Mail is suddenly doing really weird things

Hi, I am starting to have my MAIL program acting very strange. For one thing, it keeps shutting down for no reason. Either in the process of reading or responding to an email, just sitting idle, or in the process of downloading new mail. I have read on forums about deleting all 3rd party plug ins (I didn't have any), deleting "things to do" in iCal (again, I lead a boring life so nothing there), relaunching (about a dozen times a day now) and just about everything else suggested short of a complete reset which I am afraid to do as I can't lose any of the emails I have in the storage. I currenty have about 20GB of free space still (and have for years). I have run Onyx and ran permission fixes gallore. It still shuts down for no apparent reason.
Now here are some other things it is doing since this started about a month ago. When I close out the program from the tool bar (Quit Mail), the window closes out but the MAIL remains in the tool bar with a greyed out "QUIT MAIL". I can not open a new window as long as this is in this way. I have to force quit mail to get it to relaunch.
I am also getting a lot, and I mean a lot (about 20+ per day) of my old emails from the past three years popping up in various folders that they don't belong in and indicating that they are "unread" ie: bold lettering. When I say various, I mean they are showing up in folders that have nothing to do with the subject or the client. They are suddenly appearing in other client or project's correspondence.
So what do I do or should I do. I have kept these emails in their folders as I do refer back to certain client subjects that are sometimes up to three years ago. One folder is just of emails from my son who passed away in 2011. His emails suddenly show up as new mail in various folders as well. I know tomorrow is Halloween, but this is a bit too spooky (or technical) for me to figure out.
Any one have any suggestions on what could be going on? and suggestions to fix it? Would a complete reset of MAIL erase all my folders and emails? I could probably loose some of my old client/project emails, but I do not want to lose my son's last correspondences to me.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.
If it continues to happen...
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

Hi,
As the title says, my 15 inch MB Pro (Osx Lion) is doing really weird.
I suddenly have some huge wifi problems.
Sometimes it suddenly says 'No hardware installed'.
When i reboot the first time it suddenly says wifi is turned off, and when i try to turn it on, it doesn't do anything.
When i reboot the second time, he is connected to wifi, but it can't load a webpage...
I really don't know how this suddenly appeared, i've enever had this problem before.
All i know is that the first time this problem came, was 2 days ago when i used my Magic Mouse for the first time after quite a while.

Change your router channel. Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router. Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.

Unlock the padlock
Locations: Automatic
Highlight Airport
Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

No internet connection (wireless)
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

Backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file, or maybe it's one of your apps causing the trouble. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

Mail is suddenly running REALLY SLOW !!??

Does anyone know why Mail would suddenly lag?
1. Takes forever to load emails (never did this before)
2. Mail boxes show up empty - then eventually reload.
3. Sent mail shows as "still sending" - but the receipient has already received
it on the other end.
4. Does anyone know how to re-install Mail (only) w/o installing the whole system? Then reloading all mail files?
Is there something seriously wrong?

I have had the same problem. Mail runs OK for ages but as soon as you try to send a large file to somebody it freezes, then duplicates the email several times and started to behave erratically.
It seems to do this especially if you use another application such as iPhoto or pages. I think the system just gets in a bit of a muddle. The only way I have found around it is to go into sent messages once you have completed sending the e-mails that you want to and deleting any that have large attachments associated with them. Make sure you then go to the trash and delete them from here as well.

P.S. There has just been a security update released that includes updates that effect the stability of mail, worth downloading didn't seem to correct the fault with my mail system.

Projects doing very weird things

This has really been driving me nuts.
I'm on Mac 10.8.5. Just recently updated to CC 2014 v8.
I've been working on several projects lately, and very weird things are happening every time I open a project. Usually when you save and exit a project, when you reopen it, it will open to the same sequence you were last working on, but for some reason every time I open it will load a random sequence I hadn't worked on in a long time. Sometimes when I open, the project will load slowly indexing and conforming and generating peak files. After it thinking for 5 minutes, I go to play my sequence that was fine yesterday and now some audio tracks that are still in the timeline no longer contain any audio. When I match frame, the audio clip appears in source, but has no waveform and will not play any audio. Some audio tracks do not have waveforms but DO play audio, and when I match frame on those, the clip comes up and plays audio but shows no waveform.
Restarted computer and now all the audio loads fine, but thumbnails for all video aren't showing.
The other day I had a similar situation with VIDEO. Clips were randomly "pending" or "offline" and I would 'link' them, but it would remain offline or pending. Eventually it fixed itself somehow.
I'm having a hell of a time here. This is really holding me back from my work. I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this as it is different everytime.
I'm working from an external harddrive that is brand new, and shouldn't be having any permissions issues...
Any insight would be appreciated!

