Mac OS X can't connect to HomeHub, even when HomeH...

Okay, Basically My macbook is the second laptop using our family HomeHub. what happens is that I'm normally using the internet, when the signal suddenly drops, and restarting the HomeHub is the only way I can connect to the network. There are no problems I can see with the Hub, and when I try and connect via selecting the network from the list, the connection 'times out' every time I click 'connect'. If I go through 'network preferences' it tells me there's probably something wrong with the information I have given, when I know it's all correct.
This is driving me up the wall - please can someone help??

Hi Guys,
I actually came across a problem like this last night where the wrong IP address was showing in the hub for the MAC.  Factory reset seemed to sort it out so i'd give that a try, you can find the button on the side of the hub, you'll need a pin or something to get at it.  Hold down for about 10-15 seconds and try again.
If you have Broadband Talk handsets registered you'll have to hook these back up again.
Let me know how you get on.

Ok so I happened to figure it out while on the phone to apple support. Even though the guy was very nice, I think I knew more than him! He was explaining very basic resolution principles I played about. I had the second option in displays resolution. All I did was unplug the HDMI cable, click on 'best for display' then plugged the HDMI in and my resolution on the normal monitor changed to the normal blue, then went black momentarily and then changed to a strange resolution but another window appeared that said SONY BRAVIA HDMI at the top! Hey presto! Don't know why it didn't do it yesterday - I probably left the HDMI cable in or something! Oh well. Problem solved!

  • Can only connect to Linksys E4200 when very close but PCs can connect at 50 feet. What's the solution?

Can only connect to Linksys E4200 when very close but PCs can connect at 50 feet. What's the solution?

If you're technically comfortable in getting to your Linksys settings - try changing the network mode or channel in your router's settings.
I still use my old Linksys router and when it's set to the default channel, which is 7, my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air sometimes have issues - changed the channel to 9 and have had no issues since.
Maybe it might work for you.
In any event - screenshots below are for your E4200 and play with those settings and see if any of the changes you've made improves how your Macbook connects.  Before you change any settings, just remember what the old settings are in case you need to go back to your old settings.
    Good luck.

  • Getting message Can not connect to iTunes Store when updating apps

I'm getting the message can not connect to iTunes Store when trying to update apps. I have tried troubleshooting in every way possible. Help please

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Best Fixes for ‘Cannot Connect to iTunes Store’ Errors

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

Whenever i open itunes on my iphone it shows "Cannot connect to iTunes" even when my internet connection is fine.

    Try restarting the iPhone.
If that doesn't do it, one thing that others have done to fix this is manually set the date and time a few months out  (Settings > General > Date & Time), test it again, and then set it back to the correct time.

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

I can't update my apps even when I do App Store>purchased> select all...... It don't work for me

When you tap on All at the top. That shows all of you purchased apps. You still have to manually go through each letter (on the left side) and look through every page of apps in order to find the apps that need an update. It is a pain and its time consuming, but that's how you have to do it.
Is that what you are doing and it's not working for you?

macbook air runs hot and makes noise like processor running hard when connected to display - even when not actively using air book

You could use the free tool iStat Pro to see what changes when you connect your MBA to the display. Without doing anything the CPU pane should show a high percentage for "Idle". If the idle value is too low, launch the Activity Monitor and sort by CPU usage. There is a pane showing the different temperatures of your computer. Watch them for a few minutes after connecting the display.

  • 552 Error message, mac user and can't connect to computer

    Hi there,
I've been scouring the forum boards here and the internet for a solution to fixing the 552 error message that is on my BB Tour 9630.
What happened was that I downloaded the Kayak application (even though it said I only had 21 MB of memory left, in red) and when I went to run it, right after it was installed, it froze the screen. I did a battery pull and rebooted the phone. When I went to try to run Kayak again, I got a message saying there was an error in opening the app. Because the app was 3.2 MB, I decided to delete the app since it took up a lot of space and it wasn't working. I can't really remember what happened then, but I then got the 552 error on the gray screen.
I have a Mac and all the solutions seem to be for a PC. That on top of the fact that the phone cannot connect to the computer when I have the BB Desktop Manager open, so I can't even reinstall the OS or delete apps from the apps folder.
I went to the Verizon store today and they said I could either get a new Tour (they have to send for one) or give me the new Curve II, which they were telling me was better than the Tour. I took the Curve II but I feel like I've downgraded even though it has Wifi and a better trackpad. I like the Tour better and am going to go back tomorrow and request my new Tour. I will just have to be more selective about the number of apps I have on the phone.
I really would like to just try to fix the one I have.....any suggestions?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Buying Mac MIni (GIFT)   Can i connect it to dual  non-mac displays?

