Matrix Report overflows to other page
We have a Matrix Report (Report Builder 6.0.8.20.1) with a lot of columns. The report is in landscape style, but still the matrix will not fit horizontally.
The second part of the matrix will be displayed on the next page, while there is enough space to display the second part of the matrix on the same page, below the first part of the matrix.
Does anyone know why Report Builder has this behaviour?
Thanks in advance,
Lennart de Vos
PS: All properties Page Protect, Page Break Before/After have been set to "No". The property Print Direction of the repeating frames in the Matrix cannot be changed
hello,
if i understand correctly, the matrix overflows in the horizontal direction to another page and you would like this part to show up below the first part on the same page insead ? much like wrapping the matrix ?
unfortunately reports does not support wrapping of layout objects. if a layout object exceeds the page in any direction the overflow part will be pushed to another page.
thanks,
ph.

Scramble layout when split a large matrix report in separate PDF page
Dear All,
I have large matrix report, and set the destype=cache, desformat=PDF, width=11, height=8.5 (at Main Section property).
This report running well and resulted PDF file.
But the problem is in the layout, i got a scramble layout and sometimes there are empty boxes.
I thinks, this cause of the matrix size exceed the size of section (width & height at Main Section property).
Anyone have solution for this?
Thanks before..............Must admit that I never saved as txt
Looks like a bug to me. What is the version of reports?

Multiple Rows for Same Value in Matrix Report
Hello
I am trying to create a matrix report that shows different page for each Category. Report looks like follows:
Page1( for Category '1')
Agent |
Calls |
Sales
TestAgent1 18
3
TestAgent1 5
1
Page2( for Category '2')
Agent |
Calls |
Sales
TestAgent1 26
5
TestAgent1 13
2
The issue is as you can see in above table, that i am getting repeated rows for same agents. I have tried making a parent group on Agent but it would still keep showing multiple rows. Ideally, it should show each agent only once in each page.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS: I am new to SSRS and this is my first time on microsoft blog, so i apologize if i wasn't able to follow the protocols/culture here.
ThanksHi M Adnan,
According to your description, you want to show a total Calls and total Sales for same agent so that it has only one row for each agent in your category group. Right?
In this scenario, if you only have a row group for category, it will show all “detail rows” in this groups even the agent of these rows are same one. So we can add a row group, set those detail rows group by agent and use Sum function to get the total Calls
and Sales. It looks like below:
If we want to display each Page in horizontal, we just need one Category column group for grouping rows and use sum function to get total Calls and Sales for each agent. It looks like below:

I've made a matrix report and I want it to have a grid. I did everything that the document "Building reports" said, but it doesn't work properly. When I open the report - the gird disappears, but if I for example change color lines or fill of the frames/fields - the grid appears again. Hovewer if I save this "new-old" report and open this saved version again I see the grid disappeared again.
That is not a permanent solution, i cannot give country field a fixed, because country name may go up to 1,2 or 3 lines, so accordingly it should expand.
Have you guys never faced such a situation in matrix report? -
hi
i have a matrix report with 2 level groups above it. now i need to sum group 2 cloumn values for every row on the basis of level 1 group.
For example, I have Top level group like TUBEWELL TYPE ( values are DEISEL and ELECTRIC) and below it at lower level is OWNER (with values like PRIVATE, GOVT) repeating both for DEISEL and ELECTRIC.
Now I need to sum every row i.e Private and Govt for Diesel and Private and Govt for Electric (two sums in one row).
Wizard provides complete row total but not group total.
So ur help required guys!!

[email protected]Hi..
am not providing you the exact answer.
But you can refer to the PRODUCT ORDER PROPERTY in the reports help or on the website.
Basically, all you need to do is manipulate the product order property, reset at or may be even compute at properties in the summary/ formula column of your matrix report.

Hello Experts,
I am trying to create a custom purchase order that shows shipping distributions.
I have been successful so far in creating a matrix report that shows this. However, the client's requirement is that I limit the items to at least 10 items per page.
I need to be able to create a page break to have 10 items per page and to have the header be included in the next page since the header includes the branches where the goods are supposed to be distributed.
I have tried several things but I was not able to make it work.
I can provide the xml and the rtf template if needed. Thank you.Hi Bifacts,
Just sent the xml and rtf files your way. I appreciate any feedback you can give as I've been stuck on this for a while now.
If anyone else can help out, it will be greatly appreciated! -

Page level totals in a matrix report
hi all,
Is it possible to have any kind of page level totals in a matrix report??
i tried it manually, but it gave me an error as follows,
REP-1266: Column '<column name>': Page Level columns are not allowed in a Cross Product.
Thanks
MartinMartin,
Is one of your report Repeating frames set to break on pages? If so, then go to the data model and create the variables you need inside the group of the repeating frame. If you are doing a summary column, don't forget to set the repeat at: property correctly. Then just carefully add the fields to the layout. The matrix layout can be very difficult to work with so what I do is carefully expand out all the frames so they are not overlapping with the outermost frame being on the very outside. Use the Fill Color setting on the layout to paint the frames so you can see what is sitting on top of what. It may take a few shots to get it right.
Have you worked with Oracle analytic functions? They can really make your life easy by doing all of the summing at various levels. Also look into GROUPING SETS they are the bomb! Check out the URL below for more info:

