Low disc space

Dear All,
We work on ECC6 and our database is SQL 2005.
Now my concern is that my user/SAP drive has very low free space.
Can anyone suggest which files can I delete to increase the disc space.
Also what will happen if the disc space is gets full.
Helpful suggestions will surely be rewarded with points.

Ashutosh

Dear Santosh,
I had already copied the files EPS/In to a different location and deleted  its contents.Ya folder EPS/In is still there but through that I got around 100-150 KB of free space.
Now can I do the same for sapname folder(free space 150 KB)and log folders that will give me around 1.3 GB of free space.
Please suggest  can I do it similiarly for any other files.
Please suggest..
NOTE: EPS/IN files are created when we apply support packages(.PAT and ATT files),but what type of files \.\sapmnt\SID\DVEBMGSXX\workcontains..Also it will give EPS/IN gives me only 130KB of free space.

Ashutosh

upgraded iphone 4 to iOS7.   Phone is now disabled as it was asking for a code and neither my granddaughter nor I knew what it was (I believe it should have been 1234).   Have tried recovery but it wasn't successful due to low disc space.   Im no techno-gran and am trying to work my way through this slowly.   I don't really understand what will happen if I erase it.   Will I be able to put everything back on?

    Hello Em126
If you go to Settings > General > Usage, it will provide you with a list of what apps are using the most data on your iPhone. Then you will have a sense of where you can remove data if you need to.

  • Low disc space notification on drive "D"

I recently had an issue with my pc which caused me to contact a technician from what I thought was an HP related company to help me fix. It was called Spunknet and they sold me windows 7 with optimization, virus protect and 1 year of help.
I agreed and they set up backing up my data and getting me the win 7. The only thing is I can't seem to get rid of the low disk space notification in drive D. When I check it really is full with only about 412 mb left of 12.7 gb. What I remember is that the technician did something on my drive d which now reads  back up dirve d. I though it used to say Factory drive d. Now, I am told by another technician that to solve this problem I need to buy another external hard drive. I never had a full drive d before last when when they converted me to win 7. Does anyone have any idea as to what happened? I am at a loss and already spent $147 last week for the upgrade and supposed 1 year help...
    Thanks,
    Yski

You probably only have one hard drive in your system and HP partitioned it so you can have access to utilities for checking your hard drive and memory and even do a factory fresh reinstall.  What the company (Spunknet) did was use one of HP's partitions (a very small one at that) as a backup drive. The HP partition was never meant to be used as a back area.  It does not have extra space to be saving your personal data.  The end result is that your backups will not run because there is not enough space on that small partition that should not have been used for backup.  They probably have noticed their error and are recommending the correct solution of getting a real backup device that the system can back up to (an external hard drive with enough room to accept the data). You do not have to back up your data but a backup is desirable to protect your important data from a hard drive failure.

    Hi @cosmogirl813 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion Notebook and Error: Low Disk Space. Here is a document on help with the error.
Do not store your files on the Recovery drive. The only files on the Recovery drive should be related to a system recovery.
    Hope this helps.

  • I keep getting a (false) notification from HP Support Assistant: low disk space on C drive?

Hi, this morning upon starting up my computer the magnifying glass was hovering over the HP Support Assistant icon and usually that means it is checking for updates etc... but I noticed it turned into a yellow exclamation mark so I clicked on it and opened up HP Support Assistant. The exclamation mark was now in the "updates and tune-ups" and said there were "recommended messages available." Upon clicking this the exclamation is now on the HP messages tab and upon clicking that I am taken to a notification that says: "Low Disk Space on Primary Drive C:" So I click on it to find out more information and it says that I am running out of free disk space on my C drive and that I need to perform a disk cleanup etc...
I went to My Computer to see just how in jeopardy I was in of running out of space on my C drive. To my amazement it stated that I still had 1.27 TB of 1.35 TB available and have only used 6% of my space...
I tried emptying my recycle bin, clearing my cache, doing an actual disk cleanup, and restarting to no avail, the magnifying glass comes back after restart and the notification returns telling me that I am low on disk space in the C drive...
I have come to the conclusion that this must be a false notification but I have no idea how to get rid of it...it isn't a huge issue as it doesn't impair my usage on the computer, however, it is kind of annoying to keep seeing this notification...
Is there any way to get rid of this notification?

