the phone w/ customer service so many times that the last time I think they gave up because after putting me on hold they never got back on the phone! :-)
Anyway one pattern I am seeing is that the router loses connection to the internet within two or three hours after I disconnect from the Cisco VPN and shut down my work PC. Has anyone else seen something like this?
    -Frank

I found that Linksys EasyLink Advisor is a needless program that ultimately downgrades your router from a good piece of technology to a problematic pile of junk. So, therefore, try uninstalling Linksys EasyLink Advisor to get your good, solid hardware back. All you need to do to in order to get your router to work is plug it into an outlet, plug your Internet connection into the router, and then connect your router to your computer. It should then work without software (i.e., LELA) complicating it up.
Now, if you feel the need to set up an SSID or security, which I highly suggest, type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser. Leave the user name blank, and type admin as the password. Go to the Wireless tab and type something in as the SSID. It could be anything, just as long as it isn't linksys. Click on the Wireless Security sub-tab. Select WEP as the security mode with a WEP encryption of "64 bits 10 hex digits". Now, in Key 1, you need to type in a 10-digit password of numbers 0-9 and letters A-F (I believe). I suggest you use your phone number since that is very convenient in this instance.
Hopefully what I suggested in the first paragraph resolves your problem. If not, I suppose you could ignore the second paragraph if you feel the need to reinstall LELA. *shudders*

I am experiencing network failures with my Airport Extremes: the main router is a 2nd Gen, the extension a 5th Gen.
The 5th Gen keeps on losing connection with the main router and thus with the internet.
    Any ideas why?

Is the second Extreme configured to "extend" the network created by the first? If so its position must be such that it has a strong wireless connection to the first Extreme. If it is at the limits of the first one's wireless range its connection will be tenuous. Place them closer together and determine if that makes a difference.

  • Best Practices for Setting up a Windows 2012 R2 STD Domain Controller in a Remote Site

So I'm looking for an article or writeup similar to the "Adding Domain Controllers in Remote Sites" TechNet article but for Windows Server 2012 STD R2.  Here is my scenario:
    1.  I want to setup the domain controller at Site A where the primary domain controller is located.  The primary domain controller is Windows Server 2008 R2.
    2.  Once the DC is setup I plan on leaving it on our network for a few days before shipping it to remote Site B for installation
    Other key items:
    1.  The remote Site B will have a different IP range than Site A but will be connected to Site A via a single VPN tunnel.  All the DCs that replicate with each other are on the same domain.
    2.  The 2012 DC that I setup for Site B (same domain in same forest) will be a DHCP, DNS, and WSUS server all replicating to the primary DC at Site A
    Questions:
    1.  What items can I setup while it's at Site A without effecting or conflicting with the existing network and domain controller?  Can I setup a scope once the DHCP role is added?
    2.  All of our DCs replicate through Sites and Services, do I have to manually add this to our primary DC for the new DC going to remote Site B?  Or when does this happen automatically when I promote the DC?
All and all I'm just looking for a list of Best Practices for 2012 or a Step by Step Guide.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your posting.
When you install AD DS in the hub or staging site, disconnect the installed domain controller, and then ship the computer to the remote site, you are disconnecting a viable domain controller from the replication topology.

  • Site to Site VPN connection for two Domain Controllers

I need to set up a site to site vpn connection using 2 pix 500 series firewalls to connect 2 domain controllers. Once the site to site vpn is established, do the servers automatically see each other for replication?
    Thanx.

My Active Directory guy has taken a good look at a small site-to-site VPN setup that I'm having a BIG problem with, and his answer is "They're supposed to." He said that as long as DC#2 (in the remote office) has the ability to resolve DNS for DC#1 (in the primary office) then the two should automatically replicate.
I have a two-office IPSec site-to-site tunnel between two 831's running 12.4.11T (soon to be upgraded to the latest 11T or even 15T1). XP SP2 machines in the remote office have full visibility back to the shares in the central office, and pings and nmap scans work perfectly in either direction, but my newly-added DC#2 in the remote office isn't replicating back to DC#1 (the original DC for the environment). I ran a full nmap scan from the central office against DC#2, and can see all of the expected ports/services open (e.g. 389(LDAP), 445 (msds), 135, 137, 3389, etc) but I can't view shares on DC#2 (or any other PC in the remote office) from the central office. Again, DC#2 and remote office PCs have no problem seeing shares back at headquarters.
Sorry for not being more helpful - hopefully someone out there can shed more light on the topic. If not, I'm going to call it into TAC and I'll let you know.
But again, from an Active Directory perspective this should 'just work' so it seems that either the IPSec tunnel or perhaps the "ip inspect" IOS CBAC firewalls are getting in the way.

