Lower Margins

Using Windows 7 for my operating system, and Adobe Reader X (10.1.2) the item I'm trying to print appears correctly, but it doesn't print the bottom line, is there a way to adjust the lower margin?

Not with Adobe Reader.
Best to do — reconfigure the authoring file and output a new PDF.

  • Wiring issue causing my low margin?

    Hey guys, thanks for reading.
My DSL lately has been EXTREMELY frustrating. For years it was rock solid. Last couple of months, I have been connecting with a downstream margin of 6 and upload of 9!
I'm no stranger to how all this stuff works. There's no problem at all on the inside wiring. At the NID, I am getting the same transceiver stats.
However, I noticed something strange outside of my apartment complex. There are five apartments here, each with their own NID, wired from this old pedastal looking thing (it has AT&T on it, that's old). Taking a look inside, the wires inside are a complete and utter mess. They are coated with black disgusting crud, the bare copper looks pretty oxydized. Need to know if this could be a problem from one of the pros. I attached an image for your viewing pleasure!

Oxidized copper, especially with that kind of demarc outdoors can cause noise issues. I'd get a tech out to see what they can do to clean the copper up a bit. The mess is fine as long as the contacts for it are in good shape and the techs who work on it are able to work with it without breaking another's service.
That wiring without a doubt looks a bit old though. Definitely dating back to the Bell system back when there was basically AT&T as your telephone company in most of the US. The color coding scheme is a bit different today for newer copper runs in addition to each run being twisted cable for as long as possible. Age of course, won't bother service too much unless the line is in rough shape or in major need of repair. I've seen plenty of old lines push DSL out farther and stronger than newer, less thick runs when they are maintained, repaired, and kept as they should.

Printing a web page has always been difficult, and not just in LabVIEW.  I'm no expert, but I think you have to actually reformat (or create a new page) for printing.  That's why most web sites have a "Print" button.

  • Layout margin "Before" and "After settings

I'm working on a document where I sometimes need to alter the preset upper and lower margins of a given page. I can use the "Before" layout margin setting to move the text box tops downward but trying to move the bottoms of the boxes upward using the "After" setting seems to do nothing. Isn't that what that setting is for?
    G5 1.8 Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   MacBook

The Before and After paragraph settings are for adjusting the spaces between paragraphs. Put you curser in a paragraph and adjust the Before setting and the space between that paragraph and the preceeding one increases or decreases. Adjust the After setting and the space between that paragraph and the next one changes accordingly.
If you want to adjust the margins of the page, as well as the header and footer, use the Document Inspector.
If your're using text boxes, just move the box as needed. To move the entire box it should be set for Fixed on Page.

  • Low SNR & Disconnects

I am experiencing low snr and the fastest sync speed I've ever had. Not a cause for complaint you would think however I am getting frequent disconnects.
I really don't understand it I'm on a long line and have had issues previously but usually after frequent disconnects noise margin goes up and speed goes down, however I seem to be reconnecting at the same low margin and higher speeds.
    Look forward to any comments.

    Hi Westfield-Chris,
Thanks for posting and welcome back!
Sorry for the problems you're having with your broadband connection.  I understand your speed is good at the moment but it's a little too good and causing the broadband connection to drop out.
It's dropping due to the low noise margin and I'll be happy to help sort this out.  Click on my username and under the "about me" section of my profile you'll see the link to get in touch with us.

  • Windows Cannot Access Specific Device, Path or File While Using Adobe Reader XI, Version 11.0.06

    Hello,
Recently, I have been experiencing a minor problem with the Adobe Reader XI Program loaded on my computer.  When clicking the data fields on PDF versions of various forms to enter numerical or text information, a dialogue box with a small white X in a red circle on the left side of the title bar pops open and is titled:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\TabTip.exe
There is another white X in a red circle symbol displayed in the message field of the dialogue box along with the following message:
Windows cannot access the specific device, path, or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
There is also an “OK” Button displayed on the right side of the lower margin of the dialogue box.
Although the dialogue box is repeatedly displayed whenever I click on a data field, the program still allows me to enter and save the numerical and text information that is entered in each data field.
My computer is a Hewlett-Packard Envy 23-d034 TouchSmart All-In-One Desktop Personal Computer with a Windows 8.1 Operating System that has all applicable Important and Recommended Windows Updates installed.  The Adobe Reader XI Program is the latest version, Version 11.0.06, and I have confirmed that there are no updates for the program at this time.
Could you suggest any recommended actions to correct this problem with the Adobe Reader XI Program?

