MAPIResolveName on Windows 7 with Crystal 11 and 2008

Hi
I am using Crystal 11 on Windows 7, when utilising the MAPI export functionality provided by Crystal I receive an error relating to MAPIResolveName, which after some searching appears to be an obsolete MAPI function from previous versions of Windows. I have tested this under Windows 7 with both Crystal Reports Writer 11 and Crystal Reports Writer 2008, and get an identical error with both.
As this is an issue with the implementation of MAPI within Crystal, I was wondering if you have a fix for this?
Thanks in advance,
Gaz

Update to the final patches levels:
CR XI R2 - Service Pack 6 and then Fix Pack 6.2 ( need to get this manually sent )
CR 2008 - Service Pack 2 and then [Fix Pack 2.6|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100004723372010E/cr2008fp26.exe]
- [Service Pack 3 full build|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip] and then [Fix Pack 3.1|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/sapidp/012002523100010605962010E/cr2008sp3_fp31.exe]
- Service Pack 3 [incremental|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123572010E/cr2008_sp3.exe]
It is in all of the main code streams now so should not be an issue going forward unless new updates to are done to MAPI which is out of our control.

• MAPIResolveName on Windows 7 with Crystal 9

When I try to send a report via email, I get the message
"Error 2147500037 returned by function <MAPIResolveName>."
I'm using Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows 7. Is there a hotfix that resolves this problem?

It's kind of a hack but copy the Windows mapi dll from a Windows XP system and rename the one you have in your OS and then paste in the older one. No guarantee's or anything else from SAP, it's just a way around Microsoft changes to Mapi and their deprecation of the simple MAPI API's to the entended API set for Windows 7 and above.
We have not tested this so I don't know what affect it's going to have on Outlook and you are on your own if it breaks or corrupts anything. SAP takes no responsibility for any ill effects. Only other option is to get the software guys to upgrade to CR XI R2, it is free. They'll have to rebuild and redistribute their application though.
And patch it to Fix Pack 6.4.
Good luck

• Using windows vista with two users and I can only open books with adobe digital editions on one account?

using windows vista with two users and I can only open books with adobe digital edition

You must authorize the second computer with the same Adobe ID.
There are sometimes issues with this registration: if you have them ....
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.

• Is Voyager included with Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1?

Hi all,
Is Voyager included with Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1?
Regards,

Hi
the CRS licensing model does not support Voyager. You may want to consider installing BO Edge or BO Enterprise for this. I would recommend to contact your local SAP sales office to get more information on this.

• When I open up Firefox I get 2 windows one with my tabs and the other is ad on manager how do I stop the second window if I try to close it both windows clos

This problem just started when I start up Mozilla fire fox it opens 2 sessions or something the first one has my tabs form the previous session the other one is blank except for the 2nd window only has add on information, but when I try to close the second window it automatically closes the whole thing and I have to start all over again, what can I do

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

• Problem with Crystal XI and Pervasive (Btrieve)

Post Author: mdcampbell85
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
Hi!
I am experiencing a problem with Crystal XI. Crystal XI Reports will fail, if more than two tables are joined in the query. If only 2 tables are joined, the reports will not fail. These same reports work correctly in crystal 10. And the reports work on sql server. The software I am working with uses a DSN to connect when executing crystal reports. I am using crystal 11 with service pack 3. I might try to see if there are any updates for the ODBC, but I have not tried that yet. I also might try to install a more up to date version of Pervasive. I am currently using 9.10.020.000 of Pervasive.SQL.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
If you are not experiencing this problem, do you have a value stored in registry key \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crystal Decisions\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\Database\QueryBuilder\JoinBuilder\StarEqualJoinBuilder? If you do, what is the value?
Thank You!

In case anyone is interested, below is how I solved the problem:
I added a new string value named StarEqualJoinBuilder to the registry. I added StarEqualJoinBuilder to the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\Database\QueryBuilder\JoinBuilder
I set the value of StarEqualJoinBuilder equal to evbtr13

• Need Help with Crystal viewer and ActiveX

Hi !!
I have a problem that i cant seem to be able to solve. I had alot of help from the forum but i think i got everything mixtup now...
From my addon i can print with CrystalReport Viewer or i cant print a Crystal report directly to my default printer, so thats good and working well. The problem is with Crystal Viewer that drags on the SBO screen and stays on the task bar.
It is strongly recommended to use an Activex to display my Crystal Viewer report. I tried so many differrent ways allways ending up with class id errors, or private class errors.
My report is called c:\report.rpt
My Working CrystalViewer form is called 'frmCRV'
Can some one help me thru this last step... I tried with the Activex sample in SDK but i think i dont have to use the Tree function ??? am i right ??
I'm running on SBO 2005 SP1 PL3
Crystal Report .net V10 and .net for code.
Thanks you all for your patience.

