LoV binding dynamically

Can you please point me how to make ListOfValues binding dynamically instead of define it pageDefinition at design time?

JDev 11.1.1.6.0
Use case
A dummy view definition is changed at runtime. there always exists variable columns. and LOV are defined at runtime.
When we want to use this lov at page, the page must have page definition and the definition must have pre-defined "listOfValues' binding.
This is the core problem. we cannot pre determine listOfValues binding count.
So, the question is how to define 'listOfValues' binding definition to a pageDefinition(BindingContainer at runtime).
This query is raised in the context of BUG 14553391

  • How to add LOV Data dynamically

    Hi Experts,
    Working in JDEV 11.1.1.3.0
    I have a requirement as need to add LOV values dynamically.
    I have Button to add rows in the table(transient VO), table as 2 columns one is value and another one is description, this description is lov(InputListOfValues -- Another Transient VO).
    This ListValues are dynamic, i need to get these values from Webservice call, this i have already written which is working fine.
    Now My requirement is the LOV should be get values dynamically for each corresponding value in the row.
    For this in add method, Added data to the LOV TransientVO, but when i click on inputComboLOV symbol, i am not getting any values, i put debugger values are setting to the transient VO,
    but when i click on lov symbol i am not getting proper values.
    Is there way to implement this requirment, can any one suggest me.
    Can we make transient VO as LOV VO?

    Hi,
    I think what you need to do is to access the Web Services from a programmatic view obeject to build a model driven LOV. If you did this then have a look here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/89-adfbc-lov-switcher-454168.pdf

  • JDev 9.0.3 LOV-Binding Bug?

    Hi!
    I've got a little problem with JDev 9.0.3 when migrating my project from JDev 9.0.2. All known Bugs from JDev 9.0.2 seem to be fixed but therefore other bugs appeared.
    My Problem in detail:
    I have 2 views (simplified):
    ORDERVIEW
    -- OrderId (DBSequence)
    -- OrderTypeIdFK (Number)
    ORDERTYPEVIEW
    -- OrderTypeId (Number)
    -- OrderTypeDescription (String)
    On a panel I display a textfield with OrderId and a ComboBox which should display the according OrderTypeDescription.
    So I created a LOVBinding on this ComboBox:
    LOV-ViewObject
    OrderTypeView
    -- OrderTypeId
    TargetViewObject
    OrderView
    -- OrderTypeIdFk
    LOV attributes to display
    -- OrderTypeDescription
    In JDev 9.0.2 this works perfectly, besides the missing search-function.
    When migrating to 9.0.3 without performing any changes I got the following exception when changing a OrderView-Row by selecting another OrderTypeDescription from the ComboBox:
    oracle.jbo.domain.DataCreationException: JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:oracle.jbo.domain.Number with value: Buy
    ("Buy" is one OrderTypeDescription)
    It seems that JDev wants to write OrderTypeDescription into the OrderTypeFK-Field. Of course, that can't work...
    If I change "LOV attributes to display" to "OrderTypeId" it works fine, but that's not what I want....
    Any suggestions? Thanks a lot
    Bernhard

    I have a problem very much like the one Bernhard described but in 9.0.2. A combobox with LOV-binding first worked fine but then I decided to make the control non-editable to force the user select one of the list items, not modifying the combobox contents by keyboard. After all, it makes no sense to let the user write something that has no counterpart in the LOV list. So I added 'myCombo.setEditable(false)' in my code. The result was that the combobox still shows Ok a description corresponding to an id value found in database but if I pick another value in the combobox list and try to update it to database then I get the same error Bernhard did. Is this the same bug? Should I upgrade to 9.0.3 (we are planning to do it) and get the patch to it or is there any other remedy?

