Mail Adapter requirement

Hi Experts
The current requirement in my Interface development is to use the MAIL ADAPTER to send mails based on the below requirements
Kindly let me know if it is possible and how to achieve it :
1) The scenarios is File to Proxy and the requirement is to send an email as soon as SAP XI posts the data into SAP ERP's Proxy , that the data has reached ABAP , its only after the receipt of this mail that the , team wil manualy run the control program to carry out the process.
2) If the File is missing in the Soruce folder an email has to be sent to a generic mailbox.
3) Finally, the scenario is that of an outbound proxy where SAP XI reads the data for this outbound interface and creates some 15 files in some destination folder , There is a requirement for an email to be sent toa generic mailbox as soon as the files have been created and dispatched to the destination folder !!
Kindly let me know if :
a) In which of the cases above should the mail be triggered from SAP XI and in which it should be from ABAP
b) which of the following above is possible and how to achieve the same , i am looking mainly at the way the mail adapter should be triggered for each of the above three case ..i hope it can be configured without complex coding ??

Hi,
2) If the File is missing in the Soruce folder an email has to be sent to a generic mailbox.
The interface will not execute if there is no source file.
So u can use OS Command to create a dummy file of size 0 the CC will now run with a file of size 0.
In mapping get the size of file...
If size 0,then send the email the generic mail box u want.
Please note:U should use multi mapping here with the Mail interface will have occurence(0..1).
This Mail interface is created only if the file size is 0.
3) Finally, the scenario is that of an outbound proxy where SAP XI reads the data for this outbound interface and creates some 15 files in some destination folder , There is a requirement for an email to be sent toa generic mailbox as soon as the files have been created and dispatched to the destination folder !!
In mapping u can get to know whether u r creating 15 files are not from 1 client proxy...
Use the multimapping here also.
If the 15 files are created then only the a Mail interface will be created else not.(Occurence 0..1).
In case further clarifiaction please post again with the specific issue.

I have set up a sender mail adapter to fetch the email with attachment from MS exchange mail server. The sender mail adapter can process the attachment well and convert it to XML format. Now I have a new requirement to determine if the email comes from a particular user. I can see the FROM field in the payload "MailMessage" But I don't know how to get the value of this field. Any idea on how to set up the message mapping? Thanks in advance.

Before the sender mail adapter processes the attachment in the email, it need to determine the email is actaully from the business user not someone else on server. Cuz everyone can send email to the email address the mail adapter connects to, that is why this security issue comes from.
Basically when you fetch a email with attachment, in Sxi_monitor, you can see two field in the payload, One is MailMessage and the other is MailAttachment-1. In the MailMessage, you can see all the emial header fields, such as From, To, Subject, Content etc. I need to check if the FROM field is email address we allowed. That is basic requirements. Let me knwo if you want me to explain it further.

Infrastructure required for Mail Adapter

Hi Experts,
I need to work on a Mail Adapter B2C scenario where XI sends emails to the client with XML file as attachements.
Questions:
1. What is the additional hardware infrastructure required to use the Mail adapter apart from the SAP XI server.
2. How can the mails be archived somewhere, in case I do not want to store them in my inbox-->sent items folder.

as for my knowledge is concerned...
there are no more requirements ...
but check the firewall issue.....and know what is the version and service pack u are using...
and check wether u require sender,receiver addresses and subject required in the mail...if go with mail package check box in the mail adapter..
check wether mails are to be sent to two or more receivers...if semicolon( will do to separate them.
and check wether SLD is done proper or not bcoz,even i was right in my scenario and there was an issues in SLD and i traced it after few days...where i delayed my work..
hmm.....if any i will get back to u shobit....

Dynamic Filename in Receiver mail adapter is it possible without module?

Hi,
I need to send the file name in email adapter dynamically.Presently iam getting the filename as untitled.xml in the email .The keep attachments is checked in the mail adapter.
I need to rename the file based on the input field name and timestamp .for example if i get the input field xxxx then the filename should be set as xxxx + timestamp .xml.I tried to use the UDF for dynamic configuration but it didnot help me out.Please help me.

Use below code snippet... It should work. If you want timestamp different change accordingly. Currently I do date followed by time as per my requirement.

Sender Mail Adapter Configuration - Process Multiple Attachments

Dear sirs,
I need to process several attachments at the same mail message as individual payloads.
In default configuration of sender mail adapter only the body of message is used as payload.
So I added PayloadSwapBean Module at Processing Sequence and it processed the attachment I set in Module Configuration. I'm not able to process all attachments available, just one attachment is sent to PI pipeline.
How can I process all attachments of a single mail message?

