LR 5.3 missing camera/lens profiles

Just came back from the camera store after testing out the Nikon Coolpix P7800 and Sony RX100ii.
Imported the RAW files into LR 5.3 to compare the image quality of the cameras.
I noticed that I could not assign camera and lens profiles to the photos. I currently have a Nikon P7100 which does show up in the drop down list and have had no problem doing lens corrections for the older camera.
I thought the P7800 and RX100ii cameras were added in the latest update. Am I missing something?

Using the new ACR 8.4 RC, the Sony RX100M2 seems fully supported, but the Nikon Coolpix P7800 seems barely supported.
These same conditions are present in LR 5.3. The only thing new in ACR 8.4 RC is the indication of a built-in profile being used.

Missing LR camera/lens profiles

I updated to the latest version of Lightroom this afternoon. When I continued with LR, I discovered all my camera/lens profiles were gone. Can anyone tell me what happened and how I can recover or replace then? Thanks!

Thanks. I've been traveling for two weeks and have not had access so I haven't followed up on your questions.
Yes, I updated from LR 5.5 to 5.6 and discovered my profiles were gone after that. I did do some other "clean up" on the computer working with the Apple folks to solve another set of issues. It is possible that this is the source of my problem. Your suggestion is to uninstall and reinstall LR. What precautionary steps do I need to do prior to the uninstall? Any special instructions for the reinstall. I would hate top end up with no LR at all!

Camera & Lens Profiles

Can anyone explain the differences in the Camera Lens Profiles in ACR and the Lens Correction Filter in Photoshop CS6.
Reason I ask is my D800 and Nikon 14-24mm lens is detected and correction applied in ACR, but the same camera and lens combination is not recognized in the Photoshop lens correction filter. The D800 is nowhere to be found. But interestingly the profiles for the D4 are
Many folks have asked in the past when the D800 and Canon 5DM3 would be supported but all the attention has been focussed on ACR, so when will these profiles be available for Photoshop Lens Correction?

There is no question that ACR provides the Camera/Lens Profiles - this thread is why there is a difference between the Lens Correction built into Photoshop CS6. Many camera and Lens combinations supported by ACR do not show up Photoshop's Lens correction - like the D300 is missing, the D800 is missing - but all there in ACR.....
What I was hinting at was why is Photoshop not using the same profiles as ACR? Seems strange and more convoluted support model

If the camera profile or lens profile is in a Lightroom compatible format (i.e. created by the DNG Profile Editor or Lens Profile Creator) then you can load the profile into LR by putting it into the following folder and restarting LR.
Windows Vista or 7—C: \ Users \ [your username] \ AppData \ Roaming \ Adobe \ CameraRaw \ CameraProfiles \
Mac—Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / CameraProfiles /
For the lens profiles, substitute the LensProfiles folder for the CameraProfiles folder.

Missing Canon lens profile into lightroom

It is possible to save a duplicate of the lens profile file, and "kludge" it from Raw to non-Raw using a text editor. This generally works well enough; much better than manual corrections alone - provided that the camera is not also applying lens correction, and so confusing matters.

Missing Camera Calibration Profiles in Lightroom Creative Cloud

I am missing the ADOBE SUPPLIED Nikon D700 and Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera calibration profiles in Lightroom. They were there until I had to reload the apps from CC. I looked in the forums already and haven't found any answer. I have tried to get support from Adobe through Chat and the person there had no clue what I was asking.
I found this answer on a similar question but it does not explain why the Adobe-supplied profiles are missing. To be clear, I am not talking about custom profiles.

There is no uninstaller. Just drag the app to the trash and reinstall it from the CC app. That should fix your issue. If you want to know, on Mac OS X and starting with LR 4, the profiles are installed in the app wrapper inside the Applications folder for some reason so they are hard to find. you control click on the app, select "Show package contents" and navigate to Resources > Camera Profiles

Missing camera calibration profiles (Nikon P7700)