  • Applocker policies are not refreshed when client is not connected to the domain

    Hello all,
We have a customized solution where a domain gpo applies applocker rules to block almost all applications. We have a software to enable some features on the client computer's (Win8.1) local policy, whenever it is needed. The enabling process is executed
through powershell commandlets. So far there is no problem we can manage these points very well.
The problem is, when this software enables access to a software on the client, if the user disables the network connection, our software cannot switch the local applocker policy back to the blocked state. Actually the local policy will not be re-evaluated
by Applocker services on the client, so the application cannot be blocked again until client is connected back to the domain.
Is this the designed behaviour of Applocker? Do we always need to have a domain connection, even to apply the modified local security policies on the client?

    http://technet.microsoft.com/zh-cn/library/ee449480(v=ws.10).aspx
We don't need to have a domain connection, even to apply the modified local security policies on the client.
Please check event view to se if ther is any erros in it.

  • AirPort Express losing connection to the internet when part of WDS

    Hi,
I have an AirPort Extreme Baste Station (802.11n) and an AirPort Express Base Station. I have set the Express to extend the wireless signal via WDS. However, after a while the internet connection seems to drop. My computer still tells me I have full signal, and AirPort utility reports no problems, but there just isn't a connection to the internet! If I turn off the Express and then turn off AirPort on my computer, and turn it back on again, I can access the weak Extreme signal.
This is very frustrating. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to what the problem could be?
    Thanks very much.

I had been experiencing the same problem -- Airport Express extending an Aiport Extreme N base station via WDS constantly dropping the connection, but still showing solid green on the LED. I'm also using the WPA/WPA2 Personal encryption scheme over the whole network, and don't want to use no encryption at all or use WEP (which is pretty much the same as no encryption at all).
Anyway, I seem to have found a solution that works on my system at least. After I made the change outlined below, my connection has been up and running for 5 days now after losing the connection about once every 3 hours or so before that:
    1. Open the Aiport Utility, click on the AEXN base station, and click Manual Setup.
    2. Click the Advanced icon in the toolbar.
    3. Click the IPv6 tab.
    4. From the IPv6 drop-down menu, select Link-local only.
    5. Click Update.
The AEXN base station will restart with the new settings. You may also have to unplug the Airport Express WDS remote, and plug it back in after the AEXN base station has restarted.
You also might want to change the radio channel on both the base station and the Airport Express to use channel 11.

  • Losing Connection to the Network

    Hello all,
For several years I have had problems with getting disconnected while playing video games whenever someone calls.  Now I am having the problem but nobody is calling it just kicks me offline for no reason.  I thought the problem before was that my phone and wireless were the same Ghz (2.4) but now that the phone isn't causing interference I don't know what is. My Router is a broadband 2.4 GHz Wireless-G router - Model # WRT54GS.  I also have a AARIS Touchstone Telephony Modem that Comcast gave us.  The problem that I thought I solved was by adding in a linksys Wireless-G Range Expander so that the connection could go from my room upstairs down to my basement, this is not the case anymore.  I seem to be able to play for 20 minutes or so but then it says I do not have connection to the network, the only things I can think of are:
    1. We need a new router, this one is old and outdated.
    2. With no password on our connection someone is using it and causing too much activity. If that's the case should I get rid of the expander and or add a password?
Thanks for any of your help or suggestions.

Also change the channel on the router's wireless to 11. This is the least used frequency.
Also keep your phone away from the router. Can't tell you how many calls I got because of cordless phone interference when I worked tech support

  • I keep losing connection to the internet

I've had this problem for a while and I'd hoped that 10.5.1 would have fixed it but it hasn't. I was finally able to get things setup so I could at least access my network wirelessly on my 12"powerbook but now it drops connection to the internet all the time. I'll load a couple pages and then on the 3rd or 4th it hangs....spins forever and never loads the page. I have to turn off airport, turn it back on again and then reload the page. Any ideaS?

Have you tried adding local DNS servers? This sounds a bit like the problem I had that Erik W solved by having me stop using DHCP for DNS servers and adding my ISP;s local DNS servers manually - do not know if this has been fixed in 10.5.1 or not since I'm back to my house that has wired internet

  • Flash Players Crash Due Losing Connection To The Internet Server , Why is that Happening ?

I have been trying to install these Flash Players ,but at the end of the downloading mode it loses connection to the Internet Server and crashes the install . It is very frustrating and I am giving up . Adobe Reader does the same thing , what is there to do ?  I have Windows 8 , the Internet Explorer and Chrome . Still nothing works at all .  If nothing gets straighten out here with this Flash Player and Adobe Reader by the end of the Holidays then I am going to take my computer and have it cleaned out .  Because I've had it with Flash Players and I am tired of it all .

Download the Adobe Flash Player FULL offline installer directly by clicking one of the following links.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Download the Adobe Reader FULL offline installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Those require NO internet connection to install once you've downloaded them.

  • I cannot update, it just says its connecting to the server and does nothing but sit there.

    (1) -Firefox keeps crashing for no reason. (2) -I am offered an update but when I say yes to update, the window shows that my MacBook Pro is trying to connect to the server. However, this goes on for hour after hour and never actually connects, or downloads the update. I have also a MacBook Air, which shows the same symptoms.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
