Hello Gurus,
in our bw syetem , for process chains for loading master infoobjects, all include "u201C master data deletion for requisition" ABAP
process except for one process chain. my question is:
why that process chain for master data loading is different from others as for lacking "master data deletion for requisition" in it?
so it does not matter if you include " master data deletion for requisition" ABAP process in process chain for master data loading ?

Hi,
ABAP Process means some ABAP program is being executed in this particular step.
It's possible that for all of your process chains except for that one requirement was to do some ABAP program processing.
You can check which program is executed by following below process:
Open your process chain in planning view -> Double click on that particular ABAP process -> Here you can see program name as well as program variant.

I have a requirement to change the date format for some of the date columns to dd-mon-yyy for only a particular subject area. Is there a feature available in the RPD which can help me do this?
In Answers - Column Properties for a Particular column of a report, we can save the style and formatting as system wide default for the particular column or the data type, but that applies across subject areas.
I tried with the config files too , but that too applies to all suject areas.

Why don't you create 2 logical column derived from same date physical col and then change the format for one logical column and use it in Subject Area ?

Data Error in the Query/Report after selective data deletion for infocube

Hi Experts,
Please advise what i was missing and what went wrong...
I got a Query (Forecast) on a Multicube...which is based on 2 Infocubes with Aggregates...
As i identified some data discrepency..yesteraday i performed selective data deleation on one of the Infocube
and executed report yesteraday and the results in the query are correct...
When today i executed the same report i am getting different results..
When i compared the results of the report with that of data in cube they are not matching
The report is not displaying the data in cube..for some rows it is displaying the data in the cube but for some rows it is just displaying same as the above row
there is no data loaded into info cube after selective deleation
Do i need to perform request compression and fill the aggregated after selective deleation
Please advise what went wrong

No i haven't done anything on aggregates before or after selective delete
As there is not data load after the selective delete according to SAP Manual we don't need to perform any thing on aggregates...as selective data deletion on cube will delete data from aggregates as well

Data integrator for HP-UX missing data quality and data profiling

I have installed ODI 10.1.3.40.0 from odi_unix_generic_10.1.3.4.0.zip in HP unix 11.23.
Data quality and data profiling is missing in that zip ? Could anyone please help me how to get installer of data quality and data profiling for Oracle data integrator in HP UX 11.23.

The integrated packaged( ODi, data quality and data profiling) for HP-UX wount available till 10.1.3.5.0 which will be released by this year end.

EasyDMS - search by date range for characteristics of type date

Hi Folks,
I have a characteristic of type date in the additional data of a DMS document. If I enter the date (for example validity date) as 08/31/2009 and search using cv04n and give a date range for the characteristic (i.e. 01/01/2009 - 12/31/2009), the search result will bring up the document.
However, I cannot do this from the EasyDMS find function. I need to specify an exact date. This is not very helpful for user who need to find documents with a validity date between 01/01/2009 - 12/31/2009 for example. Is there a way users can search for date range in EasyDMS find function?

To search a date range with EasyDMS Client you have to set the registry key
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\EasyDms\Generel\DateSearchPick to Value 0
Then you can use the input field like in SAP-Gui. (01.01.2009-31.01.2009)
If you set the value to 1 or the key is not defined you can only search for one specified date.
If you don't find this key on your PC create it as dword.
Maybe you must restart you PC for takeing effect.

HT203521 Note field data deleted for all calendar events

All information at Note Field in calendar events as deleted. All remain information is there.
Is there any issue at iCloud? How can I get back this information?

I do have a backup which is the only way I was able to get the events to come back (other than the 2nd time it happened when they magically reappeared on their own after a few minutes). Once I restored from the backup, I then reset the sync data and overwrote the local contents with the contents from MobileMe to make sure everything was current. I considered downgrading but I think I'll tough it out for now and just keep making backups. I noticed that iCal is spitting out a bunch of messages to the system console, so this should help me dig deeper into the problem if it happens again.

How to optimize DELETE for large number of data?

I am creating a DELETE sql for deleting large amount of data, approximately a million records. When I tested it, it got a lot amount of execution time. Is there a way how can I optimize this query?

In a nutshell: You can create a partitioned table with the same layout (using e.g. a RANGE partitioning with a single default partition), insert the remaining data into that table and swap the two segments using ALTER TABLE EXCHANGE PARTITION.
This allows you to load the data into the partitioned table using all means available to you, e.g. direct-path parallel insert with nologging attribute of the table to make it as fast as possible, rebuilding/creating any indexes in bulk after the load completed.
Furthermore, at least seamless read-access to the table is possible while you're performing this operation, and you don't have to deal with renaming/granting etc. which you would need to do with a traditional CTAS approach.
Of course, if the table needs to be online for DML while performing the DELETE you can't use these options.

How to view data for MD05 before current date

Hi SAP Gurus!
We need to check what we entered for the past weeks forecasts. We currently use MD05 to view that.
Right now, we are currently in week 47 now and would like to view data for weeks 40-46. For some reason SAP is only giving us week 47 onwards. Is there another report that can give us these values?

MD05 Details - BAPI_MATERIAL_MRP_LIST
or you may pls execute transaction MD73.
Pls select option "3 :History Planned ind reqmnts " in the display options and execute the report.

