Macbook pro now won't recognise airport express

I have been using my macbook pro (10.5.8) and airport express together with no problems for years and suddenly my macbook is not recognising the airport. Luckily I have a macbook air in the house and there is no problems with that so I am able to access the internet and ask this question!
Just before it happened, the battery on my macbook pro had run down as it was left unplugged - could this be why? And does anyone know how to fix it? I have restarted the computer twice but no good.
Since my iphone and macbook air are both running effectively off the airport network, i can assume the problem is with the macbook pro and not the airport, right?

Perhaps, but what I do is to reset the AE and then set it up from the MBP.

If you have separate accounts then you have to be authorized to use the content purchased from another account.

(Macbook Pro - Airtunes - Dlink DIR-655 - Airport Express) doesn't work

To all that might be having this same issue, I have confirmed with Apple that it is a problem (and the case has been escalated). In a nutshell, I am trying to stream music from my Macbook Pro to the network which will then talk to the airport express boxes.
The Macbook Pro has an N-airport extreme card.
The Dlink Router (DIR-655) has the Draft-N 2.0 spec.
The Airport expresses are connected to my network.
I have no problems using my Powerbook G4 with a 802.11g-equipped wireless card in this situation.
My Macbook Pro, iTunes SEES the airport express, but when trying to play a song, the track sits at 0:00 and does not move(play).
My Macbook Pro has no issues connecting to the internet, it just cannot stream music through.
I have confirmed that the Macbook Pro CAN stream music to the airport express when they are on their own network (taking the Dlink router out of the setup).
Why or why did Apple not include gigabit ethernet on their wireless base station!!!!!
If anybody has or knows of a fix, I would be glad to hear it. If anybody has this configuration, but it works with a different wireless router with gigabit ethernet and Draft-N wireless, I would love to hear from you as well!

I have been having problems with my dlink dir 625 n router as well and after months of problems I finally fixed the problem. The funny thing was that everything worked fine with my imac... it was the macbook pro's airport that wasn't seeing the router correctly.
I just enabled wap2 on the router as the security setting and for some reason now everything is running as it should, upload and connectivity are great!

MacBook Pro Doesn't Print thru Airport Express

This is really perplexing. All the computers in my house are printing fine through an Epson Stylus 280 printer networked wirelessly through an Airport Express - except my MacBook Pro.
I installed the new drivers.
I wiped the slate clean of all printers in System Prefs.
I added a new printer - the Epson came up w/ Bonjour automatically as it should.
When I print, everything shows up fine on the MacBook Pro - it goes through the queue, shows printing then completion...but nothing comes out of the printer.
I tried moving the System Configuration folder out of the Library onto the Desktop to let it reconfigure itself - same problem.
It's really weird because the MacBook is telling me everything's fine, but it obviously isn't - and as I said, all my other computers in the house (Mac AND Windows) aren't having any problem whatsoever.

Bumped again. Sorry, folks, but I'm desperate! This used to work and then it just stopped. I removed all printers again, rebooted, added the printer again (which the System Preferences' Print/Fax config). Printing shows as perfectly normal on my Macbook Pro, but nothing comes out of the printer. My wife's MacBook has zero problem printing through the same printer, same for a Dell laptop.
The MacBook Pro is better than this, isn't it? Thanks.

I have just brought a Macbook Pro Retina and i am trying to transport documents from my P.C via a flash drive, but the macbook will not recognise the flash drive? its work in my husbands mac but not this one??? Also outlook will not let me add an account? apple care cant help with that one either????

Did you format the USB flash drive on your Mac in a Windows format that both will read and write? And you say that it works on your husbands Mac? The problem is probably your USB 3.0 port. There have been some issues with the USB 3.0 ports on the 2012 models. Some were solved by the July 18th Software Update, some may be solved with the release of Mountain Lion (10.8) today. In any case, try the drive on the right USB port to see if it will read. Also make sure that you have all Software Updates.
I'm not sure why you're not able to add an account in Outlook. I use Outlook and have had few problems with it. I might suggest that you go under the Help menu in Outlook and Check for Updates. There have been two in the past couple of months. If that doesn't help, try the Outlook for Mac users forum at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoutlook.

