Managing entries and archives in iWeb podcasts

Is there a way to keep files on the entries page? I uploaded several files and only a few are displayed on the current entries page the others appear in the Archives page and are not automatically downloaded when someone subscribes to the podacast and opens iTunes.
I would like to have control over what stays on the entries page.

1. Open up iWeb
2. Click on your blog/podcast page
3. Now open the Inspector
4. Click on the RSS tab
5. Change the number of entries displayed

Display ALL "future" entries and archive "past" entries

Is it possible to display ALL blog entries with a date that will happen in the future (today, and after today and as many as there are, not just 5), and place any blog entries from the past (anything dated yesterday and before) in the archive?
I have too many blog entries regarding items coming up in the future. If I have 8 future items listed, people can only see the 5 that are the farthest into the future - weeks and months from now. They can't the the ones that are two weeks from now, or two days from now without going into the archive - and that's just weird, archiving items that haven't even happened yet. I think Stephen Hawking would take issue with that.
So the simple solution is simply increasing the number of blog entires shown (to like a dozen or so), the better solution is archive the past items, show the future items. I'll settle for either one at this point.
If you can tell me how to do either, you will have made a lot of people's day.

So, while I will concede the point that perhaps my desire to have iWeb recognize dates in the future and dates in the past when compared with the current date it has in its brain and treat the archive accordingly, you have to agree the setting of "5" displayed entries is simply a setting that has nothing to do with the conceptions of blogging. Surely there is someway of telling iWeb to display 8 or 12 entries instead of 5. I'll gladly settle for that.
you can set iweb to display up to 50 blog summary entries.
Inspector --> RSS --> Blog pane --> change value of 'Number of excerpts to show'
iweb blog summary/archive entries have date string so you need javascript to compare that to today date.
to display entries with dates in the future just simply hide any entries with dates in the past.
and to display entries with dates in the past just simply hide any entries with dates in the future.

Delete the warehouse management view and archive before deleting.

I have requirement like this where I need to delete the warehouse management view from about 40k records
also need to archive the materials in order for the views to truly be deleted, instead of just marked for deletion.
Could you please help me in proceeding with this.

in this way which I described you will delete the warehouse managment view for the material ( after that your material will no longer exist for that warehouse management organization data, but the other organization data for the material will exist). It's depend on where you are going to set the deletion flag for the material in MM06 before Archiving/Deletion with MM71

Delete and Archive iCal entries

Hi,
With other agenda/ToDo programs I have used, things get full and sluggish after a certain amount of entries accumulate. Typically, there is an option to delete and archive more distant entries from the past, along with ToDo items that have been checked off. These can be opened and searched separately, and I have typically archived ~ yearly.
Is there any built-in option to do this with iCal? I know there is an option to backup the database, but I thought this was mostly in case of corruption or loss of the file. If there is no built-in option, is this necessary, or will iCal operate without slowing or problems no matter how many entries I have? I prefer to have the deleted entries saved and able to be searched, to help track down distant past appointments and tasks.
As a last resort, are there any separate programs that allow this? I have been unable to find anything thus far.

I just explored the gmail site and found the Archive button but no file. I selected a message and clicked Archive, homing the Archive file would appear. No luck. Nor can I find in the phone's Mail settings that I want to delete rather than archive. One would think Apple would have a document to suggest ways of managing email. One would think.

I had a drive failure and lost the iWeb file along with other things. I did manage to save a lot of user file documents but I don't see or recognize the my iWeb site file. It was on a 15" G4 Titanium pb. I'm trying to find a way, using version 2.0.4

Unfortunately iWeb cannot read or import previously published files, only generate them. You'll have to recreate your site from scratch.
However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site.

Settings>Store (or iTunes & App Stores if you are running iOS6)>Apple ID. Tap your son's ID and sign out. Sign in with your ID and password.
You shouldn't lose the music, but if you try to update any apps that you bought with the family ID, you will have to use that password that is linked with that ID in order to update.
Avoid downloading past purchased content with the old ID if you can since you will associate the iPad with the old ID for 90 days and you will lock yourself out of your own, new ID for that period of time. Read more about associated devices in iTunes here.

