Mail in repair ipod nano

For some stupid reason, (now I am regretting it), I decided to submit a repair request for my ipod nano that is out of warranty to get the broken screen repaired.  I went through their self service pages and entered the information including credit card info to pay for the service.  I selected the "Apple sends you a box and you use it to return the product to Apple" option.  When I received my confirmation email the instructions on it do not mention anything like "when you receive your box...", the way it reads to me is that I need to find a box to ship it in and then take it somewhere to be shipped.  I pasted the exact verbiage from the email below.  Has anyone had experience with this mail in repair service?  It has been 2 days, the option when I signed up says in "1 to 2 business days after you finalize this service request you will receive a box with instructions...", does anyone know if and when to expect it?  The confirmation email also mentions if they don't receive it within 10 business days, the repair will be canceled, does this mean I won't be charged or will Apple (since their terms say they don't give refunds) keep the money?  Of course the status page on the support site is totally worthless.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
"You'll need to send us your original product before we can send you a replacement. Be sure to send only the product itself. If you include extra items in the box, we won't be able to return them to you. Also, send it to us within 10 business days. Otherwise, this repair request will be canceled.
We recommend that you pack your product in its original packaging or a suitable alternative. Ship the package using a courier service that provides a tracking number and proof of delivery. You may want to insure the value of the product when arranging shipment, as this will not be covered by Apple. Please address the package as follows: "

You need to contact Apple directory to have them start the process over.

  • Time waiting for repair ipod nano 1st generation

Does anyone know the average time to send you the box to send to Apple Ipod Nano, to have it replaced?
I'm waiting from january, and the repair is:
Step 1 Request January 5, 2012:  Empty box shipped
    thanx

It should take a couple of days.  Something has happened with your box.  Call Apple and request a new one.

  • I sent in my iPod nano to the replacement program about two weeks back. However, I checked the status of the repair and it still says it has not been received yet. Is there any way to follow up on where the nano could be? I sent it via FedEx.

I sent in my iPod nano to the replacement program about two weeks back. However, I checked the status of the repair and it still says it has not been received yet. However, my boyfriend sent in his the same time I did and his repair status says repair being diagnosed. I still have the "receipt" of the package when they first sent it to me. I sent it via FedEx. Is there any way to follow up on where the nano could be or maybe find out if I can still get a replacement even though my nano might be lost in transit?

    I sent it via FedEx.
Call FedEx.  They will be able to track their own packages.  They will let you know if your iPod Nano was delivered and to who!

  • IPod nano repaired and no longer recognized how do I get it to sync again?

I had my ipod nano repaired, during which it was wiped clean. Now when I connect it to my computer it treats it as a new device and won't sync it with my ITUNES...how do I fix this so that it syncs again..please help

Go to Settings, and then turn iMessage and FaceTime on if they are off.  If they are on, then turn them both off, restart the phone, then turn them back on.
Go back to Settings > iCloud.  Whether the current or old email address is displayed there, try your current password.

  • Ipod Nano 6th Gen damaged Apple won't repair...any options?

I have had my Ipod Nano 6th gen for about 8 months and used it religiously during work outs...unfortunately I sweat a lot and apparently this will damage Ipod Nano to the point that Apple considers this to be outside the guidelines of normal manufacturer warranty.  I am a little frustrated by this as I spend a fair amount of money on Apple products every year.  Any advice on what I can do other than just sell it as damaged on eBay?

The best thing to do is consult Genius Bar. But as you have already said Apple does not honor the cause of damage and therefore not eligible for replacement. I recommend to visit an apple technical support to confirm the initial assessment.
You can try the out-of-warranty repair and determine how much it will cost you to repair. But try to weigh in cost of repair vs. a new replacement. Here is apple's statement about out-of-warranty repair.
If you want to set up your iPod for the Out-of-warranty service, we recommend that you take your iPod to a local Apple Retail Store. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Technical Support.
For more details, please refer to the Repair Pricing tab on the left.
If Apple determines that an iPod is not repairable, for example, if it has failed due catastrophic damage or the iPod has been disassembled into multiple pieces, then Out-of-Warranty Service is not available and the iPod will be returned. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

  • Just received my 3th iPod from mail-in repair, and afraid to use it.

