Mass change of Profit center in Cost collector

On FERT materials profit center was and i have created cost collectors for all fert materials.
How I can correct mass change of profit center on Cost collector.

You can use the MASS transaction code for changing of Profit Center for your FERT Materials.

Change of Profit Center in Cost Center

I'm trying to change Profit Center 2000 to 3000 in Cost Center Change Screen. We would like to effect the changes in the future from April 1, 2011.
An error message appears, Changing profit center from 1000 to 3000 is not permitted.
Someone please advise.

HI May be you are assigning profit center belongs to different company code, so then accounting will not be in proper so its giving that error search the profit center to that company code and assign and then save.

RE - Change profit center and cost center after LO activated

Hi ppl, One question. Is there any harm if we change the profit center and cost center of the business entity, building, rental unit only after the lease out has been activated?

No need to change the cost center, as you want to have valid from date as 01.10.2010.
Having profit center before that date is not an issue and does not have any negative impact.

Changes to Profit center assigned to cost center

We have a scnario in which the profit center assigned to the cost center master has to be changed. We have been advised also to change the validity period of the same from the date of change of the profit center .However, the cost center has been used to for some data postings with the old profit center maintained in the cost center master. Now my query is:
1. What is the impact of changing the profit center in cost center master? In our case, some data has been posted to the cost center when the old profit center was maintained.
2. Why should we change the validity period of the cost center after changing the profit center assigned to the cost center?
3. Also, what is the way to transfer the entries which have been posted to the old profit center to the new profit center?

hi,
1) The impact of profit center is more in the cost center. when ever we assign profit center to cost center. the cost will be updated automatically. so there is no direct posting in profit center only statstical posting are generated.
2) second one when we want to create profit center first chek it out profit center valid and upto. if same is not maintained in creation of cost center . so u must have to change the validity periods
3) i am not sure this one i thing 7KEH OR 1KEF TC is there any way tommorow i will give the answer this questions.

Mass change of profit centers in Product Cost Collectors

Gurus,
My client has a requirement of mass change of Profit Centers in Product Cost Collector (Transaction Code KKF6N). Is there any way of doing this using LSMW or anything else?
I had tried with LSMW Recording, but there is a particular production version associated to profit centers in KKF6N tranasction, because of this I couldnt go to particular production version and update the profit center.
So, Is there any easy way doing this?

Document change/display - Profit Center / Cost center name

Hi,
We have a requirement where client wants to display the profit center and cost center names (short or long) when displaying or changing a parked or a posted document. As we all know SAP shows only the profit center and cost center code and not the description during the document display. After all the deliberations, this seems to be an important piece of information while posting a parked document or even viewing it as a posted document.
What are our options?
Any help is much appreciated.

Profit center / cost center naming is following a different convention and we are in a roll out phase, therefore we can't think of first item.
About match code, the requirement is not so much during the posting but primarily while releasing the parked document or viewing the parked / posted document - they want to see the description along side profit / cost center.
I was looking for clues on any utilities / enhancements / BTE that I may use to bring extra fields during document display.

Change profit center - in cost center - IDOC error

HI Experts,
One of our users changed a profit center in a cost center in the middle of the month.
As our message control is switched on warning message only, he could save the cost center.
The problem occured by automatically created idocs which are creating internal orders for each of these cost centers. The idocs cannot be processed due to the error message:
You have changed the profit center from x to y. This is only allowed when the corresponding configuration was made in Customizing. Then this message is only a warning, which you can ignore.
I went to message control again and changed batch processing as well for W, only field "standard" (grey) I was not able to change.
We still get the some error message. Could anybody help how we could get rid of this problem and process the idocs?
Resetting the profit center in the cost center did not help.
Creating a new analysis period in the cost center did not help either...