  • [2 Bugs] BC4J/JClient 9.0.3 JComboBox + LOV Binding

    I may have stumbled across some other bugs.. Here's how you may reproduce them:
    2 Tables (both are filled with proper values, PK's and FK's are set):
    EMP(ID: NUMBER, DESC: VARCHAR2, DEPT_ID: NUMBER)
    DEPT(ID: NUMBER, DESC: VARCHAR2)
    All appropriate ViewObjects and stuff have been generated and are in place.
    I have a JClient Panel and on it sits a JComboBox.
    The model of the JComboBox is set through the property editor to a
    JClient LOV Binding which looks as follows: DEPT.ID goes into EMP.DEPT_ID
    and the displayed LOV attribute is: DEPT.DESC
    Now, when I run the program, I attempt to select a new value from the JComboBox.
    This will succeed, but as soon as the JComboBox looses focus, I get this exception:
    oracle.jbo.domain.DataCreationException: JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:
    oracle.jbo.domain.Number with value: <insert displayed value in JComboBox here>When I add DEPT.ID to the displayed LOV attributes, no exception is thrown.
    That's because the String "(some number) (spaces) (some string)" will in
    fact be parsed to a valid number.
    However, because of this measure, only the DEPT.ID will be shown in the JComboBox
    when it's in its 'closed state'.
    This leads me to the second bug. When selecting multiple attributes to be
    displayed into the JComboBox, the order in which I put them doesn't seem to
    'stick'. Everytime the ID attribute is first and the rest follows in the same
    order in which the table's columns have been defined. Re-ordering them
    manually in the property editor, doesn't seem to help. The order will be
    forgotten after I close and re-open the property editor.
    The first bug doesn't seem to have any real negative effect. The new value
    is stored nonetheless; after committing and restarting the application,
    all new values are still available.
    (Stack Trace follows)
    Hope This Helps
    Arno

    As promised, here's the stack trace. The 'offending' value is "Rubriek".

  • LOV Binding issue in ADF JClient Component Demonstration

    hi
    There seems to be a problem with committing the changes made with the "LOV Binding" in the "ADF JClient Component Demonstration".
    see "ADF JClient Component Demonstration" :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/jdev/1012/jclient_guide/adf_jclientcomponentdemo.zip
    scenario (using JDeveloper 10.1.2) :
    (1) run componentdemo.StartFrame
    (2) click the first button to get to the "LOV Binding Demo"
    (3) click in the "State" field and press F3
    (4) select a new value from the "List Of Values", click OK
    (5) notice the value in the "State" field has changed, click "File" > "Exit"
    (6) click on "Commit" when asked "How do you want to close the transaction?"
    (7) run componentdemo.StartFrame again and navigate to the "LOV Binding Demo" again
    (8) notice that the "State" field still has its old value
    How can this be explained?
    thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    thanks for your reply Frank
    To verify what the behavior would be in the JDeveloper version it was built for, I tried to open the Workspace in JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 and got this "Unable to Open File" message:
    "File D:\<path>\ADFJClientComponentDemo.jws was saved in version 10120 file format and cannot be opened with an older version of JDeveloper 10g."
    To make sure, I downloaded this again
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/jdev/1012/jclient_guide/adf_jclientcomponentdemo.zip
    and I got the same error message.
    Could you please hint to a solution for this (in JDeveloper 10.1.2 if possible).
    greetings

  • JComboBox, LOV-Binding, OutOfMemory

    Hi all,
    using a combobox with lov binding and a table with more than 600 entries is producing an outOfMemory-Error after a while.
    That can be seen (e.g. in Task-manager under Windows) if just srolling up and down the popup window of the combobox (Very bad... :-( ).
    Does anyone know how to prevent this ?
    I think it must be some problem with the JUMultiAttrListCellRenderer class of oracle.jbo.uicli.controls but I am not sure about this.
    Thanks in advance
    Guido.

    You're using a combo to populate 600 entries ....
    Wow! Swing default Combo model is not designed to handle large sets of data specially if this data is an object like a Row representing a db table row...
    What's basically happening is all the 600 or more entries are being loaded upfront which is sending all your cpu cycles and ultimately out-of-memory...
    You may either 'set the vm parameter' for more memory
    (use java -mx option)
    or
    you may use the Button Lov binding to pop this LOV list in a dialog which then uses delayed fetch.
    or
    you may write a 'custom ComboBox Model' that does not fetch all the data upfront.

    I need help to bind the newly created dynamic attribute in the VO with my newly created column in the ADF table which has a input text as child.
    My problem is binding the is not working properly as values entered in the Table are not reflected in the VO.
    And when i insert a new column in between two columns which has already filled values the data in the rows does not shift coreespondingly..

