Mandatory characteristic

Hi,
is it possible to create a characteristic that is mandatory or not mandatory depending on the value of another characteristic?
I try to explain:
if characteristic A is 123  than characteristic B is mandatory
if characteristic A is 321 than characteristic B in not mandatory
Thanks
MRPINK

Hi MRPINK,
You can give characteristics dependency, in characteristics B, say Characteristics A= '123' and select the check box "Entry Required" of the characteristics so is the dependency meets then it would be mandatory to fill the value of characteristic B.

  • Purchase order saved without Profitablity Segment mandatory characteristic

    Hello,
I have a problem with mandatory characteristics in profitability segment.
When I active in OKB9 transaction the indicator "Find profitability segment using substitution" in a cost element and I enter a purchase order using the cost element that has the indicator active, then the COPA characteristics, vendor and material are automatically filled in the profitability segment.
But there is a characteristic, that is mandatory and in this case not filled and the system does not display the error message no. 00055 "Fill in all required entry fields" and it is possible to save the document without this mandatory data.
    How could I solve it?
    Thanks a lot

    Hello,
also check the particular derivation rule in KEDR.
"For each step in derivation, you can define whether the system should display a message or simply continue derivation if no value can be found by that step."
Check the attributes of the step, in which the characteristis should be determined - there is setting "Issue an error message if no value found"

  • How to make characteristic as Mandatory

    Dear All,
In Batch Management, for a class, how to make particular characteristics as a "Required Entry".
In class, I can see "Required Entry" check box, but it is greyed out. How to make it as Mandatory.
Because, we have maintained "LOBM_HSDAT" characteristic for a class.
But while doing MIGO and MB1C, it is not asking to Manufacturing date.
Please let me know how to make it as mandatory field in a Class.
    Regards,
    Mullairaja

Not sure this would help you but you can try,
In t.code CT04, enter the characteristic LOBM_HSDAT and click on change button. Go to basic data tab. Check the box required entry, which you can find on the right hand side and then save. Test again. You must also test in t.code MSC1N apart from MIGO.
MullaiRaja, I must take a step back. The above solution proposed will not hold good for MIGO. To force the user to enter the manufacturing date/expiry date, then in material master ->Plant data/Stor.1 view, maintain the settings for min.shelf life, total shelf life and Period indicator for SLED. If these data are maintained, then when the user does MIGO and if there is no batch master already maintained, then the system will force the user to enter the manufacturing or expiry date.

  • Mandatory entry in the Characteristic value - CT04

    Hello Folks,
I created a new characteristic (classification view) for the material master, and I am trying to put the characteristic value as mandatory entry . Is it possible ?
Any answer will be very helpfull,
    Regards,
    Flavio Marcilio

    Dear Flavio Marcilio,
In IMG under Logistics General -> Material Master -> Field Selection
    or
You can maintain a transaction variant where in you can specify whether the fields are optional, display only, required entry, suppressed.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_webas620/helpdata/en/eb/5fab41d79b11d296190000e82de14a/content.htm
In the SAP Reference IMG, you can create transaction variants. Choose Basis Components -> Application Personalization -> Tailoring of Application Transactions -> Configure Transaction-Related Display Values for Fields (Transaction SHD0). Transaction variants allow you to preset values for fields in a transaction, set field attributes, or hide entire screens.
To execute a transaction variant, you define a variant transaction using the Transaction Maintenance transaction (SE93).
Once you have entered a transaction code and short description, choose transaction type Transaction with variant (Variant transaction).
To define a variant, enter the name of the transaction and the name of the variant. You can then use the new transaction code to start the special variant of the transaction.
    Hope this will help.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • Error while creating a Characteristic Variable with Replacement Path

    Hi all,
I am trying to create the Characteristic Variable ZVLOWDT (Low Date') with Replacement Path on characteristic ZSTARTDT (Start Date) and it gives the error 'Source to replace 'Low Date' is not defined.
I have created a User Entry Variable VAR_DATE (Start Date) with interval like '01/01/2009 - 01/15/2009'  and  Customer Exit variable ZVCPDAY (does some calculation based on the input of VAR_DATE) on the same ZSTARTDT characteristic. I want to get the 01/01/2009 (lower range date of the selection) into this Characteristic Variable ZVLOWDT. We are in BI 7.0 and the following are it's properties:
    General Tab:
    Description: Low Date
    Technical Name: ZVLOWDT
    Type of Variable: Characteristic Value
    Processing by: Replacement Path
    Reference Characteristic: ZSTARTDT Start Date
    Details Tab:
    Variable Represents : Single value
    Variable is: Mandatory
Variable is Ready for Input : unchecked
    Replacement Path Tab: Replacement Rule
    Replace Variable with : Variable
    Variable : VAR_DATE
    Replace with : KEY
Why I am getting this error, PLEASE ?
    Thanks,
    Venkat.

