Macros in Windows/MSDOS

Hi All,
I am doing some work which involves doing some repetitive menu actions. Is there any way of recording a macro which will let me put an icon on the toolbar which will execute these commands? It is something I don't want to assign a keyboard shortcut for as it involves selecting Table/Convert to Table... and then clicking on Convert on the resulting dialog box. I have looked in the help files but they only refer to macros on Unix OS. I am using FM 8.0p277 on Windows.

Stuart,
For Windows, there are a number of macro recording programs that will work with FM for simple keystroke type of macros. I've used MacroMania from NorthStar with FM before. There's also MacroMagic, WinBatch and probably a whole host of others.
For direct manipulation of FM files, your best bet is FrameScript if you're into script programming instead.

How can I write a script or create a macro for gaming.

Now I know this may be a petty and or silly question for most apple users but I am going to throw it out there anyway. I play an online game called Battle Pirates. When you make an attack you have up to 5 ships to control. I am looking for a way to control multiple ships with a "macro" or "script" and using only 1 key. For example: Select ship 2, 3, and 4 while leaving ship 1 and 5 alone. Yea I know it is childish but indulge me. Hahaha.
I know you can write Macros with Windows and you can even use something called "Auto Hotkey". I just wanted to see if anyone knew of a way to do this with what Apple already has in place. What I have commonly found out with Apple products is that since I have come from being a Windows user to Apple, I usually overthink the process. LOL. Mac's are soooooo much easier....if you know where to start.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! By the way, I have read the tutorial on "Script Editor" but I am having trouble understanding it mostly because you kinda would have to have SOME programming knowledge. Obviously I lack in that area. Thanks for bearing with me.

Can you expand on that? How do you use automator in your game? Can you give me a rough idea of how and what you do with it? I have watched a tutorial on Automator and it seems more useful for documents.

SetWindowsHookEx(WH_JOURNALRECORD) is hanging the system on Windows 7 and Windows 8

I'm in the process of porting an old application that uses the Journal Record Hooks to record macros to Windows 7/8. I've done everything that needs to be done to make this works, that is :
set uiAccess=true in the manifest
sign the application with a valid certificate
execute the application from the Program Files folder
After doing all this, the hook install correctly and it works. However, sometimes, for no apparent reason, the system freeze in a weird way : my keyboard and mouse inputs doesn't reach any application and the only thing I can do is ctrl-alt-del or ctrl-esc,
which uninstalls all system wide hooks and thus, unfreeze the system.
I've added some trace logs and I've discovered that when it happens, the SetWindowsHook function returns a valid hook handler, my hook function is called, but only once and then the system freezes. I've actually cleaned up my hook function and the only thing
I'm doing is return 0.
Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

Will your tested machines be fresh which I means there is other application installed except yours? If possible, I suggest you could make a test with conditions above, if the system is still frozen, this should a issue of system about the SetWindowsHook
function. You could post it to:

While if it works with a fresh machine, this issue could be caused by features of installed applications. You could then compare worked and not worked to check the difference.

Error while generating report by fragmenting two cubes.

I have two Essbase cubes 'bas_reg'(current) and 'basreg09'(history) combined them into one in BMM layer by fragmentation based on Quarter of the Year. This two cubes have 3 unconfirmed dimensions . But for this report i am using the all fields from fact or confirmed dimensions. When i tried to create report i am getting following error. OBIEE is 10.1.3.4.1 and Essbase 9.3.1.

As well as setting the macro security to Medium or lower, you need to tick the options 'Trust all installed add-ins and templates' and 'Trust access to Visual Basic Projects'. These options appear at the bottom of the Trusted Publishers tab in the Macro Security window.

Error while generating Report through XL Reporter.

Hello..
I am using microsoft excel 2003.I have installed XL Reporter 2005SP1. While i am trying to generate report throgh excel reporter i get the following error.
Security setting in microsoft excel prohibit XL Reporter from running.
For more information click Help.
I also tried by making security level low in microsoft excel -->Tools > Macros> Security.But still problem there.

As well as setting the macro security to Medium or lower, you need to tick the options 'Trust all installed add-ins and templates' and 'Trust access to Visual Basic Projects'. These options appear at the bottom of the Trusted Publishers tab in the Macro Security window.

How to i export a html db report into .doc or .txt file.

This is the output i got when i clicked on .doc link...
In the output (though each line of data starts on a new line) the data is not separated into columns properly.My report has a description column which spans multiple lines so the columns are all mixed up and confusing to read.
MS word asked me "the file conversion --text encoding --option(windows,msdos,other) --- I chose"windows".
Do i have to change my word options or browser options to something else?

