Microphone bug? Microphone index always 0.

LCCS Microphone bug? Microphone index always 0.
LCCS 1.5.0.    Flash Player 10.3.181.34
When a user changed the microphone (using right click -> settings -> microphone, or Security.showSettings(SecurityPanel.MICROPHONE)) AudioPublisher still using mic with 0 index.
I look into code and find:
MicrophoneManager
protected var _micIndex:Number ; //TODO what is this initially (default)?
* Returns the currently selected microphone.
public function get selectedMic():Microphone
// trace('get selected mic, player');
_if(!_mic)
_mic = Microphone.getMicrophone(_micIndex);        <--- Here
Solution:
1. Now: Create my "Settings" panel, where user must manually change mic (not by Flash Security).
2. Want:
Set "_micIndex" default value to -1;
Than check:
if(!_mic)
_mic = _micIndex == -1 ? Microphone.getMicrophone(_micIndex) : Microphone.getMicrophone();
Or another solution. But it will be good if it work wright.

Hi There,
First of all, thanks for taking the time to report your issue - it always helps.
Interesting. We'll test to see if we see the same bug, and if so, we'll include a fix for the release-after-next. The next release is coming up very shortly, so we're out of time for fixes there.
thanks again!

4s microphone has malfunctioned on most outgoing calls for many months. People can't hear me for first 10 seconds of outgoing phone calls. I've synched w healthy Macbook Pro, replaced SIM cards, replaced iPhone 4s when Apple Store thought it was probably a hardware problem, called Applecare (no mic issue admitted). OS problem??? I think so! [Possible] good news: for the past 2 days, since updating to 5.1.1, no one has reported problems hearing me!
I'm concerned Applecare folks did not admit to me that so many other 4s users also has malfunctioning mics.

Why would that even matter?
The device obviously has a hardware issue and is under warranty, take it to Apple for replacement and move on with life. No reason to make things difficult.

• Enhancement/Bug? - Email always starts off in "All Inbox"

I have two email accounts set up - one IMAP and one Exchange. When I start the email it always shows me all my inbox messages. I'd like to start it up showing my default (Exchange, in my case) account.
Is this possible? If so, it's a bug or I'm missing something. If not, can I have it as a feature enhancement?

• Z-Index always 0?

Hi all,
I'm tearing my hair out here a bit, and finding the API documentation for edge to be not amazing.. Anyway, I've got a project set up with a bunch of stuff on the stage, and I just want to find out what order everything is in like so:
var stage = sym.getComposition.getStage();
var children = stage.getChildSymbols();
for( var i = 0; i < children.length; ++i )
alert( children[i].getSymbolElement().css( "z-index" ) );
But everything seems to have z-index as 0, and I have no idea how else to find out the order in which everything is drawn.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Joe

Hi, Jimmy-
Are you working in a dynamic symbol situation? We handle ordering in a slightly different way and don't rely on z-indexing. If you're not in a dynamic symbol situation, the easiest way to find out the order in which we're painting is to look at the elements panel - we paint from the bottom of the elements panel on up.

• [RECURRING BUG] Update will always fail when trigg...

Hi,
Since I have installed PC Suite last year, the same old bug re-appears each time a new release is made available. The scenario is invariable
1. I launch PC Suite and it tells me there's a new version available.
2. I acknowledge and accept the download.
3. PC Suite downloads the new installer and stops at 99%.
4. Then it tells me that it couldn't download the file (although it actually did), stops the process and deletes the downloaded installer (I can see it in my TEMP folder).
5. If I close PC Suite, download the file directly (I have written down the URL) and launch the installer, there's no problem. The new version installs correctly.
This bug has been reported multiple times but nobody seems to move an eyebrow.
I'm using XP Pro SP3. The problem occurs with all versions of PC Suite that I have used. My phone is an E71.
Regards.

• HT5525 Iphoto was preinstalled in my Macbook and now when I try to update, it's telling me that the update has to be done by other account. How to solve this bug, since there always been a single account in my Mac?

Does anyone has passed through this before?? I mean, both iphoto and imovie are under this bug, but they had already came installed on my macbook when I purchased it. Will I have to prchase the apps again to update them??

You may only update pre-installed software from the same Apple ID you used when it was downloaded from the App Store. You need to sign into the App Store using that same Apple ID you used when you registered your original purchase with Apple.

• I must to rebuild indexes always ?

dear friends.
I will move tables from another tablespace with ALTER TABLE
MOVE TABLESPACE <tablespace>. This is clear for me.
Only i want to move the table1, not its indexes, because this idxs are located in correctly tablespace.
So... I must to execute any statement like "rebuild" ?
Thanks in advance.

thanks Yingkuan
but i need to do that at the same tablespace ?
i mean:
- index1 belongs table1 and located at tbs_idx1 --> it is correct.
so... i must to do this??
ALTER INDEX index1 REBUILD tbs_idx1; (at the same tablespace ? )
thanks.

• Mission control bug -- can't always click windows?

