Max number of 'OR' elements in a single query?

Hi there,
I'm running on 9i and was wondering if there is any limit on the max number of elements allowable in an Or query.
i.e: column1 = value1 OR column2 = value2 OR etc.. etc..
If there is a limit, what is it?
Can it be configured?
What is a good value for performance (all columns are in the same table)?
Thanks for any input...
P Lowry

Hello,
Yes there is a limitation of elements on a BSP page.

  • What is Max number of schema in a single DB ?

    Hi All,
I have small query does anyone have any idea about
What is Max number of schema in a single DB we can specify in oracle ?
    Thanks n advance.
    Anwar

You don't say which version of the database you are using. In 10gR2 the maximum limit on users and roles is 2,147,483,638.
I think this is more users than any sensible DBA would want to manager :)

  • Max. number of expressions exceeded

I have a simple SQL to select data from a single table with a
    list of 1000 elements i.e. SELECT A FROM TABLE_A WHERE B IN (1,
    2, 3, ..., 1000). It worked fine. If I added one more i.e.
    WHERE B IN (1, 2, 3, ...., 1000, 1001), then I got error 1795 -
Max number of expressions exceeded 254. I thought this error
applies to the number of expressions. What I have was a list of
    values in a single expression -> B IN (1, 2, ...).
I think the error message is misleading. If there is a limit of
1000 elements in the IN expression, the error message should say
so unlesss Oracle somehow formats the 1000 elements into 254
    expressions behind the scene.
    Any comments.
    Thanks.

    What versions are you using?
    Do you have a License?
    thanks

  • HT204053 Max number of devices on one iTunes account?

  • Max number of columns in table for compression

i was told that 256 columns is the max number in a single table for oracle to do compression on table. Can anyone confirm this ?

I can't confirm it off the top of my head but if it is the case then it is documented at http://tahiti.oracle.com you can look it up yourself.
What I do want to weigh in on is the insanity of a table with more than 256 columns. I consider any table with more than 50 columns suspect, more than 100 likely a strong indication that someone understands little about normalization. Anyone contemplating 255+ columns should have their fingers removed from their keyboard by force if necessary.

  • In Oracle 10g, what is the max number of values we can pass to  'IN' Clause

    Hi,
In my SQL query i have a scenario like, i have to pass the values to 'IN' Clause dynamically from other application. I want to know what is the the max number of values i can pass to 'IN' Clause.
i have searched in many pages i seeing answers like 'may be 1000' , 'not sure'....
Could any one tell me the exact limit of IN Clause in 10g.
    Thanks in Advance.

Could any one tell me the exact limit of IN Clause in 10g.1000 items such as IN (1, 2, 3, ..., 1000)
No limit on the number of sets: IN ((1), (2), (3), ...) *<=== NOT QUITE!* See below
No limit in sub-queries: IN (SELECT ...)
Edited by: Frank Kulash on Jun 3, 2009 9:43 AM
The limit of 1000 applies to sets of single items: (x) IN ((1), (2), (3), ...)
There is no limit if the sets contain two or more items: (x, 0) IN ((1,0), (2,0), (3,0), ...)
Thanks to Michaels for pointing this out.

  • Max number of entries in the variable input list (F4) of Bex Analyzer Query

    Dear BW experts,
When I run the Bex Analyzer query, it pops up the variable input screen.
If I don't know the specific value of the variable, then I can click on the input help (F4) to get a list of available values.  There is a max number of entries coming back to the list.  For my BW system, it is currently returning 500 values.  For other people and SAP Help document, it could be 1000.
My question is: Do you know where we can configure/set this max value? Is it a global setting?
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
    Kevin-

    Murali & Pra,
Thanks for both of your answers.  I think the answers that you provided are for BW 7.X version.
It is flexible and exactly the way it should be for each user to customize a specific variable.
I am running BW 3.5 query, and don't see the "Settings" option/button after I got the list of single values back.
Is there a way to set this up for BW 3.5 query Analyzer?  My max value is always 500 for all variables.  Is there a place for setting this value and save for the next time.
Any help from any BW experts is appreciated.

