  • Bit wise operator and octal help

    Author: JAVANewbs Jul 29, 2004 10:23 AM
    I tried to do this problem,
    System.out.println(010|4);
    and I thought it's six but it's actually 12.
    Why is it outcome is 12?
    I read the answer, it is because 010 is octal but how to tells if it is octal or hex or binary?

    Sorry for the confusion: Let walk from the beginning...

    Hex is represented by ox
    Oct is represented by 0
    and what about binary?

  • Bit wise operators

    Does Forte have bit wise operators? If not, does anyone know how to
    implement bit wise operator
    functionality.
    For example.
    A, B : integer;
    A = 10;
    B = 8;
    MyCheck = A Xor B; //should return 2 (bit-wise comparison)
    // or in C-language
    Mycheck = (A ^ B);

    Try downloading the trial. It ought to detect that you have a 64-bit system.
    You aren't using Vista, are you? PSE 13 requires at least win 7 and I think a few folks with vista have gotten a similar error message on trying to install it.

  • "This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.  This host does not support Intel VT-x"

    Hi, I have installed vmware 5.5 hypervisor on hp G8 microserver. I have created one vm as windows 2008 R2. I have also install vmware workstation 11 on this vm. In this workstation when I tried to run vmware 5.5 hypervisor I come across "This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.  This host does not support Intel VT-x" this statement. Which shows that the host machine does not support virtualization and for that you need to go in Bios and enable it but in present case as host machine is also a vm and you would not find much detail of Bios when you log into the Bios therefore, I am pretty much stuck here. I don't see any information in relation to this. Now my question is:
    1. Can we run ESXi inside a vm which is already sitting on ESXi?

    I moved the discussion from VMware Workstation to Nested Virtualization which contains several hints on what's possible and what needs to be configured to make things work.

  • Installer does not support installation on a 64-bit windows operating system?

    I purchased adobe photoshop elements and premiere elements, photoshop has installed fine but when the installation of premiere should complete I get a pop up saying that the installer doesn't support the installation on a 64-bit windows operating system. I don't have a disc, just a software download card.

    Hi ,
    Premiere Elements 12 have different installers for 32 and 64 bit machines.
    Please download 64 bit installer from the link:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=premiere_elements&loc=en_gb
    Also,your serial number will work for both the installers.

  • Installing Oracle Web Tier 32-bit on a 64-bit Linux Operating System

    Hello,
    We're trying to install the 11.1.1.2 32-bit web tier on a RHEL 5 64-bit system following these directions: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/doc.1111/e14770/install.htm#CHDCGDJG
    We're trying to figure out the equivalent on our system to these notes:
    "c.Using a text editor such as vi, create a new file called gcc41 that contains the following conent:
    #!/bin/sh
    exec /usr/bin/gcc.orig -m32 -static-libgcc
    -B/usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/2.95.3/ $*
    Note:
    The file i586-suse-linux/2.95.3 may differ slightly depending on the exact version of your Linux operating system. Verify the exact version of your Linux operating system in use; search for the 32bit directory in /usr/lib/gcc and obtain the exact file name."
    We think ths might be the closest thing:
    [root@server1 32]# pwd
    /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.1.1/32
    [root@server1 32]# ls
    crtbegin.o crtbeginT.o crtendS.o libgcc.a libgcc_s.so libgomp.a libmudflap.a libmudflapth.a libstdc++.a libsupc++.a
    crtbeginS.o crtend.o crtfastmath.o libgcc_eh.a libgcov.a libgomp.so libmudflap.so libmudflapth.so libstdc++.so
    Can someone tell us what "file" they are speaking of in this environment? Or is that "2.95.3" a directory??
    Thanks for the help!

    For anyone that might run into the same problem, here's what needs to be in the gcc41 for a RHEL 5 64-bit platform:
    #!/bin/sh
    exec /usr/bin/gcc.orig -m32 $*

  • Adobe's new 64 bit multimedia operating system code named Quick Silver

    As far as I know Adobe is not creating a 64 bit bit operating system but I wish they would. Or at the very least they should make a web browser called Quick Silver.  I am writng this because I seen the Mozilla Fire Fox video. I think Moziila will soon write a mobile OS and maybe even a desktop OS. They are even asking for donations. I like Fire Fox because it is free. If they charge for it I would probably just use IE. I know Adobe has the free Acrobat Reader and Flash Player why not a web borwser? I think if Adobe created an OS and gave it away free for 18-19 months it could get a large amount market share. Two years later they could start to charge $35 for the OS. I think within 3 years Adobe could get 50% of the market share for new computers if the OS was only about $35.00 for the download version ($45.00 retail version).  I don't doubt that Adobe could get a good 50% of the market share and other multimedia software and hardware vendors would also support the Adobe OS. Before I make the feature request I would like to know your thoughts.