Hi all-
I've been using Lion for few days now, and, in general, the new behavior of Mission Control is far better than Expose. I am having one problem, though, which is that sometimes, when I try to switch to another app, the window I click on just moves a bit instead of coming to the front. I've actually had situations where I end up clicking a window 5 times before it actually comes up. I don't know if the OS thinks I am trying to drag the window, rather than click it, but it is getting really annoying.
Anyone else having this issue?
Best,
-Zach

@thingsmove I would like to point out that feedback does do something.
@ds_store Saying it doesn't is a very defeatest way of looking at the OSX lion feedback box apple has provided.
My intentions weren't to give some link to play around with, it is a serious connection to Apple and one of the many ways we are able to, sort of, directly contact them.
If Apple just focused on the hardware and never it's users, I don't think it would be where it is today.
I never used spaces because they never made them work with multiple monitors (I've sent feedback about this after noticing they made it even worse in Lion). I've got all the "space" I need on three monitors and have successfully ignored "Spaces". Having said that, I'm aware of how exposé and spaces worked in SL.

• [bug] Windows Vista - Microphone - FP 11.8.800.94

Doesn´t work microphone!!!
The micro appear but doesn´t work, there isn´t signal.
Doesn´t work with: IE, Firefox, Safari and Opera. With Chrome, it´s working, but with very bad quality.
We have a lot of users with that configuration, so please give us a solution...
Thanks!
Jose Ramon Leon Somovilla

We also started experiencing the issue in late July 2013, and it's very hard to reproduce. Basically, in Firefox 22 using Flash 11.8.800.94, microphone is always detected, but sometimes there's no sound on the other end. Detaching/re-attaching the microphone to the NetStream fixes this.
We tried reverting Flash back to 11.7, reverting Firefox to version 21 - all to no effect, not to mention a bunch of other things we tried in the code.
Jose Ramon, have you been able to figure out any fixes/workarounds for the bug yet?

• Flash mobile development - AIR 3.4 and Microphone access

I'm encountering an issue with AIR 3.4 and the new Kindle Fire (2nd gen, non-HD).
There is no microphone, as Amazon's comparison chart illustrates: https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/specifications.html, but AIR is telling me that there is a microphone.
It also reports a value of TRUE for Camera.isSupported and CameraUI.isSupported.
So here's the scoop on Kindle Fire:
1st generation Kindle Fire does not properly support audio capture from within AIR (even with an external Microphone connected). For more information, see: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3197063
2nd generation Kindle Fire doesn't support audio capture unless an external microphone is connected. However, I don't know of a way within AIR to differentiate between headphone or no, because Microphone.isSupported always returns TRUE.
Kindle Fire HD supports audio capture with or without an external mic.
The best metric I know of to handle this, so far, is to use "android.os.Build.MODEL" to disable microphone use for the 1st gen Kindle.
This is kind of clunky though.
It also doesn't allow me to properly handle the 2nd gen Fire because there is no way (that I know of) to determine if the user has a microphone plugged in.
Anyone from Adobe care to weigh-in? (Or anyone that knows an alternative?)
Edit: Here's a test project that I've created that illustrates the problem:

<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" applicationComplete="init()"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" applicationDPI="160">
<fx:Script>

private function init():void {
cameraLabel.text = "Camera: " + Camera.isSupported.toString();
cameraUILabel.text = "CameraUI: " + CameraUI.isSupported.toString();
microphoneLabel.text = "Microphone: " + Microphone.isSupported.toString() + " => " + Microphone.getMicrophone();

</fx:Script>
<s:VGroup horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0">
<s:Label id="cameraLabel" />
<s:Label id="cameraUILabel" />
<s:Label id="microphoneLabel" />
</s:VGroup>
</s:Application>
Running this program on a 2nd gen Kindle Fire results in the following values being displayed on the screen:
Camera: true
CameraUI: true
Microphone: true => [object Microphone]

You can read this from the "/system/build.prop" file on Android.
Funky Monkey Studio has released a nice utiltiy class for doing this, NativeDeviceInfo.

• Microphone volume settings in the FP settings panel are ignored until changed.

When coding a streaming app, we've been noticing a bug in Flash Player where the microphone volume in the Flash Player settings panel is being effectively ignored, in lieu of some sort of default volume, until the user goes into the settings panel and actually changes it. The user has to do this pretty much every single time the page loads, and simply incrementing by about 1% tends to increase the volume by a very significant degree. Furthermore, if the user then decrements the volume in the settings panel by about 2% or so, thereby decreasing it below what it was originally, the volume still tends to be much louder than at first.
The actual volume of the microphone is always being set at some sort of relatively low default, no matter what the meter in the settings panel specifies; but as soon as the user goes in and does anything in that panel, then until they go to another page or something in their browser, the microphone's actual volume will conform to the volume meter in the settings panel. If they continue to change their settings, the microphone will adapt accordingly and proportionately - it just won't actually start off doing so.
What gives? Nothing exotic is being done to the microphone volume in the code - just stuff like setting the gain property within the proper range. We've tried restarting the browser after saving a different volume, deleting the contents of the sys folder to replace the settings.sol files, upgrading the Flash Player we were using, simply left-clicking the page to make sure it was fully in focus, etc. Is there a work-around or a way to avoid this issue? Thanks!