  • What is the Max Number of Total Work Process that we can Have on  One C.I

    Hi,
What is the Max Number of Total Work Process that we can have on a Single C.I
Is there any Limit that We can only have Perticular Number of Total work process ?
Or it is just Unlimited number of total work process
    Thanks & Regards
    Dan.

from the system throughput point of view a rule of a thumb is:
1 up to 4 sometimes 5 workprocesses per CPU.
(one is used in Benchmarks where you have a very small number of transactions running with a small amount of database accesses)
you can easily find it out:
configure 4 WPs per CPU. If you have a number of WP's consuming nearly no CPU time you can reduce the number of WPs.

  • Max Number of Files?

Is there a maximum number of photos/videos you can have in Photoshop Album?
(Sorry if has already been answered. I searched but couldn't find anything)
    Thanks!

    Hello,
I have the following questions which is linked to the "max number of files".
Since I am using the oldest PhotoShop Album version (V1), I am wondering if I can continue with it. I have 6000 pictures, and growing ~100 each months.I would like to migrate to PhotoShop Elements 8, I tried the trial version, but when trying to import the PSA catalog file, I have an error around 35% conversion... Anybody know what I can do ???
I tried to do a repair with PhotoShop Album, without success.
I can import pictures, by groups of 1000
But then, how could I merge all catalog ??
    Thanks,
    Kamayana

  • 1252 - Max Number of Clients

I have customer that is looking at deploying 1252 access points. I was wondering what the maximum number of clients that can associate to a single 1252. Does this count differ between 1252s running autonomous and LWAPP? The proposed configuration is using B/G radios at 54Mbps but quoting the A/B/G model for future 802.11n deployment (5Ghz radios would be turned off for now).
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx
    Joe

Its not as simple as the max number of clients but you also have to consider the type of client. Also food RF deisign and survey are critical to maximising client throughput.
There are rules for existing aps of approx 20-25 max for data. This would be 7 for voice in mixed mode b/g or 14 for g only and 20 for a only.
The ap can theoretically support many more clients, I think the figure is 256. With very simplistic data transfer such as bar code scanning I have seen as may as 50 clients with no issues.
As you ar lookig at abg these figures seem realistic.
With 802.11n you hav more bandwith available, better utilisation of the spectrum and therefore more client but its about being realistic and looking at what you are trying to connect.
Streaming multimedia would be lower than data only. Data only I would say 50 clients no issues but thats quite a density considering the RF footprint. For voice you are stuck with the above figures as you are still only dealing with abg clients.
    Hope that helps

  • Max number of caracters in subtitles in Encore? Trying to avoid "Subtitle too complex to render"

Does anyone know what the max number of caracters in a single Encore subtitle "string" is if you want to avoid the "Subtitle too complex to render" error message?
I have a project with one subtitle layer, concisting of 483 "subtitle strings" in it and i'm getting the "...too complex..." message when rendering.
But instead of spending endless hours of trying to guess which one(s) cause the problem, i'd love to have an answer like "Don't ever tap in more than XX caracters in a single subtitle"
And now we are at it:
I'm let to believe that the distance between the individual "subtitle strings" also can release the "...too complex..." message. Any clues as to what the minimum number of frames has to be between the individual "strings" in order to avoid the error message (the project in question is a "classic" DVD-project - not BluRay)?
    Thanx in advance.

Well, just in case anyone else is stuck with the same problem and comes across this old string: After several tests I have come up with this solution that works for me - and perhaps for others too:
Notice that the subtitle borders are set differently than the default settings. The settings I use keeps the subtitle string just inside the outer safe area border where as the default settings are inside the inner safe area border and thus resulting in shorter subtitle lines.
You can choose a different typeface and size if you like. These matters doesn't seem to have much influence on the "_too complex_" issue.
With these settings I can write a maximum of 60 characters, including spaces, per line. Remember to make forced line breaks between the lines, if your subtitle string is longer than one line. Otherwise Encore will see what appears to be two lines as one long line exceeding the max number of characters and thus resulting in a "_too complex_" error.
And as for number of frames between subtitle strings: Minimum 5 frames - but Encore will automaticly warn you if you place text strings closer than that.