    Hi Khaja,
We could derive a Variable value from another Variable with out Customer Exit. There is a white paper.
First have the User Entry Variable (ZV_X) and it accepts the date range like '01/01/2009 - 01/31/2009'. Next create the Characteristic variable (ZV_Y) of Replacement Path for which source variable will be ZV_X and we could get the 'FROM Date' (01/01/2009) from the selection (ZV_X) into it (ZV_Y).
While creating the Characteristic variable (ZV_Y) of Replacement Path, I didn't find my newly created ZV_X variable in the list of available variables under 'Variable' header in 'Replacement Path' tab and it is causing the error  'Source to replace variable ZV_Y is not defined'. How could I create the Characteristic variable of Replacement Path, PLEASE ?
    Thanks,
    Venkat.

  • Classification Mandatory in Material Master

    Dear All,
I have multiple characteristics in a class attached to one of the material. I want to make some of these characteristics mandatory in material master itself, how can this be done. I know we can make 'entry required' in the characteristic but it only makes the value mandatory at the time of classification of batch. I want it to be mandatory in material only.
    Thanks
    geravine

    Hi ,
    You know the answer
I know we can make 'entry required' in the characteristic but it only makes the value mandatory at the time of classification of batch
    try out below steps,
create characterstic, and make it mandatory , attach it to class of calss type 300 , attach this class to material in classification view , as soon as you will open this view , system will ask you to assign value for this mandatory characterstic, and wont allow you come out of it till you assignh a alowed value.
    Try out and reply.
    Thanks

  • Can  WBS element be adopted as splitting characteristic for general GL

    Hello :
In our PS module implementation, the client requires that WBS element be picked up in the line item of account payable (vendor)  during logistic invoice verification.  Currently, we managed to post below document:
       Dr:    GR/IR   -  WBS1
                GR/IR  -   WBS2
                VAT
          Cr:  Account payable (vendor)
I am wondering whether WBS element can be selected as splitting characteristic for general GL? Therefore, WBS element can be posted for account payable.
As fas as I know, in IMG only three characteristics: Segment, profit center and business area are preferred as   splitting characteristic for general GL.  WBS element is regarded as splitting characteristic for Controlling.
Does anybody has experience on using  WBS element as  splitting characteristic for general GL?
    Cheers

    Hello,
You can add PS_PSP_PNR to the ledger scenarios with the transaction FAGL_GINS which intends to be used for updating the open item and sum tables of the New GL. after that PS_PSP_PNR can be defined as splitting criteria for controlling, but  can not be defined as splitting criteria  for general ledger.
The reason for this is that it cannot be guaranteed that such fields as PS_PSP_PNR are supplied with values on the account receivables/payables by the standard FI and integration processes. The settings as
zero balance or mandatory field can lead to errors in the system. Therefore we do not recommend the usage of such fields as split criteria for the general ledger.
While PS_PSP_PNR can be defined as split criteria for controlling, so the relevant lines are splitted on the Profit & Loss accounts which are relevant for the CO account assignments.
    With Best Regards,

  • Is it a bug in supporting Characteristic Variable?

    Hi all,
I just had a POC on BOE XI 3.1 + SAP Integration Kit 3.1 + SAP BW 7.  We use WebI as the front-end and use OLAP universe to connect to the BEx queries.  I discover that there seems to be an issue with the Characteristic Variable.  If the variable is Mandatory, I will get MDX error when I run the WebI report.  But if I change to Optional, it will be fine.
As I read the "Using SAP BW in Universe Designer" guide, seems either optional / mandatory variables are both supported.  So I think it may be a bug or something.  Anyone encountered this before?
    Regards,
    Derek

The problem is that if the variable is set as mandatory, it will prompt the following error?
A database error occured.  The database error text is MDX
    SELECT {} ON COLUMNS,
    [ZB1STORE].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS DIMENSION PROPERTIES
    [ZB1STORE].[4ZB1STORE] ON ROWS FROM
    [ZPZB1OA1/ZPZB1OA1_02_TEST] SAP VARIABLES [ZSTORES]
    INCLUDING [ZB1STORE].[0000001011001]. (WIS10901)
But then if I set it back to optional, no error will occur.
Therefore I want to know if it looks like a bug since I understand both optional/mandatory variables should be supported.
    Thanks.