Until recently I've been able to apply a choice of camera calibration profiles (e.g. Camera Landscape, Camera Portrait etc.) in the Develop Module to images taken with my Nikon Coolpix P7700. However, these have now vanished, and I'm only left with the option of Adobe Standard. When I view photos that I previously applied the missing presets to, I see the old preset (e.g. Camera Landscape) briefly in the Camera Calibration Profile setting in the Develop Module, but then it changes to Adobe Standard.
I think what caused this change was an upgrade to OS X 10.5.8. I haven't changed LR recently, and have been using LR 4.4. It's currently using Camera Raw 7.4; I haven't updated Camera Raw separately, although it may have been updated by OS X? I've tried upgrading to LR5.2 to see if this will fix the problem, but it doesn't.
There are no profiles for the P7700 in Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/Camera/ in either ~/Library/ or /Macintosh HD/Library/.
This is very weird and annoying behaviour: LR is changing the camera calibration profiles of all my images, but without warning me!
Does anyone know how I can reinstall these profiles? I've searched extensively for an answer to this, but with no luck.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies: I did mean upgrading the OS to 10.8.5, not 10.5.8! I wasn't sure whether ACR was affected by OS X upgrades. And I am viewing RAW files.
If LR has ACR built in, do you know whether it uses the files at Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/Camera/ or does it get the profiles from elsewhere? Something's changed the profiles LR reads on my computer, but if it's not OS X, and since it wasn't an LR upgrade that triggered the change, then I'm stumped as to what's caused this!
If LR does use profiles at the directory above, then presumably installing new profiles there (in ~/Library/) will override the built-in ACR files?

Possible to extract new camera/lens profiles from 8.4 to use in 8.3 ? OSX 10.6.8

I'm still using OSX 10.6.8/ Snow Leopard for various reasons, also CS6 , and am a bit surprised that ACR 8.4 requires a later OSX version .
I'm fuming, actually, but let's not go there .
Obviously I won't change my OS, just because a rather minor part of the CS6 apps I'm using has been changed without considering OS backwards compatibility, probably by an intern .
But then again I do need the ACR support for recent cameras and lenses, so I'm wondering if there is a way to extract those profiles from the latest ACR 8.4 and manually add them to my earlier ACR 8.3 ?

Each camera model's raw files must be supported individually, even if the sensor is the same because the electronics still might be doing something different to the data after it is read off the sensor or the lens system might be doing something different to the colors and hence the need for individual support, and at least because the camera has a different ID that needs to be recognized.
An Adobe Camera Raw engineer has said that while much of the camera support is in the camera profiles, either Adobe Standard or for some models, Camera Standard, Camera Faithful, etc, there are almost always little tweaks in the conversion that are actually part of the computer programming in the camera raw plug-in, itself, so it is a combination of a particular minimum version of the camera raw plug-in plus the camera profile file(s) that need to recognize and handle things for the camera. The only thing you can copy from 8.3 to 8.4 is the external camera profile file(s) not the internal camera raw plug-in coding.
Obviously you can use the DNG Converter to create DNGs from the native camera raw files that can then be understood by older camera raw plug-ins, since that newer DNG Converter can embed all the extra parameters into the DNG files that the older ACR plug-in needs to do the raw conversion, but this is an extra step in the workflow so maybe you don't want to do it.
It seems like your choices are to upgrade your OS to Mavericks or use the DNG Converter to make DNGs of the Sony a6000 raw files so your current ACR 8.3 plug-in can understand and process these DNGs.

Missing camera calibration profile for supported camera

I am relatively new to Lightroom. I have imported Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 raw (.RW2) files into Lightroom 5.3. When I go into the Develop module under the Camera Calibration the only profile that shows up is Adobe Standard. My camera is supported according to the Adobe web site. What gives?

Bob, like the above post mentioned, I am also fairly new to Lightroom and still learning a lot of how things are suppose to work. I'm sure my problem is similar to the above post but can you please clarify this for me one more time. In my case...
I use a PC running Windows 7.
I'm running Lightroom 4.4.1, Camera Raw 7.4
I import photos from a Pentax K20D camera.
In the "Develop" module under "Camera Calibration" I only see 4 profiles which are "embedded," "ACR 4.4," "Adobe Standard" and "Camera Standard."
Is everything correct? Am I suppose to see a camera profile for my Pentax Camera? If so, how do I properly install a camera profile for my Pentax K20D camera?
I followed the path C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles and I found the "Adobe Standard" folder and in there where tons of camera profiles. I also found the camera folder and it had also different camera model folders in there including my Pentax K20D, however nothing shows up in Lightroom itself under camera calibration.
Can you please clarify how all this works? Thanks!