unfortunately no. i have a problem in my computer that doesn't let me do that.
this is  th entire message though and it appears on the background of the program trying to load. all you can see is the frame of Rreader, and immediatly after that it shuts down

  • Slow DSL and inconsistent connections

Hi, I've got what appears (from what I've read in these forums) to be a common situation: have had Verizon DSL for years, no problems. Suddenly, within the past two months, my speed has dropped (I am paying for 1.5-3 mbps) and the internet connection drops sometimes for no reason. This became a big problem at the end of May when my final papers for grad school were due via email, and is still a problem now when I'm trying to work on my thesis with a number of online sources. Any help you can give would be appreciated.
I have an Actiontec GT704WG running on a "simulated dry loop" as it has been doing for at least two years, and have made several service calls to Verizon regarding this issue. The first call, I was told to replace the phone line between the router and the phone jack. I did so, and speeds improved for about a day. On subsequent calls, I have just been told to turn the router on and off. I do, and it works for a little while, but I don't feel like I should have to be doing this multiple times a day. Here's what Verizon's speed test just told me:

Please help, this is driving me nuts and I am tempted to look elsewhere for a more reliable internet provider. Thanks!

Despite missing some upstream from the length of your line (causing lower margins), your line seems to be fairing pretty well. Only a few uncorrectable errors with whatever else was occurring from perhaps noise, being corrected through Interleaving. The drops may be from the low margin on the upstream and downstream. If you happen to have access to a NID, see if you can connect your DSL modem to it and obtain the new statistics it shows. This will let us rule out at least your home's wiring as being the cause of the disconnects.
As for the speed issues, due to the lack of errors on the line, it looks like you might be suffering from issues related to the Junipers. Once we get some results from a NID test if it is possible, I'll send you some information on how to contact someone who can get you off of the Juniper, if possible, and onto a Redback router.

  • "Link to One of  My Pages" not working properly in iWeb '08

This week I encountered a new problem doing something I've done successfully many times in the past.
    *_Here is the basic info:_*
I created a site that had a main page and then four subsequent pages (5 in total). I created a text box (seen bellow) that listed each page.
I then used the "Link to One of My Pages" option to link each word to the corresponding page.
I then cut and past the text box on each page so that the links would be present on each page.
Then in iWeb I checked all the links on each page to make certain they navigated properly to the correct page. Everything checked out fine all the links worked properly.
Next I saved and exported to a folder to check the site before going live.
    *_Now here's my problem_*
I launched safari and opened the site locally — I then discovered that only the first 2 of 5 links worked — the remaining three did not register as links.
I launched FireFox same problem. went back to safari emptied the cache, did not help.
Finally, I went back to iWeb and repeated the process several times. I've rechecked, and recreated the links and exported to a folded multiple times with no change — still only the first 2 of 5 links work.
Has anyone encountered the same problem? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or remedies
    Thanks you

Well I discovered the the solution to my own post above — For those keeping a score card I'll just chalk this one up to operator error and not to iWeb troubles.
The basic problem was that only two of five hyperlinks in a text box worked when my site was published.(please refer to my original post above for more details)
    *_here is the fix:_*
I was working with the layout view hidden.
When i turned "show layout" on, I discovered that the lower margin and footer were bisecting the text box containing the hyperlinks. (seen bellow) As a result, while visable when published, the top two links worked fine and the bottom three links didn't.
When I adjusted the lower margin and footer to fit the text box and published the site everything worked properly.
So I guess the lesson learned is to check the layout — Even though I had content that was outside of the page parameters it was still visible on the published site just not functional.
I share this in the hope that my time and effort spent figuring this out might help someone else avoid the same frustration.

