Maps bugs

So Apple decided it would reinvent the wheel and push out your own Maps tool. Did you bother to check to see if it actually worked?
Try this: Go to http://maps.google.com and type UNCSA and hit enter (that's the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC).  Google shows 1533 S Main St Winston_Salem, NC 27127 which, BTW, is 100% accurate.  Now, if you do that in Apple's new mapping system on iOS6 on an iPad 2 you get 411 S Marshall St Winston-Salem!  Almost 1.5 miles away!  I really hope for Apple's sake you're not off by 1.5 miles on every destination!
Oh, and BTW, it says I can drag the pin to the right location but it won't let me drag the purple push pin anywhere, it just moves the map!  Seriously, did anyone at Apple even test this?  Hopefully Google will release their own App that actually knows where things are.
Finally, if you use Google Earth on the same iPad it ALSO finds UNCSA in the right place and if I use Navigation on my Droid RAZR it ALSO finds UNCSA in the right place.  Apple, looks like it's time for iOS 6.0.1.
PS.  iOS6 is out, you might just want to update the Operating System drop down box in your Support Communities to reflect the fact that iOS 6 is going to have issues reported.

Even better.  The more Apple owners who know that Apple's products are buggy perhaps more will skip them or demand better.  This is why, regardless of one's stance on Apple, we cannot allow Apple to continue to dominate the market.  Monopolies are bad.  Apple appears to want to sue everyone who challenges them only to release a buggy OS (seems like 5.0 had 5.0.1 and then 5.1 and then 5.1.1 almost back-to-back-to-back) and expects all its users to just sit back and live with bugs.  Even Yahoo Maps gets it right (though they list an off-campus facility first, the #2 listing is the correct address).  Apple Maps didn't even get the first one right!  BTW, Apple Maps doesn't get the phone # right either, but it did get the city and country right so I guess that's ok.
Perhaps someone here can tell me how to upgrade back to 5.1.1.  I did backup my iPad with iTunes 10.7, is that sufficient to restore it to 5.1.1 until Apple fixes their bugs?

Thats not where they are thats where Apple think they are, try coming out of Victoria walking straight across the road and you are in ?????   god knows where on apple but its not where you acually are, I have tried it and its total crap. By the way there are 2 Hammersmith underground stations. Your map just shows 1 pin
You explicity claimed that "all 400 stations are missing" in Apple Maps. I only needed to locate one to prove you wrong. Instead, I proved you doubly wrong. I didn't realize I needed to prove you triply-wrong. Oh well...
Naming subway stops is not Apple's responsibility and obviously not London's strenths. The pin shows the general location of "hammersmith".
Okay I am in Holloway road, where is the nearest station to me?, if I don't know the name I cant find the station.  I know there are 6 but Apple does not show any of them
When I enter "holloway road london", I get a bunch of pins and the first one that automatically gets selected is the subway station. Since that is one of "any of them", you have been proved wrong 4 times over.
Etre have you ever been out and used walking maps? I think you need specsavers
Do you actually own an iPhone? Are you aware it has GPS? Have you really ever actually tried it? Because when I manually nagivate to one end of Holloway road and search for "underground", I get this:
Strangely, if I go to the other end of the street and do the same thing, I get an entirely different station:
I wonder what would happen if I did a similar search for "underground" while zoomed in on the "hammersmith" pin?
Well what do you know? But how would I ever get there? Hmmm, you mentioned "walking maps". Maybe I should try walking directions from "hammersmith" to one of the underground stations.
By my count, I have proved your anti-Apple Maps misinformation to be wrong 6 times over. Wanna try for a lucky seven?

  • Wacom Tablet Mapping Bug Only in Photoshop

I am using a Graphire Wireless Wacom Tablet on a Windows 7 PC at work. I installed the most recent drivers, and it works flawlessly in a duel monitor setup, and I have no trouble mapping it however I would like.
This is all great until I launch Adobe Photoshop (CS4). Upon launch of the program there is some kind of bug, and suddenly the mapping acts as if both displays were squished into only the primary display. I can toggle between displays, and instead of toggling between display 1, 2, and both, it toggles between the left and right half of the screen and the whole screen. The other monitor is still functioning normally, only the mapping of the tablet is effected, and as soon as I close Photoshop, it reverts back to normal.
I did find one posting with the same problem, but it was resolved my installing the updated drivers, which I already have, and the discussion was closed. Any help I can get would be great.

