Mass Maintainanace for UOM Conversion

Hi,
How to do the mass maintainanace of UOM conversion in Basic data1 view> Additional Data> UOM? In MM17, MEINH is not there. Please convey.

Hi:Please follow below steps:
1) Go to MM17, then select table marm,then execute
2) Then you will be able to see two tabs named"data records to be changed and data records to be created"
3) check selection box "Do not change existing data"
4) To populate materail which needs to be mass maintained UOM, then click "data records to be created" tab
5) In "Specify values for the reference" area, you need to fill in material and UOM which will be refered from e.g kg(suppose kg had been maintained)
6) To input material and UOM which needs to be mass maintained in area "specify data records to be created" e.g PC
7) Execute and save.

Hi Experts,
I need to find the function module, requirement is i have to pass two unit of measure for a meaterial like
ex. In UOM = BOX, Out UOM = EA result would be like 10EA's. and In UOM = TON, Out UOM = KG resuld would be like 1000KG and i will pass material number also, can any one tell me the standard FM to suits my requirement.

UOM conversion not big enough

Hey All,
I have a strange requirement. The numerator field UMREZ for UOM conversion is of 5 digits, which means the max value can be 99999. We have a need to do a Alterante UOM conversion which is greater than 5 digits.
Example: 1 PAL = 200000 EA.
How do I acheive this?
We are looking into all possible options.
First is thru config to create an intermediate UOM so that we can do two UOM conversions and acheive our result, but this is also going to be a big change.
Is there any other option through code to increase the length of this field, or any other alternative.
I tried searching and looking for OSS notes, but no luck.
Any input is highly appreciated.

Thank you for your replies. For a moment I thought this might be an option, but the problem here is not that the quantity is too large. but that the conversion factor is too large.
Let me explain again.
I have one unit which has the following conversion.
1 Pallet = 3000000 Eaches.
Numerator = 3000000 "here is the problem, numerator field is only 5 digits
Denominator = 1
which means if i get say even 100 pallets as input it have to convert
100 X 3000000/1 = 300000000. "the problem is UMREZ (3000000) is too big for that field
So here i cannot use any preconversion or post conversion.
BUT if i do think in the same line i can try to use a multiplication factor for that particlar unit of measure which i can just multiply at the end. I can maybe look to incorporate this in an enhancement when the UOM conversion is done. But I still have to figure out how to display it in the material master. Let me investigate more into this option.
Any other suggestion as welcome.

UoM Conversion in Update Rule -

Dear Experts,
We are trying to do UoM Conversion during data loading by writing a code in Update Rules that would do conversion based on conversion factors maintained in 0MAT_UNIT. We are following the "How-To" paper by SAP.
The SAP "How-To" paper does not refer to Table T006 for UoM Conversions. It checks for conversion factor only in 0MAT_UNIT master data. However when we define a new UoM Conversion type in T-code RSUOM, we can select an option by which system refers to Table T006 for conversion.
I am not sure if there would be consistency in conversions at the time of data loading and reporting. Because our update rules would not check Table T006 while reports might refer to T006 for UoM Conversion.
Can someone please fill up the gap?

Mass deletion of alternative UOM conversion

Does anybody knows is there an easy way for mass-deletion of alternative unit of measure conversion rules in material master?

I did the following way:
1. created a recording which always deletes the second line in Additional data-> uom conversions.
2. by multiply running this recording via lsmw will delete all uoms.
3. I was not able to do it at once as different materials has different numbers of alternative uom entered.

How to use own UOM conversion for PO creation...

Hello Experts,
We have a requirement wherein we need to use our OWN UOM conversion(UMREN and UMREZ)
instead of getting it in the inforecord or the material master. Currently we are using BAPI
BAPI_PO_CREATE1 to create PO.
Is there anything that I can do to make the PO creation bypass the inforecord and
the material master UOM conversion. For example in ECC we have 1 CV = 10 EA. We want it to be 1 CV = 15 EA.

The UOM conversion is maintained in the SPRO.
But for costing the unit is maintain in Activity say POWER as unit H
But in the production they maintain the receipe activity unit for POWER as unit MIN.
So when you upload the KP06 & KP26 with activity qty,the activity qty should maintain in H.
So when you have the cost run in CK11 then the system will capture automatically for the per ton production the consumption of power activity in MIN.
So if you want to know the what is conversion factor then it is standard UOM definition in SPRO.

UOM Conversion changes where conversion is only used for reporting

I think this is a different situation than I've seen in other posts.
We have a UOM conversion from CS to POUND (i.e. 1 case = 30 pounds), and at some point may want to change it so that 1 case = 28 pounds. In our situation, all transactions are done at the CS (primary UOM) and the weight is only used in calculations to print on shipping documents. Is there any harm in just changing the 30 to 28 when that time comes? Again, there are no transactions that reference the weight, no PO's, no SO's, no financials, etc.
We also have a similar situation where a PALLET may contain 100 cases now, but in the future be reconfigured to contain 90 cases. Same idea, nothing is transacted in Pallets, and the conversion is only used in reporting. Seems like it would be OK to change that conversion without causing problems. Any thoughts?

I think this is low risk - just make absolutely sure that the uom was not used for customer pricing, internal pricing, boms, on ASL, on price breaks, on quotes, on POs, on material transactions, wip moves etc.
As long as it was truly used just for reporting, you should be ok.

Where to Configure the Price for the UoM Conversion

I have a requirment from my client here that he wants to change the UoM of the material at the billin document level. The UoM can be changed but I realized once it is changed the price has gone all wrong. Where can I configure the price for the UoM conversion because I cannot find it anywhere in SD itself.

