Max number of dataspaces in table space

I am getting the error ORA-1686 max # files(1023)reached for tablespace SAPPR1 when trying to create a new dataspace.
The tablespace has 1023 2GB dataspaces in it. What is my best option for this tablespace?

Hmm...well, there are several options, with varying degrees of complexity and difficulty.
First, each file is 2GB. Though that was a common limit for datafile size in years gone by, any reasonably up-to-date O/S should be able to handle files of much larger sizes. So, you could begin by growing the size of the existing datafiles.
Second, you could move some objects out of that tablespace, freeing up some space there.
Third, you could move all the objects out, drop the tablespace, and re-create it with datafiles larger than 2GB.
Finally, if you're on 10g, and you're planning to rebuild the tablespace, you may want to investigate bigfile tablespaces.

  • Max number of columns in table for compression

i was told that 256 columns is the max number in a single table for oracle to do compression on table. Can anyone confirm this ?

I can't confirm it off the top of my head but if it is the case then it is documented at http://tahiti.oracle.com you can look it up yourself.
What I do want to weigh in on is the insanity of a table with more than 256 columns. I consider any table with more than 50 columns suspect, more than 100 likely a strong indication that someone understands little about normalization. Anyone contemplating 255+ columns should have their fingers removed from their keyboard by force if necessary.

  • What's the max number of columns a table can have on 32 bit OS & 64 bit OS

What is the max number of columns a table can have on 32 bit OS & 64 bit OS ?

For TimesTen 7.0 and 11.2.1 releases the limit on the number of columns per table is 1000 for both 32 and 64 bit TimesTen. This can be found in the documentation under System Limits.

  • What is the max number of records in table

    Hello Friends,
    am using oracle 11g .
How many records we can store in a table or what is the maximum size of the table . On what factors it depends.
If the number of records are ever growing , what is the best possible solutiion ?
    thanks/kumar

There is a limit based on the limit of the ROWID.
You may find this limit in Oracle documentation.
From database version 9.0 it is virtually unlimited for us, as it is hardly likely to reach the max value of the ROWID with data we can store now and with the actual speed of our computers (reported to our lifetime).

  • Reg: Find Duplicate Records and select max number of record in Table

    Hi Guys,
         This is Nagendra, India.
    my table structure is
    id  name  tempid  temptime
    1  xxx     123        date
    1 yyy       128       date
    1 sdd     173       date
    14 ree    184      date
    14 fded   189     date
This is Table Structure, totally 15000+ records is there.
My Requirement is showing id and max(tempId) value.
    id  name  tempid  temptime
    1   sdd    173      date
    14  fded   189     date
Like that, I want to show all record(after hiding duplicate values ) like that Could you please solve this issue.
    With Regards,
    Nagendra

    ; WITH numbering AS (
        SELECT id, name, tempid, temptime,
rowno = row_number() OVER(PARTITION BY id ORDER BY tempid DESC)
        FROM  tbl
    SELECT id, name, tempid, temptime
    FROM   numbering
    WHERE  rowno = 1
The WITH thing defines a Common Table Expression which is a locally defined view which only exists for this query. The row_number function numbers the rows, re-starting on 1 for every id, and they are numbering in falling tempid order. Thus, by
selecting all rows from the CTE with rono = 1, we get the row with the highest tempid for each id.

  • Max Number Of Columns in  table

We have a requirement, where we need to create 400 columns on one table. Will there be any performance issues with this?
Is there any oracle documentation that can justify this action?
    Thank You
    Kev

If there is a limit imposed by the software (1000), it should be a limit recommanded by the logical.
You have a RDBMS software here, that means Relational. Relational means tables links.
A table with 400 columns is a nightmare, do not say an horror of conception, and certainly a conceptual error of the business you are working on.
You really should reconsider this fact, and cut your 400 columns in smaller logical pieces (tables).

  • Max number of records in an internal table

    Hi,
Can any one tell me what is the Max Number of records we can get into an internal table.
if you have any link of sap help on this please FWD.
    thanks in Adv.
    Regards,
    Lakshmikanth.T.V

    Hi lakshmikanth,
Internal Tables as Dynamic Data Objects
Internal tables are always completely specified regarding row type, key and access type. However, the number of lines is not fixed. Thus internal tables are dynamic data objects, since they can contain any number of lines of a particular type. The only restriction on the number of lines an internal table may contain are the limits of your system installation. The maximum memory that can be occupied by an internal table (including its internal administration) is 2 gigabytes. A more realistic figure is up to 500 megabytes. An additional restriction for hashed tables is that they may not contain more than 2 million entries. The line types of internal tables can be any ABAP data types - elementary, structured, or internal tables. The individual lines of an internal table are called table lines or table entries. Each component of a structured line is called a column in the internal table.

