Mail Bug force re-indexing

This is so weird..and I cannot even begin to think about how it happens. Sometimes (5% of emails?) when i receive a new email, I go to open it as usual. The sender could be a friend the subject line makes sense like the email is going to be about something i want to read - so i go to read it. When I open the email, the email is completely different.
The window that pops up with the title, sender, subject, date and the whole email content is a completely different email (i.e one from my inbox) which I could have received maybe 6 months ago!
The only way I can get around this is to log into my webmail IMAP mail and read it on there, where it opens the correct email....

Anyway: the answer was from Ernie Stamper as follows:
It would appear likely that this is problem with the Envelope Index. Have you ever taken any action to remove the Envelope Index file (and other files) without first removing the IMAP account folder?
Let's force an overall reindexing via the removal of the Envelope Index. Note the special instructions when forcing the reindexing of IMAP or Exchange accounts in the following:

This will force the reindexing of all the POP mailboxes and all On My Mac mailboxes. With regard to any IMAP accounts if you have any, the practical result of this action of removing the account folder, is that with the IMAP account still set up in the Preferences, Mail will connect to the IMAP server and create a new account folder, and while doing so will index the messages in the mailbox folders of the IMAP accounts on the server.
Keep me posted.

Known Mail Bugs?

1) I have Mail preferences set to retrieve new messages every 5 minutes. But whenever I click on Get Mail, it seems to find several messages not yet retrieved and there is a progress bar showing the number of messages being retrieved. Also, these numbers seem to be daily totals such as "15 of 25", but I can find no explanation of exactly what those numbers mean. My conclusion is that Mail is NOT getting new mail every five minutes, but waiting unitl i click on Get Mail to query my mail servers.
2) Fairly often, when I click on a message header in my message list, all that displays in the message pane is the subject and details of the message but not the contents. I have to quit and restart Mail to get the proper behavior.
Are these known bugs?

Mail bug after updating to OS X 10.9.3

Hi.
I updated to OS X 10.9.3 and all is fine but my i am having a very irritating problem with my mail.
If i search in mail for a name or subject most of the results that shows the name and the subject correct, not all.
But the text in the email it self is just random email and some emails have randomly combined into one, up to 15 emails or more.
Basically it is a mess and in some occasions many email have the wrong date.
This only happens with mails that i received before the update (i performed the update a week ago)
Can someone help me out ?

Yahoo Mail Bug

I recently read the Macworld article on fixing the Yahoo Mail Bug when sending email with Mac Mail. I have a question since I have the exact problem he writes about.
I changed the settings like Yahoo asked me to do.
I double checked them after reading the article. I was able to easily find how to "enable SSL for my POP server and override the default POP port with port 465"
But I am not sure how to:
"Enable SSL for your SMTP server and select to override the default SMTP port with port 465."
Where do I find the SSL for the SMTP? I have already looked into the Mail > Preferences. There I find the POP server settings, but no SMTP. ???
I get my mail from att / yahoo....just can't send via my Mail app.

Test Stand Sequence Example - OverrideSerialNumForParallelModel.Seq Bug with Socket Index Report?

Hello - is there a way to have the testand sequence "OverrideSerialNumForParallelModel.Seq" give the reports correctly with the "Test Socket Index" Correctly at 0,1,2,3 instead of each window haveing 0,0,0,0
I've spent a long time trying to get it to work with my applciation -but can't seem to find the answer.

Hi Brad,
The reason that all of the report view tabs are displaying the same socket ID is that you are currently generating a single report file for all of your test sockets (the default behavior), and this same report file is being displayed for all of the sockets. You will notice that if you scroll down in any of the reports, results for all of the other sockets will be present. If you would prefer to have a separate report file for each test socket, you can enable the New UUT Report File for Each Test Socket report options as shown below.

When a user changed the microphone (using right click -> settings -> microphone, or Security.showSettings(SecurityPanel.MICROPHONE)) AudioPublisher still using mic with 0 index.
I look into code and find:

BUG ? Create index on a partitioned table drops the complete table !

Hi ...
now i had twice the problem when i tried to create a local index (with 2 fields) on a partitioned table .
I set initrans to 1 and maxtrans to 255 (i know - initrans has to be at least 2).
I got an error - and the table (including the data) was gone ... :-((
Has anybody the same behavior and is it a bug ??