okay, If i buy the lower end mac mini as a christmas gift for my brother, can i connect it to a display not made by apple. If so, What addapters/Programs/Drivers do i need
    2::::
Can I connect it to multiple non-apple displays? If so, Again How??

The mini can connect to most digital (DVI) monitors and to standard VGA monitors (via included adapter). So you should be OK.
The "low-end" Intel Mini is a very nice computer.
For many tasks, such as running legacy PPC Mac programs like MS Office, it will perform much better if you buy it with at least 1024 Meg of RAM memory, rather than the standard 512 Meg RAM.
If your brother won't be running legacy apps like MS Office or Photoshop, then 512 Meg is OK -- though more RAM provides a substantial performance increase.
BTW -- what a nice brother you are!

  • Help! can't connect to homehub!!

we have 3 laptops in my household, one of which belongs to my dad and he doesn't have a problem at all.
my brother and myself can't connect to our home hub at all.
on the wireless settings on our laptops it tells us "connected with limited availability", (either that or not connected), neither of us can access the internet at all when it does this.  i've only been able to connect once since christmas.
my dad assures us he has not changed any thing at all, no settings etc.  he wouldn't put any parental restricitons on either as we are both in our 20's and use the internet regularly for banking, facebook etc. my company now does it's wages and overtime booking online so it's something i need to access!!
we have tried disconnecting & reconnecting our laptops to the homehub, resetting the homehub and still no good.
my dad seems to think that because he can connect there isn't a problem and so won't do anything about it!
    any ideas?
    thanks!

Some  things you can do the settings differ slightly depending on your Operating System.
Make sure your preferred connection is first in the list in your wifi connection manager.
Make sure connect only to preferred device(s) is checked.
Make sure that you check the box for infrastructure mode only, to prevent any adhoc connections.
     I hope that helps.

  • Mac Book pro can't connect to Internet through Apple airport extreme base station

I had problems connecting to the internet in the past with my macbook pro.  One day it suddenly started working again but then I bought a second apple TV I lost connectivity.  I have tried changing the IP address manually and while it shows me connected to the wifi I am still with out internet.  When I hooked up the new Apple TV that I bought it booted my computer from it's ip address.  The apple TV though wouldn't work and now nor would my computer.  I ended up setting the Apple TV's ip address manually and now it works fine. My computer on the other hand does not no matter if I set it manually or not.  Even if I plug in the ethernet cable from the base station it doesn't work.  It show that it has a self assigned IP address.  After I set it manually it shows that I am connected both via wifi and the ethernet cable but I can't connect to the internet.  If I plug the modem directly into the computer bypassing the base station I get internet and it is using the IP address that worked originally.
It has something to do with the connection from the base station to my computer but this is odd considering every other device I have: iPhone 4, apple tv, apple tv, apple mini with retina display all work perfectly via wifi (newest apple tv had to be set manually as I stated above but now works fine).  When I check the ip of the base station itself it seems to be different from the ip of the computer when the computer was connected directly to the router.  I don't understand why my computer now can't connect to the internet via the base station whether it be wifi or by ethernet.  Can you please help me trouble shoot this?
I have an AirPort Extreme base station which allows up to 50 users and a 30 meg connection speed.
    I have a MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2009), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

It has something to do with the connection from the base station to my computer
    I don't think so..
I just posted a reply which totally vanished.. strange strange website now.
Please post some screenshots of your AE setup from the airport utility.. I want to see the summary page, then the network and internet tab.
Please tell us what modem you use.. is it a router??
If you have satellite or 3G wimax etc service they often are limited to 5 IP addresses... the AE takes one and then 4 more devices can join .. no more.
You need to also give us the screenshot of the IP you are getting in a computer that works.
    EDIT
Sorry this is half double post.. the previous page refused to display.. now it has returned..