Wacom has per-appliation settings, and somewhere you've changed the tablet mapping for Photoshop.
Photoshop does not know about the tablet mapping, only the Wacom driver knows about and controls the tablet mapping.
Check the Wacom control panel/preferences.  If you can't figure it out, contact Wacom technical support.

  • Has anyone noticed this V-Drums mapping bug in Drum Designer?

    Hi guys
There seems to be a bug in the v-drums mapping for Drum Designer... wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
On standard Roland V-Drums kits, the toms are mapped as follows:
    High tom: C2
    Low tom: A1
    Floor tom: G1
On some of the Drum designer kits, such as "Neo Soul" and "Retro Rock", the above tom mapping works correctly.
However, for other kits, such as "SoCal" and "Roots Kit", the low tom is played when either the low tom (A1) or the floor tom (G1) is played on the V-Drums kit.
It appears that for some reason, there are some kits such as the two mentioned above, that are mapped incorrectly so that the same low tom sound is played when the drummer is either hitting the low tom or the floor tom. I am using a standard Roland TD12 kit.
I've raised this as a bug using Apple's "Logic Feedback" page - hopefully they will check it out soon!
    Cheers,
    Mike

There are 2 work arounds for this situation.
    - edit the midi note sent by the module to set it to F1 (kit - inst - F4 - F5 - note number)
    - insert a midi transformer between your Roland module and the drummer track in logic's midi environnement window
The second option is more tricky but it opens up a whole word of other tranformations which are worth exploring.

  • UK Maps Bug?

I think I have found a bug in Maps but can't find a feedback form for the iPhone, can anyone post a link?
When I look at my contacts they are all tagged with United Kingdom as the country (even if I haven't specified that in my Address Book on the Mac). However, when I select a contact from the Maps screen they are all prefixed with United States and therefore the search for the address comes up blank. I have to manually edit out the United States text from the search bar and perform the search again. This is very annoying. I'd have expected the UK version to have been localised and any references like this to the USA to have been altered to the UK. Or perhaps the Maps application is ignoring the UK tag from Contacts?

If you go to your address book, you can change individual contacts to use the United Kingdom address format. You do this by:
    (1) turning on edits
    (2) clicking next to the address in the "home" or "work" field, for example
    (3) the bottom menu item lets you change to format to another country
Once I did that, it worked fine.
You can even change the format of all your existing address book entries to a particular country, AND, you can even change your template to create in a specific country format. Unfortunately, there is no way to have a downloaded V-card that is inserted into your address book to use that new default format. So each new contact must be manually changed.
Now the maps application works much better ... BUT ... I find that the UK maps often are very picky about finding addresses.
Even worse is, if I finally figure out the string to enter to find a particular address, if I then go bookmark that found address, the phone cannot later return to its own bookmark!! I am going to file a bug on that as soon as I figure out how to do it.

  • N95 Maps bugs

This is *almost* a usable satnav, but some points need fixing:
    - Charge via USB cable!
    - Need a menu option "navigate to this contact" from inside contacts
    - Maps navigate to contact fails because searches return no match, no default country, doesn't use postal code
    Anyone working on these?

bugs and all problems depends how often you droped phone on the ground
indeed theres plenty of improvements and bugs, just nokia experts can say this my friend.

  • N95 Maps - bug or fault on me???

I just got my N95 couple of days ago and I must say I just love it:-). I haven´t noticed any bugs or faults on the phone so far. It´s been working very nicely. But when I go to MAPS it sais: "Network usage disabled. You can enable it from application settings."
I have tried to change settings but I haven´t really found the right settings - I guess. I have been to applications but there isn´t anything to change that would fix my problem. Anyhow, I can start the Map- application although this sentence will pop up every time I will go there.
If someone could help me with this I would be really greatful.