  • Space in bytes used by a single index in given table space

    Hi All,
How can i find a table space used by index in bytes
    Eg:
suppose i have a table space USERS and i have a table say customer . one index defined on table customer called CUSTOMER_UQ and mapped to table to table space USERS . How can i find the bytes used by object CUSTOMER_UQ in table space USERS.
    Thanks

The used space in Karthik's example is the number of bytes actually used by entries in the index, not the amount of space allocated to the index itself.
To find out how much space in disk is allocated to the index you can use (as the owner of the index) something like:
    SELECT bytes FROM user_segments
WHERE segment_name = <index name>You could also use all_segments or dba_segments if you have access as another user, but you would also need to specify the owner name.

  • Is there a max number of names that can be put into Contacts

is there a max number of names that can be put into Contacts and still have the app work well?

Yes, there is. It's how many contacts your hard drive can take. So you can fill up the entire computer with nothing but contacts until your HDD/Flash has no space left. So if you have 250GB, it'd be less than if you had 500GB and you'd have more on 750GB.

  • Max number of chars in process message MSEL?

Hi, what is the max number of characteristics can be used in process message category's MSEL table? Right now, I am using more than 99 characteristics and I get a short dump DYNPRO_FIELD_CONVERSION. Is it really limited to 99 characteristics and if it is true, is there an OSS note to change it to allow more than 99?
    Thanks and points available

Please make sure that you build a
multithreaded program first (check with ldd).
If anyone can tell me the maximum number of threads per process I would
    really appreicate it.
Also the maximum number of open files per process. It depends on the architecture (x86/SPARC), OS version,
    64 or 32-bit, /etc/system, shell limitations (/usr/bin/ulimit) ...
    Search for "rlim_fd_max / rlim_fd_cur" on docs.sun.com too.

  • "Sequence number already exists in table" maintining Data Sources

Hi fellows, i am seting up a new connector in GRC 10.0, but when configuring the connector for the User detailed Data sources i get the same error; "Sequence number already exists in table".
I have tried with over 200 numbers which I know for sure are available and still get the same error. Where can I find the table with this information?
Can the information be removed to clean up table space?
    Thanks for your help!!!

    Hi Gabriela
I recall getting this error a lot and it seemed to be a buffering/memory problem where it was remember the old value was getting remember. I had to exit out of the IMG navigation and reenter it again. It'd happen if I deleted one entry and then went to add another (even after saving). Not sure if you are getting this
Other thing is to check the backed tables to see if any orphaned values on the primary key

  • How to change the max number of member display in Target Group

    Dear Experts,

    Appricate you help.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
you can set the number of members that will be displayed in target group.
Go to any profile group -> open the graphical modelling -> open settings.
Here you can ajust the displayed number of members in a targetgroup.
These settings are user-dependent and saved in table CRMD_MKTTG_PERS.

  • How to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM

How and from where to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM ??
    Thanks

    Hi,
first of all, the online help system of grid control is outstanding. Just click on Help in the upper right corner and enter "Tablespace Extent Map" in the search form.
    Result:
    Show Tablespace Contents Page
Each Oracle database is divided into one or more logical units called tablespaces. You can use Oracle Enterprise Manager to manage these tablespaces and create or modify the parameters for the tablespaces. Use the Tablespace property sheet to set general and storage information for the specified tablespace.
Use the Show Tablespace Contents page to display the list of tablespace segments that comprise the existing tablespace. You can display Tablespace Extents by choosing Show Tablespace Extent Map at the bottom of the page. An extent is a logical unit of database storage space allocation made up of a number of contiguous data blocks. One or more extents in turn make up a segment. When the existing space in a segment is completely used, Oracle allocates a new extent for the segment.
You can view segment extents by clicking on the link in the Extents column to display the Extents in Segments page.
You can display the Show Tablespace Contents page by choosing Show Tablespace Contents from the command drop down list on the Tablespace property page, the Tablespace View page, or the Tablespace search results page.
Note: Developers could only display the tablespace map to a maximum hard coded number of 30,000 extents. Tablespaces are often larger than that. If a tablespace is larger than 30,000 extents, the portion over that is displayed as Unmapped. To avoid exceeding the memory capacity of the tablespace map and to display the map without unmapped extents, use a search criteria displaying results of less than 30K extents.
For an overview of tablespaces, see the "Overview of Tablespaces " chapter of the Oracle Database Concepts Guide.
For more information about managing tablespaces, see the " Managing Tablespaces" chapter of the Oracle Database Administrators Guide.

    Hello,
Once you split partition you need to rebuild indexes if you want indexes to be in their own tablespaces
    ALTER TABLE PART
    SPLIT PARTITION PK_ID_PRD_MAXVALUE AT
    (6)
    INTO (PARTITION PK_ID_PRD5
           TABLESPACE ACTIVITY_TAB_TS_1
           PARTITION PK_ID_PRD_MAXVALUE);
    ALTER INDEX PART_IX
    REBUILD PARTITION PK_ID_PRD5
    TABLESPACE ACTIVITY_IND_TS_1;
    ALTER INDEX PART_IX
    REBUILD PARTITION PK_ID_PRD_MAXVALUE
    TABLESPACE ACTIVITY_IND_TS_1;Regards