  • Slow throughput on 7.1 Mb/s line

I ran some speed tests today to check my 7.1 Mb/s line as I do occasionally and I found out that even though I was syncing with the CO at 7661 my download speed tests are only coming back in the 1.1 to 2.0 range. Some were actually well below 1.0 today. Previously I was routinely getting speed tests in the 6.5 to 6.6 range on this line, which has been provisioned at this speed for 3 and a half years. My current transceiver stats are as follows:
    Transceiver Statistics
    Transceiver Revision: 7.2.3.0
    Vendor ID Code: 4
    Line Mode: ADSL2+ Mode
    Data Path: Interleaved
Transceiver Information Downstream Path Upstream Path
    DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 7661 863
    Margin (dB) 6.0 14.0
    Line Attenuation (dB) 45.0 25.0
    Transmit Power (dBm) 19.4 12.1
I know that my downstream margin is low at 6.0 but this is a VERY STABLE line that will go weeks without losing sync even with that low margin. The ADSL2+ is really giving me some help at my attenuation.
So far today for troubleshooting I tried replacing my 7-year-old Westell 327W B90 modem with a brand-new Westell 327W D90 modem that I had stored away in a box. There was no difference in the speed tests when I used either modem. They were both running the 4.04.03 firmware which is the latest for the Westell 327W modems.
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my NIC card as I'm connected via ethernet cable to my modem. That made no difference in my speed tests either.
I did run a Network Diagnostic Tool at M-Lab with the following results:
    Upload speed
    0.73 Mb/s
    Download speed
    1.1 Mb/s
Network latency: 5.8e+2 msec round trip time
    Jitter: 8.1e+2 msec
Your system: Windows XP version 5.1
    Java version: 1.7.0_04 (x86)
TCP receive window: 255552 current, 255552 maximum
    9.62464E-4 packets lost during test
Round trip time: 70 msec (minimum), 875 msec (maximum), 580.12 msec (average)
    Jitter: 805 msec
0 seconds spend waiting following a timeout
    TCP time-out counter: 935
    130 selective acknowledgement packets received
No duplex mismatch condition was detected.
The test did not detect a cable fault.
Network congestion may be limiting the connection.
No network address translation appliance was detected.
0.9756% of the time was not spent in a receiver limited or sender limited state.
0.0% of the time the connection is limited by the client machine's receive buffer.
    Optimal receive buffer: 261685248 bytes
    0 duplicate ACKs set
So it looks like I have a network congestion issue going on. I'm wondering if it has to do with the router that I'm on or if my local CO (Fall River, MA) is having a more widespread problem. I'm thinking of keeping an eye on it for the next few days and see if it gets back to normal on its own. I'm very hesitant to contact Verizon as the last time I did a few years ago they cut my speed down to 5 from 7.1 and took away my ADSL2+. I had to talk to executive customer relations to get them back and it was not an easy task!
Does anyone have any suggestions or opinions about my situation?

    PROBLEM RESOLVED
I contacted the Verizon Direct Forum at DSL Reports and received a telephone call from someone at the executive customer relations department at Verizon. He was able to have someone from my local Central Office who does network management/DSL provisioning contact me directly by phone. I was changed over to a "less congested" router right while I was on the phone with this person from my local CO. My ADSL2+ and 7.1 speed package were left intact on my line during the change to a new router. All seems to be well as I am now getting actual speed throughput of 6.5 to 6.6 even during peak evening hours!

    Hi
Table Painter is used to design layout of Templates & Tables.

You can say its nothing but graphical format of template.
Template is to display a table whose layout and size (number of lines and columns) is determined before the runtime of the application program. For this reason, a template is also called a static table

  • What is the difference between Constant Window, Variable Window,Main Window

    hello all
what is the difference between 1) Constant Window
                                                2) Variable Window
                                                3) Main Window   in SAP SCRIPT

