M505 seems dead! HELP!

I have an old m505 that has worked well for many years with my Mac. Yesterday, I took it out of its metal case and the green light was on. When I tried to turn on the unit – nothing. Thinking the battery might be too low, I plugged it into the Mac with the USB cord. Next day – nothing. While it is plugged in, the green light is off. It seems completely dead. Might I need a new battery? Are they even available?
Post relates to: Palm m505

Have you tried pressing the tiny Reset button on the back of the device?
USB charging ("trickle charging") will not turn on the charge light normally.  Only the charger cradle will turn the light on.
Batteries are available from many places online.  Check directfix.com for one example.

  • Can't Install My Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe seems dead.

I can't Install My Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe file seems dead. The CD looks fine.
I reinstalled a fresh version of Win. XP Pro Sp3 and it wiped out several of my programs so I've been re-installing them. Of course I lost the registry and have to build a new one by reinstalling my programs. But my Photoshop 7 CD seems to have a dead setup.exe file and it will not respond as it used to. I've tried everything including disabling virus program. I don't know what else to do. Maybe I need a new setup.exe file but I have no idea where I could get one.
Yes, I do have a registered product. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks, Judi

Thank you so much for your suggestion R_Kelly.
Yes, I had tried copying the contents of the installation disk to both my external Seagate drive and right onto the C: drive, itself, but with no success.
But I just experienced a miracle and it installed like butter - to my utter amazement.  I will share my experience in case someone comes along with a similar problem and maybe my situation will help them.
When I installed the "rescue disk" to replace my entire OS on my laptop, the techs had given me some choices in options which I really didn't know how to choose from, and I was a professional IT person in the late 90's. That's where I got into trouble. What I wanted to do was just overwrite my Windows XP Pro SP3, like we could do back in the "old days" when computers were open-source and not all proprietary. When I selected to delete the current Windows partition to make room for the new installation, apparently it also deleted the registry and my computer had no knowledge of the programs I had installed and I had to reinstall just about everything.   I thought I was okay with that.
In the process of finally installing the new Windows OS, I was asked to give my computer a "name."  Well, I don't recall that I ever gave it a name before and there was no place for me to go to find out. So, I gave it a name "JudiLenova."  When I couldn't get my programs to run, I thought that maybe I had not only lost my Registry file but maybe whatever ini files I had left didn't recognize that name, so I changed it to "Judi," still not recalling what, if any, name I had given it before.  As I encountered problems with trying to install Photoshop, I looked at my systems directories and saw that there were equal files in two different pathways, one for each name. I wondered if maybe DOS, which can't make decisions, couldn't decide which path was the right one to find files I needed. I sure regretted not using the "repair" option on the rescue disk, but it was too late. I need this computer to operate using all of the tools I have installed on it.
I bought a powerful fixit program recommended by CNET to fix things and it found over 1400 problems, but still nothing fixed this problem.
One thing I had noticed is that sometimes when I would do a restart of the computer, the Windows Installer would suddenly show up to finish the Photoshop install, but then it would stop initializing because of the restart. (So close, and yet so far away!)  I knew the old system was long gone and stupidly I had deleted the full backup I had stored on the Seagate, so I looked at the "restore" option to see what setpoints there were to see if maybe I could roll back to an earlier time. The only restore point I had was for the day I had installed the rescue disk. I said "what the heck" and opted to roll it back. When I made that selection, I got the message that the major change would be that the computer name would be changed from "Judi" to "JudiLenova."  I thought that might solve some of my problem. Amazingly, it appears to have solved the Photoshop problem because I put the disk back into my D: drive and off she went without a hitch!
My hunch is that DOS couldn't find the Install Shield to enable the installation. Whatever the cause of the miracle, I'm grateful that I didn't toss my computer in the lake outside my window... but it sure was tempting.
Thank you again for your attempts to rescue me. I hope this helps the next guy who comes along.  Now I'm going to try to install all the rest of my beloved old Adobe programs and everything else.   Fingers crossed!