Yosemite outgoing mail bugs

I've had a host of brand new outgoing mail bugs again. I've truned off the auto-detect options in mail pref MANY times and somehow they just keep coming back. Yahoo is especially affected. I'm stuck in the hospital trying to get paper-work to lawyers and accountants to try and wrap up affairs and this issues is making it difficult to even know what's going out and when. I paid for the dependability/ reliability of an Apple product, and feel cheated. It shouldn't take decades for Apple to be able to include a reliable mail client in it's OS. Seems like the new crop of outgoing errors started up again around new years and hasn't abated yet. Tried reinstalling the OS from recovery window hoping mail would come along for the ride -- and got a message that the servers weren't available -- to try again later. Well I've tried over the course of several days -- al with the same result. MBP is about to become "spare parts" and I'm looking at a chrome system for my home with a good NAS server for my needs. Brand loyalty can be lost over time.
Me- two MBP - 2011. Shopping now for new dev machine.
Household - one 1Phone 6 for partner, 1 iPhone 3gs for me
Household - 3 2nd gen iPads- wifi only
Household -1 airport extreme
Household - 2 time capsuls - one is new, the other a couple of years old
Household - 1 Apple TV
Household - 3 airport express units to play music around the house
ME - developer with more than 5 apps in App Store.

Easy fix that worked for me instantly: Click Connection Doctor when the dialogue box opens. Double click the text in details. Click Advanced tab. Change username from "johndoe @ gmail.com" to simply "johndoe". And to be extra cautious, re-enter your password.
This can also be achieved by going to Mail-->Settings-->Accounts.
If that doesn't work, perhaps go back to Mountain Lion and wait this issue (and a few others) out for a couple months. Please let me know if this works for you.

Any ideas for Mail must-force-quit bug after 10.5.2 upgrade?

I've tried many different things suggested on this forum (removing bundles; rebuilding mailboxes; moving Mail folder to desktop for rebuild; eliminating To Dos; creating new Address Book DB). But nothing seems to work. I have to force quit Mail every time. Now it sometimes doesn't check Mail manually either.
What exactly changed in the 5.2 update that could cause so many problems? Mail is becoming intolerable. I'm not a huge fan of Office, but in 5+ years, Entourage never gave me such difficulties. Come on, Apple!

OK, I found a solution. If possible, use a webmail account to go in and delete your "To Do" folders, if that is what is hanging your Mail application. I did that with one IMAP account, only to have "To Do" items show up under another IMAP account. That account is on my web host, so I converted the account to POP. After that, Mail started working properly again since it was not trying to sync "To Do" items with various IMAP servers.
This problem started after upgrading to 5.2, though I noticed others experienced it with 5.0 and 5.1.

Serious Apple Mail BUG!

Whenever a computer is not connected to the internet and email has been written in Apple Mail while it's in offline mode and the application closed and then re-opened in "Offline" mode, Mail attempts to send mail sitting in the outbox nevertheless. Resulting in the first message in the Outbox queue for each SMTP used being automatically opened and the following error message.
*not able to send images to thread.
Since I use three different SMTP servers potentially three email windows can open when opening Apple Mail while in "Offline" mode. That means I have to click the "Close Window" button three times every time I open Apple Mail during the time I am not connected to the internet. Not everyone, including me, with a PowerBook, which is meant to be mobile, has internet access at all times.
How could this have possibly been overlooked? This has been a bug in all versions of Apple Mail!! Please FIX IT as it's irritating enough to force one to start sending snail mail or worse use Microsoft Entourage.

Thank you for your suggestions, which is exactly what I was looking for. I have sent a feeback on Mail to Apple as you suggested. I am not sure that will make a difference but there is always hope.
Regarding your suggestion of saving email to the Draft folder… that would be a great solution but opening every email I had written during the week so I could send them off one by one is equally as irritating. I do wish there was a send button in the main window so I could group select email and send them off without having to open each one.

10.4 Reproducible Mail bug

After I imported my mail from 10.3, all my mailboxes were placed inside a folder called "Import". There is a bug that causes all mail messages to be lost in sub-mailboxes if I move any mailbox out of the "Import" mailbox.
Specifically: If I have a mailbox "Phil" inside "Import/People", then move the "People" mailbox to the top level, the content of all mails in the "Phil" mailbox is replaced with:
"The message [...] has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
Further, if I rebuild this mailbox, the mails disappear entirely. However, if I (without rebuilding the mailbox), move the "People" mailbox back to its original location, then all the "Phil" mails re-appear.
I find that it is OK to move any mailbox which doesn't have sub-mailboxes (ie. moving "Phil" to the top level works fine), but the errors occurs reproducibly when I try to move any mailbox that contains other mailboxes.
The work-around (for me) was to create a new mailbox structure then move all bottom-level mailboxes into this structure.
Is this a known bug in Mail Version 2.1 (752/752.2)? I did a quick search on here and didn't find a mention of it. But I'm sure I can't be the only one who has experienced this bug.