Do not Extract from PSA but Access Data Source (for Small Amounts of Data)

Hi Experts,
In the DTP, the above option is available for Full Loads for certain extractors but not for others, particularly, certain HR extractors?
Is there a way to make it available for HR extractors? Is there a setting that needs to be updated in ECC or in BI?

There is no special setting for this, Please see the detail description:
Data is not extracted from the PSA for the DataSource; it is requested from the data source directly at DTP runtime.
Use
You use this mode for small data sets and full uploads, for example, small sets of master data. With file source systems, note that the file has to be available on the application server.
Dependencies
You do not have to create an InfoPackage in order to extract data from the source.
Data in the data source is accessed in "direct access mode". This has certain consequences, especially if you are extracting data from SAPI systems:
Data is extracted synchronously. This places a particular demand on the main memory, especially in remote systems.
The SAPI extractors may respond differently than during asynchronous load since they receive information by direct access.
SAPI customer enhancements are not processed. Fields that have been added using the append technology of the DataSource remain empty. The exits RSAP0001, exit_saplrsap_001, exit_saplrsap_002, exit_saplrsap_004 do not run.
If errors occur during processing in BI, you have to extract the data again since the PSA is not available as a buffer. This means that deltas are not possible.
In the DTP, the filter only contains fields that the DataSource allows as selection fields. With an intermediary PSA, you can filter in the DTP by any field.

How can I validate that start date occors on or before end date?

I am using jDev 11.1.1.6.0
I have a effectiveStartDate and and an effectiveEndDate and I want to validate that if both dates are specified, that the effectiveEndDate occurs on or after the effectiveStartDate.
I have added validators in my backing bean as shown below, but there is still a problem
Consider the following scenario:
1) set effectiveStartDate to 1/1/2011
2) set effectiveEndDate to 1/1/2010
I get the validation, as expected. Now
3) I change effectiveStartDate to 1/1/2010, but the validation message remains on effectiveEndDate because I did not update the effectiveEndDate.
Can I remove the faces message somehow?
Can I re-trigger the validation?

Although not ideal, I have worked around the problem. I'd prefer an approach that would retain the error messages on the component, but here is the best I could come up with. I changed the start and end date validators so that they do not throw a ValidatorException but rather add a faces error message that is not tied to any component. This causes the validation message to appear as a popup when changing the start or end date in such a way as to violate the constraint. Unfortunately, the message disappears when you click the ok button.

What is the best type of data structure for this type of data?

Animal --> (List of types like Mammal, Reptile, etc)
Mammal --> (List of families)
Etc.
So basically there is a key then a list of other keys with more items.
At first I thought a Map<String, Map<String, Map<String,...etc but the number is unknown so I'm not sure how to structure it.

Need Solution/Workaround for Note 947081: SG dates in MMDDYYYY

We are implementing ESS for Singapore. Dates are being shown in MMDDYYYY format - we need DD.MM.YYYY, which is the Singapore standard.
Our large user base all have language EN, country SG.
With reference to Note 947081, dated 07.09.2006, I'd like to enquire if there is a solution or workaround to the limitation given in the Note:
"Known Limitations
10. Calendar date formatting for Singapore
The calendar date formatting for the locale "en_SG" Singapore is MM/DD/YYYY similar to the US American date format.
This is a feature of the SUN Java JVM. It is not possible, by means of
SAP NetWeaver, to change this behaviour."
SAP informs us there is no update from them overcoming this problem.
Changing the user master for the entire user base is not feasible.
System details: We are running on Unix Server, Java from IBM.
Inconsistencies: Any MESSAGES containing dates from R/3 come in DD.MM.YYYY

Hi Experts,
I am facing issue in DTP screen. I dont see File extraction selection path in DTP screen.
My requirement is to load the csv file directly into DSO. Here I dont use PSA /Infopackage. I want to do this by DTP selection. But in DTP selection I dont see File extraction options.
In DTP screen I dont see Check Box which says " Donot extract from PSA. Access datasource directly (for small amts of data) "
Last week we have upgrade/applied support packs. So I am assuming that is this issue occured due to upgrade activity or it is something other way which iam missing.

What is the location of your CSV file? Your Local machine or Application server ?
I believe it has to be application server to have this settings.
If you think this problem got created due to upgrade , you can try to create a FULL DTP for any of the master data/text DataSource and check if the option is coming there. If yes, then upgrade did not create any problem and you are sure this is a settings problem.

Missing data packages for PSA Table in sap netweaver 2004s

When we tryed to load the master data 0customer we have got the message
"Information Idoc: Sent, but did not arrive:
Missing data packages for PSA Table
Diagnosis
Data packets are missing from PSA Table . BI processing does not return any errors. The data transport from the source system to BI was probably incorrect.
We couldn't find any entries in source system.We have checked the tablespaces and authorizations.Its looks good.
WE have replicated and tryed again.But still getting the same error message.
we have SAP_BASIS
Release 700,level 0008, Highest SAPKB70008 basis component.
pls help us with the solution.

1) goto BD87 Tcode... take ur Idoc number and check the status of the idoc if it is 64 .. just process it manually ....
2) go to the TRFC in Datawarehouse and execute the LUWs manually ..
