Magic mouse gestures not working

Hi,
the gestures of my magic mouse stop working.
I've tried another mouse on my laptop and it work
I also tried my mouse on another laptop and the same problem happens.
it's behaving like a "normal" mouse.
Is this a hardware problem? if yes, How do I fix it?
Please advise,
CM

Reset the SMC and PRAM, it make take 2-3 attempts to fully clear them. If those do not work restart in Safe Mode to clear some caches.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

My magic mouse does not work the direction of vertical displacement with the update OS X Mountain Lion?

You are correct that you cannot install version 5.x of the AirPort Utility on OS X Mountain Lion. However, once installed it will run just fine. One workaround is to extract the utility directly from the disk image (.dmg) file.
Here are the basic steps to install version 5.6 under Mountain Lion using CharlesSoft's Pacifist:
If you haven't already download the AirPort Utility disk image file directly from Apple Support Download
Place the resultant AirPortUtility56.dmg file onto your Mac's Desktop.
    Run Pacifist.
Click on the Open Package option. Find the disk image file that you just placed on your desktop, and then, click on Open.
The utility is located as follows: Contents of AirPortUtility56.dmg > Contents of AirPortUtility56.pkg > Contents of AirPortUtility56Lion.pkg > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6.app
Drag AirPort Utility 5.6.app to your Mac's /Applications/Utilities folder.
You can now run the AirPort Utility from the Utilities folder.

Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.  Try making the device a favorite .

  • Magic Mouse click not working

I have a magic mouse, with a MBP and 10.6.1 and the wireless mouse update installed.
The mouse more or less works if "Secondary click" is checked. If I uncheck it, clicking does nothing. The mouse moves and scrolling works, but clicking has no effect.
Also with "Secondary click" checked, if any part of my hand is touching the top surface of the mouse, I get a right-click when I click - makes the grip kind of awkward.
    Tried re-installing the software update.
    Any ideas? Thx.

Not sure why it worked this time, but I deleted
    com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist
from the User preference folder again, and now the mouse is behaving as normal. I did not touch the .globalpreferences file.
I did clean all the system/user caches (using Cache Out X), and then deleted this file again, but now the behavior seems correct
    - with Secondary Click deslected, the surface acts as one big single click button
    - with Secondary Click selected, it acts as a two button mouse
    - in Secondary Click mode, resting your second finger on the contexual side surface while clicking on the single click side surface does not interfere with the single click as it had before
    - in Secondary click mode, you need to lift your finger off the single click side when clicking the contextual button side, or it will not register as a contexual click. I presume this is expected behavior, as it is physically a one-button mouse, and Apple opted for a two-finger click to be interpreted as the more common single click request.
    Hope this helps some

  • Magic Mouse Momentum - NOT WORKING!

Started using my brand new Magic Mouse and the momentum feature does not work. It does scroll like any other mouse on the market but no momentum. Also, I the tracking is slow even when set on the max setting. I've seen the posts with slow tracking, but is anyone having an issue with no momentum?

Ok, this is what I did:
Searched for com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist, open it (It should open, by default, in Property List Editor).
Open >Root. It will show a list of properties. BUT the 2 buttons at the top of the window will be greyed out. Just click on the property "UserPreferences" and the buttons at the top will become active.
Click the "Add Sibling". In the new property that appears enter MouseMomentumScroll. Set it to Boolean and set to Yes and restart.
    And it works!
YES, YES, I know I'm saying basically the same thing as DanielZ360, but I think "open the domain overview" might be confusing.

  • Magic Mouse scroll not working.

Has anyone found a solution to the Magic Mouse, not scrolling all of the time after the latest OSX update (10.9).  Tried forgetting the mouse and then reactivating it.  No luck.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot insafe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • HT3904 Magic Mouse: laser not working

Without warning, the laser appears to have stopped working in my Magic Mouse. It connects using Bluetooth, I have full fuctionality with the left and right click features as well as the surface of the mouse, however I am unable to move the cursor on the screen of my MacBook. Could anyone offer a solution, or do I have to buy a replacement? Thank you in anticipation.