Sender Mail adapter configuration with attachment

Hi,
I read the below blog regarding the mail adapter

I have the same requirement but the attachment file is not an XML, it is CSV file so in the module tab if I change like below is it enough?
TRANSFORM swap.keyValue attachment; filename=u201DMailAttachment-1.csvu201D (I think MailAttachment-1 is the file name, am I correct?)
If I change like above is it ok? or any other thing is required, Could you please give me the inputs

PayloadSwapBean will ensure that the input to the mapping is from the attachment.....in the blog the attachment is in XML format and hence there was no need for any conversion.....yours is however a CSV file so you need to convert it to XML first and then do the further processing.....you can either use the MessageTransformationBean as shown in this blog:

Or write your own module code for the conversion.

Once your message (attachment) is read by the sender CC, you can perform the basic mapping requirement (if any) to convert the mail message fromat to the file format.....configure a receiver FILE CC and send the message...this should be the design...

In our requirement is mutiple documents send through mail adapter, In custom java module we read the each document details and do it bussiness process. But now i am not able to read the multiple files at a time. we are able to read single file only. So plz give the solution for that.
1) How to send multiple attachments(like word, PDF, JPG etc..) using mail apapter.
2) How to read multiple attachments in custom java module.

Different Attachment extension(.xls,.txt) in sender mail adapter

Hi Experts
Is it possible to use different type of attachment extension (e.g .xls,.txt) in the sender mail adapter?
My requirement is , the attachment in the mail adapter will be used as the main payload.So I am using PayloadSwapBean adapter module.
Currently I am using the following module key for .xls attachment and it is working.Configuration for .xls attachment is as follows
swap.keyName-Content-Disposition
swap.keyname-Content-Description
swap.keyName-Content-Type
swap.keyValue-attachment;filename="MailAttachment-1.xls"
swap.keyValue-MailAttachment-1
swap.keyValue-application/vnd.ms-excel.
Now, the attachment may be .xls or .txt file.
Now If I want to use .txt atachment then do I need to define all these parameter again and in that case what will be my content type for .txt file.

PayloadSwapBean will only convert the attachment as the main payload.
Yeah for reading excel file I have a separate custom adapter module.This is not in the scope of my question..
All I am asking , can .txt as well as .xls attachment be used in the same sender mail adapter.
If that is possible what will be my content-type for .txt or can I remove content-type and use only content-disposition and content-description so that any type of attachment it can recognise.
The momment I am specifying content-type , I am making it particular that only say .xls attachment , it will identify.

I am using sender mail Adapter to read the incoming mails from mail server,I have couple of questions:
1.How we can configure adapter to read the mails from particular user.
2.after reading the mail I am only taking subject line in to the mapping,is there any way we can validate whether the incoming
subject line is in the right define form or not.
3.how we can archive once after reading mail.
4.Is there any performance affect on settling polling interval.

File to RFC, and through RFC response i am trying to trigger the Mail adapt

Hi All,
Right now i am doing File to RFC, its working fine but now the requirement is when xi connect to ftp and picks the file need to send one success mail after the file pickup and data sent to BW system again i need to send one mail and also error alerts to inbox.
Till now i am not using BPM, can we do this without BPM pls let me know
now i am trying to achieve this in File to RFC, and through RFC response i am trying to trigger the Mail adapter.
or else i need use only BPM pls share the steps which i need to be configure.
Am i correct or pls suggest me some idea to achive this and also pls share some smaple ones in BPM .

Mail Adapter: original Attachment filename retrieval in Proxy

Hi,
I have a Sender Mail Adapter, and the receiver is a proxy, where I need to get the attachment and its details.
When I execute
attachment_filename = l_attachment->GET_DOCUMENT_NAME( ).
it simply returns Attachment-1 etc.
How do I get the original attachment filename?
I am on SP16.

The receiver wants to get the xml file as a txt file and the pdf, both sent together by mail.
We are following this thread:
"Sending multiple attachments winthin a single Receiver Mail adapter in required format".
So far we are able to generate the txt file and send it together with the pdf to the recipient.
The txt file gets its name from the payload of the xml file.
Unfortunately the pdf should be renamed to the same name as the txt file.
And here we are stuck.
We generate the filename for the txt file in the mapping to the mail message (as usual ximail30.xsd).
But for the pdf we are only able to set a static name in the channel module page using
Transform.ContentDisposition.
Any ideas how to solve this are really welcome!!!!
(Solutions that do not talk about using a new module to be written are prefered.)