    Imagine if the car industry ran like software/hardware:
    Dragging your car home with a rope (and no wheels because they were not included) to spend 8 hours removing unnecessary things like 'McAfee windshield wiper fluid made from glue', 'iMovie sticky gum' on the upholstery, and "VAIO media player lemon scent deeply rigged into the AC unit" which has pretty much nothing to do with the car... only to call the dealership and ask: "when I start my car and pres the window down button the right blinker turns on and then the vehicle stops" then be put on hold for 6 months to receive the following response "what was the number of times the blinker flashed before the car turned off? we need that number to determine what part to send"... and then when you finally DO get the wheels the dealership releases a new version of your car and the state puts a road law into effect that crashes your vehicle when it touches the road unless you pay the dealership to upgrade from car 1.5 to car 1.5.7390... which when you do the engine is not supported? So... you buy the NEW NEW car that comes with 1.6 installed in the engine and find out the wheels will not be released till next month.
    dig?
    ~lol.
    i do try remain cheerful and hopeful... but its not funny anymore.
    you make a good point, but... are there some sales statistics for that?
    light trolling, but seriously, does final cut have a support problem, roll out fail, error code and forum track record anything at all like this?
    google ->site: forums.adobe.com = About 12,500,000 results
    google ->site:forums.adobe.com = About 3,880,000 results
    I think the FCP thing is a great idea. Lets check back in a year and see who bought it...
    I would totally would have preferred to pay $6500.00 for a "Dedicated Adobe Tower Master Collection Desktop" @ $65 per month (hardware included)
    instead of the $20,000 shelled out over the last 10 years on soft (PLUS another 2 desktops and 3 laptops and the gadgets since 2002)
    not to mention the time lost. the valuable time I will want back on my deathbed. lol
    Even if Adobe does not do a proprietary OS, I am thinking it still makes sense for some 3rd party to bundle, its not the same though...
    Apple is on to something in my opinion.
    Imagine Apple and Microsoft teaming up with Adobe to produce very specific machines?
    Other industries do this, they communicate, they have standards, look at how Vehicles and Tire manufacturers collaborate...
    When a new car comes out they don't just change the wheel well and expect the Tire manufacturers to follow suit later, no indeed, that kind of thing is rolled out proper and one can drive right off the lot the day its bought.

  • 64 vs 32 bit kernal operation

    How do I know if my Mac is operation in 64 or 32 bit mode? I cannot see anything in the About this Mac area under the Apple menu that tells me this.
    Thank you

    If you have a Core2Duo or later Intel Mac it is a 64-bit system. Only a handful of models will boot a 64-bit kernel. All boot into the 32-bit kernel by default. But they will run 64-bit software, and Snow Leopard's components are all 64-bit except for a few drivers that are 32-bit. If you open Activity Monitor you will see whether a process is 64-bit or 32-bit by looking under the column heading of "Kind."

  • HEY ADOBE!!!! ANY PLANS ON MAKING BRIDGE CS3 OPERATIONAL!!!!!

    This is by far the biggest piece of useless software I have ever used!!! I will not even be using it and when I go back to it, I have a message saying it has crashed!! Refresh rates are awful, I think you should refund the price of bridge to everyone or at least buy us a program that WORKS like maybe Extensis Portfolio or ACDSee Pro. I've used alpha and beta programs that weren't this bad!!!! TRY LISTENING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!

    I struggle from time to time with Bridge also but I've found that if I'm patient with it, it tends to be more stable.
    What I mean is, Bridge seems to need to have a minute or two to sort out its complicated brain upon loading. If I push it too fast (trying to open folders which, when they don't open, I click on another one), then the program locks up and I have to force close it and open again.
    Now I sit and wait a minute or so until the folder directory spills out in the left panel, then I go to work.
    In XP it tends to be stable, but a bit slower (XP only uses 3GB of my 8GB memory). In 64 bit Vista, it's more stable, interestingly, because I have the full 8 GB available. Although reportedly Photoshop can only address 3GB, it still is noticeably faster. Bridge in particular.
    It will still crash in Vista if I push it. But otherwise, it's very stable. It's just a matter of getting to know it's sluggish personality.
    Plus I really like Bridge over Lightroom because I can select 20 camera raw files (CR2) which opens the Raw dialogue in Photoshop. I process them all, and they save in about 90 seconds, then on to the next batch.
    I worked a bit with Lightroom but it seemed (even though I do have dual monitors) that I could only really work on one image at a time, so that means repeat steps for each image, which are done in batch mode in Photoshop's raw dialogue.
    What I mean is, I can do batch changes in Lightroom, but in PS, the thumbnails are there in the RAW dialogue so I can individually adjust without a lot of trouble, then save the entire batch. In LR, correct me if I'm wrong please, I haven't worked with it much, I haven't found a way to work that quickly.
    Do any of you use Lightroom for processing large batches of images at once, in a more efficient way than I've discovered? I'd prefer to use it, but Bridge, when it's stable, works so well for the way I workflow.
    good luck
    jim
