Master Data is loadable in DSO with Delta Update?

Hi!
1) It is possible to load data from Master Data Datasource to a DSO in DELTA MODE and after (always in DELTA MODE) into an InfoObject?
In other words:
Datasource for Master Data (SAP ECC) --> DSO (SAP BI) --> InfoObject (SAP BI) [ALL IN DELTA MODE]
****I have doubt about the load of record with the same key in master data during activation***
2) It is possible also to use a DSO Write Optomized?

yes it is possible to load to DSO and than to a IO. and regarding the mastrerdata with same key, it woudl be overwritten in both the ODS and IO.
2) It is possible also to use a DSO Write Optomized?
It is possible but the whole purpose iof delta is defeated as the write optimised wouldnt have a change log table, and is as good as a full load every time.

Reporting on Alternate Hierarchy master data (HR-BW) thru DSO object

I have a quick question. I would appreciate if you know of any direction to approach this.
We have a hierarchy in a external system that we want to bring into BW as alternate hierarchies. The hier nodes are a bunch of leagacy hierarchies and the leaves will be 0COSTCENTER (R/3 values). After loading this hierarchy in BW, we need to manipulate and add 0POSITIONS to the 0COSTENTER hierarchies from R3 and store this back as another hierarchy (with 0POSITION as leaves below 0COSTCENTER). Now we need to report on this hierarchy and get stats like # vacant position, occupied position, etc.
Have you seen anybody doing this kind of manipulation, reading hierarchy data into DSO object, reporting, etc?
Any idea will be appreciated.

You might need some of these listed below. I have worked with Bidding Engine part and we needed the Purch org, Purch group, Status texts MD datasources. Check in the Shopping cart flow (rules) if there are any lookups on MD objects. In such case you would need to maintain MD for those.

Problem with delta update on customised export data source.

Hi all BW gurus,
I have created several customised export data sources in the R/3 system. And I have made use of the utility program <Z_CHANGE_DELTA_PROCESS> to update the ROOSOURCE table.
While this can result in being able to do initial update (instead of full update), the subsuquent delta update is not working.
In RSA7, the datasource is with green light and in RSA3, the extractor can extractor data out of it.
Does anybody have some idea on this?
I heard that there is a way to change the Business Transaction Event (BTE), but I don't quite understand how this is performed. And wonder if this is the only way out. To me, the triggering point would be the same, meaning the InfoPackage would be executed, then call the extractors in R/3 to extract the delta update in order to load into the InfoCube.
And how do others do for executing delta update of the customised data source?

Master data services - Excel addin integration with Sharepoint

Hi Gurus,
I am looking for different ways to present Excel addin plugin to user community. Can sharepoint be used to launch the excel within the portal. I am not sure if this is possible where a user can launch the excel directly from sharepoint website
where the excel opens with in the website.
It would be great to integrate with shareopoint, as it would allow users to go to one centralized location to perform MDS related tasks.

The excel UI can be only hosted in the Excel desktop UI.
The webUI is possible to hosted in the sharepoint.

IDOC:Master Data Records are not going to be updated after posting the IDOC

I need to create employee Master data records in R/3 .I am using the IDOC HRMD_A07, though the IDOC posting is successful no tables, corresponding to employee master Data are getting updated,
Can anybody plz Let me know the possible reasons and solutions for this?

hi i hecked the job log entries in SM37 in source system, the idocs were returned with '0' records. i took the Idoc number and checked in BD87 it displays some logs in that one node shows the red status with the detail as follow IDoc entries in tRFC queue 3383
the next one is green Data passed to port OK 1
i selected the red staus node and clicked 'process' button but it displays as
The operation cannot be carried out with this node type
wht should i do now, wht may be the reason for the datasource not pulling the data from R/3 to BI?

Delta Mechanism CRM to BW - Problem with delta update

Delta update from CRM - BW 3.X is not pulling all the newly added records and records which were saved with error, warning in CRM to BW

I am also having a problem with datasource 0CRM_SALES_ACT_1 - when I do a full load, it works, but when I try to do a Delta load, it does not bring across any data. In transaction RSA7 on the CRM source system, the entry looks like this:
Green: Delta is recorded 0CRM_SALES_ACT_1 BWQCLNT320 0

Hi Avneet,
Lets say Material group is an attribute of 0MATERIAL. You cube contains Material and also Material Group as a separate characteristic (not as navigational attr) becasue you want to store the value of material group as it was during the time the transaction happened.
But here you transactional data coming from the source brings Material values, not values of Material Group. So in the update rule for Material Group, you can specify "Master data attribute of" 0MATERIAL. What the system will do is take the value of 0MATERIAL on this record and populate Material Group taking the value that is present in Material Master data.
So if Material = M100 and Material Group is MG01 in master data, it will supply MG01 to Material Group char in the cube.

Generic extractor based on specific function module with delta update

I'm trying to create a specific extractor using a specific function module and a specific structure of record.
In my F.M i merge record from standard table MKPF and MSEg and return the result trhu the structure.
In initialisation mode, there's no problem . But now i'm must be able to use the DELTA mode but i don't know how to do it.
Can somebody help me?