Some trouble shooting:
Open Premiere while holding down shift+alt until welcome screen then
Clear out Media Cache database and remove remaining files in that folder manually.
See if that will help.

Apple screen at startup does a weird thing all of a sudden

We are leaving the country in 2 days for an extended time. We travel with the iBook and leave the MBP safely at home.
We just got a new high capacity battery for extra long run time for the iBook and it's great.
Now, I just noticed that at start-up just before the Apple logo goes away and grey spinning circle stops spinning and the next screen (opening OS x appears) the Apple logo and the circle seem to jump/wiggle a little to the right on the screen and then it all proceeds as normal. It's done this twice out of the perhaps last 10 starts I've done.
Does this mean computer death is imminent? Is there a quick fix if this is a problem? I don't have time to solve this if it is major.

Zen Micro Doing Some Weird THINGS PLEASE H

well i've had my zen for a long time and enjoyed it for along time till one day the screen goes blank but i could still listen to my music. its way out of warranty and i tryed to upgrade the firmware but my device wasnt recognized bye the update. Napster says its corrupt and needs to be reformatted and i dont know what to do. i took it apart and somone told me i could fiddle with a black little chip to get the screen to come back.my computer recognizes it and i can brows the files on it is there any way i could manually do the firmware update? any suggestions!!!!!! PLEASE HELP I BEG OF YOU IM DIEING WITHOUT IT

I (and many other people who own Creative products) had the same display issue that you are experiencing. I own a Creative Zen Micro. When I turned it on, the back blue light came on, but the screen was completely blank!? I could play my music, but could not see the menu, etc.
I first tried to do the reboot process, then I also upgraded the firmware. Nothing worked. After writing to Creative Labs tech support, they informed me that my MP3 player was one month beyond the warranty period. It would cost $85-$35 for tech support to fix the display problem. Ridiculous!? My techie friend told me that since it was already out of warranty, it would not hurt for me to pop open the back and see if maybe the connector from the main board to the display was loose. Well, I got even luckier than that. I openned the back, removed the battery, then I moved the back plate around trying to figure out how to pop it off. Since it was not as easy as my friend had said, I put everything back together to take it to him for help. I?turned the MP3 player on to make sure it still worked and the display was fixed!? I am thinking there must have been something loose or I just got really lucky. Anyway, it has been over 6 months and the display still works. Who knows, try what I did and maybe the same thing will happen to you. I feel for you. It is so frustrating when you spend money on something that breaks and find out it is a known issue. Good luck.

My dear friend, please don't take my words personally. If you have any alternative easy process then you should go for that. Always try to achieve this with a Single SQL. If you cannot then only you should go for PL/SQL and if you are restricted there due to some non availability feature then you can go for Java Based Procedure.
Even if you are using PL/SQL, don't make simple thing complicated. Because, that may hamper your performance, too.
And, finally it will be wise to decide and design your PL/SQL solution in a simpler manner rather than making things more complicated way. Results may not only increase the overhead but also create a maintenance problem in future of that coding.

FCPX may be doing some weird things to my iphoto library

A few months ago I installed FCPX and since then my iphoto seems to swallow chunks of pics and store them in other places, ex. my external hard drive w/o my consent. Is this related to FCPX or strictly an Iphoto problem?