I bought my iPod in june 2005. I remember having trouble putting music on it for the first time. After i had put some songs on it RealPlayer showed that there was memory taken, but didnt show any songs on it. I dont remember how, but i solved it and my iPod worked.
Till september. I started it up with the apple symbol one time. And i got the language selection screen first, and then i saw that all my music was GONE! I took it back to the shop where i bought it (no apple store, just a random one). They tried to reset it, but they told me that it got stuck while trying. So they mailed in repaired it for me. And i got a new one that worked properly!
But in november, it started to get stuck while playing songs, i reset my iPod with the menu and middle button every time it happened. It happened more and more, and in december i got the sad iPod symbol for th first time. But sometimes it worked again, so i listened to it for maybe 2 more weeks. In those 2 weeks i got the sad iPod symbol loads of times. And for the second time, all my music got deleted! (I looked this up on the apple support site, and that isn't supposed to happen all of a sudden!!!! So why does it happen to me TWO times????)
After those two weeks I went to the support site and did everything there. reset it, format it, install the new software etc. No use.
most of the times my computer got stuck when i attached my iPod to it.
So i mailed in repaired that one too.
Now I have a new one. But i dont want it to go sad and messed up again! What is wrong with me! why do all MY iPods break?
I would very much like to know what I do wrong before i'm going to use my new iPod to make sure this one lasts!
Can anyone help me? Is it my computer? Is it because i use RealPlayer? Or do i just attracted iPods with production failyers?
    Thanks, Marijn

    Hello HernanOtt,
Depends on where you have it serviced.  Here are Apple's repair quotes.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
You would probably save a lot of money by having a 3rd party repair company do the job for you instead.  Just do a simple Google search for iPod repair and you'll get a plethora of results.

i cant get started my ipod nano 5th generation,is dead ,how can i repaire it

As I said in my previous reply:
You either have to enter the ID and password of the previous owner or get them to remove the device from their account
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
I would return the iPod for a refund. If you can't then turn it into the police since it is worthless to you

  • The on/off button on my 6th gen iPod nano recently got spoilt and I sent it back to the shop for a repair/exchange a week ago. Now I have just found out about the new 7th gen iPod nano and I am wondering, can I get the new one as a replacement?

No.  You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

  • No repair on Ipod Nano under warrenty

I am so disappointed with Apple!
I got my daughter an Ipod nano only 6 months ago. It suddenly stopped working. As she was listening to it, there was a loud screech and then it went dead.
Apple is saying that there is "corrosion" at the place where you plug it into charge so it got wet and they will not fix it.
We are absolutely sure that we did not get the ipod wet through any misuse. The
ipod has only been exposed to humidity (and maybe some mild sweat while
running). We are absolutely sure that we did not misuse the ipod and fully
believe that either it was damaged during the manufacturing process (perhaps
moisture crept into it during the making) or that normal wear and tear caused it to malfunction.
We have purchased many apple products and never filed a complaint or false
repair order. We believe that this item should be repaired or replaced. An ipod
should last more than 6 months.
I can't even find an email place to write to them to ask them to reconsider my case.
    <Edited by Host>

No, I didn't misread at all. And I don't know what "mindset" you are disagreeing with.
You don't need to buy a case. You don't need to buy a car cover for you vehicle. They will both work fine without them. If you are careful picking the location where you clip your Nano you should not have an problem with sweat getting in. If you don't have a garage or carport and the weather is good you will have no problem with your car, other than washing it from time to time.
If you run outside with your Nano, and it starts raining (pretend you were in San Diego) then you are probably going to get water inside the Nano. Water and electricity don't mix so this will be bad. Guess you should have had a plug or a case. If your car is parked outside, you have no car cover, and it starts hailing (like it does where I am), hail and the metal (and glass) on your car don't mix. You will have damage. Guess you should have put a car cover on it.
Or are you saying that car manufacturers should sell a car that has metal thick enough that it does not dent (or scratch) and should use glass thick enough that it will not crack when exposed to any size hail. The iPod Nano should be ruggedized so it is impossible for water to get in anywhere?
If this is your mindset then expect a car that weighs about 9,000 pounds, gets horrible gas mileage, and costs a fortune. And a Nano that costs about $500.