    Hi,
    Window Types
When defining a form window, you must select a window type for the window.
You can choose between three types:
    Constant Windows (CONST)
    Variable Windows (VAR)
    Main Windows (MAIN)
    Constant Windows (CONST)
Starting with Release 4.0, the system internally processes windows of type CONST similar to windows of type VAR.
Therefore, if you create a new window, always use type VAR.
    Variable Windows (VAR)
The contents of variable windows is processed again for each page, on which the window appears.
    The system outputs only as much text as fits into the window. Text exceeding the window size is truncated;
the system does not trigger a page break. Unlike constant windows, the page windows declared as variable windows may have different sizes on different form pages.
As far as the processing of the window contents is concerned, the system currently treats constant and variable windows alike.
The only difference is that constant windows have the same size throughout the form.
    Main Windows (MAIN)
Each form must have one window of type MAIN. Such a window is called the main window of the form.
For SAPscript forms, the main window has a central meaning:
    It controls the page break.
It contains the text body that may cover several pages.
It allows to fix text elements at the upper and lower margins of the allocated page window (for example, for column headings).
As soon as a window of type MAIN is full, SAPscript automatically triggers a page break and continues to
output the remaining text in the main window of the subsequent page. Page windows of type MAIN have the same width throughout the form.
The SAPscript composer thus avoids reformatting of the text after each page break.
If a page does not have a main window, the system implicitly processes all other windows of the page and continues with the subsequent page.
This page must not call itself as subsequent page (recursive call), since this would produce an endless loop.
In such a case, SAPscript terminates the output after three subsequent pages.
For printing header lines or totals, the different output areas of the main window are of special importance.

  • Mac mini pricey to expand

I'm looking for something cheap to replace a 2006 iMac and avoid being forced to a Windows machine at work.  Doesn't need to scream, and I've got keyboard/mouse/monitors, so the new 2014 entry mini would be good.  But I'd prefer 8GB, and a small amount of SSD (even 128GB would do) would be nice instead of an HDD, and it is the upgrade that I run into Apple's pricing.
It looks like with soldered RAM there's no alternative to the $100 4GB->8GB Apple upgrade; I wouldn't mind the price as much if you didn't have to commit to a memory decision when the unit is bought. And the 256GB SSD option isn't available, so SSD means the $250 Fusion option - that makes a $850 unit, and you might as well spend an extra $50 to get the mid-range 2.6GHz (with Fusion or 256GB SSD) at $900; but you've strayed from cheap!  It would be nice if you could get a base unit with 8GB and just a 128GB SSD (no HDD) for $700-$750.  I'll have to see how horrible/impossible adding 3rd party SSD is.
One of Intel's NUC (little Mini-like computer without RAM or storage) configurations uses almost the same i5 processor as the new entry-level 2014 Mini.  I roughly priced out NUC and additions on Amazon to make something similar to the Mini (NUC=$350 + 500GB HD=$50 + 4GB Memory=$45 + WiFi=$30) and it is $475 without an OS, almost the same as the $500 mini.  Considering the mini adds Thunderbolt, OSX, SDXC and audio-in, the basic Mini seems to be very competitively priced, but Apple gets you on configurations!
Given the base unit, upgrades seem to nominally look like: $50 to bump the HDD from 500GB to 1TB, $100 for every 4GB of memory, $200 for the 128GB SSD (in Fusion), $50 for the i5-4278U in the mid-range Mini.  All of these seem to be 100-150% more than Amazon pricing for rough equivalents, and Apples cost would be better than that, so they really seem set things up with a lower-margin base unit and make the big money off everything else.

I went through the same dilemma -- do yourself a favor and go grab an entry-level 2.5 ghz I-5 2012 Mac Mini while they are still in inventory (plenty of authorized Apple resellers still have them in stock, but good luck finding a mid or upper tier quad core I7 for a decent price!).  On Monday, I got a sick deal on an open-box (still considered "brand new" by Apple for warranty purposes) for $350 at Best Buy (you have to hunt, but it is a worthy prey).  The specs are similar and the 2012 is slightly faster (per geekbench tests), although I don't know if you would notice in real-world testing.
Besides the performance, what really sold me on the 2012 is that I can pop open the bottom (by DESIGN) and install up to 16gb of ram in 2 minutes.  I also like having the firewire 800 port to communicate with my old mac mini (early 2009 C2D--also a great little machine).  The 2012 also has a thunderbolt port should I want an external SSD at some point.  I've read the 2012's are easier to upgrade the internal drive, but I doubt I'll ever do that and may simply use thunderbolt. The 2014 on the other hand is practically impossible to upgrade.
With the (much) discounted entry level 2012 still around, the new entry level model does not justify the price premium for what you get (which some would argue is a SLOWER, non-upgradeable machine).  Good luck!

  • When using Appleworks database for printing labels can I have columns of different widths?

