Matrix Delimited Output Problem

When report data is very huge Oracle Reports run time engine is not generating the report in delimited format.I am using matrix stayle report for generating output in delimited format.I ame getting Dr.Watson error.please advice me as early as possible.

raghu,
Desformat=delimiteddata was primiarily introduced just to overcome the isues faced with the large reports with desformat=delimited.
We strongly recommend you to use Desformat=delimiteddata for any large reports when you are looking for delimited output. The commandline arguments are same for both.

• Problem with delimited output in repeating frames - urgent

I have two repeating frames one below the other. The problem is that unless there are two rows or more that result in the first repeating frame, it does not appear in the delimited output file. What is going on here ? Is it a bug ?
This happens only when I use generate to file -> delimited option. The report work fine using the previewer.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Now I have reports 6i (6.0.8.22.0). I believe it is patch 13. I still have the same problem. I still do not see the "delimiteddata" option. I only see "delimited" option. Someone told me that there is a new, "delimiteddata" option with patch 11 and higher. Also where can I find new documentation that shows the new desformat.

• Delimited output of report that contains frames with Print Direction = 'Across'

Hello all.
On the header section of my report, I have a frame with Print Direction = 'Across'.
On screen the output is :
Value1 Value2 Value3 Value 4
I want to export this report to excel, by using DELIMITED option. However the output I'm getting is :
Value1
Value2
Value3
Value4
e.g., reports is not generating several columns (one for each field), but separate lines.
Anyone knows how to accomplish delimited output of frames with Print Direction='Across' ?
Thanks in Advance,
Octavio

If you're not generating both bitmap and delimited data from the same report, try using character mode output rather than "delimited". You can create the report to generate the appropriately delimited values to a text file. This will also give you greater control over aspects such as headings.
Delimited output simply uses the structure of the layout. It doesn't take into account the across/down repeat directions except in the case of matrix.

• Oracle Matrix Rpt output to Microsoft Excel File

I am looking for a solution that would take my current Oracle 9i matrix report output directly to an excel file. I have clients that need to see the report not in a pdf format(which I currently use) but in an excel format.
Thanks,

You could either use:
a) DELIMITED output, assuming that the matrix isn't too large.
b) DELIMITEDDATA output, which will just give you a dump of the data, and you'd need to construct the cross tab directly.
c) In you're using 9i, then you could use jsp tags to output directly into an Excel html file (this could get pretty complicated for a matrix report). See an example of this at http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/index.html

• Delimited output in reports

I am building a simple report for address labels. I also want to to produce the address list in delimited format.
The generation of the report into PDF works fine, however delimited output does not include all of the fields of the report.
The approximate field layout is
Name
Address Line 1
Address Line 2
Experimenting a little, it seems that the fields only generate in delimited format if they don't overlap vertically.
ie Name AddressLine1 AddressLine2
This produces the correct delimited output, but of course is nothing like what I want for an address label.
Version: Report Builder 6.0.8.8.3
I have seen some references to a patchset in other discussions. Where can I obtain these patches from?
thanks, evnafets

I'm sorry I guess I didn't make my problem clear.
I am generating delimited output from the menu: File:Generate To File: Delimited
The generated file does NOT include all the fields from the Layout view, unless they don't overlap vertically.
So if my layout view looks like
Name AddressLine1 AddressLine2
(all fields on same line)
The delimited file produces correctly.
ie Name,AddressLine1,AddressLine2
(using comma as delimiter)
If my layout view is
Name
AddressLine1
AddressLine2
(Three vertically overlapping fields)
It only produces:
Name
Somewhere along the way, the address lines get lost.
If the Layout view is
Name AddressLine1
AddressLine2
It produces
Name, AddressLine1
And (Last example)
Name AddressLine1
AddressLine2
Produces Correctly (note no vertical overlapping)
I can't pretend to understand WHY it is performing like this, but thats what happens on my machine.
Thanks for the information on the patches - I'll upgrade and see if the issue goes away.
I did read and understand earlier posts about the labels printing, and I think its worth patching up just to get the feature to switch them off.
Thanks, evnafets

• Dev 6.0 Reports - Delimited Output

The delimited output option from the generate to file
menu option in the run-time previewer of Developer 6.0 Reports
does not seem to work correctly with reports created in Reports
3.0. I have opened and re-compiled the Reports 3.0 (D2K R2.1)
.fmb in Developer 6.0 Reports. These reports will run fine, but
generating delimited output generates files with nothing in them
(i.e., the file sizes are always zero kilobytes).
Is there something I am missing besides just recompiling the
report from Repors 3.0 in Developer 6.0 Reports? I recreated
part the report from scratch in Developer 6.0 Reports and the
delimited output does work.
I have a lot of time invested in numerous reports created in
Reports 3.0 and I was hoping I would not have to recreate them to
use the delimted output feature!
Thanks in advance,

• Macbook mini DVI to DVI output problems

hi
I've been using a samsung syncmaster 22" with my macbook for about a year now with no problems using the mini DVI to DVI connection
then earlier this week i used a different DVI cable to plug my playstation 3 into the screen, when i plugged the computer DVI cable back into the screen lots of red/pink pixels have taken over the screen and when the desk is nudged red lines flash up
i thought it might be either the DVI cable or the mini DVI to DVI adapter and replaced both to no avail, i have also tested all the cables on other screens/with other computers, and tested the screen with my playstation. Screen and cables all work fine so i think it must be some kind of output problem, but cant work out what it could be seeing as nothing would have happened to the port on the actual computer whilst changing connections on the samsung screen
sorry for the long winded post, really wanna know what the problem is here

Hi cbeth,
welcome to macbook forum.
For your friend macbook, try to press F7 back and forth to switch between mirror and expanded mode.
Try to update your macbook hardware firmware and software using software updater and repair permission after that...application/utilities/disk utility/repair permission.
Also reset your PRAM and PMU.
Open your friend system preference / display and try to compare and set yours similar to hers, including resolution, color depth, refresh rate.
Good Luck.