  • Error backing up a catalog: "low on disc space"

I have problem backing up my catalog in Photoshop Elements 11. I have a new computer and want to move my Potoshop catalog to this one. But when trying to back up on the existing PC, it first says «Please wait while Elements Organizer prepares for backup...». Then after a while I get the following error message: «Your system is low on disc space, and Elements Organizer cannot perform this operation. Try removing some files to free up disk space.»
In trying to back up to a directory on a USB-drive with 847 GB free space. Photoshop says that it will back up «Size: 143 041,10 MB» so there should be plenty of free space. I have no problem copying files to this drive so it is accessible.
Photoshop is installed on the C-drive (18,4 GB free), while my picture files are stored either on C:, on E: (46,6 GB free) or on I: (1,76 GB free).
Any suggestion for how to solve this?

    Hi
I'm getting this same issue/  Also Elements 11.  Backup was fine a month ago.  Just wondering if you found a way to solve this.
I can do an incremental backup just fine but I want to do a full backup, Trying to get this to work to migrate to new laptop in a week or two's time.
I've tried all tips ago, incl re-indexing (which has helped organizer performance significantly)
My Catalog size to be backed up is 418GB  (some of my catalog is on C: drive, but most of my videos in the catalog are stored  on H: drive)
I have 865GB free on H: dirve, my target disk
    I have 93GB of 451GB free on C: drive

  • Dangerously low on disc space?

I've been importing DV footage into iMovie, and several times when I stop importing, I've gotten a warning message: "You are running dangerously low on disc space" and it says I should delete some files, or I might not be able to save my movie.
I don't understand it, because I have 56 GB of space available on my hard drive (it even says that in the bottom of the iMovie window). What's up with that?
I've ignored the warning and saved my projects just fine, but it keeps coming up. There was a time that I had my hard drive almost filled up, but I deleted a bunch of movie files to free up 60 GB.

    Hi Iroth:
It's just me, but I always share all of my finished movies back to the DV tape that I originally imported them from. That way I have the original raw video plus the finished one on tape. Then I start a new tape the next time I make a movie.
    Lots of tapes-priceless memories.
Maybe you should consider sending your iMovies back to tape, once you are done, and that way you will open up the extra space because you can delete the older ones.

  • Blue sceen appeared after low disk space warning

Hi Everyone, just seen a message stating a low disk space on my Mac pro bought last November and tried plugging in an external hard drive to remove some pictures to free up some space but it seems that the computer did not have enough space left to start up and run the hard drive. I then tried to restart and ended up with a blue screen and have no knowledge now how to fix this problem. I phoned support but they say I have no technical support left but do have warranty and I would need to either try with the community here or take the unit to an apple store for an appointment. The store is an 1 and 1/2 from me and I really want o see if there is another fix that could allow me to start again then remove some files and then add external drive to remove more. I was blown away at the low amount of storage.....looked for the icloud option last night to upload there as i was told about this by a UK client of mine and now see it is not up and running. Any advice or help by the communtiy would be greatly appreciated as this is my business and travelling laptop. Cheers, Dean <")))><

    Hi Dean,
You may be able to access it via FireWire Target Disk Mode: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
If so, move and delete enough so you have at least 15% free space on the MBP's HD. After that, run Repair Disk:
First check the S.M.A.R.T. status on your HD: Boot from install disc (insert disc > restart > immediately hold down the c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”) > at first screen select the language and click Continue > click on theUtilities Menu in the menu bar > select Disk Utility > select your HD in the panel on the left side (the name of the HD’s manufacturer and the model number, usually the top item in the list) > look at the bottom of the main window next to S.M.A.R.T. status and see if it says “Verified” (good) or something more ominous like “Failing.”
If S.M.A.R.T. status is "Verified," run Repair Disk > click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility (such as DriveGenius, TechToolPro, DiskWarrior) or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quit the installer, and restart. Once booted normally, go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions.

  • Could Very Low Disk Space Cause problems?

Hi, my 600 GB Hard Drive only had around 5 GB of space left . I purchased a new 1 TB Hard Drive in order to delete media so that I could gain the space back. I've since gained back 200 GB of Space but Could very low disk space cause issues? What kind of issues could occur? Thanks

There are any number of reasons for occasional beachballs to appear. They will appear when some programs are involved in heavy disk I/O which tends to be processor dependent and causes the program to suspend all other activity until the disk activity has completed. This is more often the case when writing to the disk. Beachballs may also appear if the OS has to use disk I/O and is slowed down by an over-filled and/or fragmented hard drive. The fuller a drive gets the greater the likelihood that fragmentation will become a more noticeable problem. Beachballs can appear if you are low on physical memory so applications must resort to disk-based virtual memory which is considerably slower and tends to cause the computer to become slow or unresponsive for a period of time. It can also cause disk-thrashing. Beachballs can occur if the disk has become corrupted causing applications to have difficulty reading from or writing to the disk.
It is possible to repair a drive's directory, and it's even possible to identify corrupted files, but it's not possible to repair corrupted files nor repair a corrupted drive. If a drive develops corrupted files either the files will need to be replaced or deleted. If a drive develops soft sector errors these can be repaired by erasing the drive (reformatting.) If a drive develops hard sector errors these may or may not be repairable, but if they are repairable it requires zeroing the data during a disk formatting operation. If the disk directory becomes corrupted that can be repaired using Disk Utility or one of the various third-party utilities such as Disk Warrior. Disk Utility can repair many but not all directory corruption problems. What DU cannot fix Disk Warrior usually can.
    You can start repairing a drive as follows;
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
This applies to your startup volume. No need to repair permissions on any but a startup volume.