    Hi,
If you open maps, get past that message and goto options>settings>network change the option in Network to "when needed"
Beware though of data transfer though, as depending on what you do or if you have a map already in your phone if will attempt to download maps, voices etc
Data transfer through the network in most cases means £££, unless you choose wlan...

  • Image Map Bug in Dreamweaver CS4

I've included a video sample of Dreamweaver's inability to
draw polygonal hotspots in Design view on an image map. The image
is inside an absolutely positioned div tag. After clicking the
first corner, the drawing tool is deactivated. A second click to
create the next corner point selects the underlying image.
In this video sample, I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 on a MacBook
Pro with a 2.4 GHz Intel processor and OS X 10.5.6. The image is
actually a transparent PNG. I'm very careful to click on an opaque
area, but that shouldn't make a difference.
The workaround is to open the image in a blank HTML file,
create the polygonal hotspots there and then copy and paste the
code back into the original HTML page. Adobe should really consider
    fixing this.

  • Cant find a fix for 3gs maps bug. Any ideas?

    Hi
I have been searching for a fix for the maps app on my 3gs 16gb
It was fine until I updated to os4
Now it puts me a long way off and wont follow me on a journey.
I've looked at loads of forums and found plenty of users with the same problem but no solution.
Any clever people out there with a solution for me or do I need a new phone?
    Thanks

  • E75 - Maps - BUG REPORT - Contact Search by Compan...

Finally, a Nokia Business Phone allows direct search from Contacts by typing the Company name, thanks for that.
However, when I tried to use Maps to navigate to a client company, it turned impossible to find the destination by entering the company name.

    thats odd
i just went to maps (im on 1.1.3) typed part of the name of one of my contacts it showed me a match - i clicked it and it mappped it fine
i then went to contacts- picked one - clicked on an address - and again it mapped it fine
just like it did when i was on 1.1.2

  • IOS6 Maps bugs

I won't be upgrading my iPhone to iOS6 for a while.  I tried the new Maps on my iPad, and since I need good navigation on my phone, I'm sticking with the old one.  Two killer issues:
    1) There's no longer any traffic support in New Orleans.  It does show construction, which is a nice new feature, but the red/yellow/green highway speeds are gone.
    2) The search database isn't sufficient. One example, I did a search for "NOCCA", the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, where I'm seeing a play tonight.  The pin dropped in Italy.  That's a bit farther than I want to drive.  Maps5 with the Google data gets it right.

    Okay, thanks for your input.
I was thinking of doing something along those lines. Although, I wouldn't want to wait too long for the next maintenance update. Any ideas as to when it'll be realeased?
    Again, thanks for your help.

  • Aperture Keyboard Mapping Bug

    Related Forum Post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2781383&tstart=0
    Mac OS: 10.6.6
    Aperture: 3.1.1
    Current on all updates.
I used the Aperture keyboard mapping tool to map 4 brushes, Retouch, Sharpen, Tint, Skin Smoother. Only two of these buttons actually work when mapped Tint & Skin Smoother. The other two Retouch and Sharpen appear to activate in the adjustments menu list, but don't actually become the active brush window. I have tested this using keys on my keyboard as well as buttons on my tablet, I have unplugged my tablet in case that itself was causing the issue. I have also tried using an external keyboard with the same affect.
To help show/explain this better I created a video for it.

  • After installing maps bug

I have the latest ovi suite with windows 7.
After installing the above file for nokia e66 and hit the maps tab in ovi suite or any other tab nothing works.
    I have to restart it.

    Hi Headmaster,
To find the installed Maps and Navigation.
Connect your device to the Pc/Laptop
Open your OVi Suite, Goto --> View -> Go to -> Maps. On the left handside bottom you can find On your device, Below that select All. It will take a while to read your phone data. It will show you the Maps and the Voice Navigation installed in your device.
Please delete all your maps which ever already installed in your device by clicking on Delete All on your right hand side top.
Now you can download and install the maps and voice navigations once again one by one.
Before this please make sure your phone sotware and your maps application are upto date.
Hope This will resolve the issue.