  • XML Schema binding - dynamic form

    I am new to Designer and XML. I have been given a basic interactive form and have persevered for a couple of (often frustrating) weeks to extend its functionality to link to an xml schema and provide for dynamic record creation. Unfortunately I am still having problems when adding new instances of subforms.<br /><br />I have a main form for reporting issues. Underneath it there are major components on a subform (can be multiple major components for each issue) and under major components are sub-components (can be multiple sub-components for each major component) on a child subform of major. I can add and delete instances of the subforms for both levels of records.<br /><br />I have created an xml schema based on the form since it already existed, and so the form fields have not inherited properties from the schema. However, I have bound the fields in the form to the xml fields through a data connection. The schema basically looks as follows (bot not literally the same as you will see from the tags):<br /><br /><element complextype issue><br />   <element issueId string/><br />   ...<br />   ...<br />   <element complextype majorcomponent unbounded><br />   <element majcomponentname string/><br />   ...<br />   <element complextype subcomponent unbounded><br />      <element subcomponent string/><br />      <element quantity string/><br />      ...<br />      ...<br />      </element><br />   </element><br /></element><br /><br />My problem is as follows: <br /><br />When I add an instance of a sub-component or major component subform, the first new instance appears to work correctly. However, every subsequent one inherits the values of the previous record and when it is changed, it changes the values of existing fields of the same name but of a different node. When I change each element in the xml schema to "unbounded", the forms appear to work properly but the values are then not nested correctly in the outputted xml data file (many records will appear under one sub-component, for example, when a new sub-component should be added for each).<br /><br />I suspected my problem might be that the "unbounded" property in the schema of the major component and sub-component elements are not linked to the Designer form because the major component and sub-component subforms are not bound to the xml schema. The reason they are not bound is because if I bind the subform, the first element, major/sub component name as applicable, loses its binding.<br /><br />I am sorry if this doesn't make any sense but I am hoping that someone might recognise the problem I am talking about as it is really creating much bother.<br /><br />Thanks.

    Thanks Justin for the reply. Unfortunately I can't explain exactly what was happening because I didn't keep sufficient notes and now the form is behaving differently. You are right in that when I bind the subform to the xml schema element, child fields do change their bindings from a full to a relative path. I had seen this before on all except the first field on a subform, which had losts any binding reference at all.
    I finally gave up on the schema and bound the forms to sample xml data. This fixed my problem. Now (several days later), I have revisited the problem and deleted my data connection to the xml file to connect to the schema once again. I am quite sure I have not changed the schema at all, nor the form, but for some reason it now appears to work correctly.
    I will continue to work with it, once again but thanks very much for your interest.

  • JUComboBox LOV Binding Issue

    Hi,
    I am getting a problem in JUComboBoxLovBinding.
    Problem Description --
    I have created a JComboBox with used LovBinding (using two view objects -- resortVO and testVO ). The _resortVO is the LOV VO instance.
    There is one button which rollbacks the transaction and create a new row for the non-lov view object instance.
    I followed the following steps -->
    1. Run the application
    2. Press the Button.
    3. Select an item (say 'ResortA') from the combo box
    This sets the ResortId for the _testVO's current row.
    4. Again press the Button
    5. Then select the same item again i.e. ResortA.
    This does not set the ResortId for teh _testVO's current row.
    Question -- Why the ResortId is not get selected in Step 5?
    The sample code is here --

    Okay. So it's not the rollback.
    Reading your posting one more time, I see that in point 5 you write:
    "Then select the same item again".
    The problem does not occur when a different item is selected? If that's the case, then it's probably some kind of optimization in the binding that only sets the value when it actually changes.
    You could try to do something like that:
            _createButton.addActionListener(
                new ActionListener() {
                    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        _panelBinding.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().rollback();
                        _testVO.executeQuery();
                        Row row = _testVO.createRow();
                        _testVO.insertRow(row);
                       // New line to insert:
                        _resortVO.reset();
            );This should ensure that a navigation happens.
    You can get the binding from the JUPanelBinding if your main application has access to that. See the getControlBinding() and findControlBinding() methods in JUFormBinding (a super class of JUPanelBinding).

  • Attribute Binding dynamically created fails validation

    Hello.
    In my taskflow I need to create both an Attribute Binding and a UIComponent (RichInputText), this is the code:
    DCBindingContainer dcBindings = (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding it = ADFUtils.findIterator("MyViewIterator");
    JUCtrlAttrsBinding nb = JUCtrlAttrsBinding.createAttributeBinding((JUFormBinding)dcBindings,null, "MyView", null, "MyViewIterator", "MyNewField");
    dcBindings.addControlBinding("MyNewField", nb);
    Then I create the RichInputText in a PanelFormLayout with his validator:
    *ValidatorTag.BindingValidator vb = new ValidatorTag.BindingValidator(null,JSFUtils.getValueExpression("#{bindings.MyNewField.validator}"));*
    *((UIXEditableValue)newRichInputText).addValidator(vb);*
    The problem is on the validator.
    I see the new InputText in my page and the value is right, but when I submit the field I see this error:
    "Unable to resolve a Validator instance using either validatorId '' or binding '#{bindings.MyNewField.validator}'."
    If I create the Attribute Binding at design time (in my PageDef) and I create dynamically the UIComponent with the validator, there is no problem!!!
    Why with the dynamic creation of the Attribute Binding, the validator doesn't works (the others bindings properties work perfectly) ?