When using Appleworks database for printing labels can I have a column of different width?
Case in point, the supplied avery labels in Appleworks does not have 8195. When I build one using custom design  I need a small column between column 2 and 3 to line up the info in columns 3 and 4. All the labels are 1.3/4 inch wide but I need to insert a column 1/4 wide to match up with the avery page....
    Any ideas???
    Thanks......
    ---warren

Well, the issue is that when you creat a custom width of 1.3/4 from the edge of the first label to the edge of label 2 all is good. The right and left margins were also set correct in AW. The Avery page, for some reason, has a small 1/4 inch column between the columns of label 2 and 3 therefore making the distance between the left edge of the label in column 2 and the right edge of the label in column 3 - a width of 2 inches and not 1.3/4.
I guess Avery wanted the page to look even.
    I did this work around.....
I created a custom lay out of 2 columns (not 4) with the correct width of 1.3/4 from label edge to label edge and the correct left side margin. After printing the first page I just turned the sheet 180 degress and printed the 2nd page to use all the labels on the Avery sheet. Since the upper and lower margin were the same it worked great....
"Great minds think alike"...   thanks for your suggetion

  • Formatting pics to print multiple images on a page

When printing pics from iPhoto with more than 1 image per page, is there a way to alter the margin above and below the images?

In the Contact Sheet layout you can define the left and right margins. By selecting the number of columns you will specify indirectlythe upper and lower margins.

  • HDMI cable and wireless router for bluray

Hi. We just purchased a Samsung Blu-ray player, model BD-C 6500. We want to connect it to our 46" samsung LED TV  and stream movies from Netflix.  I
was wondering which HDMI cable would be best to use to connect it? We also havea Netgear Rangemax router WPN824 v 2. Will it work  or will we need
    to get a different one?

Quote That information is not 100% accurate. Although the "Hz" of the cable may not change, not every HDMI can support 'ethernet' passthrough or 3D capabilities. - - - - - But not every TV supports it either. Even cheap cables like those from Blue Jeans cable can and do support ethernet passthrough. I am not sure that 3D capabilities has anything at all to do with the cable. It certainly does not require greater bandwidth or greater overhead, or it cannot be broadcast on a single channel. Also, cheaper cables will have cheaper materials which means the tips can break more often. - - - -- - - Completely irrelevant. With proper care, cheaper cables will not have a higher incidence of "broken tips". I have never had a broken tip on any of my HDMI cables. Having a gold plated tip does allow for a more secure connection along with better soldering. - - - - - Actually, unless the device they plug into has gold plated connectors, then using a gold plated cable can actually promote corrosion in high humidity areas due to the dielectric effect. I know this...I live in Hawaii. I do not use gold plated cables unless the devices at both ends have gold plated connectors. Again, this is high school level stuff. And thirdly, cheaper cables tend to be "thinner" which typically means less insulation or 'shielding'. This ofcourse is a negative side effect when running cables longer lenghts. Can you cite a specific example of "thinner"? "Less Insulation"? "less shielding"? You do realize that since it is a digital signal, crosstalk is not an issue, so therefore shielding is irrelevant (except to market more expensive cables to those that do not understand the nature of HDMI protocols. You are not to blame...it is the way you are trained to believe, even though for the most part it is all hooey. If you buy something cheap, your going to get what you pay for, end of story. - - - - - - - - True. When I buy less expensive cables, I still get an HDMI cable that delivers the full HDMI signal and HDMI experience at a lower cost, allowing me to use that money to buy movies to watch. When you buy the more expensive cables, you are paying for flashier packaging, advertising, and non-features that seem to make the cable better. Perhaps you can find a knowledgeable cable technician, a broadcast engineer, or an installation specialist who are truly knowledgeable in real world use of HDMI, who are unswayed by the advertising schtick of the "super mega hyper cable" companies who will take some time and sit with you and discuss the nature of digital signals and the HDMI protocol in particular. You might actually learn something that is real and honest. Again, it is not your fault. You are trained to believe that certain cables are "better" so that you can sell cables at higher prices and lower margins. It is just the way it is done in retail. In closing, I offer you a challenge. Connect the best Blu-ray player in the store to the best display you have in the store, but connect it through an HDMI switcher. On one side, put your most expensive super mega hyper cable, and on the other put a $9 cable from the internet or wally world. Have someone secretly switch between the two cables without your knowing which is which. You will be unable to tell a difference with your eyes or your ears. Nuff said.