  • 5800 touch seems dead

    hello
I am the, until now, content owner of a 5800 xpressmusic phone, however, when i woke up this morning the touchscreen seemed dead, for lack of better term. I could tap it all i wanted it just didnt respond to it. So i decided to try and restart it... only to find out that it still didnt respond... or that i  sometimescould press it once and then it would freeze again. So any suggestions to what i could do? I have tried to remove the memorycard and start it up without it, with the same outcome.

this is typically a problem related with the touch screen HARDWARE, mainly caused because of humidity or free fall of the phone, but a free fall can't affect the touch screen that much as humidity. Don't even bother erasing your files for any of the memories don't even try to uninstall any application or hard reset, believe me at 99% it won't help you out. What you have to do now is to buy a new touch screen or if you still have a guaranty for your phone then go to nokia care.
    Let me know it.

  • My new iPod isn't recognized by iTunes. Instead it's recognized as a camera. I tried everything apple suggested but nothing seems to help. Is there anything ELSE I can do?

I Tried everything you guys suggested but none of it seems to help.

What do you mean by everything?  Have you really tried all the things on this page? http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/itunes/  Note that the iPod should be recognized as a digital camera for the purposes of seeing the pictures taken with the iPod camera and it should be also recognized in iTunes for all other functions.

  • I bought a new iMac today. I'm using migration assistant to move all my software, but the time just keeps getting longer. It says connect an Ethernet cable for faster data transfer. I did, but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

    m1doc,
Are you migrating from a Mac or a MS Window machine? Either way you probably should be in touch with AppleCare, you have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support. They can usually help on issues like this. If you don't know the phone number please use http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 to help find the number in your country.

  • Lightroom 2..2 Crashes (XP): Two things that seemed to help

Like a number of other users, I have experienced a record number of crashes since I upgraded to Lightroom 2.0. 2.2 only made it worse. I have tried most of the steps recommended in the FAQ, without much success. Here are a couple of fixes I have tried that seem to substantially reduce, though not eliminate, crashes for me. YMMV.
    1. I run AVG antivirus software. I disabled the "Resident Shield" option. This is the internal monitoring function that scans files as they are copied, opened and saved. Lightroom generates a huge number of files. Disabling this function seemed to help. I believe several other anti virus software programs like Norton have similar functions that monitor internal processes that can be defeated.(This is a relatively recent "innovation" in virus software.)
    2. When it was really getting buggy, rather than do a complete uninstall/reinstall of Lightroom 2.2, I left the current install on the machine, launched the 2.2 upgrade installer and selected "Repair" rather than "install." That went pretty quick and when I relaunced, performance was substantially better with greatly reduced crashes. I know this may seem ridiculously elementary, but it made a difference.
Having said that, as others have pointed out, using the brush function vigorously still just about guarantees a crash is in my near future, so when I am using the brush, I regularly exit and relaunch the application.
Adobe, why isn't there a "Save" command so I don't have to exit? That would make living with this buggy release a lot easier.
    Hope this helps.
    WW

My thoughts exactly. A good thing about Lightroom is that it does "save" your changes almost immediately, so you don't lose all of them in a crash. That is probably why Adobe does not have a "Save" command.
The problem is that Adobe did not count on an application that can freeze solid like Arctic Tundra every 20-minutes or so. Preemptively exiting and relaunching helps avoid that by (apparently) resetting resources. A "save" command that performs the same function would be faster & easier.

  • JavaHelp seems dead - alternative recommendations

We have been using JavaHelp since way back when Roger created it (all those many years ago). However, it isn't going anywhere it seems. In this world that is cloud oriented anyway, it seems putting help in the users regular browser is better, and class Desktop does that nicely (long time coming).
Now, for those who agree with dumping JavaHelp, what have you opted to go with instead? Plain HTML? Another platform independent browser based Help system (which ones)?
    Thanks....RB

As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • Inspire P580 PSU seems dead

    Hello!
I need some help. I've got an Inspire P580 Speaker set from a friend but it seems that the power supply is dead. I tested the kit with my P380's PSU justo to see if it was in fact from the PSU and the kit worked, but as would be expected, poorly since the difference in power output from the PSUs is there.
So, my question is where do I get a new PSU to the P580 ?
    Thanks!

If it's an external power supply. The answer is YES!