    Use
    Checkbox.bindChecked("<<ValueAttributeName>>);
    or
    Checkbox.bindChecked("<<.ValueNode.ValueAttributeName>>);
    if the the attribute is inside a valuenode.

  • Set region and LOV properties dynamically

    Hello,
    I am building a page with 2 LOV fields, and I need help for two parts.
    My questions are:
    : Where do I write code to control if region is showing / hiding?
    : How do I change a bind-variable in my SQL-View-Object that is used in a LOV?
    Details about my page:
    I have a page with 2 regions.
    - Region A
    ...LOV projectID
    - Region B
    ...LOV subTaskID
    I have added a basic Controller Object for Region A, and now I am stuck.
    I want the page to work as:
    1) When the user visits page first time, I want only Region A to show
    ....(the user must pick a ProjectID)
    2) After selecting projectID and clicking a button, then page refreshes, and Region B shows as well.
    ....(so the user can pick a subTaskID)
    The subTasks shown depend on the projectID selected
    (I use a bind variable WHERE TABLE.projectID = :1 clause)
    I don't know where to put the code to "make region visible / invisible".
    And I don't know where to put code to change that bind variable in region B LOV VO
    Thanks in advance for your help

    Thanks for your help.
    I have the system mostly working now.
    However, now I'm stuck on the exact code for using my HashMap. I don't know how to take passed-values out of the HashMap and place them into Region A messageLOVInput field1 or messageTextInput field2
    //Controller object: Function processRequest
    super.processRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    if(pageContext.getParameter("ProjectIDParam") != null)
    String pID = pageContext.getParameter("ProjectIDParam");
    String pNum = pageContext.getParameter("ProjectNumberParam");
    // Now I'm stuck here - Can't set default values in messageLOVInput item or messageTextInput item
    As review:
    Added this code to Application Module Impl file
    public void SetSalesLOVBindVariable(String givenProjectID)
    ..WORKTakeoffAMImpl thisAM =
    ....(WORKTakeoffAMImpl)this.getApplicationModule();
    ..OAPlsqlViewObjectImpl theVO =
    ....(OAPlsqlViewObjectImpl)thisAM.getWORKCustomLOV1();
    ..theVO.setWhereClauseParams(null);
    ..theVO.setWhereClauseParam(
    ....1,new String(givenProjectID));
    Then I added this snippet to the processFormRequest for Region A:
    String projectID = (String)pageContext.getParameter("ProjectID");
    WORKTakeoffAMImpl am =
    ..(WORKTakeoffAMImpl)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    am.SetSalesLOVBindVariable(projectID);
    HashMap params = new HashMap(2);
    params.put("ProjectIDParam",
    ..(String)pageContext.getParameter("ProjectID"));
    params.put("ProjectNumberParam",
    ..(String)pageContext.getParameter("SelectProjectLOV"));
    pageContext.setForwardURLToCurrentPage(
    ..params,
    ..true, // retain the AM
    ..OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_NO,
    ..OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES);

  • How to bind dynamic row data to submit it by HTTP submit (PHP) - addInstance and Data Binding

    Hi,
    i have got a problem with submit HTTP all data (variables) from PDF to submit.php.
    I have got table with dynamic add/remove Table Row button. When i add it their names are Table.Row[0] , Table.Row[1], Table.Row[2] etc. Only Table.Row is real, and every other row is create dynamically by addInstance script command.
    When i fill "Data Binding" box like this: "Use name(Row)" then after submiting it do PHP i will see only last Table.Row data. For example if last would be Table.Row[3] then i will see only this on my submit.php and the others will be replaced by this value. This is happen becouse of replacing value by value with the same name (data binding is seeing only one Table.Row without instance name:"[1]", "[2]", "[3]" etc.).
    I guess that if i would change something to get addInstance command with Row names like Row1, Row2, Row3 then all will be ok.
    Another way it`s to change something in the "Data Binding" box (Object > Binding Tab) to get relative name like Row[*] instead of "Use name(Row)".
    I don`t know how to solve it and i need your help

    Create a binding for your dataTable.
    In the binding create a UIData element with gettters and setters.
    You can manipulate rows and columns from it.