  • Characteristic of header for locked the planning

    SAP Netweaver 7.0 SEM-BPS 6.0
    Hello experts.
I have a layout of planning. This a filter in the level of variable type exit, to several values singles of the characteristic cost center. This characteristic is in header. The variable is mandatory.
the problem is when a user to try to entry to planning  to a value of cost center that other user selected  in the before moment. For example:
USER 1: select value for cost center 10170 in time 1.
USER 1: select value for cost center 20000 in time 2.
USER 2: select value for cost center 10170 in time 2, but this last user can`t planning because  the data is locked for el user 1 selected in time 1 this value.
the locked of user 1 remains although this has select other value.
I believe to remember that the user 2 could planing if in the same time other user isn't planning the same value, but now i have this problem.

    Hi,
how does the user 1 select a new costcenter? Is how opening the variable dialog or is he restarting the layout?
If he is restarting the layout the locks should be reset. You can check this in transaction RSPLSE.
Please check this thread Re: Saving one layout in a workbook instead of the entire workbook for the "planning on the fly" concept.

  • Make Vendor Classification characteristics mandatory

    All,
We have a vendor classification class and a characteristic. We have defined this characteristic as mandatory in transaction CT04. However when I create or change a vendor (transaction XK01/XK02) and go into classification I am still able to save the document without filling in reqired fields. I do get a popup saying that I haven't filled out the required field, but if I just press OK I'm still allowed to save even if some of the classifications mandatory characteristics are blank.
We really want users to be forced to fill in all required characteristics. Is there a way of doing this? There is a SAP Note - 661368 - BAdI for required entry field check in the classification. Even by making the fields mandatory in the BADI, we are able to go back to the prev screen.
I also tried implementing a user exit - EXIT_SAPLCLFM_002 (include ZXCLFU02). The pop up works, but we land up with some other issues like additional tabs coming on the screen or the SAP pop up coming up (resulting in 2 pop ups). So I am thinking is this may not be our solution.
Hope that you can give valuable responses to my issue above.
    Thanks! Liz

    Hi,
Try This by writing code in user exit SAPMF02K
    sample code
    IF I_MSEG-SOBKZ = 'E' AND I_MSEG-KZBWS IS INITIAL.
    MESSAGE E002(ZSD01).

    Hi,
In the standard system you are always allowed to save the classification
even if it is uncomplete, you receive the warning message about the
required characters and if you save anyway, instead of preventing the
save it will change the status of the classification from '1' (Released)
to '3' (Incomplete). This is standard as the user should be allowed to
save the classification when incomplete and then come back later to
complete it at a more suitable time.
There is a userexit which you can use to change this functionality,
please review note 337262 which explains how to use this userexit
to prevent the save of incomplete classification.
    Best regards,
    Sandra

    Hi,
You cannot add an segment in the middle of other segments.
YOu have to add any segment at the last.
If you want to add a segment as the child of another segment, it should be added after the last child of the parent segment.
In you case, you have to add your segment after the E1CUCFG segment.(NOt under that segement)

  • Validate mandatory field in BPS Excel layout

    Hi Sdner
In my BPS Excel layout i want to have some characteristic as mandatory. If i don't put any value for them system will put a # by default which i don't want. system should prompt a error message that particular field is mandatory and enter some value. I can check this thru planning function(FOX) but the problem is all characteristics in that row will greyed out after function execution and hence can't be changed by user.
Does somebdy know if there is any workaround to solve this ?
    Thanks
    Tripple k

    Hi Tarun
Use XL macros to validate data in a column.
When macro executes it first unprotect the worksheet, then we have our custom code for validation and error message, after that it is followed by a  protect sheet command.
My Prob is that if error is there in any field raised by macro, user should be able to edit those fields but as we are protecting our worksheet in macro, editing is not possible.
I can't unprotect the worksheet because then user can change anything.
+Use a read function module on planning layout. While you are in layout change mode use lbexit_fm as a transaction code. You can read data from planning layout and write validation code and error message in ABAP function module.+_
I  used this Tcode and FM, but they are ment to read Non SAP area of Excel sheet. The actual layout(Data Record)(SAP Area) which we want to read is not coming in internal table while executing FM.
On Execution it is saying that reading and writing on SAP protected data is not allowed.
If you have done any of these workaround then can you please put some more lights on this ?
    Thanks

    Hello AD,
Hope you already know that you can not modify supplier catalog in any way as it's interpretted as supplier content and designed so that it should not be modified.
You can modify the content in Master catalog or procurement catalog to which your this supplier catalog would be mapped wuth many otref catalog.
In master catalog you can find button for your custom charactristic.