Hi,
first of all: The use of delta in a generic Datasource by FM is not supported by SAP standard. You need to change the extraction method in table ROOSOURCE from F2 to F1. There is no standard transaction to do this, you have to do a hard table update. Be careful not to change any standard datasource by error, otherwise you can get serious problems.
The interface for the FM will change with the new extraction method. You will need a new parameter I_UPDMODE of type SBIWA_S_INTERFACE-UPDMODE to distinguish between Init, Delta and Full Load.
For an example coding please refer to FM RSVD_BW_GET_DELTA_DATA.

0Employee_Text master data returns 0 records with Full load

0Employee master data texts returns 0 records with full update. I checked PA0000 table and it has 22K records. I am not sure what is missing.

I've been checking the extractor 0EMPLOYEE_TEXT (RSA3 in debbug mode) and it gets data from table view V_BW_PA0001_ENM check if you allready have entries in this database view (it's a view from PA0001 with select condition PA0001-SPRPS eq ''.
If you have entries here you should get them with the extractor.
The notes solves extraction problems with several objects (in our case was 0ORGUNIT).

Please explain me in Laymans Language as i am new to BI (but am an ABAP consultant).
In Info Object Characteristics, Master data Tab there is infosource with direct update with an application Component.
1. Now my doubt is, when i specify the Application Component, this infosource would appear under the application component in Modeling->Infosources.
Then on this infosource i would right click and create the info pakage and then data transfer process.
is it correct?
2. Suppose for this characteristic if i dont specify the infosource with direct update then it wont appear in the infosource, so how can i load data in this case?

Hi,
Using an InfoSource with direct updating, master data (characteristics with attributes, texts, or hierarchies) of an InfoObject can be updated directly (without update rules, only using transfer rules) into the master data table. To do this you must assign it an application component. The system displays the characteristic in the InfoSource tree in the Data Warehousing Workbench. You can assign DataSources and source systems to the characteristic from there. You can then also load master data, texts, and hierarchies for the characteristic.
You cannot use an InfoObject as an InfoSource with direct updating if:
i. The characteristic you want to modify is characteristic 0SOURSYSTEM (source system ID).
ii. The characteristic has neither master data nor texts nor hierarchies. It is therefore impossible to load data for the characteristic.
iii. The characteristic that you want to modify turns out not to be a characteristic, but a unit or a key figure.
To generate an export DataSource for a characteristic, the characteristic must also be an InfoSource with direct updating.

The characteristic will be available in info source tree, you can assign a datasource->assignsource system->create package->load data.

For a characteristic If you dont specify 'InfoSources with Direct Updating' then it wont appear in infosource tree.

About delta loading for master data attribute

Hi all,
We have a master data attribute loading failed which is a delta loading. I have to fix this problem but I have two questions:
1. how can I find the those delta requests because I need to delete all these failed requests first, am I right ? Master data is not like cube or ods that we can find the requests in Manage, for master data how can we find them ?
2. Could you please let me know the detailed procedures to perform this delta loading again ?

Look.....for master data.....no need to delete request from the target..........just make the status red.......and repeat the load.....But problem is that master data sometimes does'nt support Repeat delta..........if u repeat......then load will again fail with Update mode R.........in that case u hav to do re-init.......
1) delete the init flag.......(In the IP scheduler >> in the top Scheduler tab >> Initialization option for source system)
2) Init with data transfer(if failed load picks some records)..........otherwise .....init without data transfer.....if the last delta failed picking 0 records.......
3) then Delta.......

Not getting delta master data after refresh

Hello,
We have just refreshed our QA (BW and R/3) environments from our production environments. It was a synchronized restore. We have done this multiple times in the past and have not run into this problem before.
Everything checks out fine - full master data loads fine, and delta transaction data loads fine, but our master data loads that are deltas retreive no data and produce the following message:
Selection conditions replaced by last init. selection conditions
Message no. RSM1036
Diagnosis
Selection conditions replaced by init. selection conditions.
No new selections can be made when requesting delta data from a 2.0 extractor.
Delta selections are composed of the total quantity of all the selections of all the sucessful init. requests for this DataSource.
I have looked this up here and in OSS. What I have found would indicate that we have multiple inits. However, when I look at the Initialization Options for Source System from within the infopkg, there is only one. Also, RSA7 appears to be fine on R/3.
Is there table or setting that may have been missed or some other place I need to check?
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have compared rssdlinit on BW with roosprmsc on R/3 and they match. I have checked other tables too and they look fine.
There was a mistake made when the system was refreshed that may have caused this problem. That would at least explain why we are having this problem now and did not before.
I tested one of our delta master data objects (0material_text). I deleted the init from within the infopkg. Then I ran the infopkg to init with no data transfer. That appeared to work - resulting in 1 record which is normal for an init delta with no data. Then changed material text on R/3 and ran the infopkg with delta update. It still gave the same message that I listed in my first post, and it retrieved 0 records.
Any ideas?