  • How to bind dynamic data to JNet

    Develop tools: NWDS 7.1
    Server: Windows2000
    Does anyone have experiences with using JNET within Webdynpro Project ?
    In our case, we use JNet to generate a hierachical network diagram in the Webdypro's GUI. The data source is from the tables in a DB. However, till now, we only know how to let JNet generate the network diagram from a static XML file.
    Since the data in the DB changes all the time, how to let the network diagram reflect the newest data status automatically? That is, how to bind JNet to a dynamic data source then?

    Hi,
    Network UI element is related with Jnet. What you need to start up working with this is you need to create a context structure mentioned below.
    Node:Source
    Element--- xml -> this should be of type binary.
    Place the following code in the init.
    ISimpleTypeModifiable mod = wdContext.nodeSource().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("xml").getModifiableSimpleType();
    IWDModifiableBinaryType bin = (IWDModifiableBinaryType)mod;
    bin.setMimeType(new WDWebResourceType("xml", "application/octet-stream", false));
    ISourceElement element =wdContext.nodeSource().createSourceElement();
    wdContext.nodeSource().addElement(element);
    try
    fileName = WDURLGenerator.getResourcePath(wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart(), "jnettest.xml");
    element.setXml(readFile(fileName));
    catch (WDAliasResolvingException e)
    You have to place the Jnet test.xml under the mimes folder of your application.
    Place the network element in the view and in the data source specify the context attribute source.xml
    if your xml file complies with the jnet schema your application will render it.
    Pl go through this
    Using the "Network" UI Element

    Hello,
    I created an internal dynamic Table. I want to show this table in an ALV-Table. So I want to bind it to a context node.
    I create the context node attributes by this:
    lr_node_info ?= lo_nd_template_exp->get_node_info( ).
    *Type of table type and context type have to be the same
    LOOP AT lt_plchar INTO ls_plchar.
      clear lv_text.
      lv_text = ls_plchar-plchar.
      TRANSLATE lv_text TO UPPER CASE.
      ls_fieldcatalog-fieldname = lv_text.
      ls_fieldcatalog-inttype  = 'C'.
      ls_fieldcatalog-intlen   = '10'.
      APPEND ls_fieldcatalog TO lt_fieldcatalog.
      ls_attribute-name = lv_text.
      ls_attribute-type_name = 'CHAR10'.
      lr_node_info->add_attribute( EXPORTING attribute_info = ls_attribute ).
    ENDLOOP.
    So I create a fieldcatalog and the attributes at once.
    Then I generate the table with  this:
    CALL METHOD cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
           EXPORTING
             it_fieldcatalog = lt_fieldcatalog
           IMPORTING
             ep_table = <fs_data>
           EXCEPTIONS
             generate_subpool_dir_full = 1
             OTHERS = 2  .
      IF sy-subrc <> 0.
      ENDIF.
    * So  now points to our dynamic internal table.
      ASSIGN <fs_data>->* TO <fs_1>.
    * Next step is to create a work area for our dynamic internal table.
      CREATE DATA new_line LIKE LINE OF <fs_1>.
    * A field-symbol to access that work area
      ASSIGN new_line->*  TO <new_line>.
      Data: copy_table type ref to data.
      field-symbols: <copy_table> type standard table.
      create data copy_table like table of <new_line>.
      assign copy_table->* to <copy_table>.
    ok, nice. when i now bind the table to  <copy_table> to lo_nd_template_exp it all works fine. But i also want to but the data into the table.
    This also works. When I debug, I can see the table filled with the values. But then there's always this error:
    Invalid operand type for the MOVE-CORRESPONDING statement.
    Ok, I have read, that the types may be  not fit. But I don't know why and how i can solve it.
    Do you have any ideas?

    Hi,
    I've the same problem: I must create all attribute of my node at run-time and then create alv.
    I use the method:
    DATA lo_cmp_usage TYPE REF TO if_wd_component_usage.
    DATA lo_interfacecontroller TYPE REF TO iwci_salv_wd_table .
      lo_cmp_usage =   wd_this->wd_cpuse_alv( ).
      IF lo_cmp_usage->has_active_component( ) IS INITIAL.
        lo_cmp_usage->create_component( ).
      ENDIF.
    Pass context node to ALV
      lo_interfacecontroller =   wd_this->wd_cpifc_alv( ).
      lo_interfacecontroller->set_data( node_lenght ).  " node_lenght is my dynamic node
    But I receive this message error:
    Invalid operand type for the MOVE-CORRESPONDING statement.

    What can I do??? My node doesn't static attribute....
    Thank,
    Federica.