    Hello:
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.  If that does not work, take it to an Apple store (if one is close) and have them test it.

  • Back mouse gesture not working after Mavericks upgrade

    Just upgraded to Mavericks.
No matter what website I'm on and no matter how many pages deep I'm in, the "one finger swipe" to go back a page is not working.  It's acting like there are no other pages to go back to.  However, when I click on the back arrow, it goes back like normal.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Anyone else find a fix?

    Found the solution.
Somehow during the upgrade, this gesture gets turned off in System Preferences.  Go there, to Mouse, turn it back on.  Back to normal!

  • Keyboard and Magic Mouse Bluetooth not working

    Hi!
I have an imac 21.5 late 2012, the problem is that every time you turn on the computer, keyboard and mouse do not respond, to make it work I have to turn it off and unplug all cables and let it without energy about 10 seconds, then i turned it on, and works great.
Anyone have any similar problem? The imac has only one month of purchasing it and this is driving me crazy, it´s not suppose to act this way.
I'll be very grateful if someone helps me

  • Apple magic mouse gestures on Lion

    Hi all
I just checked in this forum but didn't found a clear answer so I ask this question
Are the Apple magic mouse gestures working on Mac OS Lion ?
I just bought one 2 days ago and even recognized and in Preference panel all necessary check boxes checked no way to have the gestures working.
    Thanks
    Regards
    BKantique

    Sorted !!!!
I go back to the retailer and change the mouse and then once installed the new mouse doh !! still nothing..
After looking around in several forums about Lion issue suddenly I remember of a software I installed some months ago which is taking in charge USB (USB overdrive) and once inside I discovered that the mouse was attached to it...
Then I uninstall this software and restart my MBP and now my mouse works perfectly well all gestures supported, battery level shows and so on .....
What a waste of time but it's my fault just install this software in order to use a game pad which didn't worked and even with this software still continue to not being recognize by my games.... so loss for me to uninstall it anyway..

  • TS3048 my magic mouse does not want to right click anymore?

My magic mouse does not seem to right click anymore, any suggestions?  For example, I used to right click on my icon of my memory card from the camera that I have inserted into the side of the IMac and I could choose "eject" now it doesn't want to right click and open up those options.  Am I doing something wrong?

    Hey.
This seems to be a common issue.
I've seen mixed posts on the net about the ES8000 working with the Apple Keyboard but from what I've seen the Apple mouse tends to fail the sync constantly.
Sad, I just bought a mouse to improve navigasting on the ES8000 and dissapointed that it doesn't sync. Maybe an issue with drivers on the TV.
Which Dell mouse (model number) works for you?

  • Magic mouse no longer works after Lion upgrade

After upgrading to Lion my magic mouse failed to work. I plugged in an older USB mouse and thankfully it does work. It appears the System Preference for Blue Tooth no longer has my machine name in it, instead it has "Name not available" and the "On" check box will not stay checked when I reopen the preference. The syncing process "Set Up New Device..." doesn't seem to work either, it searches but doesn't find eventually the flashing LED on the mouse goes out.
I've tried to solve this but failed. I believe its something wrong with the installation of Lion on my iMac because I installed Lion on my lap top and the magic mouse WILL sync with it.
What do you suggest I do to remedy this situation?

Solved it myself. Re installed Lion.
    Thanks Radio for your help

  • We just added Maverick to our Mac and now the magic mouse will not scroll with finger tips!!

We just upgraded our system to Maverick. Now our majic mouse does not respond to the finger swipe at all.
Also the volume contro;s stopped working on the wireless keyboard.

    Hi davidgraham193,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Magic Mouse is not scrolling, first go to the Mouse section of System Preferences and try toggling the "Scroll direction: natural" checkbox to see if it has an effect.
    Scroll direction: natural:
Select this option to move the contents of a window the same direction as your fingers.