Have purchased a Dell Ultrasharp 2312HM
I have connected it to my macbook pro 6.2 2010 (Serial Number (system): W8******AGW) via DVI cable and DVI to mini displayport connector at the mac end)
I have selected DVI input on the monitor but it just says no computer detected and goes into sleep mode
At the mac end of things, the macbooc screen flashes blue momentarily then goes back to normal.
In display preference on the mac, clicking the 'Detect displays' button has no effect whatsoever.
So in summary, the monitor is on and wired up to mac, but mac isnt detecting it
There was an identical issue from someone else back in 2012 and a long thread. I don't believe the person ever got it sorted.
...oh and Dell don't provide any support for this and say it's not compatible, but I can see from numerous threads that others have it working perpectly.
2 things I've thought of...the dell monitor instructions says it comes with a white DVI cable. Mine is black that was in the box.
I purchased a fairly cheap DVI to mini displayport adaptor on Ebay. Could this be duff? (the seller only had positive feedback)
Help before I go mental!

A four year battery could be dead. I'd contact an Apple Service Center.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

MacBook pro still won't back up, not even with a cable.

I backed up my G4 tower wirelessly. I backed up my G4 Powerbook using an ethernet cable to the Timecapsule LAN port. (Of course now that I've upgraded to 10.5.2 neither of their airport cards works anymore. No fix for that so far.)
But the MacBook Pro still won't back up. Not even with a cable. I've tried using the cable to the Timecapsule's LAN port. Nothing. I've tried connecting to the Timecapsule's ethernet port. Nothing.
In fact, when I go into network preferences....ethernet is not even an option for connecting to anything. My choices are: Airport, Bluetooth and Firewire.
Exactly how am I supposed to back up my MacBook Pro? It won't do it wirelessly and I can't do it with an ethernet cable either.

Hmm...let me see if I can help you. In your Network preference pane, click on the '+'. Then select Ethernet from the drop down menu. After you click OK, you should be able to configure the ethernet interface to connect to your TC. After that, you should be able to connect to it with the your ethernet cable.
As far as your not being able to use your MBP's airport, I'm not certain what that particular problem is - I haven't had any problems with my TC and this MBP that I'm using (indeed, my problem is connecting wireless with my PB G4 (with WPA that is, it'll work using WEP)).

I frequently have Girl Scout meetings at a location (friend's place of business) that has wifi. The router is an airport and the provider is Comcast.
It seems that all other devices do not have a problem connecting to this wifi, except for my macbook pro. I have multiple ipads, pc and mac laptops, iphones, all connect.
When I try to connect with my MacBook Pro I get an error telling me that I cannot connect because I'm trying to use an ip address that is already on the system.
After further investigation I discovered that the computer is defaulting to the ip address of the airport.
I tried entering the ip address in manually. To be sure I had an ip address that had worked I used the ip address an ipad was using and shut of the ipad. I could get a connection to the network. The green light and a message telling me I'm connected to the network. But I could not get an internet connection.
This is so frustrating. Why is it so difficult? I have looked all over the place for an explanation. Thinking there is some stupid setting that I'm missing... hope it's a simple fix! I'm worried this could happen at another location when I need it even more!

Thanks BTF. Presumably only my MacBook Pro and the Apple TV are connected to the internet as the Airport Express is only set up to join the existing network with the crappy router as the base station. Neither the ATV or AE have static IPs assigned.
I have since restarted my MacBook Pro and at present have Airplay audio streaming to the AE and video to the ATV simultaneously without any (at the moment) problems.

New Macbook Pro reluctant to connect to Airport Extreme at 5ghz

I brought the latest 17" 2011 Macbook Pro back in April this year, to replace an older 15" MBP. I'm mostly happy with the new machine, but have noticed one frustrating problem.
When waking from sleep, and perhaps even from booting cold, the Macbook Pro always connects to my Airport Extreme at the slower 2.4ghz speed. My old Macbook Pro was always keen to jump onto the same network at 5ghz unless it was too far away to get a good quality signal. I still have the old MBP and it still behaves this way, correctly. The new Macbook Pro is meant to have more ariels in it for wifi (albiet unlikely to be present in my year or two old Airport Extreme) but I would expect it to behave at least as well as its older sibling.
The thing is if I disable Airport and re-enable it will then mostly lock on at 5ghz, its just frustrating having to do so. It's not even helped by locality, I'm currently in the same room 1m away from the Airport Extreme and it still wakes up onto 2.4ghz.
I've yet to upgrade to Lion, so am running on Snow Leopard. I've heard friends have niggling problems with Wifi waking from sleep anyways, so I look forward to seeing how this problem alters when i do upgrade.
Any suggestions, or anyone else experiencing the same behaviour? Thanks

The program haas been running perfectly fine for the last year, but now its bugging out. Can anyone give me any tipe on how to fix this? Thank you.

The problem is one of the following:
Your SMTP server is provided by a carrier which only allows the outgoing mail server to be used when you are connected to their network. Receiving emails will always work, but sending emails will only work when you are connected via their connection;
Your SMTP server is down - contact your email provider