Hi Again !
I can now open a form with an Activex part but i cant pass my CrystalViewer in it. Always says specified cast not valid.
Thanks

• Issue with Crystal 11 and Activex Viewer

Hi All,
We have been using Crystal Enterprise 10 for long without any issues, Recently we had to move to Crystal 11 as our clients are not able to buy Crystal 10 any more.
The crystal Report is run from our product using the activex viewer .The Report is invoked by passing
the url in the following manner
'/CSM/reports/Crystal//Case%20Solution%20Time.rpt?init=actx&USER0=sa&PASSWORD0='
This worked perfectly with Crystal 10.
But when trying to run the report with Crystal 11 it opens a file download box and then opens up the report in design time in Crystal Reports itself and not in the browser.
I am not sure if this is a know problem or if things have changed (parameters etc.). I need to get this problem sorted asap. Any info on it is highly appreciated.

Prachi

Hi,
In new versions of BOE you should be using a URL command called OpenDocument or alternatively Viewrpt.aspx/.jsp.

When I single click on a weblink (usually in an email, Firefox starts up and opens two windows; one with the selected web page and one with my home page. Hi,
The rolling over from radius servers only occurs on the same wlan and only when the controller deems the radius server being dead. However, if you get rejected from one WLAN but then you reassociate to another WLAN there is no mechanism in place in rejecting the attempt because they previously failed on a seperate wlan. This happens all the time with users connecting on incorrect wlans.
The failover feature is for when you have multiple servers (usually for redundancy) on the same WLAN. So when user is rejected but radius server 1 the process stops there and the request isnt sent to radius server 2.
Hope that helps!

• SQL Server 2012 DB Engine does not start (clean install with server 2012 and 2008 R2)

I'm trying to do clean installation of SQL server 2012 on Server 2012 (which is runnning as a VM on ESX server) and getting this "wait on the DB engine recovery failed" message. Initially, I though this issue was related to some permission issues
but changing the permission or service accounts didn't help. I'm not seeing any "denied" messages in the log files either. Even with Server 2008 R2 (clean built VM), the installation gives the exactly the same error messages.
My setup is purely for test purpose; so, the security is not a concern. Can someone help or give me a clue where to look?

Hi Nababoya:
As you are telling this is a test installation process...
In the logs i m seeing the error message "An error occurred while processing the log for database 'model'. If possible, restore from backup. If a backup is not available, it might be necessary to rebuild the log.".
1) If the SQL Services was installed successfully and SQL Service was not able to start because of model database issue...
1.1) If you have model database SQL back file, start the SQL Server in single user mode with minimum configuration and try to restore MODEL database
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlserverfaq/archive/2011/05/11/inf-hey-my-sql-server-service-is-not-starting-what-do-i-do.aspx
1.2) If you don't have backups., try to rebuild the system databases but make sure that you are not losing any data critical data on master and SQL Jobs on MSDB
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd207003%28v=sql.110%29.aspx#RebuildProcedure
2) As if this is a new installation try to repair the instance with the help of setup media file
3) If the repair option fails., the last option wipe out the complete SQL Server components from Services.msc and Registries and start new installation.
4) Make sure when you are doing un-installation all the required SQL Server components on services.msc should be in stop state.
Hope this helps and let me know any questions...
Thanks,
Thanks, Satish Kumar. Please mark as this post as answered if my anser helps you to resolves your issue :)

• Problems with Crystal reports server 2008 VI (Invalid logon information)

I have added a report that connects to the SQL server and also I set up the required ODBC for the report on the server. I could run the report without any issues.
When I add the same report to another folder in CMC or add a new report that uses the same connection, and try to run it, I get the following error.
I did set location and verify database in Crystal designer many times and added the report into CMC, but still it gives me the error.
However the first report that I added still works fine. For some reports it shows the parameter screen and when I enter them and click OK it gives the same error. I checked the logon information and they are correct. Reports work fine in Crystal designer. When I added the report, in the database configuration I selected "Use original database logon information from the report." and entered the SQL user id and password.
error message:
"The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect"
I then went back to the database configuration and selected "Use custom database logon information specified here." and entered the ODBC connection info.
With this when I run the report it takes a little longer and again asks me to enter the user id and password, even though I selected "Use same database logon as when report is run" option. Still when I enter the user id and password and click ok it keeps on prompting the same. I kept on entering it for 20 times, still it kept on prompting for the same. I am not sure how to make this work.
The report that I am trying to run has an SQL command (that links with 10+ tables), views and some tables. It also got one dynamic parameter prompt.
Also when I select the item from dropdown box "Table Prefix" and save and come back to the database configuration the option I selected is blank. It seems like CMC is not saving this. I found out that this sometimes happens with the password too.
I have checked on SAP forum and could not find a solution for either of these problems yet.
I do have created a web site with CR developer 2008 that runs the same report and it works there without any issues.
Could any one help me with this?

I assume that you have built your reports with the CR Designer 2008 V1. Try to open the affected report in the CR Designer and select Database->VErify database and save it back into the repository. Does it work?