• Mac mini audio output problems

This is similar to a problem that appeared before, but with a different twist.
On 4 July all was well. On 5 July I switched on and there was no "chord" from the Mac. When I collected my mail - no sound from my speakers (which are part of my screen). Logged on to a couple of sites - no sound.
The System Profiler, under the "Audio (Built In)" category, says: "No Built-in Audio." I know that's wrong because it's always worked before and when I plug my headset in it works fine.
When I go to the Sound preferences panel in System Preferences, it finds the headset but if I unplug that it finds nothing.
I tried running the hardware test (by putting in the OS X install disc and holding D during startup.) It couldn't find a problem.
So, as far as I can see, audio output is fine for the USB headset output but not for the others. Is there a simple fix? The nearest Apple store is about 200 miles away and I don't fancy the idea of posting the Mac off.
(And I think it's still under warranty for a couple more weeks.)
Mac mini Mac OS X (10.4.10)

hello mini users with the "no audio output" problem
it seems that there are faulty output jacks in the macbook and the mac mini
there are two things you can try:
i tried everything and began thinking about what new software i had installed. it was "macam" which enables you to use older webcams on OSX. i needed that to use my webcam on skype.
macam installs a file called "macam.component"
if you have the same, do this - take that file out of:
(your hard drive)/library/quicktime - macam.component
and just put it on your desktop
restart, then in your sound pref's choose your audio output (if doesn't work restart again)
the first time i took it out, i had my sound back instantly, another time i had to choose audio output in sound prefs. you kind of have to try different things. after you get your sound back, you can put back "macam.component" to use your webcam.
it seems macam causes the problem, the two can not work at the same time.
the second thing: if you dont have "maccam" try plugging and unplugging output jack a few times and restarting until you have sound.
the problem still could be with the OSX 10.4.10 update / quicktime...or maybe even a hardware problem like others with macbooks were saying (with the red light), not sure.
people with macbooks and who have the red light on, say to use a paperclip to turn off the switch inside.
my mini does not have a red light on. i tried using a paperclip but it doesnt work.
hope this helps, beleive me i feel your pain!!!!
what good is a computer without sound?
extremely annoying problem that i hope apple looks into and fixes

• Delimited output of a select query

Hi, How to write comma delimited output
of select query from within a PL/SQL stored
procedure to a file. for example
select a | | ',' | | b
from test3
I know it can be done at SQL prompt using spool command, but
don't know how it can be done from within PL/SQL procedure without using cursors
thanks
Pramod

Hi Pramod,
Why don't u try with use of UTL FILE.
select the necessary values into some local variables.
With the use of utl_file.fopen open a file.
And use utl_file.put_line to write the values
in to the file.
Try it and let me know.

• Generating delimited output from Reports Runtime R60

When generating a delimited file using Runtime how can you predict or determine how Oracle will form the output rows from the report layout? Does anyone have any documentation on Runtime that explains the generation process as there is nothing in the Runtime Reference manual.

The only documentation (such that it is) that I've found on this is in MetaLink, in Note 68245.1 "Delimited Output in Reports" and a tiny bit more in Note 120072.1 "Suppressing header on delimited output".

• Is it possible to have delimited output using burst distributed mode

I am aware that it is not possible to have burst mode and delimited output using reports. I am using reports 9.0.4.0.21. Are there any work arounds ? Is it possible to use ascii, and then use the destype=printer, but the printer destination will be a file location or direcotory ? Any suggestions with this ?

Just to make it clear, if the question isnt. I am trying to hae burst mode distribution, but i am not able to use the feature in Oracle Reports, since delimited output is not supported. I would like to use the burst mode distribution because of its advantages, however since that is not supported the only other alternative in burst mode is using format=ascii. But that format, as much as i am aware, is only for printing, since the mode has to be character. Is it possible to have any workarounds where the mode=character, but the device which reports points to is actually another file location ? Has anybody got any interesting ideas ?

• Premiere Elements 12 output problem

I am having problems outputting my project. Different errors messages. One says transcoding error. Another time it says export error. Other times it crashes. And then the program won't even open.
Any suggestions?
bwatson9

Steve,
First, thank you for your prompt response. This is the first time I have used Premiere Elements 12. I don't seem to have a manual for the software.
The product was bought with my new computer. I am using windows 8.1 (64-bit) with Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz. I have 12 GB of installed RAM. I have 1TB hard drive of which this is the first project I done.
I have checked to make sure that I am getting all Windows and Microsoft Updates. I even manually went to Windows Update and installed the optional updates.
The project is a 20 min. video using mostly photos and 2 small video clips. The project is saved in its own folder.
When I go to the timeline in Expert view I do see an orange-yellow line above the timeline. It runs the whole length of the project.
I understand from reading the FAQ's that each photo cannot be larger than 1000 x 750 pixels. I will check that and reduce their size. Is there anything else that I need to do?
Where can I find a manual?
Thanks,
bwatson9

A lot depends on a lot.
What operating system are you using? What processor do you have and how much RAM and how much free space is on your hard drive?
How long is your project? What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
Have you ensured that your project file is saved to its own folder, with no other project files in this folder?
When you add your video to your timeline in Expert view, do you see a yellow-orange line above the clips, along the top of the timeline? This indicates a mismatch between project settings and video specs.
If you are on a Windows computer, have you set up your computer to get both Windows and Microsoft Updates -- and have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have even the optional updates that don't install automatically?
When did you last run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter?