Being as it's completely impossible to write code for embedded Flash content with Flash Player, wouldn't this question be better asked in the Flash Professional or Dreamweaver forum, where there people much more skilled at editing embed code?

• T60 soundmax built in microphone records all the time, again! Vista

When using Audacity 1.2.6 and source set to "stereo mix", the soundmax drivers are again constantly mixing the microphone into the streaming audio, or other sound playback, such as VLC playing an .mp3 file.
When using Audacity 1.3.13 there is no "stereo mix" option to choose from, and again microphone is always recording when recording streaming media or other sound playback.
Using microsoft update this last week, for some reason microsoft has removed the 2009 update which corrected this problem. Microsoft update says the 2007 drivers are now the latest soundmax drivers for my computer, and has changed them back.
I can't roll back or forward to the 2009 update. I did not do any manual changes, all updates from microsoft are set to automatic.
Audacity only uses the system drivers, this is not their programs fault, this is a driver fault between vista and soundmax
please fix ASAP as my compute is now useless to me until its fixed!
BTW turning on stereo mix from Vista did not fix the probem, the microphone records even under selecting the input to CD. If I mute the microphone, then there is no sound input under any input setting.

hey midnightvisions,
uninstall the current audio drivers that you have. let windows install its generic drivers.
then test with audacity and see if you're able to use it as how it should be.
later on, visit http://support.lenovo.com and update your audio drivers accordingly

• Integrated Microphone active at all times on T43

One day, after a long time of no use with my laptop, I powered it on and found out, that the microphone, that is above the Esc button is active.. at all times.. If i add a microphone to the mic input, then i have 2 recording microphones, except that one is active at all times.. and sends whatever it hears to the speakers..
Solved!
Go to Solution.

For my T61, the same is true - the microphone is always active because the stereo-mix function has been disabled. However, you can disable the sound coming out of your speakers by doube clicking on the sound icon in your system tray and hitting "mute" under the microphone output. If you don't see it, go check the advanced properties to make sure all the stereo-out options are enabled so u can mute the appropriate one.

• Ultra slow indexing while connecting external drives

Hi, this is my first post.
I've some problems with Lion, under Snow Leopard it was all ok.
This is my setup:
i've 73 (yes 73) external hard drives each one containing tons and tons of files (textures, libraries, images, documents).
Under Snow Leopard, when i plugged one hard drive and searched for a file (example: .rar) in Spotlight, in few seconds i had the complete listing of the .rar files in that hard drive.
Now, if I plug that hard drive, i see some strange issues:
-it lists always some 1040 - 1060 .rar files even if i have 18567 .rar files on that drive. This happens in few seconds, then it starts indexing - always
-the scroll is VERY slow compared to the scroll in snow leopard, i mean it takes time to get to 10.000+ files option (snow leopard was faster)
-i've to index each new hard drive i connect to my macbook, and this is time wasting. In Snow Leopard i just connected new hard drives with files on them and in few seconds i had access to the whole list of .rar files.
Now, is this a known Spotlight bug?
This is the reason why i dual booted with SL, because when I have to search files on a new external HD it's faster for me to reboot the machine, enter SL, do a search, copy the file on the internal HD and then reboot in Lion. This is not good.
Any ideas?
Don't tell me to upgrade to 10.7.x please... that does not resolve this issue.
Thanks
ps: my internal HD is a Seagate Momentus XT 500gb 7200 with 4gb SSD fwSD25

I am having the same problem and I just heard back from an Apple Tec stating that the engineers purposly removed the ability to Spotlight External / Networked hard Drives with Lion OS.
WHAT THE H*LL WERE THEY THINKING. Why would the engineers take out the the ability to index External and Networked Drives?
Removing this feature slows me down to a crawl. I have 100's of files stored on USB Hard Drives at home and 1000's of files store on our company Network at work that I now have to look at line by line and folder by folder to find a file that I need.
What is the point of SpotLight if I can not find anything store on external drives?

• Mail indexing and lost sent mail

since yesterday, mail has been repeatedly indexing, always getting stuck on one particular email and taking over 1/2 an hour each time before allowing access to the program. Finally, I was able to run a search and delete the offending email before the indexing hung. I assumed this would resolve the problem. But no. It still gets stuck at the exact same point.
On the next pass I selected rebuild mailbox on the sent mailbox as this is where the particular email was. Now all the sent mail foir that account is gone. Yet indexing still reports as stuck on the very same email as before.
How can I get my sent mail back? How can I stop this endless indexing?
G4/400, G4/dual 867   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I am having same/similar problem with Mail 1.3.11 on 10.3.9. If I even open the Sent Mail box I just get the text that Mail is 'sorting messages' and in the right of the bar I get the spinning segmental timer but nothing happens. It says I have 400+ messages in the Sent folder but never lists them.
I cannot quit Mail either and have to Force Quit all the time. Sorry to say that I have started using Thunderbird with no problems but Mac Mail is my default mail app.
I click the segmental timer in top right of bar and up comes a list of active processes that are currently running. I click the big red Stop icons on this list but this doesn't stop them - things just grind to a halt. Mail doesn't quit/hang but just freezes.
Any ideas very greatly welcomed!