Accessing purged and archived calendar entries

I've been using Palm Calendar since 2003 (Palm Vx, Palm m500, Treo 680), but have never purged.
Now that I've got +32,000 entries, the sync takes too long and the phone takes more than a minute to respond if I select any calendar entry.
So I think I'll need to purge. My questions are:
1. How can purged and archived entries be accessed? Would that be the DateBook.dba file?
2. Does each successive archived purge add entries to the same file or do them overwrite the previous file with only the most recently purged items?
I'm sorry if the answers to these questions have already been posted, but I couldn't find them in any thread.

IWeb Podcast Blog: Main Page Only Allows 5 Episodes: Submitting to iTunes

Hello-
I have a podcast published with iWeb '08's podcast blog. I noticed that the main page of the podcast only shows previews of 5 episodes that you can click on. I know that you can easily change this with the inspector, but I don't want to have to many on the main page which will cause long page loading times. The problem is, in the RSS feed, it only shows the five episodes on the main page. I submitted this RSS feed to the iTunes store and got it accepted, but, just as I suspected, iTunes only shows the episodes in the RSS feed. *Is there a way to get a RSS feed for the archive of my podcast? If so, how can I change the feed iTunes has?* Could I just insert a RSS feed button on the archive page? Would that work?

If you go to the podcast page and use the inspector, clicking the RSS button at the top of the inspector window, then click blog you will see that it allows you to change the number of episodes shown on the main page. Could it be this?

Downloading iWeb podcasts without "Subscribe" button?

My "enhanced" podcast (photos & audio) in an iWeb podcast page runs fine in a QT window. But what if I don't want a "Subscribe" button on my page or my podcast published on the iTunes Store?
...How can a visitor simply download the podcast (right now) to put in iTunes on their computer and perhaps then onto an iPod?
Control-clicking on the QT window gives the option of "Save as QuickTime Movie" only if the visitor has QT Pro. But is there a way for a visitor to download/save the m4a/m4b file as a podcast from my iWeb Podcast page?
(Perhaps I'm missing something really simple here.)

A workaround for non QuickTime Pro owners.
Archive the file (Finder will add .zip to its name) and then use the "Link to File" option of iWeb.
A .zip file will always download and open (expand) with a double click.
Drawback is that now two files must upload which wastes bandwidth and server space.

I can upload documents (such as Word) to iWeb for people to download to their own computers then, right?
And I can take podcasts or other MP3s and have people subscribe to them on my iWebsite, right?

You can add a text link to a work document and when you publish that page the word document will be uploaded to the sites folder for download when users click on the text link. However, depending on how users have their browser setup to read text or Word doucments the document may be displayed in a separate window and then would have to be saved from that window.
However, if you zip the Word document first, Control-click on the file and select Create Archive of ...... and link to that archive file, it will be downloaded automatically when you click on the link. See the example here.
I can't answer about the podcasts as I haven't used or view any. But others better versed in that will certainly pop in and help.

NULL Value in Journal Entry and Wrong Tax Summary

Hi people,
I need your expert help for a big problem that appens to some customers.
They run SAP BO 8.8 SP:00 PL:12
This is the scenario:
You insert a new documet, A/R Invoice or A/P Invoice is the same, problem appear in all of them.
After you insert the document, using SQL Server Management try this Select statment:
Select * from JDT1 where JDT1.debit is null OR JDT1.credit is null
A list of record where listed. And, this is the problem, NULL values are all in the VAT Lines in debit or credit colums.
If you try to make a SUM(debit-credit) you discovery that, 1000,00-null=null
Consequently, TAX Sumary report, that probably use arithmetic operation like me in SELECT statment, count a wrong number when null values in DEBIT or CREDIT column in JDT1 for VAT declaration.
How could I solve? And how i can make invoices store 0 rather than NULL in the VAT Line?

I thinks there is a misurandertanding.
My problem is not SQL.
My problem is the SAP TAX Report.
I used SQL only for check data and discover why SAP raise a wrong TAX Summary report.
So, my question is: Why invoices write null values in journal entry, and how I can solve the problem that TAX summary report use null value in operations so the results are wrong.