Another update:
The missing mail was still indexed by the search engine, although all emails were replaced with the "has not been downloaded" message.
So I went searching in the ~/Library/Mail folder to see where the mail could have gone. It was all still there, but had been moved to a folder called "Local-(null)@(null)". Very odd. I moved all the contained mailboxes back to the "Mailboxes" folder and now I can see them again!
And the search engine can now find the mails too.
Does anyone know why the mailboxes got moved to "Local-(null)@(null)"? I'll let you know if it happens again.

IOS7 Mail bug - saving photos.

So I just updated to stupid iOS7, which so far am unimpressed, mainly because I didn't want iTunes 11 and now am forced to update. However, I am constantly being mailed photos and have never had issues saving multiple photos before. Anyway, went to save multiple images this morning and first off i thought they had changed the way you save (holding down on image and hitting save), because it took multiple seconds for the pop up to come up (first world problems). Anyway, it finally popped up, however went to save multiple images and nothing saved. not a single photo. i restarted my phone thinking perhaps that was the issue. nada. then went and saved a single photo and low and behold it worked. obviously i don't want to have to wait multiple seconds for the pop up to show up, plus having to save 40 photos at that rate is absurd. i doubt anyone can help me out, but wondering if anyone has had the same issue? also, is there a place to report bugs? So frustrating!!!

Just counted took 15 seconds for the pop up to come up.

Sender Mail Adapter - forcing content as an attachement

Hi all,
We are using the Sender Mail Adapter to pull emails from the inboxes of some users of an exchange server. We use the Mail Package option.
We have noticed that the content of the emails are by-default added as attachments when there are no real attachments to the emails. However the content is not added as an attachment when one or more attachments are present in these emails.
Is there a way of forcing the Sender Mail Adapter to always add the content as an attachment and keeping the other attachments as well? and of course maintain the Mail Package message type as the main payload...?

In your opinion is it possible to force the Outlook Exchange server to add the content attachment every time? I mean by doing some configuration on it...?
The reason why we would like to do this is because when - in the content tag of a Mail Package message - we have MIME message parts that are of content-type text/html we are having problems in decoding the html back to a readable format.
To do this we use the apache QuotedPrintableCodec Java class.
This works fine when the content type of the message is just text/plain but we get an exception when we try with text/html.
The exception we get is:
org.apache.commons.codec.DecoderException: Invalid URL encoding: not a valid digit (radix 16): 13
I don't know if this is because of the two character sets we have in the payload (utf-8 and iso-8859-1) or if it is for other reasons...
If you could help me figure out how to forward any HTML email to another system in a readable format it would be great.

BUG: Forced Restart Via Creative Cloud Desktop Application Installer

Hey guys, I was trying to install a few adobe products and have been encountering strange errors.
The following bug has been experienced when trying to install Adobe Application Manager, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Illustrator.
Program will install to about 44% or so and then say "extracting". After extraction, it displays the %installation, increases about 4-10%, then forcefully restarts my computer.
According to my computer, no errors are present (looked in the events log)
Here are the following things I have tried to remedy this issue.
Running windows update for all general updates and going to intel to update graphics driver.
1. a. Removing all Adobe applications via control panel and using the Adobe CCleaner utility.
     b. Re-installing Creative Cloud w/ administrator privileges
     c. Attempting to reinstall application.
2. Tries the above but in Safe mode.
3. a. Looked at computer resources to make certain CPU wasn't somehow overheating.
    b. CPU temperature was not adversely affected nor did the utilization rate of any resources(CPU, GPU, Drive, Network) exceed 25%
    c. Viewed the event logs to determine if any errors were present. The even log displayed no errors had occurred during any of the forced restarts.
          On a side note- I found that despite Skype being told not to start-up on boot, it is actually reducing my boot time by 6 seconds!
4. Went into advanced settings and unchecked the box that allows windows to automatically restart on error.
I am at a loss as to why it is forcibly restarting my computer. Adobe products are the ONLY products that I have experienced any issues with during installation.
However, in order to remedy this issue here is some information regarding computer specs.

Please let us know the network environment are you in? Which operating system are you using? Do you utilize a proxy server or a software firewall?.

You may even try download using different internet connection if possible.

Spinning cursor mail bug

Every once in a while after a restart; I'll get what I call the New Mail/Widget bug; I can't open compose new message in mail; (spinning cursor) and the yellowpages widget has no text input field.
I solve the problem with a simple restart or a combo update.
Im just curious as to what the cause of this problem is? A bad bootup?