Creating a report as a navigation path for other pages
Hi,
I would like to create a report which presents a list of an application's pre-defined reports (each report is created in a separate page). This report should include the following columns:
1) Report Number (1, 2 , 3, ...)
2) Report Name
3) Report Description
4) A link or button or whatever else that should be used to redirect the user to the appropriate report page that he selects.
So by clicking on the link or button in the report row the application redirects the user to the appropriate report page.
For example:
If I have 10 predefined reports in the application, these reports are created on pages 1 to 10 in the application. I need to create a report that gathers these 10 reports (reports rows/lines) and the user can select the desired report by clicking something on the report row level to be redirected to the appropriate detailed report page.
Please advice and thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ahmed El Shinnawy.
Edited by: ashinnawy on Aug 3, 2009 3:00 AMHi,
If you have only a few items, I would suggest using a List.
However, it is possible to create a report that provides links to pages based on values in a table. For example, supposing you create a report using:
SELECT REPORT_PAGE,
REPORT_NAME
FROM REPORTS
ORDER BY REPORT_NAMEUntick the "Show" option for REPORT_PAGE. On the REPORT_NAME column definition, go to the Link section and make the following settings:
Link Text: #REPORT_NAME# (you can click the [REPORT_NAME] link under this option to quickly make this setting)
Page: #REPORT_PAGE#
Any #COLUMN_NAME# entries you make here are picked up from the appropriate column in the row's data. You don't need to show the page number (unless you particularly wanted to?), so you just hide it from the user.
Bear in mind that this IS a report, so it will be formatted as such - you may have to play with a new report template to get it looking smart!

Hi,
I know the posts on the same issue exist in year 2002 exist but they doesn't seem to have any solutions, or at least do not have the proper answers that I want. Or maybe I miss it when I search.
I have created a matrix report with groups above.

I can see that the report generates successfully. Rows and columns showing the correct data. However, the problem arises where one single month (let's say January 2006) of the report matrix group expand from page 1 to page 2 horizontally. And on page one, big amount of space left (below the first part of Janurary 2006 matrix group) which can actually accomodate either the first part of February 2006 matrix group or the rest of January 2006 matrix group. But it wasn't populated.

{...and so on...}Instead, the February 2006 matrix group only started out on page 2 when the January 2006 matrix group ends.
How can it be done, so that either the following be done?
A) Second part of January 2006 fills up the first page as well instead of the empty space. Meaning the First part of January 2006 is above and 2nd part below thus filling up the first page. February 2006 would start off from 2nd page.
B) First part of January and February 2006 fills up the first page and their second part ends at 2nd page.
FYI, horizontal landscape of report is NOT preferable. Even if it is used, the same scenario persist.
Hope someone can help me out here on this. Or at least show me how you do it alternatively.
Thank you.Thanks for the reply.
FYI, not every month have all the columns filled up. Meaning some months may have lesser columns resulting in smaller tables. That's why some of the months, their tables will fit into one page.
Changing width of does not solve my problem because my reports are made for A4 paper size. Printing such a report with its width altered causes some part of the table which overflows out from A4 paper size not to be printed.
The location of the value I changed can be found here:
Paper Layout > Main Section > Property Sheet: Width

Calculate percentage between two rows in a matrix report with a single row group in SSRS 2008
I need your help. I have a matrix report in ssrs 2008. The report contain one field value column and one value column. I need to calculate a percentage for two values. For example : row 1 : Discount 10 Row 2 : Sales 100 Result : 10/100. I have only one
row group, I need to have a condition where Field = Discount % on Revenue then Discount/Total Turnover. Because of the grouping for total, I am not being able to calculate the %, its just totalling the % discount. Kindly refer to the snapshot of the
report.Hi Thanks a lot for your answer, but unfortunately it didn't work, the report is reading from a stored procedure which I have unpivot to convert all columns into rows, so that's why Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover is found in one column.
So the Field!Col.Value is the Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover. I have tried to change the code to
"=SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Discount",Fields!value.Value),0))
/IIF(SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)) = 0 ,
Nothing,SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)))" but to no avail. Any other suggestion will be most welcome.
Thanks.
If everything you're getting from stored procedure then you need to calculate and bring the value from there itself.

SSRS - How to achieve multiple instances of a matrix output in a single page?
Hi,
I am in a scenario where I am supposed to build a report aggregated on Sales for each store in a city.
I have a data set like this.
City Store Name Yr Sales
C1 S1 2000
100000
C1 S1 2001
150000
C2 S2 2000
200000
C2 S2 2001
250000
C2 S3 2000 300000
C2 S3 2001 300000
Now my report has to be displayed in this way:
C1
Yr S1
2000 100000
2001 150000
C2
Yr S2 S3
2000 200000 300000
2001 250000 300000
How do I achieve this..? I tried to use Matrix report but not able to arrive at the required result.??
Can someone please help me!!Thats easy
DO the following steps
1. Add a matrix with rowgroup as Yr field and Column group on StoreName
2. Add a parent row group on City field. delete the columns or grouping retaining group alone(ie choose Delete Columns only option
3. Add a new tablix with a single row group on City field
4. Add a row below under same group in table
5. Move the matrix inside the new row and you will get desired output
see screenshots below
Also attached is a sample report for your reference using your sample data
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4ZDNhljf8tQek1HNldPOFVjNTA/view?usp=sharing
Just change datasource to point to any of your server and database and execute the rdl
