Mail and adresses lost after moving home.dmg to another mac?

Having to move someone from one mac to another (both G4s running 10.2.8). I thought I'd simply be able to delete the user from the old machine, thus creating a ".dmg" file of that user. I then transferred this to the new mac where I had created a new user account of the same name as on the old mac. Having then logged in as root, I deleted the contents of the newly created user's Home folder and replaced it with the contents of the mounted .dmg file.
Logging back in as the new user, I find that Mail and Address Book have both lost their links to the transferred data files that were associated with the user on the old mac!
How can I re-establish the links with the previous data (if it still exists, which I hope it must do!)?

On my Windows XP operating system, the organizer file is located in my profile's directory:
%USER%\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Organizer90 (I have Acrobat Pro 9.2)
I have shared my organizer file with coworkers, but all my documents are located on a network and we are all mapped to the drives in the same way.
If a file is moved from where the Organizer has it referenced, the file will disappear from the collection. The Organizer90 file can be opened in notepad, but it is not meant to be edited that way. Editing the file will cause Acrobat to delete the altered file and regenerate a new one.

IPhoto albums and folders lost after transfer of library to new Mac

After transferring iPhoto library from old Mac Book Pro (running OS X 10.8.5, iPhoto 08 7.1.5) to new Mac Book Pro (OSX 10.9.1, iPhoto 9.5) all of the albums and folders from the old library have been lost and photos are just listed as events. It would take a long time to rearrange all the photos into the original albums and folders. Apple one -to -one sessions in store x2 unable to solve just said that the old library must be corrupted
I still have the old photo album arranged in albums and folders on the old Mac.
I also have iPhoto buddy installed on old Mac and have tried transferring to new Mac with and without iPhoto installed but either way albums and folders were lost.

Would upgrading old Mac Book Pro to Mavericks and then upgrading iPhoto before transferring the library be a solution?

I tried again with iPhoto updater and this time it worked on 2 of my 3 libraries so the albums and folders were preserved. I also had not realised that iPhoto updater needed to be opened from Utilities folder nad had thought it would work automatically once downloaded (one -to -one in store trainer had not realised this either).
I then remembered that there was one .mov file shot on my " still "digital camera in an iPhoto album. Once I removed this iPhoto updater worked on the 3rd library so old folders and albums preserved.
Even then there was one small folder of images which has not transfered via Target mode. For unknown reasons when I transferred these images from camera to old MCP they were jumbled and not in normal date order. I will try transferring these images to new MBP on a memory stick.

Mail and Adress Book no worky. :(

So I pulled Mail and Adress book out of my sidebar thingy and when I recently went to try and use them again, the application doesn't work. I don't want to restore my harddrive as I have over 50 gigs on this thing and don't want to lose them but I really want to make use of the mail program.
Is there any way to make the application work? I don't even have the little icon, it's just the generic application icon thing. o-o;
I'm also a new macowner so I may not understand everything. x3; Sorry.

In Outlook, look in iCloud folders not Personal folders.

It includes one script to delete duplicate messages. So if we can't find a way to do this right, then I'll just download all the duplicates then delete them. Of course I don't want to actually do that, lets call this the nuclear option.
So can anyone think of a way to make an IMAP account for my gmail without it downloading all the messages again that I have already downloaded?

My URL has been duplicated since moving my site from another Mac

When I originally made my company site it was just a normal www.website.com and thats how it appeared in the address bar. I then moved the site to another Mac (cant quite remember the steps I used) and did some updates to it and republished it and now it appears as www.website.com/WebSite.com/Home.html. Nothing has changed with my hosting company or anything like that. It literally changed just from moving it to anoter computer which is why I suspect that something happened with the folders or something with iWeb. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No ADSL link after moving home

Dear Moderators,
I moved home within E14 area. I had a working internet connection despite issues being posted around Poplar area and the 02075 issue.
After moving house, the same number issued, but I checked the hub and there is no ADSL link at all.
I double checked to make sure nothing else is connected, ensured only the BT home hub was connected, there is neither a blue or yellow light and finally changed filters. I logged inside the BT home hub and the hub says no ADSL connection
I called the help desk who did the line test and I explained what I did and they asked me to change filters again, reboot router, reboot my computer. It was promoted to 2nd line and I was told I would be contacted in 5 hours, I have waited the whole day at home.
Any chance someone could check on the exchange what the issue is and see if there is a ADSL link and whether it is ADSL 2+? If you can provide an email address, I can email you my BT number.