In CameraRaw (I don't have Lightroom) Camera/Lens profiles are tied to the filetype. So, for example, your image is a JPG, CameraRaw won't show DNG/RAW profiles.
Suggestions: 1) if available, use the RAW file. 2) If it ain't, open the image in an editor that can save the file as a DNG, then do it. The lens profiles will probably be available then.

Directory of Lens profiles in Win 7

In LR4 some lens profiles are not available that are in LR3. It may well have to do with the fact that I "downgraded" some profiles that were only available as RAW versions to non-RAW versions. Unforgivable but I just don't always shoot in RAW. They do show up in LR 3 as I mentioned and I believe that they are stored in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\ but get the idea that LR4 uses some otther directory... Is thatt right?

Sorry, no idea why the change was made....I just know that it was.
In the early days of the LR4beta there were quite a few comments about the respective size (within Program Files) of LR3 and LR4....the latter having a footprint of almost 800mb, LR3 being less than 100mb. To some, this was evidence of sloppy coding and application bloat, but of course they hadn't realised that over 300mb of camera/lens profiles had switched from Program Data (LR3) to Program Files (LR4b). That made the real difference about 400mb, almost all of which is attributable to the 200+mb of Book Templates and the almost 200mb of stuff seemingly video related (in the Support sub-folder).

I'am missing the Lens Profile for the above Lens from Nikon. The Lens is build since January 2013 and I hoped that the new Lightroom 5 includes a Profile für this lens.
Does anybody know when Adobe will update Lightroom with this Profile? Or does anybody has build his own Lens Profile?

Camera Profiles and Lens Profiles are missing in ACR 8.2.

Yesterday I tried to install a new update for CS CC, but it failed. Then I uninstalled the app completely, and installed it again.
When I opened ACR 8.2 I found out that there were no Camera profiles and LensProfiles (as it used to be before). Instead of usual Camera Profile was Matrix. There were no Lens Profiles in Photoshop Lens Corrections either.
The folder C/.../App Data/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfilesDefault was also empty.
I reinstalled the application a couple times with the same result.
How can I fix the problem?

Well, C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Adobe Standard is also completely empty.

Missing camera and lens profiles in CS6 upgrade

I have just upgraded from CS5 to CS6 on OSX 10.7.5 and am running the latest software (ie CS6 13.05 and ACR 8.2.0.94). My old Canon 7D profiles are available in CS6 but I can't see any profiles for the latest cameras like the Canon 6D or Ricoh GR (among several others), which are meant to be supported. Is this a known bug and/or is there some fix?

I had lots of hassle installing CS6 the first time (ie installation error code U44M1P7 - tried lots of workarounds to no avail) so eventually deleted both the old CS5 and CS6 and did a fresh install of CS6. This worked fine and didn't appear to have any problems in then running all the latest software updates. However, the camera and lens profiles I was expecting to see in ACR and PS Lens Correction Filters just aren't there. I'm just using PS CS6.

Removing Photoshop Elements 9 caused missing lens profiles in Lightroom 3.3

After my trial on Photoshop Elements 9 expired I removed it from my Windows Vista system. The next time I started Lightroom 3.3 I tried to apply a Canon lens profile to some new images and the profile was missing, not only was it not on the list, none of the 862 images taken with this lens had the profile applyed to them anymore. I tried to repair the installation and it failed saying I was missing components. I then tried to upgrade to RC 3.4 & it failed with the same message. I finally thought it might have been caused by the removal of Photoshop Elements so I went to the restore point that it did prior to removal. Now I have the lens profile back that was missing the Canon EF28-135mm profile as well as to the other 862 images. My question is should there be anything else I should look for to see if it is missing or damaged? Thanks - Larry

The common part between LR and PSE is the Camera Raw part (ACR). It's settings are contained in 2 different locations:
1) General ACR configuration files:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw
This directory contains lens and camera profiles installed with LR
2) User related configuration files:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw
This directory usually contains:
Downloaded/created lens profiles
ACR defaults (like ACR cache size, any defaults set in LR)
Downloaded/created camera profiles
You might want to check the content of those 2 locations. One other alternative would be to uninstall and re-install LR, which should take care of the factory supplied profiles.