Display doing really wierd things! please help

Hi- All of a sudden this morning the display on my ibook did this most peculiar thing. The fonts and everything on the desktop got much larger and the whole screen moves around as if it is being dragged (as in drag and drop). I'm using an external mouse (the trackpad has been dead for years). I changed mice to see if that would solve the problem, but no luck. Rebooting doesn't help either. As it boots up everything looks fine, but as the boot up process finishes everything increases in size and then moves around when I move the mouse. It is enough to make me sea-sick! Really weird thing with NAT

We recently had to change the IP address and subnet mask of our servers. I followed a couple of TIDs showing where all of the changes are to be made. We are now running into a very weird problem on our Border Manger server. We are running version 3.6 and it is on a Netware 6 server. When the server is rebooted, no internet traffic (other than HTTP proxy) can get through. I have checked all of the settings and everything seemed to be fine. Checked INETCFG to make sure that IP Packet Forwarding was enabled and made sure that pass thru was enabled. Ended up checking TCPCON and found that the IP Packet forwarding was disabled. In order to get IP traffic flowing again, we have to disable IP packet forwarding in INETCFG, save the settings, reinitialize the system, go back into INETCFG and reenable IP Packet forwarding, save the settings and reinitialize the system. Once this is done, everything seems to work fine (till the server is rebooted again) I cannot figure out what is causing this. Does any body have any direction to resolve this issue?

Screen doing a weird Thing!

I have this pic that shows what my screen is doing from time to time and i have to sleep it to make it normal again. have no idea what it is and would love to get some light on what it could be and what it is , or if its fixable, When i take a Screen shot off my computer it takes a normal shot so i had to use my camera to show you what its doing.

First your screen clearly shows a session of MS Windows on it, are you saying you are running it on an iMac. If you are it appears you are using Boot Camp and should repost on a Boot Camp forum. When you do please provide any additional information such as what computer , OS X version and what have done to trouble shoot the problem.

Audio missing, doing very weird things

I am nearly finished with a project in iMovie 11 and several sections of audio are not playing properly, for no reason. The original audio from the clips - some parts that I silenced (set to zero) are playing and parts I want to hear are not. Some sound effects that previously worked fine I am not hearing. I had problems with files showing up corrupt but I checked and there are currently no corrupt files. On one playback of a section, both the added music file was playing and the original audio (that I had set to zero) was playing as well. Then, playing back the same section later, I couldn't hear either of them. There's no apparent reason why it's acting up like this.

Some trouble shooting:
Open Premiere while holding down shift+alt until welcome screen then
Clear out Media Cache database and remove remaining files in that folder manually.
See if that will help.

My ipod does weird things

So I have a 30g video ipod that I have had for about a year now. Lately it has been doing so really weird things. It will be fully charged but run out of battery in thirty minutes or less, and it takes it anywhere from ten to fifteen seconds atleast to do anything. Play a song, pause a song, go through menus, everything. I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas as to what is wrong or what I can do. My last resort would be sending it to apple.

Well, after getting NOWHERE with online help, I sent in my iPod for repair. After having it out of my possession for about 5 days Apple happily informed me that nothing is wrong.
Yet, SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!
It still doesn't "start"* my iTrip. Even though mine works fine on my wife's Nano. And even though hers doesn't work on mine. And even though it doesn't always get recognized by the computer when plugged in. And even though when it does get seen by iTunes, iTunes (about half the time) thinks it is corrupt and needs to be reformatted.
Oh, and now it doesn't charge through the iTrip port anymore.
But hey, nothing is wrong.
Anyone with anything helpful?
And before anyone suggests it again, I've restored the thing several times.
*By start I mean that the iTrip (LCD) will turn on and begin transmitting. Most of the time I have to fiddle with turning the iPod off and on and/or resetting it to get it to finally work. That process usually takes about 15 minutes or so.

Weird thing in Safari

Not sure why, Safari just started doing this weird thing.
After I click on an item in eBay, or click any page on any site, when I 'swipe' back using my Apple Magic Mouse, the page jams a few pixels back and it freezes, mouse won't click on anything in Safari after that. I have to quit and start again.
I trashed system pref plist for Safari, made no difference.
I repaired permissions (three times) and get the following, anyone know what this means or why Safari has started doing this or how to fix it?

and confirm. Test.
2. There are reports that this problem can be solved by simply restarting, or by resetting the PRAM.
Repairing permissions is a waste of time.