Thanks for your help mods. Very professional help and the personal touch of calling me to keep me updated was very nice.
Lastly, I was told my line supported ADSL2, however when my ADSL came online it only shows 2MB/s (my estimated speed was 7MB/s), can someone please take a look?

7 months and no fix after moving from Virgin

Has anyone come across this before?
In June 2012 I moved house in St Albans and moved providers from Virgin to BT. I took my Virgin number with me.
I can only receive calls if they are made from within the same area code 01727. If anyone phones from a mobile or outside my area, eg 0171, they just get a dead tone.
BT have now sent Openreach to my home 5 times and I have spent money having the house line and equipment independantly tested. It all passes with no errors and the previous occupier had no issues at all.
They have contacted Virgin each and everytime and Virgin claim to have released the number correctly.
I complained to the Ombudsman who decided (God only knows why) that there may still be a fault with my equipment despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. So I have hit a dead-end with the BT / Openreach / Ombudsman triangle known from now on as BOO !
I am still being charged, there appears to be no fix, they will not refund me, release me. My option appears to be to take them to court for non-performance.
Anyone any ideas?

Mail and safari crash after update to 10.4.10

I have recently installed the update to Tiger (OSX 10.4.10) and ever since I have installed the update I have a problem with both Mail and Safari. In Safari the browser just closes (no dialog pops up, it's as if I'd just quit it). This doesn't have a particular point when it closes, it could be after as little as 5 seconds, or as much as an hour or so.
Safari does something similar however it is only when I click "New" or Forward/Reply, to create a new email, it just closes. It recieves and opens emails normally.
I don't know what I can do, so far I've had no luck finding anyone else with this problem. However I need my email for work, so it's getting quite a problem.
As a note using Fire-Fox I don't have any problems with programs closing, it is only these two programs.

Problems arising right after installing a system update are usually the result of the problem already being there, or some filesystem corruption that should have been fixed first, or not having installed the update properly (e.g. applications running while installing it), or having ignored Apple’s “Important: Please read before installing” warnings, etc.
Quit all the applications and verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, if you’ve installed Safari 3 Beta, uninstall that first, then reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with the computer:

After installing the Combo Update, the computer may restart twice and the first restart may take several minutes. This is normal.

Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk and back up before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.
BTW, please update the Operating System field on your My Settings’s profile (and click Save), so that the version of Mac OS X you’re running now automatically appears in all your posts and not just in some of them.

E-Mail and Podcasts deleted after sync

Recently all of my older e-mails and podcasts (unlistened to) were automatically deleted after syncing my iPhone to iTunes. All podcasts were set to keep all episodes, so there should be no reason for this. Anyone have any ideas?

Go to the Messages application. Hit the menu key and select Options. Select General Options. Scroll down to where it says "Keep Messages" and set as desired.

IPhoto faces and places lost after format?

Hi all,
I am about to format my HD to have a clean reinstall of Snow Leopard. Meanwhile I have to say that I have a full backup using TimeMachine. Will the details on my photos (places,faces,rating etc.) be lost after the format?
Also do I need to pay attention to something specific? Does anyone have anything to advice me to avoid or to do,cause it will be the first time I'm doing it.

Mail and Safari Crash after Full Restore with Time Machine

I did a complete restore with time Machine. I opened Mail and it did it's thing importing all the mail and creating it's new index and folders. Now Mail and Safari will not work. They crash every time I open them.
They were working fine, the only reason I did the restore was I inadvertently formated my hard drive while trying to install boot camp.
Anyone have any idea what to do?

I have exactly the same problem as iGin. All other programs appear to be behaving normally, just Apple Mail and Safari crash immediately after starting them up - very annoying!
