Matrix object in matrix report

hi friends
I am designing a simple matrix report,
data model - "select deptno , job , sum(sal) from emp group by deptno , job"
now in the layout model i see that report builder has created a frame in which there is an object called
"MATRIX
verti rpeating frame
horix rep frame
cross product group
if i wish to create a matrix report manually without wizard i am unable to find this object
pls help me how can i create amatrix report manually

Hi,
in order to create a matrix object you have to:
- create a repeating frame (say R_1), set its source property to the "column" for the matrix and set its print direction property to "Down";
- create a new repeating frame (say R_2) that intersect R_1 (they must not be one inside the other, but they must intersect!), set its source property to the "row" for the matrix an set its print direction property to "Across";
- drag a rectangle around both repating frames (R_1 and R_2) to select them, then choose Insert --> Layout Matrix.
This creates a matrix object that is the intersection of the two repeating frames.

Hello,
You need to select both frames(ctrl+click on both frames) before choosing Insert > Layout Matrix.
It should work.

Matrix object on multiple line

Hi all,
In my report I have a matrix object in a frame.
When columns are too much to be contained in the frame, the matrix looks like truncated.
I'd like the matrix go to the next line.
I mean that if I have a matrix like the following:
.     a     b     c     d     e     f     g
A     1     1     1     2     2     2     2
B     2     2     2     3     3     3     3
C     4     4     4     5     5     5     5
Actually I have the following layout (because the matrix is bigger than the frame):
.     a     b     c     d     e
A     1     1     1     2     2
B     2     2     2     3     3
C     4     4     4     5     5
But I'd like to have something like this:
.     a     b     c     d     e
A     1     1     1     2     2
B     2     2     2     3     3
C     4     4     4     5     5
.     f     g
A     2     2
B     3     3
C     5     5

How to build a Matrix with Group Left Report

I want to build a Matrix with Group Left Report,not Matrix with Group Above Report,i am still finding the solution, any help is useful.

The problem in your output is not clear. The report output should appear like:
Order Mode.....Sales_Rep_ID > 10..11..12..
Online.........Order Status
...............A..............x....x...x
...............B..............x....x...x
...............C..............x....x...x
Order Mode.....Sales_Rep_ID > 10..11..12..
Retail.........Order Status
...............A..............x....x...x
...............B..............x....x...x
...............C..............x....x...x
Here "Order Mode" is the group field (it repeats for every group). Could you pl specify what output you are getting?
If the problem is that you don't want the Title (like "Order Mode" in the above example) to print in every group, just place it outside the group repeating frame. It will print only once.

Matrix object

I'm trying to achieve a 'Falling leaf effect' to apply on a
number of little lines triggered by a mouse over event. I'm feeling
adventurous today and would like to use AS to do that.
i understood the matrix object could help and have a code
that looks like this :

the thing is i can't figure out how to put in relation the
code, the movie clip (do i need one?) and the event handler

you don't need a movieclip but you need some display object
to which to apply your matrix. you apply it by assigning the matrix
property of your display object to be your matrix.

Use Matrix Object

Hi
I have a problem with the Matrix Object. This object can be filled with data manually, running on the 2004C SDK, but NOT on the 2007A version. The line data can be edited, if it is filled before through DB datasource, but cannot be edited if the Matrix is empty.
So my question would be that how can we enter data to the rows of the Matrix Object manually, if the Matrix is actually empty.

Can't add database field or text object to a report (new and existing)

We have Crystal Report 8.5 and when trying to modify an existing report or create a new report, I can't seem to add any database fields or text objects in my report. I get a prohibition symbol (circle with a backslash inside it) when I hover over the report. Has anyone encoutered something like this? Any suggestions? Thank you.

Do you have two monitors?
I had this problem if I tried to open crystal in the second monitor, move it back to primary monitor and it should be OK.

How to align object in the report layout

Hello,
I find it very difficult to aligin objects in the report editor or in the template editor. I know there are some alignment options, like aligning to the grid or aligning a group of objects, but they seem to work on the bounding rectangle for the object. For my text objects, those rectangles are arbitrarily sized. So aligning those rectangles does not correctly align the text baseline, for example.
Does anyone have a tip on how you can align objects? I there maybe a way to alter the size of objects by changing a number in a property sheet somewhere?

The problems I am having now occur when I am editing the margin in the template editor. For some reason, the flex and confine options can not be turned off in the template editor. I believe they are turned on in this mode, at least in tools:options: paper layout they are turned on. But anyway, this really does not matter because I don't have nested objects in the margin. The objects that will go flying off are completely unrelated to the object I want to move or resize.
Update: I have just tried editing the layout of a report that was based on the template I am working on. Turning flex off there had a positive effect. It seems indeed the 'flex' setting is to blame for the problems I am experiencing. Thanks for the tip!

Business Objects 3.1 reports are not working with IE 10.

Recently I upgraded my internet explorer to IE10.. Since then business objects 3.1 reports are not opening in IE10.0
Getting error message "webpage can't be found".
I am not sure whether BO 3.1 reports work with IE 10.0 or not.
Please advise

Did you try with other browsers ?
IE 10 (Compatibility View display mode) with Oracle Java 6 / Oracle Java 7 is supported for BOXI3.1 SP6.
Please check the PAM for details of your SP level.

First you have to set the matrix column type as it_PICTURE then bind that column to a userdatasource or dbdatasource. In the following code I am using userdatasource . This code will   set the picture to a sepecified columns first row. Please create small image and paste it in your c drive (15X15 size image-- "c:\pic.png")

            Dim mtxDisp As SAPbouiCOM.Matrix = form.Items.Item("mtxDisp").Specific

Templated report not showing static text/objects on inheriting reports

I have created some basic templates with style/font for all objects on the report as well as some static heading information with parameter fields which will be used in all inheriting reports.However, when applying the template from the file it does not inherit any of the static text/parameters.I've noticed that when I open Crystal Reports 2008 templates, they have red markers on all objects to the left, re-saving this file and then using it as a template does mean that all the static text is inherited.What am I missing here?

How / can I have jpg logo objects used on reports automatically updated

How / can I have jpg logo objects used on reports automatically updated after making changes to the repository copy of the jpg logo object in the repository? The reports are in the enterprise items folder of the repository and the logo.jpg file is in a subfolder of repository items. I made changes but the changes seem to apply only after I set my options in crystal reports and open the actual rpt file itself.
Is there a way to have the changes to the logo show / apply in all reports that have the repository item logo inserted into it without having to open every rpt file in the repository?

Yes, I understand that... the problem I was having was that check box being unchecked whenever an unrelated change was made to rpt file... I was able to ensure that it remained checked by doing save as to the rpt file and making sure the "enable repository refresh" box was checked and replacing the file when prompted upons saving the rpt file...