  • Max number of partial delivery

    Hi,
In the sales Order screen mentioned that partial delivery for one sales order number is 9.
It means that Max number of delivery document related one sales order is 9.
Is it possible to have more than 9 delivery document for one sales order?
Is it any way to change?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I believe the settings are maintained in the customer master, sales area data, shipping tab.
Nevertheless, you can create as many partial deliveries as you want for the single sales order. If however you cross the max number of partial deliveries maintained in the customer master, the system just gives an INFORMATION pop-up saying that the max number has been crossed.
    Hopefully this is helpful.
    JP.

  • Add the elements of a single row/column of a matrix

    Hello everyone,
what's the easiest way to add all the elements of a single row or column of a matrix given the matrix and the number of that row/column on LabVIEW ? The output should be a number for each row or column.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm assuming you are very new to LabVIEW, otherwise you would know about For loops, indexing, and the Array functions.  In many programming languages, a "matrix" is just a multi-dimension array, but in LabVIEW, it is a different representation of a multi-dimension array.
If you are really working with a LabVIEW Matrix, the easiest way might be to convert the matrix to a 2D array and use the various Array functions to do the work.  Note that once you have the row or column isolated as a 1D array, there is a function on the Numeric palette that will add the array elements for you (so you don't need the For loop to do that).
P.S. -- I underlined "might be", above, because I've never actually used LabVIEW's Matrix functions, but have stuck with 2 (or 3, or 4) dimension arrays.

  • How to change the screen element of a single field in a table control

    Hi Gurus,
I want to change the screen element of a single field (or the whole row) in a table control according to a condition.
I have 2 columns in the table control. One is an input column and one output only. When user enters values into the input column, they need to be compared against the values in the other column, and if there is a discrepancy, the row where the discrepancy is needs to be highlighted.
I have tried the following code which highlights the whole column ...
CONTROLS: TC_ZVOYG_BINS TYPE TABLEVIEW USING SCREEN 0500.
DATA: wa_tc_zvoyg_col LIKE LINE OF TC_ZVOYG_BINS-cols.
      LOOP AT G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_ITAB
               INTO G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_WA.
        if G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_WA-zdelivery_bin ne G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_WA-zactual_bin.
          loop at screen.
            IF screen-name = 'ZVOYG_BINS-ZACTUAL_BIN'.
              wa_tc_zvoyg_col-screen-intensified = 1.
              MODIFY tc_zvoyg_bins-cols FROM wa_tc_zvoyg_col TRANSPORTING
              screen-intensified WHERE screen-name = screen-name.
            endif.
          endloop.
        endif.
      endloop.
And also the following code which makes no change ...
      LOOP AT G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_ITAB
               INTO G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_WA.
        if G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_WA-zdelivery_bin ne G_TC_ZVOYG_BINS_WA-zactual_bin.
          loop at screen.
            IF screen-name = 'ZVOYG_BINS-ZACTUAL_BIN'.
              screen-intensified = '1'.
              modify screen.
            endif.
          endloop.
        endif.
      endloop.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The modification of a screen element attribute (LOOP AT SCREEN...MODIFY SCREEN) must always be done in the PBO (for a dynpro, it will be in a PBO module, i.e. declared by MODULE ... OUTPUT)
About the loop at the internal table, it is done automatically by the system, also during the PBO, you'll find something like LOOP [AT itab] ... WITH CONTROL ...  in the PBO part of the screen flow logic (note: you may have to complete with a supplementary READ TABLE if you don't use AT itab). So you don't need an additional loop.
    Best regards
    Sandra