I am trying to maintain the same material with different UoM but when I do so it says that the current condition is being processed at the current session. I guessed it meant that the conditiont record for that material type already exists?
How do I rectify this problem because when I enter the new line of material with the new UoM disappears.

Conversion change for UOM in PO

Dear All,
There are some PO which are posted dated 14.07.2010 for which the uom conversion is 3 pcs <=> to 1 CSE as what is set in the material master for that material selected in PO. But for the same material for which PO posted after 29.03.2010, UOM conversion for the PO is changed to 12 pcs <=> 1 cse but conversion in material master is same as 3 pcs <=> to 1 CSE. but only in PO it is dislaying as 12 instaed as 3 pcs.
Also there was some scheduled Transport window on 14.07.2010 which could have make some changes.
Kindly help where could and how could we trace the issue or its technical issue.

As per the analysis, the PO is created from PR and not from Contract. Also for the PO created on 14.07.2009 and PO created on 22.06.2010 has the same inforecord and has the same conversion factor as in material master set i.e. 1cse = 3 pcs but in PO dated 22.06.2010 its diplaying it as 1 cse = 12 pcs.

UOM Conversion for Catalogs

We are on Global Catalog Implementation.For a global catalog, we have US users, for certain items there UOM is gallons, for the same items, the european users want in liters
can we do the UOM conversion with the OCI Interface BADI BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER
Is this the correct BADI.we have other option like creating again a seperate catalog for certain set of users.
Which is Best Pratice.

You can use the BADI <b>/CCM/CHAR_VALUATION</b> to create, change, or delete the values assigned to catalog characteristics before they are written to the database, or after they have been read from the database. You can modify both static characteristics and customer-specific characteristics.

UOM Conversion? Which fields I hv to use for UOM value in Order, Delivery?

Pls. clarify some of my doubts, reg. UOM
1- In our system, 1 Box = 6 EA(CH)
So, I need to compare Order, Delivery, PGI quatities for some report purpose.......So, Is there any SAP Function Module, that I can use for CONVERSION?
Scenario: actually, am looking to convert quatities......i mean, if Order UOM is BX of qty 1.........where as the delivery UOM is EA of quatity 6..........so, both r same and varinace is 0.
2 - Wht is the field I hv to use for UOMs in Order, Delivery, PGI/Material doc?

You can use the function CF_UT_UNIT_CONVERSION to UOM conversion.
    call function 'CF_UT_UNIT_CONVERSION'
         exporting
              matnr_imp     = itab_pot-matnr
              unit_new_imp = ztb_vend_min-min_uom
              unit_old_imp = itab_pot-meins
              value_old_imp = w_conv_qty
         importing
              value_new_exp = w_conv_qty.

UOM Conversion to be used in transformation

Hi Experts,
I am trying to make use of the BI 7.0 UOM conversion feature in one of our InfoCubes where the source quantity which is in Base UOM needs to be converted to cases.
I went through all the steps which are as follows:
1. I have 0BASE_UOM as the base unit of measure for 0MATERIAL
2. A DSO was automatically generated with the name Z_OUOM I gave in 0MATERIAL configuration
3. I created a transformation for this DSO with source as 0MAT_UNIT
4. Created a DTP and loaded the DSO
5. Created a Conversion type with settings 'Dynamic Determination of conversion factor as Using Reference InfoObject = 0MATERIAL
Source Unit of Measure: Unit of Measure from Data Records
6. Target Unit of Measure: Fixed Unit of Measure = 'CS'.
In InfoCube transformation I have the following mapping:
Rule type: Direct Assignment
Target Unit: 0UNIT
Unit: From Conversion
Conversion Type: ZCASES
Source Unit: 0BASE_UOM
Source Fields of Rule:
0MATERIAL
0REQ_QTY
0BASE_UOM
Target Fields of Rule:
ZREQ_QTY
0UNIT
When I load the InfoCube, the quantities are indeed getting converted to cases provided there are conversion factors available for that material in the UOM generated DSO
Here is my question: How can I handle records where the material does not have conversion factors in the UOM generated DSO?
I get an error when loading using a DTP as 'No quantity conversion possible'. There is one record in the source DSO that has a material number with no unit conversions in UOM generated DSO
I am aware there is an option of using routine, but I do not want to use it unless I am sure this method won't work

There is no way you can check if UOM is present or not in UOM DSO and then do the conversion via using conversion type.
What you can do is write the routine rather than conversion type, to fetch the data from the UOM DSO.
If conversion factor exist then you can convert it simple by multiplying with the value, if not then you can easily skip the record by putting IF condition.
IF factor <> 0.
ENDIF.

As of SAP NetWeaver 2004s you can create quantity conversion types using transaction RSUOM.
The business transaction rules of the conversion are established in the quantity conversion type. The conversion type is a combination of different parameters (conversion factors, source and target units of measure) that determine how the

In terms of functionality, quantity conversion is structured similarly to currency translation.

It is entered in ODS table linked to info object (0material)
What you need to do basically is-
1 ) Goto your infoobject for eg- 0material
2 ) In Info object Maintenance- Tab page- Bex Explorer
3 ) Enter 0BASE_UOM in Base unit of measure
4 ) Generate UOM ODS (System generates it with prefix UOM)
It is made of 4 fields (1 more in case of compounding) with SID for them. This is the place where you enter numerator and
denominator to calculate conversion factor
5 ) Load the UOM ODS with conversion from 0MAT_UNIT_ATTR or flat file
6 ) Define conversion type
7 ) In the conversion type, then you can select 0Material in the dynamic determination of conversion factor
8 ) Select source unit and target unit
