Manage Data Targets - ORA 03114 SQL Error

Can someone help with this one.....
We have recently patched up to 24 in our BW Dev and all was well.
When I now go into cube...manage and contents. I simply want to select a few characteristics and view the data. When I choose a particular characteristic (0profit_ctr) and ask it to display, I get the following error message..
Runtime errors         DBIF_REPO_SQL_ERROR
Database error text........: "ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE" Triggering SQL statement...: "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB=============CP "
The current status of the ORACLE instance cannot be determined. It may still be inactive or the database administrator may have restarted it . In any case, all systems that have accessed the ORACLE instance
must be restarted after the ORACLE instance has been restarted.

It seems to be pointing to the following line of code in LRSDRSF04...
DESCRIBE TABLE <l_t_data> LINES l_count.
which is part of this statement..
If less than 'i_pkgsize' many tuples are read
=> end-of-data is reached
    DESCRIBE TABLE <l_t_data> LINES l_count.
    IF l_count <> i_pkgsize.
      e_eof = rs_c_true.
    ENDIF.
ENDIF.
I can select other characteristics and they display OK. Reports seem to work OK. 0Profit_Ctr is active. Have emptied the cube and reloaded data. Still get the problem.
Just to confuse the issue, if I select 0Profit_ctr and 0priority together, it works (0priority is a nav attribute of 0profit_ctr)
But if I select 0project (project definition) which is also a nav attribute - it fails !
There does not seem to be any clear pattern. Some other cubes that have 0Profit_ctr have the same issue, whilst others do not !
Our Basis team have had a look and say its a 'data' problem, we will have to re-build the cubes !
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We had the same problem. As you probably know you can define different updaterules for characteristics for separate keyfigures. For instance: for the first keyfigure get the controlling area from characteristic 0CO_AREA in the ODS and for the second keyfigure get the controlling are by a constant value 'KAD'. In our case we could solve the problem by using the same updaterules for each keyfigure and reloading the data in the cube. So maybe you can have a look at that.

I have an ODS, which loads from a flat file. When I load data, during activation I am getting error on subsequent processing stage with status 5. What is interesting to me is, request is available for reporting icon is turned on, but I am seeing a status RED on Manage data targets. Even if I try to change manually the status to green as I am seeing the data, it didnot allow me. The error I am seeing on details tab of monitor is as shown below..

Eventhough it says activationt terminated with errors, how it got the icon on request for reporting option on? How to correct this issue? What am I missing. when does the record mode Y record will be created? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi!
I had a similar problem, check your file and ods definition, maybe it is not correct.... and before you load replicate datasource and re-activate the transfer rules.....

Performance Tab in Manage Data Targets

Hi.
In the Performance tab of Manage Data Targets screen, under DB statistics, it's stated "10 percentage of IC data used to create statistics".
What does this mean?

here is some info from SAP help:
"Specify the percentage rate of InfoCube data that is to be used for compiling statistics.
The larger the InfoCube is, the smaller the percentage rate you should select, as the system expenditure for compiling statisics increases with the increase in size."
"For up to 10 million entries in the InfoCube, you should set the percentage of InfoCube data, that is used for creating the statistics, to 100%."

User Managed Back-up : ORA-00600: internal error code

Hallo!I was trying to assess whether I can implement a user managed Oracle 10g database backup of an orcl instance (for testing purposes).I know how to use RMAN but I am just curious about a user-managed back-up and recovery solution
My idea was to copy the db files (controlfiles,datafiles,redo log files)in the oradata/orcl directory to a different disk partition,delete the orcl folder,return the copied orcl folder to the oradata folder and startup the instance.
After doing this,I tried to startup the instance but it could only reach the mount stage.When I typed the alter database open command,the error below resulted
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcratr1_lastbwr], [], [], [], [],[], [], []
I am aware I can use the recover database command in RMAN but for curiosity purposes,I would like to know if an alternative option exists to recover the db assuming a user managed backup without RMAN.

a. SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE/NORMAL before you did the copy
OR
b. in Backup mode with ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP
You need either of a. or b. (Oracle cannot stop you from copying files when the database is open but needs to know that they are copied in a fuzzy state and that is one of the several things that the ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP does).
If you used method b. you also need an ALTER DATABASE END BACKUP, ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE and a backup of the ArchiveLogs generated between the BEGIN BACKUP and END BACKUP.

Filtering request in Manage Data Targets

Hi,
is it possible to filter all Requests loaded in the data target (InfoCube) by some criteria (InfoSource or DataSource, Source_System...).
I would need filtering to locate all requests for delete (delete requests form one Source System / delete all request form particular InfoSource / etc.)

Hi,
At an infopackage level, under the tab 'data targets' there is a column titled "automatic loading of similar / identical requests from infocube". If you click on this, you will be presented with a window that will allow you to delete existing requests based on various criteria like if infosources are the same, if datasources are the same, source systems are the same etc. etc.
Check and see if this functionality meets your requirement.

Duh, and of course I missed the significance of
oracle 10 Xe in unix
XE is only supported for Linux - according to the downloads page that means "Debian, Mandriva, Novell, Red Hat and Ubuntu".
Oracle have not publically stated the reasons why XE is only available on Linux and Windows, but my guess is that it is something to do the Intel chip architecture. If this is so it would be possible for Oracle to port XE to run on Solaris for x86. But they have not done so yet.
Which means, alas, that you are unlikely to get any help for this one, because XE is not supported on any unix platform.