Cost center change of Profit Center

Hi,
We wish to change the profit center of a cost center. I know that all postings going forward will use the new profit center and any historical postings to the cost center will remain on the old profit center.
However is there a way to move all the historical postings to that cost center to the new profit center.
I have looked into 9KEO for this and wondering if there is a program already written that does this automatically without working out what values posted to individual account numbers and years etc.

Hi Shalini,
When you try to change the profit center in the cost center master data, the system will issue warning message KS149, but will allow you to make the change.

If the profit center in the cost center master record were now changed to B and the costs then distributed to other cost centers, the currently assigned profit center - that is, profit center B - would be credited. Profit center A, however, would still have a debit posting.
System Response
The action is terminated.
Procedure
If you want the change in profit center to be possible, you can convert this error message into a warning message. You do this in the IMG activity Change Message Control (work area FAGL_ORG_UNITS, message number 011). In this case, however, you need to examine the possible effects that the change in profit center would have on the relevant balance sheet in FI.

dear All,
we need to change the profit center but the system is not letting because the is stock.
i was thinking if we issue this stock on any cost center, change the profit center and then cancel the issuing material document ...
what do you think ,,,, would this effect the accounting badly ?? if so,, please recommend other ways

ever thought about how the posting are made in the other modules then? We dont live on an MM island, so a solution has to cover the requirements of the connected modules as well.
if you had received stock to a material with profit center A, then value is posted to profit center A.
if you change the profit center in material master to B while you have stock, the value of earlier receipts will not move from profit center A to B, they stay at A.
The next goods issue for this material is made against the profit center B.
this results in having a postive value at profit center A (which will never go away) and having a negative value at profit center B (because you had never received to profit center B what you just issued)
Because of this you should not change the message settings.

you cannot issue anything in the prior period if everything is already issued in the current period.
One should obtain the quantityof previous period in material master accounting view.
Finally you have to have zero stock in current and previous period before changing profit center.
How you approach this is based on the fact if the current period stock is bigger or smaller than the previous period stock.
if current period stock is bigger, then issue previous period stock with previous peiod date, and issue remaining stock in current period.
if current period stock is smaller than previous period stock, then you have to write on the delta in the current period, and subsequent issue the total stock in the previous period.

Goods issue to cost center or goods movement 309 to a dummy material will both affect accounting and create accounting documents.
of course, if everything works well then you will get accounting documents with opposite value after you have changed the profit center and you write on the quantity again.

Incorrect Profit Center in Cost Center Master

An incorrect Profit Center was updated in the cost center master and later more than 500 documents have been posted to the wrong Profit Center.
Now we need to change the Profit Center in the Cost Center master to the correct one. Also, the already posted documents needs to be revised with the correct Profit center.
Is there a way to do this?

So in my present case, would u suggest me to do the following (Iam giving you an example below):
I had posted salary to the Cost Center (CC) - 1000 (Admin Bangalore) linked to Profit Center 'PCA'
The Entry was:
Dr Salary GL Rs.10,000 (CC 1000)(PCA)
Cr Salary Payable Rs.10,000 (CC 1000)(PCA)
But PC attached to CC is incorrect and I need to change it. Therefore,
1) Do I have to first reverse the above document in FI,
2) Then, change the PC in the CC master to the correct one, and then finally,
3) Repost the entries to the CC (which will then pick up the correct PC).
I have more than 100 such entries to reverse. And ofcourse, I would not repost the same in PCA module again.
Or is there any other wise and quick way to do it.

Profit center in Cost center master data

dear sap expert,
I have cost center (1100) with validity period 01.07.2010 to 31.12.9999.
and a profit center (1000) with validity period 01.07.2010 to 31.12.9999.
User want to extend the cost center from 19.08.1982.
First, I change the validity period of the profit center so it became 19.08.1982 to 31.12.9999 .
But when I create cost center 1100 again (KS01) with different period which is : 19.08.1982 to 30.06.2010, system give an error message " Changing profit center from to 1000 is not permitted " when I fill up profit center field (which is 1000).
Can you help how do I deal with this error?