Managing Events and/or Projects With Disk Images

I came across this method of managing Events and Projects a while ago. I finally got around to giving it a try. Personally, I really like this method.
It's simple.
It keeps things very well organized.
It's easy to open only the project or events that you want.
It's easy to consolidate and back up once you're done.
It takes some workload off FCP X by not having to always open up all your Events and Projects.
So, I thought I would share this for those of you who were not already aware of it.
This is my workflow: (based on the link below)
I create a Disk Image (named for the Event/Project).
(Note: There are two places to create the name, I use both, keep them the same)
I open up FCP X.
I typically put only one Event on this Disk Image.
I then reference whatever Media I need in this Event.
I usually don't bother to copy the media. (except when I'm done and I archive it)
You can create multiple Events, if you feel the need for additional organization.
Then I create however many Projects I need.
(since Projects equates to Sequences from prior FCP versions)
I have a unique Disk Image for each Event/Project that I work on.
To use them ...
First, always make sure FCP X is not running.
Locate the Disk Image in finder.
Double click on the Disk Image and it will Mount on your desktop.
(assuming it's not already mounted on your desktop)
Open up FCP X and it will load the Event(s)/Project(s) in the Disk Image.
If you don't want to work on an Event/Project in FCP X (make sure FCP X is not open), in Finder, simply Eject the Disk Image.
Now when you open FCP X, it won't be there.
Its not gone, but since it's not mounted on the desktop, FCP X simply doesn't see it.
To get it back (obviously quit FCP X first) simply double click the Disk Image in Finder and it remounts.
Open FCP X and you can see it's back.
You can open (double click to mount) as many Event/Project Disk Images as you want.
Just make sure you mount and un-mount disk images when FCP X is not running.
If find this to be a great workflow.

Re the final commercial spot. What I am getting at is if all my media is optimized and therefore in ProRes, and I export in ProRes using the current settings, then shouldn't the media needed to rebuild the project be the same or close to what an exported Quicktime would have been?
Perhaps the notion of "used clips only" is not what it says then. I took that to be the "media managed" feature otherwise why is that wording there. I guess "used" actually refers to all of the media for the project and associated events rather than just for the project. This is misleading because the DUPLICATE operation and menu prompt only appears as a result of requesting an action on the project item.
There are aliases in my original event folder, but before I started this process tried to get FCPX to consolidate media for the project and it already was according the app. Truth is, some of the media is outside of the FCPX required folders. So it's strange that it says it's consolditated, but it's not and yet in duplicating the project it moves the references to the new volume only to point back to the old volume.
So my next question would be: Is there no feature to back up only what's needed to rebuild the final project (edit) reliably. Moving the project moves everything. According to the FCP manual, it seems using the Duplicate feature is the way I should be archiving. However if by "used clips only" FCP X means all media and refrerenced events, then I guess there's nothing for me in here. However then, whey would there be an option (after choosing duplicate project) an option to Duplicate Project and referenced events. If "used clips only" means all media, then there's no difference between the 2nd and 3rd Duplicate Project options.

What actually happens when you "Manually manage music and videos"?

I'm afraid to try this option on my iPod, and here's why:
I am currently traveling for three months, and before I just left, I synced up my 80GB iPod with all the music I wanted (via playlists) and all my podcasts. I will not have access to my home computer for at least three months. However, I'd like to be able to sync up podcasts whenever I am at a computer that has iTunes installed (friends houses, etc..).
Someone told me I could do this by setting my iPod to "Manually manage...", and just add the podcasts I want, manually. Sounds good, but I'm afraid to try for fear that it will actually reset my iPod which would be disastrous since I don't have access to my music library on my computer.
Can someone reassure me that this won't happen?

What I meant was, what will happen to the playlists, music, videos and podcasts already on my iPod when I change from 'syncing' my iPod to selecting "Manually manage..."? Will they be wiped out and my iPod given a clean slate, or will they remain there and I can then add to them?

I have a podcast stuck on my iPod. It is not deleted from a Playlist upon syncing, even though I've deleted it from the Playlist in iTunes. It still shows up in the "On My Device" representation of the Playlist, and of course, on the iPod itself. So I thought to manually delete it, but of course it's name is obfuscated in the iPod's directory. So I thought that maybe I could do it by selecting "manually manage music and videos" in iTunes. Presumably files would become human readable then, yes?
Here's my question: What will happen to all the content already on my iPod via syncing if I check that box? Will it all (all 140 GB) disappear and have to be re-synced? Or can I check that box, go in and delete the one podcast, then uncheck the box, all without affecting the rest of the content already on the device?

If you post from a a question from the bottom of an article's page then you should get its reference, e.g. HT1535 in your case, on the post's title. The ability to edit you post only lasts for 15 minutes and allows you to correct/add extra info.
I get the 'manually manage music and videos' tockbox as described on that article. If you only 'videos' then are you using iTunes Match on your iPad ? I don't use it but I've seen posts that say having it enabled on a device can affect the syncing of music.
