Lost Power to Mac and Applications deleted

I have a new iMac which was supposedly connected to a UPS which turns out was faulty. Anyway I lost power to my building, which caused a power spike to hit the Mac, and it lost power. When I turned it back on, it was missing the applications that I had running at the time the power was lost.
When I went to run Safari or Mail from the dock it displayed a question mark, when I searched the hard disk for the applications they were no longer there, completely missing, not in the trash, no where, searched the hard disk and none were found. I have had to reinstall the applications again in order to enable them to run.
Has anyone heard of this?

The iPad should be asking you for the Apple ID and Password when you turn it on.

Note that there's no such thing as "PowerPC files." PowerPC applications won't work on OS X 10.7 or higher, but the files created by those apps can still be opened if there is an updated version of that app. For example, if you have MS Office 2004, you cannot open any of those Office apps, and thus cannot open any of your Office documents. However, if you upgrade to Office 2011, or some other substitute (such as Apple's iWork suite or the free OpenOffice or LibreOffice), you will be able to open those documents again just fine.

Icloud lost in finder favorites and applications

Hi everybody,
after getting my new imac with mountain lion (I think) I more or less immediately deleted icloud from my finder favorites and (think) from my applications, too.
So now I still have icloud in the system preferences pane, but would like to have it back in my finder favorites and applications.
Already tried to find it in the mountain lion install.pkg, because I can't find it anywhere on the harddisk in the finder search anymore.
Tx for your help. Any suggestions well appreciated

Open a Window and in the sidebar click on the icon of the house - that is your user folder (and it has your account name). Now look in the window for your Pictures folder. Drag it onto the sidebar and release it. It should be back in the sidebar.
You cannot drag items from the sidebar to move them. If you want to put an alias of the Pictures folder on the desktop, find it in your user folder and drag it to the desktop while holding command + option.

FW CS4 Mac: Top left of window lost under Tools Panel and Application Bar

Somehow Fireworks started opening all my windows pushed to the top left, and tucked under the tools panel and the new Applications Bar - the only way to move windows, is to un-snap the bars and pull them off of the top of the screen -- really annoying. I tried throwing out FW CS4's prefs files - no help. Changing the view mode - no help...
Help?

These are the steps that should be followed:
Restore default preferences
Quit Fireworks.
Locate the Fireworks      Preferences file on your hard disk and delete it.
The exact location of this file varies from system to system.
In Windows, preferences are      in your user-specific Fireworks configuration folder.
    Windows [Drive]:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS#\English\
In Mac OS, preferences are in      the Library/Preferences folder in your user folder. For information about      locating your Mac OS user folder, see Apple Help.

Note: On Mac OS, most      Fireworks user-specific configuration files are stored in your      user-specific Application Support folder.
          The Fireworks CS4 Preferences file is an exception.
3. Restart Fireworks.
The next time Fireworks is launched, a new preferences      file will be created that restores Fireworks to its original      configuration.

Lost connection to .Mac and Mac Mail

I have been locked out of my .mac account and my mac email account because for some reason the system does not accept my password (which I know is correct) and my personal information (also correct). I have used this account for years, but now have lost contact with people mailing me at this address and all back up information, photos on home page, etc. Mac says it will send my pasword to my old e-mail, but this does not help me because I can't access it. (Apple's technical support people could not help me, when I called).

Yes. Set up iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences like this:
The photos get imported into an Event automatically. Always confirm that the photos have been safely imported before deleting off your iPad. Sometimes importing takes a while and you don't wan't to jump the gun on the iPad.

I bought a new Mackbook Pro and I wanted it to set it up.
I tried to get iCloud to work properly but since the computer is new, I had the whole run around.
Unforunately, during the process of backing it up... It cleared all of my pictures.. not realizing what I did.
What can I do to get my photos back on my phone or the computer? Remind you, this is a new computer.
I still have my old pc but i havent synced that one to my phone in over a year as well...
I know that i havent deleted the pictures manually, so they have to be SOMEWHERE!!!
What can I do ?????

Slightly off topic, but I use a Tenba Aircase when I need to travel with my Mac Pro. It's much lighter and doesn't always incur oversize/weight on airplanes. With Apple totally flaking out on the pro market, I may move to a suped-up iMac, which would certainly be lighter.

I have the same problem. I have never had a problem with Firefox before, and use it as my main browser. However recently, after updating to 3.6.8, its been crashing all the time. Up to 20 times an hour. Usually it occurs when I click a link from a Google search, or in Yahoo. Even if I send in a crash report and restart Firefox, it crashes as soon as the same page is brought back up, or the same link is clicked. I have also had it crash when completely idle. Its very frustrating as it is my favorite browser. I've resorted to using Google Chrome for the time being.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

I've tried it but since I'm using a USB disk drive it keeps freezing up or showing you a folder blinking folder with a question mark. (?). When I start the mac up I hold the control button until the Mac OS install disk shows up. My hard drive doesn't show up anymore.