Can UCP(Utility Control Point) and MDW(Management Data Warehouse) use together?

Can a server join a MDW and UCP at the same time? It seems that after i enrolled a instance which has joined a MDW, the collection data uploaded to UCP data warehouse only.
So can UCP use exist MDW data directly?

UCP system uses the Data Collector feature from SQL Server version 2008.
If you’ve implemented the Management Data Warehouse feature in SQL Server 2008, you’ll either have to break that relationship and start pointing that data to your UCP instance, or you won’t be able to monitor it with this utility.
When enrolling an instances in UCP that is already using MDW, the UCP enrollment routine will change all the collections to go to the sysutility_mdw.
We could change the collection set to send data, including UCP data to our MDW database , the UCP utility on the manager would not see the MDW database. So in personally, UCP not use the MDW data directly.

You may look into the following My Oracle Support Document: DataPump Export (EXPDP) Failed On Identifier SYS.DBMS_JVM_EXP_PERMS Must Be Declared [ID 1095533.1]
According to the document the versions affected are 10gR2 and 11gR1, but, the workaround may solve your issue.

I think that backups may also have this error.

The error seems to be saying that a pointer is pointing to an invalid page.
Actually, the assertion message is suggesting that we were scanning for a row (record) on a particular page where we expected to find it, and didn't - the table page is likely corrupt.
Does a utility exist which would eliminate all pointers to invalid pages?
No. If the database is corrupted, it is best to move to your database recovery procedure from a valid backup. See KBA 1959391 - How can a SQL Anywhere (stand alone) database be restored from a full or incremental backup?
If you do not have a valid database backup but can still start and connect to the corrupted database (and it seems that you can), you can attempt to salvage the data out of the corrupted database tables manually to extract it to a new database (as Jinwoo suggested). See KBA 1959030 - How To Salvage Data When There are Corrupt Pages in the Database. Using -e to skip tables is appropriate and then trying to select the data that is not contained on invalid pages via the KBA instructions is your best option in this case.
Does sap/sybase offer a recovery service?
No, there is no such "recovery service" underneath SAP and any previous mentions of salvages were one-off contracts underneath Sybase Professional Services, and not a technical support service. These contracts are not available at SAP.

ORA-03114 when updating or inserting

We are testing a forms application that has been 100% generated
through Designer6, running on version 8.1.5 database.
In one screen there are several blocks linked to different base
tables. If you try and update or insert into one block, the app
crashes with the ora-03114 disconnect error. You get kicked out
of everything.
There are pre-update and pre-insert triggers on this block but
the processes called therein see to run ok. I am a bit stuck on
why this is happening..it never used to and we havent changed
the source code! All the permissions seem to be intact.
Any suggestions?

I don't have any Windows Oracle database here, so I can't test, but, don't you have to CONVERT the database in order to switch from 32bits to 64bits? Did you check the Endianness problem against V$TRANSPORTABLE_PLATFORM or V$DB_TRANSPORTABLE_PLATFORM ?
In fact I'm not sure there's a conversion phase needed.. but the 32 to 64 bits phase might be what tricks you down.

There are two table emp1 and emp2 created from employees table from HR schema
I have deleted some records from table emp2 where department id is 110
main query is

now i created a foumula column

Error al ejecutar SQL plus y error ORA-03114

Instali Oracle 9i 9.2 cliente sobre windows 98 para conectarme a la base Oracle 7.3.4. La instalacisn fue exitosa y la configuracion del Net tambiin results exitosa, sin embargo, al ejecutar el sql plus me envma un error y hace referencia a product_user_profile, ademas, no puedo ejecutar mi aplicacisn en VB enviando el error ORA-03114: no conectado a ORACLE.
?Qui me falta por configurar?.
Al instalar Oracle 8i no presenta ningun error, funcionando todo exitosamente.

Assuming that's a proper translation, there are a couple of points:
- The 9.2 client ins't certified to connect to a 7.3.4 database. There may well be random issues with this configuration.
- product_user_profile indicates to me that your DBA may have set something up that prevents certain users/machines/applications/etc. from logging into the database. I'd try speaking with your DBA to see whether this is the case, and what you need to do to have the system changed.

Hey everyone, So I am trying to get a report onto the server, and in BIDS I kept getting a login screen repeating over and over when I tried to deploy my report, so I tried to upload the file at http://<servername>/Reports This worked, but then trying
to run this report from http://<servername>/Reports did not work either because "An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'FTYDataSource'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information
about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors" Anyways I tried to add a New Data Source (which I would use in the report) at http://<servername>/Reports, type ODBC, with the connection string Dsn=blah_blahblah.
I try to test the connection here and get the error ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified This is really getting old fast, everything I try, a new error comes up. Granted I am new at this,
but this still should not be this troublesome. Does anyone have any ideas on what could FINALLY allow me to just put a report out onto the server?!? THANK YOU in advance for ANY help.

Please try setting the credentials of the datasource.
1. Double click and open the datasource in your project.
2. Click on the credentials tab, and click on option button 'Use this username and password'
3. Enter the username and password to connect to the datasource
4. Deploy or upload the datasource to the report server and try accessing the reports.