  • Powershell script to get the low disk space on the servers...

    Hi,
We have many SQL & Sharepoint servers running on windows server. I need some Powershell script to get the low disk space on those servers and it should send an mail alert saying "Disc d:\ have less than threshold 15% free space".
    Awaiting for response.
    Thanks

you should be able to use this powershell script which you can run as a scheduled task.
just change the details at the start of the script to point the script to the right location to create log files. you will need to have a plain text file containing a list of server names or ip addresses that you want to check drive space on.
    # Change the following variables based on your environment
#specify the path to the file you want to generate containing drive space information
    $html_file_dir = "\\server\share\DriveSpace"

  • Suggestions for clearing up disc space?

I'm runnning low on disc space on my MacBook Pro and it's starting to run pretty slow. Aside from the obvious deleting files, what can I do to get my MacBook running like new again?

John Hammer makes an excellent point. You can get rid of unneeded applications, for example, but the size of applications is relatively small compared to media files.
I save my "excess" files on two Seagate portable drives. One 500GB drive is about $50, on a good price. They can last a long time.

  • Insufficient Disc Space for Burning

My setup: Premiere Elements 12 running on an Apple iMac running OSx Yosemite. Samsung external blu-ray writer.
I have a recording of a play from my local amateur dramatic society. I have successfully burnt to a DVD-RW complete with menus and photograph gallery. When I insert a DVD-R it tells me there is insufficient disc space. The project is 4.38 Gb and Disc Utility tells me that the DVD has 4.7 Gb free. My hard disc has 826.96 Gb free. I have successfully written to other discs from this spindle in the past. I've tried two discs with the same result.
I tried burning to a folder then burning a disc using Toast, but the disc auto-played instead of displaying the menu (despite auto-play being unticked).
    Advice would be welcome.

Thanks for the reply and additional information.
Please consider disc capacity, file size, and bitrate....
If your Premiere Elements burn dialog Quality area was showing 4.38 GB with "Fit Content to Available Space" enabled, what was it showing for Bitrate.
Unless the program had to lower the bitrate to 1.69 Mbps or where it could not lower the bitrate any further to make the fit, you should have been able to get a burn to disc in Premiere Elements. The quality would have been worse case at the extremely lowered bitrate, but a burn to nonetheless.
If you want to pursue this, we could compare the Space Required and Bitrate with and without "Fit Content to Available Space" to get at
what triggered the Insufficient Disc Space message. We could also look at the Scratch Disk "Disc Encoding" to find to where it is
directed and how much free space is at that location.
If you have the time and want to follow up on this, please let us know.
    Thank you.

  • TMS Low Disk Space Warning Threshold

Does anyone know what the threshold is for TMS to warn about Low Disk Space?  I can't find it in the documentation.
Mine is giving me this warning now, and I'm wondering how much space I have to give it before it will be happy, likely by increasing the virtual disk size, so it would be nice to know my target, since that sort of thing requires some paperwork and I'd rather not have to do it twice.
    Thanks.

Depending on the deployment size, it's recommended for the hard drive to be around 60-80GB per the TMS Install Guide.  You could move your SQL database off the server, if it's hosted on the same server as TMS, as well as deleting old server logs.  Here are some suggestions on how you can free up some disc space on the TMS server.

  • Low drive space

This morning (08/10), when I turned my computer on, the HP Support Assistant gave me an alert, saying I had a message.
When I opened the assistant, and looked at the message, it said I had low drive space on C. See 1st atch.
Not sure what that means.  When I look at C properties, it shows 1.1TB available of 1.8.
It then tells me to do a disc cleanup.
Any ideas why I'm getting this message?

    Khone001,
    Old message??
Does seem odd at the surface of it.
You might try taking a look at what you have installed on the system and see if there is something lurking in the corners.
I downloaded and installed the following free version of this program on my Windows 8.1 notebook:
    Folder Size
It is a fast little program; you can start (scan) from any level so you can bypass areas that you know are clear of files / folders that you do not need / wish to check.