Help with the HOST and START, forms 6i

Hi i like open to image with de Host and Start in Forms 6i.
For example Host('start '||:path||'', NO_SCREEN ); -> is correct if the path is c:\ ... but if the path is more longer with space in white for example C:\Documents and settings ... i put the quotes "C:\Documents and settings ..." but Doesn't open the image, another window (MSDOS) open... :S

Select the drive in Disk Utility, click on the Erase or Partition tab, select the Format type: dropdown menu that will list your format options. For OS X the only option you should use is Mac OS Extended, Journaled. This is the standard format for OS X drives.
Then there are options for Windows - MSDOS (standard FAT format) or ExFAT (an advanced FAT system with most of the characteristics of NTFS.) OS X can read and write with either filesystem. NTFS is only readable, not writeable, by OS X.

Colors changing when preview finishes rendering?

I have been struggling to wrap my head around why Lightroom 1.4 changes the color (mostly vivid red orange -> pale yellowish) once the high resolution preview finishes rendering.
Today I photographed a *very* orange butterfly, and it looks just right in the lores preview, but the second after I select the image, the photo goes from saturated orange to pale yellow/brown... :-(
Once the preview has rendered, it "sticks" and the vivid orange is gone.
My specs:
* RAW photos (Canon .CR2, from a Canon EOS 450D aka Digital Rebel XSi)
* Show with circular *polarizing filter* and Canon macro 100mm
* Windows Vista Home professional
* Lightroom 1.4 (most things left at default)
* No edits or adjustments applied at import or afterwards
The help for "color management" didn't say much, and all this color management stuff is really confusing me!
Any help would be very appreciated.

What you see is the embedded JPEG from the camera, and then LR's rendered version using either its defaults, or whatever you have set for defaults/presets. You can adjust your defaults or apply a preset on import if you like, or you can get LR 2 and the Beta profiles which have much improved color renditions, and can even simulate some of the in-camera profiles.

Hi,
You will need to set your Macro security settings to Medium or Low. Also, if you click on the Trusted Publishers tab in the Macro Security window, tick the 2 options 'Trust all installed add-ins and templates' and 'Trust access to Visual Basic project'.

WSRMacros on Win8 - how to get it to work???

I've very recently (in the last couple of days) discovered the Windows Speech Recognition tool and quickly found the accompanying Macro tool. My husband (running Win 7) successfully installed and can make/run his own macros using this tool. Using
the same steps I am not able to do so on either of my Windows 8 PCs (desktop and laptop). I can start WSRMacros, right click and sucessfully create a macro, however Windows Speech Recognition doesn't seem to understand the new commands. No errors
what so ever. When I say the new command while the explorer window with the macros is open they are selected and the command I spoke is displayed in the speech window so I know that is recognizes the words I say, it simply is not executing the new macro
associated with it. Is there a different step I need to take for Windows 8? Maybe and alternative location aside from the default (C:\Users\name\Documents\Speech Macros\trigger.WSRMac)???

PCI-GPIB under WIN98 DOS

I have installed a PCI-GPIB board in a Dell computer. I can communcite withmy CDS rack from the DOS version of the "Interactive Control", IBIC. In my qb4.5 DOS program, I can find GPIB0 without any errors. However, the data returned in the second parameter for ibfind does not appear to be correct. When I try to clear the RQS, I get a 10 second timeout. It appears that I can not communicate with my devices. NI-488.2 for DOS is enabled. Thanks for any help you can give me.

By saying that you are using the DOS version of "Interactive Control", do you mean that you are working in the DOS operating system? The PCI-GPIB board cannot be used in the DOS operating system. Enabling DOS Support allows you to run DOS programs in the Windows MSDOS prompt. If you need to work in the DOS operating system, you can use the AT-GPIB/TNT board with driver version 2.7.2.

Reading the scan in word

When scanning and saving document to word file, I keep getting a prompt File Conversion - Select the encoding that makes your document readable. The following Text encoding, Windows MSDOS or other encoding need to be checked. I have checked each one and I keep getting garbage. Can somebody help me? Thank you!

Try one of the following two suggestions. First, you can remove DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan from your task and let DAQmx access the built in CJC directly when setting up your DAQmxCreateAIThrmcplChan function. For this, set it up as follows:

The other way is to take what you have but make a minor modification. Give your first virtual channel a name (in the third parameter) and then reference that name, instead of the physical channel, in the last parameter of your thermocouple channel. For example:

Word for Windows with Macros can convert to mac

I have a word document that was created on a PC with Windows. It's a docm. file with macros (drop drown menus, scroll bars, and check boxes). When I open in on my MAC, none of the macros are enabled. They just become text boxes when I click
on them. How can I convert it over so I can use it on my MAC? I'm using Word 2011 Version 14.4.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
